They started issuing them in 2016. You can get regular plates instead though. I think that the registration authority decided to cheapen out, as from 2018, colored background taxi (starts with T, yellow background) and historic vehicle (starts with H, brown background) would only be made while stocks last, and they will go to the regular white background ones when the colored background plate blanks run out. Only military plates will have a colored background now.

I wanted to buy a new car, but then I look at my 2009 Dacia Sandero and how beat up it is and I remember why I don't do it - my car gets scrapped or bumped while parked on almost weekly basis, no matter where I park it.
Is it me or that wiper is kind distracting? :D But cool car, tho when I saw it on the car show, it seemed quite small. Still, pretty great price, range for a family EV :)
I really wanted to make this my next car (in a few years time)...but an EV specialist told me a few weeks ago that it is not going to be available in Ireland (or UK)...I am so p*ssed off ☹️ I won't be able to afford any other EV except second hand, and you don't know what state the battery will be in...so I think I might get a Smart fortwo diesel.... I'll protest by adding to the pollution 😂
It’s definitely going to be available in the UK, not sure about Ireland though. You can have electric car batteries checked before you buy to see what state they’re in if that would make you happier. For this sort of price an electric Skoda Citigo, Seat Mii or VW e-Up would be a perfect used buy for around the same price as this new.
@@blockhead7862 that's good news. Thanks for the information, I don't think there's many of the citigo/Mii/e-up's over here either. But I reckon by the time I come to change mine I should be able to pick up a decent Zoe second hand at a good price, and I do like them. Good to hear that the battery can be checked out before you buy. Thanks again for the info. 👍
And when they do arrive in the UK you can guarantee that they won’t be as much as a bargain as they are elsewhere. I reckon they will be too expensive for the range and performance you get ,plus, the charging infrastructure here is still very poor…and that’s being kind.
It's slow yes, but no it's not "dangerous", sure you won't overtake anything, and be a common customer of the right lane, but if you respect speed limits, it's perfectly adequate for a daily commuter.
@@WojterEXx it can't merge properly because he nearly stopped half way through the merge lane, wich is not how it's supposed to work, IF you're accelerating all the way through, it's perfectly safe.
@@WojterEXx It is not a racing car and it is not made to go on highway, only on city roads. If you want performance then buy the 1020hp Model S Plaid thingy
It's a great second car for short distances. Then again, for about 20% less money you can get a 1.0T petrol city car of much better interior and ride quality, performance etc. Not to mention that Volvo measured about 150 000km is needed on their cars for electric to became better for the environment (compared to internal combustion). So with a city car you're actually doing more harm since we tend to forget manufacturing/batteries. It's still at least a decade before we'd say "yep, it's electric" (also batt. capacity and charging speed, there are already huge issues at charging stations queue in some parts of the USA when people want to charge their Tesla and there aren't even that many of them). Just my personal input, this is still a very good buy price wise. Here Nissan Leaf for example costs 120% more (so it's a very expensive car) and it's very poor, hard plastic all around you.
Yes but Renault Kwid is not an EV. This Dacia Spring is coming from China and is originally named Renault City K-ZE. In Europe, for some reason it is sold under the brand Dacia, unfortunately…
Yeah for €18k is expensive , but in Romania you can get it for 7k due to this program offered by the goverment to get rid of old polutting or non functioning cars. You trade an old car with the intention of buying a new one, and for full electric cars they give you about €11k and you pay the difference
Beautiful video. I wish the development of electric cars was not so hurried, and recharging from solar panels would be conceived. Another thing is a flashlight, the warranty is very small, and a new one is worth the price of a new car. I would prefer the development of electric trucks, and only then passenger electric cars. I wish a clean world like everyone else but if we only produce electric cars everything gets worse. It will be so much electricity consumption and power plants have to produce it, and all this will emit more emissions into the air than all cars with internal combustion engines. But the car is beautiful, we will see how the development of these cars will develop. Beautiful video, thank you for showing this car. 😉 💙
It's a city car but eventually there will be a time when you'll need to go on the road and if it takes 18 seconds to overtake a lorry then you're in a problem. Should've been at least 75hp. Total deal breaker.

It’s the motor from the twizy. When you think about this cars use case, it’s fine. It is mainly in the city, where you rarely need to travel fast in places, or in rural areas where you have frequent access to a plug and don’t travel very far, you do not need any more power to keep yourself moving. The idea they went for is to use the hardware they’ve had for 10 years, with a refreshed battery pack, this way allowing the overall production cost to be considerably lower and a lot more practical for a less expensive marketplace, where it becomes obvious that after a while you can make a lot of sales.
@Alex Ptc Your ass has nothing to do with this discussion. I'm interested to know which other modern car has only 44HP? @@juhaniemela3476 it is enough, I had a Opel Corsa ECO 1.0 with 54hp and 90Nm, it was enough felt lik a normal car in daily traffic, this Dacia is EV so it has way more torque from 0km it will feel much faster than a Corsa =)
That’s weird. In fact the Opel Corsa 1,0 Eco accelerates two seconds faster than Dacia Spring, in 17,1 seconds.
Maybe Spring feels faster than it is because it’s so small.
@@juhaniemela3476 i didnt said untill 100km/h, i said untill 60-70kmh. After that its very slow. But for city driving its more than enough
We won't get this Spring in UK. Thanks to Brexit will fork out £45000 for Tesla 3. insane.
thanks to idiots and loser of B Johnson. And many things u will not get there anymore from now.. that's just beginning of leaving Europe
Brexit is not good for the British economy. I will not travel to london anymore to spend money.
Very sad.
Thank you for your videos! I always enjoy watching them.
You have driven a lot of very different cars. Can you please name several, that you’ve liked the most?
I thought only Brazil and India had this car.
But here in Brazil we still haven't received this update.
why would it be Brazil and India? Dacia is a Romanian brand.
@@Tzankotz Dacia belongs to Renault and Renault produces cars in Brazil
@@Tzankotz that car is named "Kwid" in Brazil. If you search " Kwid Brasil " in portuguese you'll find.
@@renanoliveira5121 Didn't they buy Dacia 2 years ago or so? It's highly unlikely they could relocate production this quickly. Also the Spring in particular is made in China AFAIK
@@renanoliveira5121 isn’t Kwid the gasoline version which costs $5000?
I think green background Polish plates are for electric vehicles. Here in Lithuania, we don't have colored EV plates, we just have regular black-on-white plates with "EV" and 4 numbers after that.
Cool driving video
When you want electric car, but don't have money for Tesla
Tesla can't handle it so well as a mini car in town. And tesla isn't super for Europe considering u waiting a lot for pieces. Different advantages and disadvantages in this world full of traffic jam this is king of town
If you don't have money for Merc EQS you have a lot of e-cars from Dacia spring to Tesla what ever.
Thats kinda the whole point of this thing. It’s the type of car they build to switch people who normally just buy cars to go places over to electrified power.
In complete perspective, it makes sense, so I am not one to judge 😂
Most exciting thing after watching paint dry is listening to those windscreen wipers.
I hope Dacia bring this to the UK.Looks a good car.
DOnt buy it car is dissaster. I dont say that as a hate...looks good but thats it. Quality is way too low they will probbably stop producing it soon. Renault probbably proke the deal with the Donfeng manufacturer for this car. There is nothing Renault or Dacia on it they just try to sell asians cars in Europe in tricky ways.
I wanted to buy a new car, but then I look at my 2009 Dacia Sandero and how beat up it is and I remember why I don't do it - my car gets scrapped or bumped while parked on almost weekly basis, no matter where I park it.
As I saw the video I was like "Uh, a car from dacia with acceleration" but nevermind... 😅😂
It DOES have acceleration. Less than a Matiz, true, but it has some
its a real city electric car
The Dacia Spring is accelerating like an ocean liner.
0-100 kmh: yes
Is it me or that wiper is kind distracting? :D
But cool car, tho when I saw it on the car show, it seemed quite small. Still, pretty great price, range for a family EV :)
It's small compared to other cars. It's big enough for people though
Then you should check id.3 wiper
What a meaningful video !!! Great moving steering wheel and a well-functioning windshield wiper 🤣😂🤣
There's loads of Leaf's...but I just can't get my head round how ugly they are at the back 😂 plus, really the Leaf is too big for me and what I need. But I reckon by the time I come to change mine I should be able to pick up a decent Zoe second hand at a good price, and I do like them. Good to hear that the battery can be checked out before you buy. Thanks again for the info. 👍
And they have much better performance. Citigo, e-Up and Mii have 61kW (81,8HP).
And when they do arrive in the UK you can guarantee that they won’t be as much as a bargain as they are elsewhere. I reckon they will be too expensive for the range and performance you get
,plus, the charging infrastructure here is still very poor…and that’s being kind.
My god that acceleration. Its hopeless and dangerous.
If u want speed buy Tesla then. This is car for city not for racing. To drive from point a to point b with low costs.
It's slow yes, but no it's not "dangerous", sure you won't overtake anything, and be a common customer of the right lane, but if you respect speed limits, it's perfectly adequate for a daily commuter.
You two didnt see the video then. Turn to 5:00 and you will see that this car can't even merge properly. Its dangerous.
Thank you for this video!!!!
In our country this car is coming from India, called Renault Kwid.
Yes but Renault Kwid is not an EV. This Dacia Spring is coming from China and is originally named Renault City K-ZE. In Europe, for some reason it is sold under the brand Dacia, unfortunately…
0 to 100 in 16. 3 sec. Is very good, according to Dacia, should be 19. 1
It is a flying start. Other Videos show 19s.
Yeah for €18k is expensive , but in Romania you can get it for 7k due to this program offered by the goverment to get rid of old polutting or non functioning cars. You trade an old car with the intention of buying a new one, and for full electric cars they give you about €11k and you pay the difference
Very good city cars and enough performance for that only 50kph tops.

I love this small car!
Hello Everyone 👍
Nice recording
Do you know what's weight of it's battery pack? I can't find it anywhere.
can you share your opinion on the suspension and wind noise since these things are difficult to compare by video?
enough to go to work and back or for the lady to go shopping.. why spend so much more for other cars...
such a mice city car. i would take this one
It's a city car but eventually there will be a time when you'll need to go on the road and if it takes 18 seconds to overtake a lorry then you're in a problem. Should've been at least 75hp. Total deal breaker.
Very Good Dacia spring
I'm buying this!
nice watch man :)
Total range is small, some 450km would be desirable and 80 hp would be ideal for cheap EV.
And the top speed is just 110 kmh. Not enough for an autobahn
@@kaganayhan8437 well after all it isn’t meant for the autobahn, Dacia has invested in ride-sharing platforms and short term ev-rental for the spring ev. I’ve heard there are renting stations all over Paris where you can rent something like the spring ev for a few hours and then return it to it’s original place once you’re done
450km is Tesla territory, a car that costs like 5 times or more
A drive test made by a Romanian (video available on TH-cam) obtained 300Km range with one full charging.
Door sounds like an old cargo van lol. Same wiper as in twingo from the 90s
its a good car for city
i would love this car but i wish it would have the new interiour like the new sandero.
5:05 xDD
He should put a calendar near the windshield so we can better see the acceleration
@@Micholex - It was immense acceleration for 44hp!
@@mr8I7 Not so immense. That’s a typical acceleration for that power. In the 70s, there was the 900cc Fiat 127, which also had 44 HP and acceleration was 20 sec/0-100 km/h.
44 hp. If you want to get bored to death
@@maxnewts Yeah but it is so slow that is unacceptable for today's standards that's all
@Alex Ptc Your ass has nothing to do with this discussion. I'm interested to know which other modern car has only 44HP? With this Dacia, you have to drive the pedal on the floor all the time to stay with others in traffic, and i think it can’t be economical. A more powerful motor wouldn’t have to work so hard, and it could be more economical…? I don't know, but I think so.

How can you test cars without knowing how to use the steering?
wiper motor make more noise than the actual motor of the car
