I have the lower HP one.
That bucket brings me to work every day. Around 50km total daily.
    Battery lasts around 150km middled.
The thing is: I charge it on a normal 16 Amp plug over night. Costs me around 7€ per charge.
Heating in winter, cooling in Summer, dry in the rain, the music i want and i can even throw my Labrador in the back and drive over bad dirt roads.
And I paid around 12500€ 3 years ago.
It's a tool that does its job.

Other than that, yeah, it’s a s…tbox, but we absolutely love it. Also, with subsidies, we only paid like 10k €, and you just can’t beat that price. Mine has fast(ish) charging, you can actually do a full charge in ~1h. Oh, and a final thought, it is absolutely without a shadow of a doubt a city car, and for that purpose, it’s great. Shuffling kids, grocery shopping and such, great. You kind of need a death wish to go on the freeway with it as it’s absolute top speed is 130 so … yeah. Still, we love it.

It obviously doesn't fail, when so many are buying it.
The car is a very good city car. You don't have the relatively high fuel consumption for city-driving, but rather a very energy-efficent small electric motor. You can charge it using electricity that definitely is cheaper than fuel, and you have no problems getting into tight parking spaces.
The car produces way less noise pollution than any ICE car, and you don't have any local gas emissions, which is a very good aspect.
Yes, it is very low quality and cheaped out on every corner, but for a majority of people, that's alright. They need something that gets them from point A to point B, and that as cheap, easy and reliably as possible.

They just want something a cheap runabout for their daily commute, going to the supermarket, and other day-to-day driving. The Dacia Spring is that car but new and electric. Great for short trips around town and just outside of it and it can't get much cheaper. Adding more stuff to make it sound and feel more premium only adds to the cost, size and energy consumption of the car. Because some people just want a car, not a tool to show off

@@johnnylight0 Good to know! I had a Panda years ago, that was 3*, and got hit by a big Audi. Was absolutely fine -- I think NCAP concentrates a bit to much on the active technology now rather than the intrinsic strength of the chassis.

The most important thing is that it can take you from point A to point B.

Is it worth mentioning the Zoe is out of production, well out of date, and it's replacement is what you're going to see? The Spring it'self is 5 years old and other then converting to Uk spec the battery and charging hasn't been updated

We got a Sandero Stepway in 2014, and it's been utterly reliable. Even had a Volvo crash into the front of it and come off the worse for wear! Yes it's cheap as chips, but for a low cost city commuter, it's perfect.

Matt once bashed the Sandero. This guy hates Dacia and is silly because they are made for those who can't afford what he can afford.

I have always been fascinated by minimalist cars and have enjoyed owning a few that I bought used, starting with a series of Opel Kadetts from the '60s. Scooters and poverty-spec mini-cars may not be on many teenage bedroom posters (is that still a thing?) but can still be a lot of fun to thrash around in the city.

      And tight garages/parking spaces/car parks.
Most new EVs are excessively wide for some reason (wider than a Mercedes S-Class)

I usually put a phone holder on the windshield and the USB port being on top is actually an advantage.

I guess when you have been testing cars at 50k & above it must be sooooo hard to come back to reality!
