      Tree demon 363 Hey mate that's unfortunate about your back and a shame to not be able to enjoy retirement on your own terms, I was a plumber and had a accident with a pipe bursting spraying chemicals in my face leaving me loosing a eye and chemical burns to my face . So I after 30 years I to can't work and spend time watching TH-cam, and think this is one of the best channels and admire Andrews hard work and skills making these videos, so make the most of everyday and chin up cheers mate from down under.

    Another great vid, Andrew. Thanks.
    I'm about 50 miles north of you. I would've liked to at least seen the backfilling around the new pool. We bought our place 10 years ago that came with a 17x33 inground vinyl liner. We love it and trust me, if you do some research you'll find they definitely aren't the money-pits they're made out to be.
    That said, apparently the ground wasn't allowed to settle properly and the concrete apron has settled pretty badly over the years. I've had a slab-jacking outfit come in and somewhat level it out with mixed results. But it'll need to replaced at some point. My understanding is the backfill needs a full season exposed to the weather to fully settle, before putting any surface down.

      When I was in college I worked for a concrete company that specialized (due to demand) in replacing flat work around 4 or 5 year old homes in a town that was growing exponentially.
      Builders would backfill and pour sidewalks and patios over unsettled dirt. Everything pitched to the houses within a few years.
      The dirt has to be continually compacted as it’s back filled. Most don’t do it right.

    • @ChuckD59

    These home owners will regret keeping the same location for that pool. Unless the pool gets all day exposure to the sun it will be constantly cold. This is typical for the New England area. Their house casts shade over it. My pool had trees that after around 1pm would shade the pool and it was not warm by any means. Now the trees are gone and it stays fairly warm with the use of a solar cover for overnight.

    You are the man Andrew! Thank You for all the great work. And by the way, Not everybody could make that music work. With all of the odd tracks of music out there, somehow they fit perfectly into your stride and editing. You definitely turn out great work. Somehow you've linked up all your ability's perfectly. Not so easy, not to mention a lotta work.

    I'm caught up on your videos now. Great work ethic you have. If I may ask?, I see you running the equipment at the rock plant and loading yourself quite often? Great for you owning so much equipment at a young age. Enjoy watching, keep em coming.

      It's sad that you believe your described of Camarata to be an heroic act, or somehow unusual. In fact as a kid the opposite was true; for every 1k daily honest hard workers, there was 1 slacker [though able bodied], that was not supported by the government. Also know that those slackers were shamed by society vs coddled like we see today.

    I'm just curious why they needed to go down to such a large "shelf" around the remaining hole of the old pool? It looked like they went 4' below grade for an area WAY bigger than what the finished pool ended up being.

    • @AndrewCamarata
      @AndrewCamarata  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because those metal pools have a bunch of re-enforcements that go into that area.

    Im sure you know a lot about excavation already but, you maybe entertain the idea of buying a roll off dumpster truck. we used then for house demo's and scraping plus they will haul dirt and gravel and when your not using them you can rent out the dumpers for sight clean up. we used then a great deal and made pretty good money with them...just thinking outside the norm

    Why is every scrap yard such a cramped little hole in the wall? It's like the owners just figure if they pile stuff 90 feet high they'll only need a half acre of land for everything. Nevermind the endless traffic jam of people trying to unload without crashing into each other.

    • @AndrewCamarata
      @AndrewCamarata  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no reel. I just screwed the tarp to the head board. And have the back screwed to a pipe. That's the best way to do it. I had a reel for a while and I kept smashing it.
