Hey everyone! Thanks for watching. Wanted to point out a mistake in the video - the OLED 27 doesn't use the triangle subpixel layout that QD-OLED panels like the Alienware 34 QD-OLED use. Seeing a lot of replies that the remote came with a battery, too. Possible this was just a packaging slip-up for my review unit. No battery was definitely frustrating, but I think the bigger issue here is that you NEED the remote to control the display instead of though a joystick.
I think the issue is because of how far oled technology has gone it would take years even on consistent content (i.e same game like ow2) for it to be present.
@@zweiigorgon8980 Yes, I understand your point. But not including burn in as part of your warranty just adds to the fear or fear mongering of burn in IMO. And makes it look even worse when brands like Alienware include burn in as part of warranty for their OLED products.

I want to use an OLED or QD-OLED monitor for my PS5 and Series X, apart from productivity. I bought one the other week and it begins shipping here in the UK in April. I mostly use my monitor for gaming in a dark room and I've been running my current monitor at 40% brightness anyway. I can totally see why this monitor may not suit certain use cases, but I think it's the right one for me.
Pretty happy with mine in the first week of using it. Brightness is just fine. The only brightness complaint I have is the autodimming in HDR. It kicks in when most of the screen has a bright image, like a bright cloudy sky. It sucks that this can’t be disabled the way you can with LG TVs in the service menu.
I have an C1 and I am pretty sure, there is no setting for that. If there is too much white on screen, the whole picture dimms like hell. It's really annoying. Especially when I watch a TH-cam video where someone shows some graphs and animations, and the picture just goes crazy, because it doesn't know how to dim that quickly.

Burn In scares me, I like to video edit and I'm kinda OCD when I notice edges with colour bleeding / pixelation. Is it going to be noticeable for Video Editors?
I’d say you’d probably be best using it in sdr mode if you worry about burn in. I have the monitor but people have said in sdr mode, the max brightness isn’t that bright for them. I find it to be on par to my old monitor which I kept at 50% and I game in the dark so it doesn’t bother me. As for the ocd thing, I’m fairly ocd as well, and if you’re talking about the text fringement then you’ll probably notice it. When I first took it out, I noticed it right away but only because I was setting it up and had it like 25 inches away from me. But now I actually keep the monitor about 29 inches away from me because it lets me cover a good amount without having to move my eyes alot and the text fringement has not been noticeable at all at that distance but your mileage may vary. Another thing to keep out since your ocd, and this is my only gripe with the monitor is that you’re going to have to be constantly be using the remote for pixel/image cleaning (image cleaning every 4 hours at most, if you’re constantly using it to avoid burn in; it also has an auto mode so when you turn off your console or pc it does it on it own but doesn’t do it until it reaches about past 4 hours). I love to keep my desk and clean and minimal as possible and it annoyed me I had to have another thing on my desk. Would have preferred if they had a joystick and enter button behind the monitor. I now keep the remote on top of my Nintendo switch but it still bugs me since it’s like in the back of my head. Overall I’d say personally it was worth it because I could not stand washed out colors and terrible viewing angles on tn panels. And ips bleed is not something I want. It’s the closest thing to a monitor being perfected until micro led comes out and is more smaller and readily available for the public consumers Edit: oh and I use the image shifting mode on max. Lots of people say they notice it, but I actually don’t notice it, especially when you’re gaming, it’s not noticeable not one bit. I only notice it when I’m browsing the internet and have to be focusing on looking for the image shift. Again you mileage may vary on that but that option will help hinder burn in as well
After using this monitor for multiple games ever since I got it, this is the best monitor ever and will make it very difficult to leave OLED for gaming...

I actually got a CR2025 battery on my purchase. Maybe it depends on the region. But I agree, tool-less set-up but then requires you to unscrew (a very small screw btw) the remote is weird. I had to look for my toolkit for the appropriate sized one. Though for my use-case, I prefer to have a remote (or better yet, an external puck for OSD control like what BenQ has) than to use the on-monitor toggle (this monitor has it but it is hard to use as it is a single button control) for longevity reasons since I need to switch between three computers (one for work [company-issued], one for gaming, and one for creative use [mac]) constantly and having to use the on-monitor control makes me worried about it breaking or malfunctioning sooner than I want. Finally someone I can relate to around text clarity, brightness, and reflections (coating). None of those three bothered me, even with my mixed use (work + game) and I think some reviews are overly exaggerating those concerns. Those who are very much concerned about burn-in should just skip OLED altogether. There are too many factors for a burn-in to occur. The production batch, and mainly the usage would dictate this. And us having these panels for monitors (NOT as TVs) now means there really isn't much data to support or to deny burn-in claims. But again, if you are concerned about burn-in then might as well stay with IPS/VA or wait for better miniLEDs (with higher zones as what's currently on the market now) or better yet wait for the microLEDs to be available (which I believe would be a ton better than OLED monitors).
I want to use an OLED or QD-OLED monitor for my PS5 and Series X, apart from productivity. I paid £930 for my LG 27GR95QE-B, whereas the Sony inzone M9 is £1000 still, & the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 & G8 are £1099 & £1299 respectively. For anyone else in the UK looking to buy this, LG do a 2% discount if you become a member with them, & they give you a 5% discount code you can use for this monitor (hence the £930 instead of £1000). Membership is free too.

I'm both interested in and sceptical about this monitor. I'd be moving up to it from a 1440p TN panel. The text clarity "issue" gives me pause, but I don't know if it's enough to dissuade me entirely. The biggest issue is the price. Here in Australia, it's retailing for $1799.
quick tip you can use an lg magic remote from the oled lineup or service one to get it to work. I have not even touched my oled remote that came with the monitor
Is it better to use the HDMI 2.1 port, or Display Port 1.4? Or does it not really matter? Also, for gaming, is it better to turn HDR on or leave it off?
My desktop rig has finally, greatly, surpassed the capabilities of my 15 year old 1080p Flatron IPS236. It's gotten to the point where I can load up a game and *see* that it looks fuzzy or blurry, and it just looks better on my 4k TV. But I often prefer to play at my desk, not the recliner. I sort of have my heart set on one of these 27 inch panels. But I'm skeptical, and the price tag has me anxious. Plus there are several of these monitors coming out this year and I'm not sure LG is the one to go with.
The other way 1440P is an advantage is in the lifespan of the display. If you have a high end PC that could drive 4K, 1440P will last you longer because it will take a lot longer for the PC to age out of the resolution.

Preventing baby deaths from swallowing batteries is a worthwhile reason to spend 2 seconds unscrewing the cover. It's likely you'll only ever replace the battery once or twice as remote batteries easily last years. The fact you NEED a remote to access basic features is absurd however. It’s the closest thing to a monitor being perfected until micro led comes out and is more smaller and readily available for the public consumers
Edit: oh and I use the image shifting mode on max.
Will it look and work fine on my series X ?
@@christianmartinez5236 yes, actually it seems like the console HDR may be better than Windows 11 despite the HDR calibration tool.
@@theluckyace awesome thanks bro so you recommend buying for Xbox , the graphics loook good ?
the biggest problem with oled screens is vrr flicker, literally every oled monitor will suffer from it and its really annyoing and distracting
There's a really good reason for that screw in the remote - those batteries can permanently debilitate or kill children when they're swallowed.
Ppl whit no kids never think outside the box.
Btw the remote for me is perfect.
Overall this monitor is great but if you are on the fringe just wait a few years for the brightness technology to improve and windows to catch up.
I'm not rich at all but I want to invest in a long term monitor. I'm currently using the Benq EW2440 launched in 2015 I think. As I have an Xbox Series X and I'm planing to purchase a PS5 as well, I want to get the best HDR possible, more than 60 hz and more than 1080p obviously. The IPS black leves are horrible, so it's why I'm looking for a VA or OLED panel. Aso I want to use the monitor for productivity on Windows 11 (working, navegate, videos, reading news, etc. not just gaming). The bad thing is that in Spain the Samung's are not so available and the new LG oled has not even come out. Also I heard that through this year more OLED monitors will come, but idk if it's true. The 27" LG OLED would be perfect for me becasue of dimensions, not being curved, HDR and color/contrast levels, but the risk of burning is so high for using every day during long hours for productivity. In the European Union it's 3 years of guarantee, but LG excludes the OLED burning "if you are using the monitor in a wrong way" (what's a wrong way for a monitor and how the hell would they know that?) I heard Samsung's VA panels for Odyssey neo G7 and G8 are close to OLED black levels but their size are pretty big for me. I don't know what to do. I play just on consoles, with 120 hz max they can perform, but the colors and contrast levels are the most important for me tbh.
Currently using the lg ultragear OLED 45 and I don't think I can ever go back to anything smaller.
mine is in the mail and im excited to see the difference from this 1080p TN panel ive been using
I'm totally on, but that 999$ are really too much for me, and I'm scared of what will be the conversion in euro
The fact that it doesn't output 4K and that the consoles can only perform max at 120FPS is a red flag or do you think that the OLED constrast and brightness justify it in stead of an IPS or VA panel? The 4K HDMI 2.1 monitos are discontinued because are old or can't be purchased so easily unfortunatelly. It seems 4K for monitors is not a priority now.
I bought my monitor a week ago and it came with a battery? And a screw to open the remote? What more do need after LG offeringa?
4K OLED is what I'm looking for
Tech is slowly getting there
I paid £930 for my LG 27GR95QE-B, whereas the Sony inzone M9 is £1000 still, & the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 & G8 are £1099 & £1299 respectively.
For anyone else in the UK looking to buy this, LG do a 2% discount if you become a member with them, & they give you a 5% discount code you can use for this monitor (hence the £930 instead of £1000). Membership is free too.
AW3223DWF is 34" UW 165hz Oled w/ 3 yr burn in warranty for about $1100 but can be discounted with some CC promos to around $1k ish after taxes. If you ain't trying to be a top 500 Valorant player I'd go the UW monitor route.
Why there is no similar 32 inch model? It's either 27 or 42, 48 and bigger. The only 32 inch models I know are really expensive.
I got a battery included in the box for the remote, I’m surprised to hear others have not!
where did u buy the monitor from ?
I'm both interested in and sceptical about this monitor. I'd be moving up to it from a 1440p TN panel. The text clarity "issue" gives me pause, but I don't know if it's enough to dissuade me entirely.
The biggest issue is the price. Here in Australia, it's retailing for $1799.
quick tip you can use an lg magic remote from the oled lineup or service one to get it to work. I have not even touched my oled remote that came with the monitor
Lg makes mind blowing displays. Oled flex, standbyme, libero, pose, gallery edition, room&tv, argo, dual up etc.
Thank u so much for that elaborate review and comfort of me knowing - I made the right choice with an Xbox S and small room and table setup
Is it better to use the HDMI 2.1 port, or Display Port 1.4?
Or does it not really matter?
Also, for gaming, is it better to turn HDR on or leave it off?
How is it for watching movies? How are the speakers?
My desktop rig has finally, greatly, surpassed the capabilities of my 15 year old 1080p Flatron IPS236. It's gotten to the point where I can load up a game and *see* that it looks fuzzy or blurry, and it just looks better on my 4k TV. But I often prefer to play at my desk, not the recliner. I sort of have my heart set on one of these 27 inch panels. But I'm skeptical, and the price tag has me anxious. Plus there are several of these monitors coming out this year and I'm not sure LG is the one to go with.
240 nit maybe ok for gaming and movies watching. But, for productivity use, it will be hard. Well, LG is selling it as a dedicated gaming monitor.
Does it have built in speakers?
Dude what game are you playing at the 1:00 mark?
Don’t know if you found your answer but it is either Jedi fallen order or Jedi survivor
I have the GS (which is the successor) and the VRR flicker is horrid.
Other than that, an excellent display.
Turn off energy saving to get a brighter picture and use the Gamer 2 option.
The HDR benefits from it.
The other way 1440P is an advantage is in the lifespan of the display. If you have a high end PC that could drive 4K, 1440P will last you longer because it will take a lot longer for the PC to age out of the resolution.
1440p really is the sweet spot for gaming, even on high end setups. All my based Chad homies know it.
When connected to the PS5 i cant change most color settings. Anyone have an idea why? Im using the original LG HDMI cable and i tried the original PS5 cable and still most areas are greyed out.
whats the covering over the screen like? is it like their tvs with glossy or is it the crappy anti glare shyt they put on everything?
9:31 mine came whit the battery 🤣
Btw, the images quality of this monitor are incredible. I do have a 55” LG oled TV and they looked just the same but the brightness.
I have the M9 inzone rn.. would you guys prefer the LG over the m9 inzone?
Okay where is my 32” 4K 240hz OLED then I’ll be happy
I'd be ok with 120hz or even 60hz for a 32" 4K OLED at decent price, especially if they offered it with a Glossy finish!
The battery was included in my package, in a small easy to lose plastic bag
For the love of God can someone answer this. When i had a LG c2 i liked that when i played nintendo switch. My zelda would mimic 60 fps with the motion plus thing. Does the ultragear have this feature as well?????
My monitor had a battery for the remote included. Got it 1-2 weeks ago.
i don’t even have money but i want a 4K OLED with glossy finish, touch input,15+inches, 240+hz,16:10 ratio 10bit display with great brightness on a laptop
With a 4090RTX build in
any brightness flickering with vrr enabled? thats pretty much my only concern with this monitor
Is the brightness really an issue? Super noticeable?
How does it compare to the macbook air screen?
I got it and man I didn’t know some of these games was suppose to look like the way they do!! Witcher 3 is insane on this monitor !
my remote came with a battery. not sure why yours didn't :/

I mean those consols don't do true 4k anyway, and you ain't getting close to even 120 fps in 99% games.
Where's Caleb? 🤷🏼♂️
No 4k or QDOLED for 1k USD.
If only their TVs wouldn't be so big. 42" still tad too large for desktop.
What was the space game showed towards the end. Really wanna play it 😊
Talk about assuring customers will be annoyed with your product right out of the box because there is no battery included for a $1000 monitor that is a real dick move. Some software to render text properly wouldn't go astray either....Think I will wait for the next gen for a bit more brightness and polish in general unless mini/micro led comes out in the meantime. I generally agree with the review though, its the monitor that makes the most sense this year so far.
I’m trying to decide between this and the new benq mobiuz I have a lg and love it but benq is cheaper!
im using this monitor it very good but low brightness is an issue for some sdr games such as starfield
Glad that there’s more OLED monitor coming out. That said, hopefully it becomes more affordable in the coming months.
Does LG or any other company have an oled 4k monitor above 144hz and above ?
I personally don't like matte screens. Otherwise, it looks like an awesome monitor.
How come i cant enable HDR in 1440P resolution?
I don’t know how people are blown away with this monitor. I’m returning it, very very dim, even in dark room, and image quality is very underwhelming.
My monitor and remote came with a battery… you sure it wasn’t in the box?
It has an external adapter for the power which i personally hate, this degrades picture quality.
You notice and flickering with ps5 ?
i have this monitor but im having trouble tryna adjust any colors i have hdr on and the colors are completely changed but if i turn it off it fixed and i cant adjust any picture setting on the monitor
Were you ever able to solve this??
@@MM.MischiefManaged there is no fix for it LG made it that way on purpose apparently
I love the remote and my monitor came with a screw and battery (not installed)..
My issue is with resolution switches to 4k for no reason when gaming and monitor give me a message about it!
It's not basically the aw3423dw, it has a completely different panel tech, w-oled, not qd-oled.
Not sure why the hell anyone would buy this over the Alienware?
@@WheeledHamster cause not everyone likes 16:10 or curve monitor for example.
@@WheeledHamster LG has better refresh rate, less blur, better response time, flat screen and PS5 compatible (dw doesn't have hdmi 2.1 and PS5 ain't suited for ultrawides)
Its real competitor is the Cooler Master Tempest GP27Q
Mini LED , with no risk of burn in
I got both and the tempest wins hands down. no dimming when things get bright, some games get so bright in the highlights that I've had to squint. The viewing angles were better on the OLED and the tempest is slow when going between Fullscreen games and the desktop. But the HDR experience is amazing.
@@yoitsmegabe thanks for the info
What about the spectrum oled???
Interesting. My monitor came with the battery. Was hidden with all the stuff that comes in the box but it was there.
1st year OLED, I'll wait. Not gonna spend the money for this. Not worth it. Great review! Thanks!
All I need is a 24" 1080p with 120-144 Hz OLED monitor.
1080p still grainy even on 24' 😢
Does it have hdmi 2.1?
the battery comes with the package. most people got batteries in their box.
$1000 for a puny 27in 1440p monitor is not reasonable to me. 🤷♂️
They waited for how long they have could... to suck our money from us on IPS, VA and TNs...
I'm waiting for a 4K OLED at 32" instead of 42". Also, I'm waiting for Microsoft to get their act together with subpixels, because I don't game as much as I used to.
same bro
But i cant Buy it anywhere ?
Caleb Jr. The 2nd?
The remote has a screw because in many areas of the world it's a legal requirement for button batteries. Preventing baby deaths from swallowing batteries is a worthwhile reason to spend 2 seconds unscrewing the cover. It's likely you'll only ever replace the battery once or twice as remote batteries easily last years. The fact you NEED a remote to access basic features is absurd however. I don't want to have to leave a remote in reach and add clutter to my desk for no reason.
This thing costs more than my entire budget PC build lol One day we'll see these OLED monitors become affordable 😪
Ah man no batteries included damn now I have to buy one since I've ordered and coming to me in a few days 😅
This monitor just confirms I'll be buying the LG C2.
Whoa you lost the battery??? Lol dude mine came in a small bag
Great review 👍🏽
There’s point where it really sounds like LG sponsored. Only one close is Alienware QD OLED. No hdr contrast is at minimum as good
I'm dome buying dedicated gaming monitors. After switching to a 42" LG C2 as a main display that I paid 900 for, I'm done with gaming monitors.
How have you found the size to be for daily use and gaming? It is truly the best bang for the buck.
@Pienimusta it's fantastic 👏 and when I want to watch TV on it I just switch the input and I also have a Sonos Bean Gen II connected to it.
42" is the bees knees
yea that makes sense. This monitor is for spergs like me who need 240hz as well as the motion clarity / OLED benefits for FPS games
there is a battery in there mines came with it
