    I live in Brazil and plastic surgery is a HUGE thing here. We had this buccal fat removal hype a few years ago and I've seen a good amount of people who had this procedure turn out to regret it and spending 10x more money to "fix" it (or at least make their faces less flacid).

I am not against plastic surgery but it makes me sad that so many people get it done because they want to follow a trend or because they don’t recognize their own unique beauty as something to be proud of 😢 Imagine how friggin boring and gross the word would be if we all looked the same!

    Thanks so much for discussing this topic. I had facial reconstruction at age 18 for a oral cavity birth defect, which required jaw & palate surgery stage one then plastic reconstruction to match the bone revisions. Going into the surgery, buccal removal was part of the plan but when I woke up, the surgeon decided not to do that part and told me, "You'll thank me when you are 40!" I didnt get it then, but I'm 50 now and so thankful! I wouldve ended up w one of those gaunt looks, whereas I am so youthful looking still retaining it, I once got stopped going into an R rated movie at 30 bc they thought I was underage lol. I can understand why certain people w certain face shapes would do it eg round like Chrissy Teigan bc basically that's my shape and I did say to the dr way back, I want that model look (back in Christie Brinkley Cindy Crawford supermodel era!) bc us naturally round face will never have that no matter how much contour we use! so I think in certain moonface type shapes, it's understandable/reasonable if it really bothers you. but most of the celebs and others are no that face shape and are doing it as counteraging procedures or worse, on trend. I have had nerve damage from my original procedure as part of the birth defect revision (not the drs fault, just a risk if any facial surg) as well as subsequent parotid issues and let me tell you, facial problems are extremely challenging; side effects include a numb lip, nerve pain, nodules w potentiality for cancer that I have to do repeat needle biopsies etc. all this from early neccessary facial surgery. ITS NOT WORTH RISKING LIFELONG DAMAGE for a TREND. This should only be considered for persons with medical issues or genetic/round faces if they find that intolerable and worth the risk of damage etc. There are many blood vessels, nerves, etc under thin skin and once you mess it up, there's no going back. Don't chance it. Thanks dr and this young lady who made a very good video as a public service!

He said no bc I would regret it in my 50’s as your face reduces volume at this age and I would look older and gaunt. I’m glad I listen to him as I am now 55 and my face looks actually younger thanks to leaving my 20 yr old full face alone. 😅

      @Xuěhuā it's elevating a sick-looking emaciated face.
      Ppl who can't afford plastic surgery will attempt to get this look other ways. Do you think those ways will be healthy? No.
      Back in the late 80s and 90s, we had "heroin chic" glorifying a gaunt sickly look. How many young women suffered and died from anorexia nervousa as a result of trying to restrict their food to be thin enough to fit the beauty standard.
      Myself, as a sick person with a wasting disease, do you know how many ppl started telling me how beautiful and gorgeous I looked when my face was skin and bones?
      I was a skeleton and extremely ill, but younger women especially said I looked like a model.
      Now that I've fought so hard to survive and to be a good healthy weight, now ppl think I'm insecure about my weight gain lol.
      We've completely lost sight of what a "healthy" weight looks like on women. So yes, buccal fat removal does mimic illness, and being underweight. It's nothing ppl should emulate.

      @@guntertorfs6486 Yeah, I got similiar thoughts... I think it's easier for her to critisize how much people can be obsessed with beauty standards, because she can easily fit in it, so she don't need to obsess that she can't fit when she already achieved the goal of fitting beauty standards, so she don't need to worry that it's not achievable for her... She's an influencer, after all... It's just a whim for her if she's obsessing about her beauty and acceptance problem, not the real struggle of a person who don't fit in but would like to fit and diet or undergo surgical procedures to prove themselves that they can be pretty if they want to. And even despite talking so much about how natural is good, she's always (from all videos which I've seen) presents herself in a makeup, and quite a heavy one, which comes across for me as hipocritical... But I'm forgiving her as she's doing good job anyway :) She's just basically very much the same to the people she critics (which don't invalidates points she makes actually).
      Still dunno, it's a weird that she is not going for more natural look with the topic of her channel from even just business point of view... Especially that it's not like she would need to give up all beauty treatments. Currently it's in fashion to present yourself as natural, and due to that there is wide range of treatments available, so she could easily still have multiple beauty enhancements on her which would give her much effortless look, which would suit her channel domain better... But maybe she just don't want to be hipocrite after all and pretend that she's all natural while in the same time she had permanent makeup (henna + nude lips), natural looking fake lashes, natural looking make-up no make-up and all of that stuff.

      @@magdadom2505 I agree with you that she comes across hypocritical. She can’t be this strongly against others tweaking and editing themselves to fit the unrealistic beauty standards when she has caked on make up. Like if she wants to go hard on exposing others then practice what you preach sister 🙌

      @@Panda-hf4xs she’s allowed to look the way she wants… just because she’s matching current beauty standards doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to speak out and help other people… YOU are the hypocrites in this case

    I would love to see a video about how plastic surgery ages and its reversality. Older women are often shamed for having too many procedures, so it could bring some empathy and understanding in the conversation.

    StephanieLange's video & your previous video were the only 2 I watched before canceling my buccal fat removal appointment. So it's cool to see you both in one video like this.
