Last night I was watching your laser that you put into your .22 rifle and I was amazed at your ingenuity, I watched both of those videos, then I woke up this morning and saw this. I just so happened to have the identical (frozen) refrigerator that you have, and I REALLY am interested in how it works out. Hopefully, when you do find out you would (please) tell us how your remedy worked out for you. I just want you to know, I really do love to watch people that 'know' what to do because they have a certain kind of a brain that goes into action when it's needed. :) I'm not exactly stupid, and I do fix some stuff, but it really amazes me to watch those that do this stuff so effortlessly. Thank you, Sir, and I subscribed because I find your projects very interesting.
Thanks... the ice maker mod appears to have solved the freeze up issue but really too soon to declare it I work in R&D and have a lifetime of experience inventing and building solutions. I am not permitted to share that work but I think TH-cam is an awesome tool that has the potential to elevate our potential to conserve and create so I share what I can
@@neuromanglers Hopefully the ice maker is fixed. I no longer use mine anyway, but it's nice to know. I changed over to a water filter and we just 'manually' fill trays for our ice. Our water here in Texas (where I live anyway) tests at 100, and I use a Zero Water filter and it brings it to zero, just like it says, well, so far anyway. That does not surprise me one bit that you are in research and development. :) I'm STILL looking over your channel, I wish MORE people did what you did, this is what TH-cam used to be about, people sharing useful things, not the crazy stuff that we see today. :) Thank you again, I wish that more people knew about you, they don't know what they are missing. (No reply is expected) :)
I think I'm having the same issue! I also found this video online. th-cam.com/video/1c9um5N3WgA/w-d-xo.html it could be split wires in the wiring harness at bottom of the freezer door. I think there might be a wire that provides some kind of a heating circuit to keep the inlet defrosted. another wire for sensors. another for the dispensing motor, etc..
Please help me! I cannot get the ice maker arm to come down so it can start making ice. I have the same frig. I used a hair dryer blowing on it and slightly pulling down on the plastic arm, it but it won't move. I don't think a frozen water line would be the problem or would it?
That arm only comes down to sense the level of ice in the bin. It continues to make ice until the arm comes down and contacts ice cubes The water is likely frozen it the nozzle, blocking water flow
Hi, checking to see if your foil fix worked long term. I'm having the same issue. The foil worked for a bit then froze again. I then tried some PE foam around the tube but it still froze. I've also replaced the water valve as well just in case it was closing completely.
I have the same problem. Used a hairdryer to melt the frozen water hole. Got a stream of water to run. Does anyone know a way to test the ice maker without waiting for the cycle?
I can switch the ice maker off and it does not have water dripping after many days so that tells me that the solenoid valve is holding pressure properly

Thank you sir. I really appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge, ingenuity and your time to help others.
any update if the foil mod worked for you August 2023?

Yes, still ok

Do you know how to get the ice maker to call for water again after finishing the repair? or did you just wait until it did it on its own?
I just let it cycle on its own time. It did not take long
Could it be that your water valve solenoid is going bad? Not closing all the way and causing the water to drip and freeze in there, maybe?
I can switch the ice maker off and it does not have water dripping after many days so that tells me that the solenoid valve is holding pressure properly
You must have a lot of time on your hands to build a laser for your ice maker!😅
I just have lasers laying around looking for things to do
