  • Here is the formula:
    Present: Talk a little bit about what your current role is, the scope of it, and perhaps a big recent accomplishment.
    Past: Tell the interviewer how you got there and/or mention previous experience that’s relevant to the job and company you’re applying for.
    Future: Segue into what you’re looking to do next and why you’re interested in this gig (and a great fit for it, too).

    Your formula was great. I will apply this into my job interviews. This formula will work for who doesn't currently working as an accountant or CFO. How he/she can start in the present tense form. Thanking you

      I don’t like this layout. Why not just start w/ the past, move to the present, then touch on the future. Much more logical and flows more seamlessly.

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The best approach here is probably honesty. Just talk about the reason why you were away for one or two years. Hiring managers and employers in general are much more empathetic now to people situations.

    Hi Bill, can you make a video on the best acc professional papers such as ICAEW, ACCA, or CPA. And which is more appealing towards employers or is it more or less the same. Also, is it recommended if we take up these papers after we're done with our degree or should we take up these papers while we're working?

      I think they all teach you same but difference is only jurisdiction they are accepted. Work is almost same everywhere but you need some tweaking according to local culture and practices i.e different degree for diff places. You should do a degree of place where you want to work in future

    Dear Bill. I wanted to ask how do you respond if you are currently unemployed. Yet you worked in the past.

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  ปีที่แล้ว

      No perfect answer here. I've seen some folks take the angle that they are trying to start their own consulting business but decided to go back to work (maybe make that true by trying to start it). Otherwise, honesty will be the best approach but work harder on impressing the hiring manager with your understanding of the job. Good luck!

    Could you please tell us what books to read in regards to accounting world that are more of job related than just textbooks

    For me, It is all about the posted job description cuz what the company is looking for is all there. So carefully read through it and adjust your answers/resume to fit into the picture well but DON'T LIE. Give the hiring manager just the right impression and you will stand out.
