  • In this video, I'm going to give you all the info on the Setpower RV45S fridge/freezer. I recently picked this up because I liked some of the features on it versus the typical plastic fridges I've had in the past.
I'll walk you through the dimensions, the features, and my thoughts on why I think it could replace my current fridge in my Overlanding set up.

That’s the fridge I have and it’s been great! It’s big, but it doesn’t have a bad power draw at all and it’s survived being bounced around in the back of my Jeep for over two years. Plus the metal makes it’s easy to put stickers on.

Nice! And that's always a plus with the stickers, :D.

I have this and it's absolutely brilliant. I have zero complaints - has completely changed camping for me.

Great choice and have loved mine for almost 2 years and what I recommend for anyone not wanting a dual zone. I keep mine at 36 and it keeps my food plenty cold and sometimes freezes stuff near where the cool air comes out. We have used it in the house multiple times for parties and holidays when we need extra fridge space. As long as it's not hot out it really doesn't use a lot of power.

I have this very cooler that I purchased last spring before my trip from Florida to Idaho and back. It performed flawlessly in the mountains of Colorado, and the rough trails of moab. It does tolerate an incline of 30 degrees so no worries there. I also have the insulated jacket for it to help in the high heat environments which I feel now that I didn't really need. I used an eco-worthy 20ah battery to power it most of the time which gave me 20 hours of use and used the vehicle charging when driving.
This cooler and others from set power/Iceco are definitely a must have when overlanding.
On a side note some people do not like the orientation of the power plug cord going forward, I switched my cord the other way by removing the screws on the panel, easy mode to do if its gets the cord out of the way.

We have absolutely loved our SetPower PT55. The only thing we aren't fans of, is it didn't come with baskets. Makes things a little more challenging. They make great products. Never heard a complaint. I also have their AC adapter and it works great as well. I like the style because you can use it for other things too. I used it to do my initial burn on my diesel heater 😅

Good to hear! I've always heard good things about Setpower stuff, but it's nice to see other people having good luck with them too!

Had mine for 2 1/2 years and loved it. Then was getting ready to leave for a West Virginia/Virginia trip last October and it would turn on but wouldn't cool. No error code.

Huh, that's weird. Any solutions or did you just write it off and get a new one? That is one good thing about not spending a ton on a fridge, if it makes it 3-5 years, I've probably gotten my money's worth.

Was leaving in a few days didn’t have time to fix. Picked up an F40 47 qt dual zone off Amazon. Planning on taking the set power to local repair man

Looks a lot like my iceco vl45 which has been fantastic! Even the control bank is identical

Mine doesn't look like that one, but is a SetPower dual zone. I probably don't need a 55, but it works very well. I notice even if I don't have the small side turned on, it stays quite cool from the other side. No basket, however.

Yep, this is a single zone, but I really like it.

I’m just gonna say that it fits more beer inside 😂 that’s it

Looks like a nice fridge for your over landing application but I would rather have the Secop Dan Foss German compressor thats used in the IceCo’s with a 5 year warranty. I just use mine for camping so it’s not being jarred around like it would be in over landing. I guess it’s a matter of application and use.

Yep, good points! I've had pretty good luck with several different brands and I haven't had any issues or failures yet. But, to be fair, most of them have seen about 2-3 years use max, so I haven't exactly tested them to end of life.

I also have a 2022 Pro-4X, but I have a tonneau cover since I'm more of a weekend warrior. It looks like it would be short enough to still close the cover, but having it on hand do you think I have enough room?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's 19" tall so it's a little close, but I think it should fit. Maybe just throw a measuring tape on the bottom of your tonneau and check it, but if you've got more than 19" you should be good.

I love the simplicity but I have to have freezer side.

They make dual zones also, check out their website.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding

Yep, good point. They do have some dual zones. I pretty much just use my fridge for light food and beer, so I've always had single zones.
