Thank you! Will use this with my Air2s to remap our hunting property. This will help us compare vegetation trends against our 5 year old professionally made map.
Thanks for the great tutorial! I've been interested in this because there is a lot of agricultural industry in our area. The whole process was a complete mystery to me until I saw your video. Now I feel like I could attempt this myself. Great job!
Thanks, excellent video. Although just the basics it covered some areas the more geeky vid's miss. I'd sort of written the Mini 2 off, but for this this it seems to work well. Cheers from New Zealand
Hi today i proceed the procedure with maping and cancel the work in flight. But after this the drone pause in the air and hover. Not respond to my mooves from transmitter. Only when push to return to home respond and come to me. Why this happen?
Hayden, brilliant video thanks, I have Mini 2 learning to use it , this aspect of being able to Mapping work is just awesome - thank you for your effort to put this together, will hook up to channel to view more - Fantastic thank you.
Say u have a major issue to deal.woth the drone wants to fly away or. There's somethign u set wrong and a tree needed to be avoided. Is there an easy way to take back control of the drone 100% n fly by controller to make sure it don't crash or fly away in emergency
Great video, did you plan to do one for the Mini Pro 3? Ive a mini pro 3 with the RC remote ( controller with screen built in ) and something like this would be great for our surveys
Thanks for this one. I have a Mini 2 and Inspire1 Pro. This app seems to say it works with both of these. I also have a DJI XT thermal camera but I don’t see that on their list. I was goin got buy the Air 2 S but if I can do mapping with Mini 2 or I1Pro that.would be great
Hi, I tested Map Pilot Pro today with my DJI Air2s to create a series of photos to use with the mapping program WebODM. The 2D&3D maps produced are consistent with maps created using my Autel EVO ll with the Autel Explorer app Missions. What was interesting was that the Map Pilot Pro program automatically changed the drone speed to a slower than my set speed to produce the best photos accuracy at the beginning of the flight. It was early in the morning where the shutter speed would have been too slow. I am very impressed with Map Pilot Pro.
Thank you for a very well made tutorial, appreciate the time you put into doing it! Just wondering, will the route be uploaded to the drone or do you have to keep a steady Wifi connection between the iPad and the drone the whole time?
I have sort of a silly question: I come from a Filmmaker's background, been flying drones for a few years, and recently got my FAA Cert for a commercial job I was hired for a couple of months ago, also a "filmmaking" job. But yesterday I got a last-minute call for a small construction site needing a Drone Pilot; nothing as complicated as in your video, just documenting on video the installation of a small Modular home using a crane. What I'd like to know is, when I deliver this edited footage to the Construction company, do I add music to it? Or do they prefer just the video with no music? I'm so used to the creative side of things, I've never done an industrial project like this...
@@adamo1435 unfortunately the client is the most uncommunicative person I’ve ever met; don’t know how he became a contractor. I asked him and he said “just get the drone in the air and get footage of my guys lifting the house with the crane.” Now a week later, he got back to me saying “Theres a problem, this is for whomever buys the home, so it needs to be shorter, sped up footage, and I need you to come back when the home is completely finished to get 360 footage of that.” So instead of asking him again, I simply stated; “ oh, well if it’s for the buyer, I should also put music, and the title of your company at the start… I originally thought this was just for your own reference.” He was happy with that and said he’s got 19 more homes for me to do in the next couple of months.
Can the app be used on a computer, or do you have to manipulate everything on the iPad? Also, does the drone controller need to be plugged into the iPad? If I download the app, will it explain what I need to do in detail?
Hayden how are you? I would like to ask you something, when I try starting the flight, an error appear on the screen “ there was an error executing the command (code 1008). Do you know What does it happen?
just awesome. how precise is the final map vs google maps ? wasn't the speed a bit too much for a mini 2 ? :) how come maps made easy is free for this quantity ? how did you send it to the customer (what kind of format) ? thank You !
Depending on how windy it is when you are doing the mapping, the final map should be fairly precise. And I just shared the link that maps made easy gave to me for the project.
I have a stupid question, would you be able to do the same with a DJI 3? Since my old DJI was stolen I have not invested a lot again however I am slowly getting back into it and should have my 107 in a few days here.
I have the mini 3 pro but it isn't listed in the options of cameras in the Map Pilot Pro app. If I select another camera in the list (like mini 2 or air 2) will it still work with my mini 3?
Thanks for the great video, sadly I’ve got the mini 4 pro so automated flights is trickier with software. Do you set the gimble/camera angle to 90degrees to point straight down?
Thank you so much for the video. Our Department is looking for a cost effective alternative to some of the other mapping programs out there. Basic 2D thermal hotspot detection is needed for some operations and the fact that we can run it on smaller platforms like the Mavic Mini's and Autel Nanos is great (Also, prefer to map off the iPad and not DJI Smart Controllers). Do you know if the application has the ability to import KML files like GSP did? Also, does it RTH automatically for battery changes. Thanks again for the work!
You can't do thermal with a drone that doesn't have a thermal camera. The mavic mini series is an example of something that does not have thermal capability.
No it does not. It will save all the photos it takes and geotag them, and then you upload all of the photos onto the software when you do have internet connection.
Very nice walkthrough. What is the purpose of doing such a mapping? What extra information does it reveal that is not already available? What is the benefit of having access to the extra information?
Its more accurate than plans. I assume thats the main point of getting a 3d-scan from your site. But I don't know why solar plants are so interested after they've build it. Before construction I think this is interesting to determine how many dirt has to be moved and how forests near the site will throw shadows. But I'm really curious what the benefits are from this. Infrared pictures could make sense, to determine the photovoltaic panels quality.

Very detailed and informative video...many people don't know mini2 can be used for survey mapping...Its a reference video for them.
Great tutorial! Thank you for doing this and making this information available to fellow drone pilots! I'll be watching for more videos from you!
😮😮😮😮😮😮
We carry out a lot of mapping work using the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Pix4D capture app, so easy these days. We also use Pix4D to process the data
Not only very interesting but also really great video. You opened some new ways to enjoy my drone! Thank you very much!
So photogrammetry output can only be seen a n the site or software used? Or can it be transferred out as it’s own independent picture?

so you can program a path and make it snap more than 12MP photos ? My DJI can make 48MP photos
I did this program and I was having problems with the three giga pixels or whatever do you have to pay for more to do more

Do you have to use the Apple product with this?
I would like to know can use this as a way point feature like some of the other drones have?
Does DJI Mini 2 SE can do a good job ? Thanks
Is this in Frederick?
Hello! I have a Mini Pro 3 using a controller. Your controller is an ipad with downloaded software. How can mapping work in my workflow? Thank you
How would you use the app if you have the RC 1 or RC 2?
hi! which software you are using in the first step? the "dji fly" app from the appstore? i am using an iphone / ios. thanks in advance!
Does your camera pitch randomly from 90 degrees to 70 degrees at the end of a line? If so, have you found a solution to this problem?
Yes, mine does as well. I have not found a solution for it yet though.
how did you connect the drone?
amazing job dude . thanks a lot for this video
Thanks for the video, it was very informative. Hopefully i will get to do a similar project someday.
Cool beans dude! Can’t wait to try it

Drones in agriculture is very hard to get into. So, will this work with Google maps and a Mini 1?
