I always, always, always saw my momma as such a beautiful woman growing up (everyone else does too) and now that I am older, I am starting to look like her. If she would of gotten something done, as a young and impressionable girl who looked up to my mother, I would of certainly thought something was so wrong with the way God made me, that I would need to alter it permanently. I don’t have children, yet (Lord willing 🙏), but I know there is a chance they will come out looking like me, and would never want them to think that anything was wrong with the way they look.

It's really toxic and harmful to women. I was watching a Korean show on Netflix and all the young actors had these porcelain complexions that looked pale and flawless like china cups. @@guntertorfs6486 Yeah, I got similiar thoughts... I think it's easier for her to critisize how much people can be obsessed with beauty standards, because she can easily fit in it, so she don't need to obsess that she can't fit when she already achieved the goal of fitting beauty standards, so she don't need to worry that it's not achievable for her... She's an influencer, after all... It's just a whim for her if she's obsessing about her beauty and acceptance problem, not the real struggle of a person who don't fit in but would like to fit and diet or undergo surgical procedures to prove themselves that they can be pretty if they want to. And even despite talking so much about how natural is good, she's always (from all videos which I've seen) presents herself in a makeup, and quite a heavy one, which comes across for me as hipocritical... But I'm forgiving her as she's doing good job anyway :) She's just basically very much the same to the people she critics (which don't invalidates points she makes actually).
Still dunno, it's a weird that she is not going for more natural look with the topic of her channel from even just business point of view... Especially that it's not like she would need to give up all beauty treatments. Currently it's in fashion to present yourself as natural, and due to that there is wide range of treatments available, so she could easily still have multiple beauty enhancements on her which would give her much effortless look, which would suit her channel domain better... However, as I aged and lost a lot of baby fat due to puberty, my features have become sharper and more defined. @Xuěhuā it's elevating a sick-looking emaciated face.
Ppl who can't afford plastic surgery will attempt to get this look other ways. Do you think those ways will be healthy? No.
Back in the late 80s and 90s, we had "heroin chic" glorifying a gaunt sickly look. How many young women suffered and died from anorexia nervousa as a result of trying to restrict their food to be thin enough to fit the beauty standard.
Myself, as a sick person with a wasting disease, do you know how many ppl started telling me how beautiful and gorgeous I looked when my face was skin and bones?
I was a skeleton and extremely ill, but younger women especially said I looked like a model.
Now that I've fought so hard to survive and to be a good healthy weight, now ppl think I'm insecure about my weight gain lol.
We've completely lost sight of what a "healthy" weight looks like on women. So yes, buccal fat removal does mimic illness, and being underweight. It's nothing ppl should emulate.

Same! I wasn't very happy about my rounded and fuller face because it made me look a bit more childish and didn't feel womanly enough. At some point I looked up into the surgery but thankfully never really went for it. My face also changed a lot around 27 (plus I lost a lot of weight, almost becoming underweight) and I've never recovered the look I had before even if I put the weight back on. I'm 32 now and now the fat just doesn't fill the same areas. My face has changed its shape a lot when I compare photos. Surprisingly as my looks became more 'sophisticated' (it made my high cheekbones stand up even more and made my lips appear fuller) I received more attention than before (...), but at 32 I already can see it won't be as great when skin begins to really sage. It kind of worries me, especially when it comes to the lines around the mouth, as in my dad's side they're very pronounced and visible. I know it's a genetic thing and to some degree I'll have to accept it, it does increase with weight loss but putting back on weight makes the fat go to that area, not to the roundness of the jaw lol. So imagine if I had removed that fat! It'd be 1000 times worse.

I'm glad my mother told me I didn't need to copy every fad. Beauty standards are constantly changing and fads are temporary. She taught me that doing something permanent to myself to be part of something temporary is something i would come to regret. She thinned her eyebrows because that was popular in her day but now the thicker eyebrow is the look and her eyebrows are thinning more with age. Now she wishes she never messed with her eyebrows at all. She also told me to hold on to my favorite clothing items because everything comes back in style eventually.

During my whole childhood, my mom’s only makeup was the same one Khôl eyeliner and one lipstick, and she only wore those on big occasions. She taught me by example that natural beauty is more than enough. I did grow up to love makeup, but I’m just as comfortable with my bare face, and that’s thanks to her.

Thanks to my mother who told me not to alter my face as trends come and go. Also that small imperfections make a person look unique which will help you stand out from the rest. Looking after your skin is much more important and that when time comes I’ll be grateful for that. Thanks mom !!!

I lost around 30lbs during my freshman year of college, and my face got noticeably slimmer. I always had fairly angular features, but now at 22 I do look like I've had buccal fat removal (in reality I'm far too broke for plastic surgery). Not really sure why anyone would intentionally seek it out as a permanent feature; I preferred when I could just choose to use contour if I wanted that look. The lighting in a room is a huge factor in whether I will look like a human with hollow cheeks, or a demonic entity from a horror movie.

It seems a bit more rare than many other face shapes and so ironic how the quote on quote insecurity of a chubbier face I thought I had, can become the complete opposite to where I have been self conscious about looking more gaunt. Guess they say to be careful what you wish for for good reason lol. Just showed me once again the grass is always greener on other side. 🙌 I think you may have a diamond shape (I learned this more recently) where cheekbones are widest part of face.💎🤩

I believe there is a real difference between people who follow trends for attention and people who have psychological issues projected onto parts of their body. back in school we had girls who were made self-conscious about their "hamster cheeks" by others. sometimes one mean comment will stick with you for years, and you start seeing things in the mirror that are not an issue to begin with.

I remember this from the 1990s when "heroin chic" was becoming a trend and "House of Style" on MTV followed a model going to a dentist for the procedure so that she could book more jobs. The model complained of pain levels as the dentist was pulling the fat pad out and he told her to "shut up" so he could finish. It was sobering to say the least.

although in victorian times, or whatever, chubby may have been stylish, I think the reason being overweight never gains very much traction is b/c it's an indication of eating too much and no exercise, which are indications of a lack of self control, which are usually unappealing traits. It's also often an indication of pregnancy which usually puts someone Off the dating market, again, not highly sought after by potential suiters. Just saying....

Same! I love his honesty. It’s what keeps me coming back!
I had an epiphany when he brought up how much more approachable Bella looked before. High fashion is meant to be exclusive. The last thing they want is for their models to look approachable. They need them to sell us that idea of something that’s ethereal, out of reach, beautiful in an intimidating kind of way that makes us feel excluded so we’re willing to pay the big buck to be let into their club.
Big cheeks give a friendly approachable look, which is the opposite of the image high fashion designers want to maintain.
It’s kinda sad, but I guess that’s how all marketing works, by praying on human psychology.
