This would have been 4 or 5 stars 10 years ago. Structurally it's solid, it's just that the airbag tuning and seat belt tuning aren't the best so forces are quite high and sudden. These new star systems are overly dramatic.
Păi ... pentru ce crezi că are trotineta??? După ce i se se termină cei 50 lei de combustibil, când scoate mașina sa impresioneze fetițele necunoscătoare ... activează trotineta! 😂
I still don’t understand why it received just 32% in Assist Systems, since it worked perfectly well. And I don’t even understand the one star, since the crumple zone worked, airbags deployed, there was no severe A-pillar damadge, nor steering wheel or pedals hitting the driver.
I guess they counted what the car DOESN'T have, like steering assistance, driver monitoring and all that. Would that be possible in that car? Shure. Hey, look, a shitty golf, with worse plastics than a 30 years old low! Let’s give it 5 stars because of useless systems!
Airbags are like getting punched with boxing gloves. They are not soft, they are just much softer than directly impacting metal or plastic with your body. Additionally, there's the loud noise of the explosion that creates the gases that fill the airbag, which can cause hearing loss, and the hot gasses themselves, which can cause burns as the airbags deflate almost immediately after being deployed.

Surely the majority of accidents are vehicle to vehicle. Why are all the tests done hitting or being hit by solid objects? The thing hitting the car should have deformation zones as well.
I really appreciate all the work NCAP does but que stars issue MUST be addressed. This car has okay safety. Much better than some cars of old that if we check the archives have very good ratings. And yet, if I'm in the market for a car and I compare this car's rating versus an old car's one the old one will look much better. THIS IS A PROBLEM!! I don't care that this has one 2021 stars and the other has 4 2007 stars. Like what does that even mean? Create a point system. Do something about it. Because the way you are presenting your results is misleading at best. The constant introduction of new technology is only going to make the scoring issue even worse, with old results being less and less significant. So it's about time it gets fixed. Regards
Why are you not comparing it to a Horse carriage? it's safer than those as well. What's this mentality of comparing it to cars from 10~20 years ago. We are in 2022 and the standards have improved from back then. There was a time when airbags were optional, or when pedestrian safety was not a thing. Things improve and for improvement we need to keep our standards higher and higher.
@@daemiax you get much more sfatey per dolar spent than in other cars. That's the point. The fact that you have automated braking system it's already mind-blowing for this price imo.
I don't understand why they give it 1 star. Frontal deformation is ok, interior is intact, occupant kinematic is good, airbag absortion seems ok, side curtain airbag looks good, displacement ok, AEB looks good to....
I think you are putting too much value in active safety system. I believe that 20% at most should be the active safety systems, the rest is up to the chasis, driver and various passive safety systems, which this car has and I don't see any huge problem with how it performs.
Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. We seem obsessed with reducing risks to zero. What happens if you’re hit from behind at speed? None of the these cars are tested for that. 🤷♂️
then the car would roll forwards, with the kinetic energy transferred from one car to another. the main risk of injury is therefore whiplash which was tested. unless you reverse into a brick wall, they won't test this kind of rare crash.
I have an 11,000 euro carbon fiber bike with 0 protection, and you will complain about the car being cheaper than a bicycle, I see that the driver's and passenger seat is good , the car is for the city, the speed is the same as a bicycle so it's ok

Funny how this car cost £6046.75 OTR in India (RHD) as Tata Nexon, and in China (LHD) as Renault K-ZE, they bring to Europe and sell it for £22,500 claiming it is "Additional" Euro Ncap safety which adds to the cost. Where have they spent the £16,453.24? May as well import three Tata Nexons, you would have change and same chance of survival.
So it is a very safe car then. Certainly looks as safe as it can be. Not much you can do about side impacts but head on the passenger Shell stayed in one piece so doors could open and passengers get or be taken out which in my mind is good. Just as good as the first 5 star NCAP car in 2001 the Renault Laguna or any cars after it. I would have no problem being a passenger or a driver in this Dacia.
A completely non-deformable car would look "safe as can be", but the protection would be horrible. This car has a high risk of severe chest/pelvis/leg injuries in the offset test and head injuries in the full-width test.
Now compare it to an used premium brand car, they're much better and safer... I would't feel safe in such a tin can... (used to be a mechanic. have seen lots of crashed cars, and like it or not, premium cars are safer. One particular example, one guy literally flew off the autobahn into the woods, car was completely trash, but thanks to half a dozen airbags and engineering, dude hadn't even a scratch... This car may look like the renault kwid but kwid is safer than spring as the kwid may have 2 stars the spring has 1 star but good job both renaylt and dacia
Didnt look bad. The cars are not meant to colide, this car is a pure city car is not meant to travel long distances, so in a city the risk of a colision that can kill you is slim even for a 1 star car. The max speed is 50km/h, almost everyday i get traffic jam so i doubt people can colide and die in a city. Outside the city in highways is a different story but this car is not ready to go outside the city it has 200km range, in highways maybe 160km range, you cant go far with that range, its a pure city car
It looses points because the new regulations count electronic aids, witch the dacia is last of his kind to not have all the electric assistance. So without that new regulations it would have been better

The spring is based on an extremely cheap indian market car, the renault quid. The body wasn't really designed for the european market, so this could be the reason why it only got 1 star. th-cam.com/video/a3Xiw-xP3HA/w-d-xo.html crash test of the quid back in 2016
Funny how Zoe got 5 stars in 2013 but 1 star in 2021. The side curtains are standard on all Zoe's now though, so it is definitely better now.
If this one star and ZOE zero stars then I have no idea what is 5* today. Ejector seat with a parachute? This seems like a very solid car with a lot of airbags.
And severe injuries in the frontal test... READ THE REPORT, GODDAMN IT! STRUCTURE IS NOT EVERYTHING!
Good news! The Dacia Spring EV gets a 1 star rated crash test!
GREAT!
@@dncviorel Anyway...
This would have been 4 or 5 stars 10 years ago. Structurally it's solid, it's just that the airbag tuning and seat belt tuning aren't the best so forces are quite high and sudden. These new star systems are overly dramatic.

Shure. But no one would pay 30.000€ for that.
edit:
Ah yes.

Were they expecting the car to fly or why such a low score? Seems pretty robust to me.
I mean just like 10 years ago a one start car would mean that the roof would cave in and the A-pillar completely collapse. So this really doesn't look that bad at all.
Not 10 years ago Jens, you would have to go back to the mid nineties for that. By 2005 Renault had an all 5 * rating

Because of missing assistance systems that euroncap thinks should be mandatory… no seatbelts blinkers in the back? Oh, no!!! One star minus! No active lane keeping! Oh noooooo! Two stars missing! Although this is clearly a city car and it wouldn’t benefit from many active assistance systems that euroncap thinks it should be “mandatory”. Hey, look, a shitty golf, with worse plastics than a 30 years old low! Let’s give it 5 stars because of useless systems!
At 1:00, someone tripped on the light cables ?
Do side air beg cause any harm when they get suddenly opened?

Regards
Scores must be adjusted just like prices are adjusted for inflation for long-periods comparison. Otherwise the analysis would be completely useless.
I completely agree!
It's a shame that it is not being done like that already...

Renault Kwid as we know it in the South, has come a long way, from not having an airbag, not bad
I have an 11,000 euro carbon fiber bike with 0 protection, and you will complain about the car being cheaper than a bicycle, I see that the driver's and passenger seat is good , the car is for the city, the speed is the same as a bicycle so it's ok

So it is a very safe car then. Certainly looks as safe as it can be. Not much you can do about side impacts but head on the passenger Shell stayed in one piece so doors could open and passengers get or be taken out which in my mind is good.
