Must be a lot of profit in Botox. My doctor told me one comes back every three months. I think the cost was about $300 a visit. I did not go just asked.
How very sad. In pursuit of perfection she essentially destroyed the beauty she already had. I have seen botched jobs like this in America. I used to work with an ethical plastic surgeon who would refuse to perform cosmetic surgery on people who clearly had an obsession and didn't really need the work. The unfortunate part is that some of these people didn't take his advice and would go elsewhere and then return to us to "fix" the mistakes made by others.
@@victoriap.m.6960 She’s a trans woman, just has a low voice. They mentioned early on that she transitioned in the 90’s. I imagine that just compounds the mental strain of what the treatments did…
@@victoriap.m.6960 She completed her transformation. Have you ever met someone, who was trapped in the wrong body? I have, before and after transitioning. I've also kept it secret, when one went into surgery, for the final step - in case she didn't survive. But, she did. She called me up, and we spoke about it. I asked her only one question: How do you feel, completing this? I could hear her smile, all the way from half the US away, "Freedom! Just freed from my prison. My wife is still my wife, and I love her with all my heart, for dealing with everything, from when I told her the truth. She had only request." I nodded, "Go on." "She only wanted our kids to be in High School, when I began the physical part." You see, God makes no mistakes. Trans people are here, to teach us broader lessons, in that love ❤ must be unconditional. And when you marry, for better or worse? You still have a choice. But most importantly, they were childhood sweethearts, who are soulmates. It matters not to them, the shells their souls are in! They're together, forever. And I find that kind of love ❤ beautiful, beyond this world, beyond time and space. Funny how I fell in love 💓 with a boy, at 6 years old, said I was going to marry him some day. Despite my shyness around him, I still truly mean it. Just don't know how to tell him - or ask him.
It is so important to go with a licensed doctor when getting beauty procedures! I got a nose job but it didn't turn out as I wanted and I needed two additional procedures to get the result I was going for. This taught me that even picking a great surgeon doesn't guarantee you a positive result. In the end, he was able to correct the issues and I'm very happy with my nose now. But if this happens with a licensed doctor, imagine what can happen with someone that isn't. My mom always told me to never be cheap when it is about your health or procedures that can change your body permanently, and this is the proof that she's so right!
That's such a good point! People think that unlicensed doctor wouldnt be performing surgery but it does happen all the time. I've just watched this documentary about plastic surgery "cowboys" they all had only basic medical degree and 15 hour course on facial treatments, and they were doing all sorts of plastic surgeries without having any surgical training. The amount of patients that ended up in septic shock in hospital was shocking some of them very lucky to be alive.
I feel so bad that this happened to her. Even worse because beauty means so much to her. I pray you continue to allow your inner beauty to shine and continue to share your story and warnings to others who might risk going to unlicensed individuals for these procedures. Very important work.
@@madi4481her*. You must be having a hard time reading, which isn't surprising for ignorant people like you. The videos says her, we address her as her, the end.
He didn’t say he would warn anybody but just tell them to think about what they are putting into their bodies, who listens to that?….not many especially these days.
I tried to get things done to my face just cause I wanted to be pretty. My husband always told me to stay away from it cause it’s dangerous and I did cause I never had enough money for it anyway. Seeing this video makes me grateful I never did any surgery. It looks so scary!
My grandma's sister ended up with the same face paralysis after a top bunk bed fell on her head on a train in the 60s. Such a shame that happened to this woman :(
I would never let an unlicensed professional touch my face (or any other part of my body)... Because even the licensed ones are prone to make mistakes. Imagine someone who probably didn't go to school for this... gosh. Edit: typo
Even the licensed ones are not 100% guaranteed to not make mistakes. That's why malpractice insurance is soooo high. Ask any malpractice lawyer and the doctors who pay them. The word "doctor" is more frightening than the word "burglar" due to the fact that doctors are licensed by the state/country to carry unproven trust. Unproven to me.
@@la381 ikr. Ofc we’re all human, but when it comes to a point where it’s harmful to the patient, I rather not take the risk of going to a random unlicensed person.
Oh come on prilailiu.... "I would never let an unlicensed professional touch my face (or any other part of my body)" ....that is a bit extreme UNLESS you only date medical doctors 🤣🤣🤣
As much as we're talking about UNLICENSED - you also have to remember that even LICENSED practitioners have unforseen incidents; to put your life in the hands of an unlicensed practitioner really puts your chances of a problem up 10 fold. At least with a licenced practitioner, they can help you and have the skill and knowledge to minimise any damage.
Thank you so much for your commentary on the documentary. It is very informative and i hope it helps a whole lot of people who are considering cosmetic procedures. I think the documentary also deserves an award. Although all I saw were the clips here, it too was very educational and deeply moving.
The main lesson is "be happy with your beauty, don't chase perfection." Bad results can and do happen, even in the US with top plastic surgeons. No procedure is 100% safe or guaranteed. You are always rolling the dice and gambling with your looks.
Poor thing , suffered so much … People can be judgmental all they want but at the end of the day it’s another human being that just wanted to be happier but got ruined instead . It a horrible thing to go through
I ran across one of these offices in the states. It was a woman who studied permanent make-up and branched out into doing fillers and Botox. She was in the Chicago area; now she can't be found. Her name is Brigette. I don't remember her last name; but if you come across someone named Brigette who is offering these services; BEWARE!
I worked for a plastic surgery practice and saw patients who had gone to a bona fide MD, but had no specialized training and the results were disfiguring. Some weren’t aware that extra training for specialization was needed and that requirements had to be met to be board certified. People are more aware of it now, but some surgeons just don’t have the same skills, like in any profession. It’s traumatic for a patient who is scarred for life simply for vanity and depression is common especially when the face is involved.
Even when you get the procedure done by a licensed professional results can go wrong. I had a rhinoplasty with a licensed doctor. He made my nose asymmetric and a completely different nose shape from the one he showed me on the computer. Overly tip-tilted. Every time I went there again to say the result is bad after surgery he was saying "Oh it's swollen now, it will be better when time goes by.." it's never fixed over time, but still that bad result. And he asked for money again to fix the things he did wrong in the first place...
I think that unless you’ve been in an accident or are born with an operable birth deformity, plastic surgery for just the sake of beauty enhancement is risky. In my opinion, I believe we need to be grateful to be healthy and alive. I’ll keep the body I was born with as is! 😊🌻
This is also a lesson in that loving yourself is what's important, no matter what you look like. Look at her confidence. I bet she didn't have that level of self acceptance before.
Yeah, this is why I never had the facial paralysis I was born with "corrected." The risk for "over-correction" made 12 year old me decide I was doing ok as is.
I think one of the main difference between license and unlicensed, is that when something goes wrong with a licensed physician, you get the help you need to fix it and not let it run out of control and cause severe morbidity or mortality. Like, we all hope for perfect outcomes. And lucky me, I have had perfect outcomes with my spinal surgery and my 360 body lift. But friends that went to my same surgeons have had different pathways, and it's not the surgeon's fault either, it's just different physiology, different healing abilities, but you have a professional to do further tests, prescribe anti-biotics, hospital stay covered, advanced wound care nurses and techniques. You wouldn't have any of that with someone off the street. I'm a nurse on a surgical ward as well, so I see soooo many different people and many have very straight forward surgeries, post-op stays, and go home. And then there's others that just something unexpected in their healing comes along and it turns into months ov IVAB in a hospital bed and or unmanaged pain, or omg, one dude got to his car, tripped, and ripped his whole wound open again, so straight back into the hospital. Oh and also the one that got out of bed against advice, fell, and rebroke the just fixed broken hip.
As always if you think about problems like this in the world , it’s caused by poverty. Eradicate poverty eradicate most of the worlds problems. Dr Gary I really enjoy your content I wondered if you might talk more about reconstructive surgery examples and operations about facial disfigurements caused by illness/ accident. This would be fascinating ( Katie pipers story for example) and might provide a worthy counterpoint to pure aesthetics.
Now it's time to tell my Botox™story! In the 80s, I had three eye muscle surgeries-having had my first in 1965 at the age of three-to try and adjust my lateral and medial rectus muscles. (I was born breech, which has caused several ongoing physical problems.) Well, the surgeon, an ophthalmologist from Hackensack, New Jersey, finally suggested I might get injections of botulism toxin-"…but you probably don't want to do that"-and I agreed; it sounded nasty! Ultimately, repeated acupuncture treatments have proven to be the most successful way to tame this problem, and the least invasive.
At a certain level, people know that getting an injection from a person without a license is dangerous and foolish. They just don't care until they have complications or other bad outcomes.
Even well known, well established, "reputable" surgery centers or Dr's can also have things go wrong. My mother had a tummy tuck done at the largest plastic surgery center in Indianapolis in 2001 & they cut off the blood supply to her stomach skin and all of her stomach skin died and she had to have skin graphs after several debridement surgeries to remove all the dying skin. She was there for a little over 24hrs in recovery & you could already see that her skin was dying within that 24hr period. But all of the staff just said "it's normal", it'll get better... It didn't. She is horrifically scarred for the rest of her life. BE CAREFUL
When you agree to surgery, you also accept responsibility for the outcome. Even the best surgeons (licensed) face potential risks, and sometimes, the outcomes that result are negative. When you sign the consent form, you agree that you understand the risks and are accepting responsibility for the outcome.
I have seen many amazing work done in Thailand. In fact, I have seen many botched work done by the USA, British, Australian doctors but not 1 by Thai. I am sure botched happens in Thailand as well- some people don't know how to research. Those people go to anyone claiming to be doctors, which many on TH-cam.
How do you choose a good doctor? How would a layperson know whether a plastic or cosmetic surgeon is a good reputable moral doctor that does good work? A doctor who will say no. Skilled and ethical!
I've also found that hospitals really don't know how to deal with all these specific procedures. When I had bbl surgery I was going to a lymphatic massage therapist. I had some fluid that was still not draining. It really wasn't an issue. She didn't know what she was talking about and told me to go to the hospital and I was trying to be proactive, even though there wasn't an issue so I went in there ended up spending a lot of money for no reason cause there was nothing wrong with me. What I found was the hospital didn't even know how to go about treating me or even testing me because they didn't know what a Bbl surgery was they were not equipped for all these plastic surgery clients to come in when something goes wrong. With the rise of plastic surgery, these hospitals should be equipped to handle something like that.
Omg, I didn't even think of that possibility, I hope not! It is horrific enough if it wasn't intentional, so I really really really hope it wasn't intentional 😢
I’m guilty of this. I used a hyaluronic acid( suppose to be) it was to much so I ordered fat burning substance to dissolve it & now I have large Marionette line there. I’m embarrassed by it. Drastically makes me insecure. I wish I had money to fix it via a. trained professional I have certainly learned my lesson. PS I’m telling you because I don’t won’t anybody else of to go through this. No rude comments please. I didn’t have to share this!
As a member of the trans community, I find that a lot of the times it is fear based around discrimination in a medical setting. Whether they experienced discrimination themselves or know someone who has, it can be frightening to see someone for something so personal as gender confirmation procedures, so the community tends to gravitate towards practitioners who openly treat trans people, which are either very expensive and have long wait lists or are unlicensed and have patients come to them through word of mouth. And sadly, with all of these bans on gender affirming care we’re seeing in the states, I think we’re going to see more unlicensed practices popping up and causing damage to trans folks in the US, as well. All of this to say: support trans healthcare. We will seek it out whether it’s legal and safe or not, so why not make it legal and safe?
In Thailand there are amazing clinics and very good professional surgeons. Unfortunately in every country either in the best clinic somethings can go wrong. Plastic surgeries and procedures can go wrong as any other medical procedures .
a lot of people in the comments are so judging and condescending. saying you feel lucky that you dont’t have to or want to do anything to your face like the people mentioned in the video is really unempathetic to them and trying to make yourself better compared to them. while the truth is the people who get plastic surgeries also want to look beautiful and a better version of themselves, which is not wrong at all. it’s toxic standards and denial to understand and feel for them partly pushed them to these destructive behaviors or procedures
A lot of viewers who are tuning into this channel are probably flirting with the idea of getting procedures and I'll be the first to own up to it. It is good to be reminded of what can go wrong and get a balanced perspective and I think the unlucky victim was very brave to share her story .
Have you heard of the study where 250 rats were put in a rat city where food, water and safety was provided? They all died....and vanity played an enormous role. I wish that it was common knowledge for everyone everywhere to know exactly where they can access all in info they need about a medical provider. Licensing, board certification, all malpractice suits filed regardless of settlement or outcome, etc. You should not ever have to go blindly into ultimate trust. If u decide to go forward with an “uncertified” individual for some reason, you must know that choice was your own. That and all uncertified practitioners should be arrested, punished, and monitored upon release. If they are not stopped immediately, imagine how many they could maul or even kill in just one day! A rational person would hopefully realize and take into account that some people are litigious, difficult to please, and rarely satisfied. If U are trustworthy and competent, why wouldn’t U want your work history to be available to the public? Feel the same way about law enforcement. Why do we allow people who have so much power over our freedom, among many other things, to hide? With great power comes great responsibility. Good apples live this way
The gender dysphoria that trans people experience can be deadly, trans people who cannot access medical transitioning sometimes turn to suicide. Gender dysphoria can be so distressing that trans people will do whatever they need to to get medical procedures to transition. Trans people are more likely to live in poverty and not have the financial resources to afford to go to a licensed provider. It’s not surprising that trans people choose to go to sketchy providers, since the option for many trans people is that or suicide.
Yes, even in Thailand where it's almost common in places there is that stigma. They have to work in the sex industry so losing your looks is a financial disaster too. Even in the U.s trans kids get kicked out of their homes with no education and as they are too young no access to things adults can get. So they end up in prostitution on the street too. It's crazy and people still think they can just tell them to get therapy as if that works. They are treating them the same way they used to treat gay people.
While I agree with this I can say from experience that not all transitions result in ending dysphoria. Be careful in believing all trans ppl need to transition physically to help it.
@@ninakore Yes and not all transgender people experience gender dysphoria or for one reason or another want to medically transition. I don’t think I implied anything else, but I am happy to clarify.

Must be a lot of profit in Botox. My doctor told me one comes back every three months. I think the cost was about $300 a visit. I did not go just asked.
Why not, if people are stupid enough to go there.... they are just surviving...
God bless you guys
@lean sipperr I mean yes but they wouldn't have been fixing it for free 😅😂

She had only request." I nodded, "Go on." "She only wanted our kids to be in High School, when I began the physical part."
You see, God makes no mistakes.
Even with license, they used bellafill and they hide information they don’t say is a permanent fillers and surgical removal
I feel so bad that this happened to her. Even worse because beauty means so much to her. I pray you continue to allow your inner beauty to shine and continue to share your story and warnings to others who might risk going to unlicensed individuals for these procedures. Very important work.

How unfortunate! Nobody should have to go through that 😢
The main lesson is "be happy with your beauty, don't chase perfection." Bad results can and do happen, even in the US with top plastic surgeons. No procedure is 100% safe or guaranteed. You are always rolling the dice and gambling with your looks.

I feel so bad for people who have to experience botched surgeries. It breaks my heart.
Yeah, this is why I never had the facial paralysis I was born with "corrected." The risk for "over-correction" made 12 year old me decide I was doing ok as is.

I’m sure you must be one of most well respected surgeons in the US.
Thank you for sharing your story. Sending blessings of Health, Healing and lots of Love to you ❤.
Maybe just be happy with what you have, and don't go overboard trying to change yourself.
Now it's time to tell my Botox™story! In the 80s, I had three eye muscle surgeries-having had my first in 1965 at the age of three-to try and adjust my lateral and medial rectus muscles. (I was born breech, which has caused several ongoing physical problems.)
Well, the surgeon, an ophthalmologist from Hackensack, New Jersey, finally suggested I might get injections of botulism toxin-"…but you probably don't want to do that"-and I agreed; it sounded nasty!
Ultimately, repeated acupuncture treatments have proven to be the most successful way to tame this problem, and the least invasive.
Botox messed up my eye muscle permanently :(
At a certain level, people know that getting an injection from a person without a license is dangerous and foolish. They just don't care until they have complications or other bad outcomes.
My trust issues saved me from doing any extreme beauty procedure٫ I can't even trust someone else to cut my hair😂
same here ;)
I know what you mean, my face is below average so I concentrate on working on my body and eating healthy to avoid acne.

How do you choose a good doctor? How would a layperson know whether a plastic or cosmetic surgeon is a good reputable moral doctor that does good work? A doctor who will say no. Skilled and ethical!
It’s not easy. But we are working on a solution to help people stay safe. More to come on this.
Seeing the damage, I would suspect a bias assault. Did she follow up with law enforcement? All kinds of crazies out there!!!
Might be easier to admit you're mentally ill and seek treatment for that.
If it’s illegal-it’s illegal
It IS legal and safe. But costs a lot more because they are real doctors with insurance and they use the approved products.

a lot of people in the comments are so judging and condescending. saying you feel lucky that you dont’t have to or want to do anything to your face like the people mentioned in the video is really unempathetic to them and trying to make yourself better compared to them. while the truth is the people who get plastic surgeries also want to look beautiful and a better version of themselves, which is not wrong at all. it’s toxic standards and denial to understand and feel for them partly pushed them to these destructive behaviors or procedures
A lot of viewers who are tuning into this channel are probably flirting with the idea of getting procedures and I'll be the first to own up to it. It is good to be reminded of what can go wrong and get a balanced perspective and I think the unlucky victim was very brave to share her story .

It’s not surprising that trans people choose to go to sketchy
providers, since the option for many trans people is that or suicide.
well said!
