      Its a shed trailer and they're like $20-$30k but will move the trailer up/down, left/right, in/out. It has a set of wheels underneath perpendicular to the drive wheels that are hydro driven to align it for pickup and drop-off. Look them on youtube, very cool to watch in action.

If I had laid out a slab in that manner for any of the crews around here, they'd have drug me out of the cab and had a reckoning. However...it's just one of those experience things. :)

      Check your contractors for any Better Business Bureau ratings and/or activity. Also check for reviews on "Home Advisor" site, "Angies List", and your town's Chamber of Commerce (if that is what its called), etc. . If the contractor is to do plumbing and/or electrical work, for example, check them for licenses. Ask friends and relatives about them too.

    My neighbor had a contractor do this same exact thing. Never removed grass just dumped Stone and formed. Poured 6" of concrete and left. After winter he called me to come see his pad, which I did and I was just shocked to see it cracked and parts sunk. He ended up explaining how the inspector told him it would be fine. Along with the contractor. Of course the contractor went by the engineers plans so he said. I ended up cleaning up the mess and starting over. Which cost him more but I explained that he got what he paid for. Now he has a nice pad with a 24x30 garage on. And is extremely happy with me for steering him in the right direction. If my reps on the line then it gets done right, even if in the end I only brake even on it at least my reputation is still good. To me I'd rather save my reputation then cut corners. Not trying to sound like a dick trust me. I like the work you do, and you are an excellent operator. Thank you for this reminder of why I do all my own work. For all the reasons already listed in the comment section from people who have a clue how to lay a concrete base properly I'd be horrified if I'd paid a contractor to do a job and they did it like this!

    Please start screeting your concrete before you bow float it works the concrete down especially on the edges which makes it easier for a better finish without ripples it's more work but the end results are way better

  • @psidvicious
    @psidvicious 5 ปีที่แล้ว +69

    Andrew, why is it that every time you even touch concrete, these trolls come crawling out of the woodwork? All these negative comments are SOOOO over the top, there’s clearly some kind of organized trolling going on here. TOTALLY ignore it. Take it from someone who made a living w/concrete for 35 years. Your slab is perfectly fine for what it’s for. It’s a garage for crying out loud! You’re not pouring a super flat for laser guided robotics to traverse (done that). Keep up the good work! 👊

      My suspicion is these guys are LIUNA members (concrete finishers union) trying to discourage you or anyone else from attempting these jobs and taking ‘their work’. I’ve heard them talking about this kind of thing before on job sites. Talking about going on TH-cam and making disparaging remarks about videos like this.

      To be honest, Andrew needs to spend some time with a concrete worker and get the finer points down.

    • @psidvicious
      @psidvicious 5 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Yea, you’re right. And while he’s at it with the concrete finisher, he should probably spend more time with an electrician, and an ironworker and a carpenter and probably a plumber and an architect and an engineer and a mechanic and various heavy equipment operators and a truck driver and let’s not forget a film producer...And only then should he be REALLY be worthy of posting a video on TH-cam. You’re right. I don’t know what I was thinking.

      @Rob F everyone's a concrete expert. guess what, Andrew did't put the video up to ask how to do it, but everyone thinks they know better lol. It's concrete, not rocket science. If Andrew and the customer are happy with the job what the hell does it matter to you?

    ps: I really wish the pre-fab folks weren't so cheap with their buildings. With no real eves or gable overhang the walls on that new garage will take full brunt of the weather. You'll be tearing it down too in 10 years.
