Sweet. This video made me realize ive been starting my bases too low on my tulips which makes them muddy at the bottom. I gotta agree with everyone whos been saying this is a master class. Ive been a barista for 15 years and have picked up something in each vid.
You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you so much! I don't know how to convey my appreciation more than just saying thank you and creating more content. So, thank you and more to come!
Hi Lance. I just write this to say that these videos that have been uploaded by you are really helpful for people on many different levels. As a barista who has worked in the industry for 3 years and is able to do latte art quite consistently, I still manage to learn stuff from you here and there. The way you explain things is so easy to follow and understand, from how you compare to the movement of pulling up the milk pitcher at the end like a helicopter or a plane, to the wrapping of the wing. Just ask in advance, as I am having a plan to open my own cafe soon, and in my country, espresso-based coffee and latte art are very new and full of flaws. I will use those instructions of yours to probably teach someone else.
I LOVE these videos! The drawings and quadrants have helped me so much with understanding the techniques, and you dubbing over the video talking about what you're doing is awesome. I'm still very new, so I'm still practicing to be consistent with everything, but you've helped me get to a point where I feel like I actually CAN get better and not just completely in the dark about what's going wrong. And over the past week I've had a few (albeit simple) designs that I felt could have come from a coffee shop, which is huge progress! The fact that you've got a bonehead like me feeling good about what I'm pouring speaks volumes of your teaching prowess :)
Yet again, great instructional video from Lance! I am consuming these videos as fast as they are being produced - if only my skill level could keep up! Don't stop Lance 👍🏻

Once again excellent video. I just got my Slow Pour Supply pitcher and LOVE it. Thank you for pointing it out to us, and than you Slow Pour Supply for sponsoring! Still working on basic heart, but I am going to keep watching these videos and practicing.
I used a 350ml cheap pitcher before and today I received my WPM pitcher 500ml for my 250ml cup. My first heart latte art came out very good! Thanks Lance.
This is a really useful series. Don’t worry about the videos being on the long side -- if you treat this like sitting in a workshop/class, 20 minutes would be nothing. The great thing about what you are showing I think is that there is both some theory and concrete, approachable steps, so you have something useful to practice and build up to more complex shapes (that is it’s not just about how to create a specific shape). I made a lot more progress with these than with way to much time (and milk) doing trial and error.
Super work! Thanks for making it easy to understand, entertaining to watch. Love the paper cutouts for spout position guidance! Keep making videos, Lance! They’re a Masterclass!

I genuinely think everyone who loves coffee and latte art should subscribe to this channel. And as others I can't wait for your Patreon. It's nice to be here from the start seeing the channel and the community growing. Perhaps, if you're looking for ideas of possible future content, I've been thinking about one - a series of short episodes (maybe 10 minutes long) in which every episode would show a single design and detailed instructions how to create and master it (with nice drawn illustrations). To me you are a latte art god and your art is so much better than most others I see here.
Thank you. Is there a way how to send you my recent latte art picture other than Instagram (I don't have an account)? I've tried sending a link to imgur in the comment but it seems to be blocked automatically. I'd like to hear your feedback if you can find the time. Thanks a lot.

Hi im a new barista here in saudi I've liked you're video and also subscribe to your channel bro i hope iwill learn some more of your tricks and become as good as you are 😁
Absolutely! Water gives you the feeling you need for flow. Get that feeling where you have control over the pendulum, but also where the pendulum is able to complete its movement. You got this!
If I am an artist, I’m definitely going to draw a stack of high quality educational illustration cards of these , with a LH logo on the back, and send them to Lance for free, because this man DOES saves me ton of money.
Hi Lance, thanks for the great content. I enjoy all your videos and how you explain everything in detail. Can you inform me about the best cup to create latte art and which one you are using?
Very informative, liked the deconstruction method of teaching, showing the parts then the whole and the what not to do. Although missed the sarcasm and dry humor this time. Bring on more of that, I bet there’s research that says you will remember something better with humor and sarcasm 😏
I try not to force anything. If humor or sarcasm comes up, I let it come out. If it doesn't, I don't force it. I try to let my videos be organic with how the lesson is leading me. Thanks for watching!
Lance, I just started learning and you have helped a lot! I love your videos and can’t thank you enough. When I try to do the tulip my first kidney to start the da base of stacks sinks and that’s because I am trying to go a bit closer to Center of the cup, because when I move to closer to the wall off the cup the kidney won’t move 😭😭😭. What’s yours advice? Please.
Lance, love your videos! Like many others, ever since I watched your milk steaming tips I have improved so much and I finally figured out how I could improve the quality of my espresso pulls! Just one question, where do you get your mugs that you pour art into? My biggest issue is that my current mugs are too big and narrow, but I can't seem to find those wide and shallow mugs online that aren't like a set of 8 stackable cups that come in a rack... I appreciate your help and dedication to quality in your teachings! Thanks!
Yeah the ripple and pouring speed--all that is cool but that rack with the LA2A SSL, ATC monitors and the analog console?!! Where is your music?! 😍🤯 You literally have two of my favorite things in life in one video 🤣
I wish I could only leave thousands of likes to this video. I swear, every time I’m about to move one step ahead in my latte art journey, there’s a Lance Hendrick’s video to tell me how to do it. Idk how to thank you enough ❤
Man. So this one kinda helped me when you dissected it. But I'll be honest. I think I started with ripples 😂😅 so I think this just affirmed what I was doing. The water thing does help for sure. I just started doing that recently. I think I use my elbow or a combination of my wrist and elbow. I'll say it has been erratic for sure. But it's gotten better. I think my biggest problem is knowing when to stop rippling. Great video man! This is definitely something people will love! Keep em coming! I can't wait for some drip videos now! #notificationsOn #concretize
@@LanceHedrick I sent you a DM on instagram. I'm working on some swans right now but I sent you one of my most recent tulips that I'm using ripples and stacks!
Regarding the spout shape on the pitcher, how does it affect the pour if the spout-tip is more straight (i.e. vertical) compared to a more rounded of tip where, if the pitcher is upright the tip is leaning towards more of a semi horizontal alignment ?
Yes it will, but it will help regardless. Understanding how flow works in different receptacles is very beneficial. So, it will be much different for timing, etc, but won't hurt.
Great detailed video once again Lance…Thank you 🙏🏼. Just quickly wanted to ask you what cup you’re using and what size? I’m gonna take a quick guess and say Loveramics 200ml?
What size frothing pitcher do you recommend for doing individual cappuccinos? 8 or 10 oz? Straight sides? My 18 oz seems way too big for steaming 4 0z of milk on my gaggia classic.
awesome video lance. thank you again! question regarding practice: i'd like to waste as little as possible (especially precious coffee beans!). any recommendations on ways to practice? i've used water like you recommended and while it's helped me feel the rate of flow much better, it's still difficult to picture how the foam is going to interact.
What's the best espresso yeild to work off of for latte art? I usually do 18g in to 36g out, would it make my life easier if pouring in a bigger espresso base, like 45g or more? I always feel I might not have enough of a base to start with... well for now, that's my excuse! 😉
Hey Lance! Thanks to your content my latte art has been steadily improving and less haphazard. There's a ton of comments and not sure if you've already answered, but what size/brand cups are you using? I suspect I should downsize my cups as I'm using 12oz latte art cups (used to really like big drinks and wider the better right?). My pitcher in relation is 16oz. Would downsizing my cup to 8 to 10oz make latte art easier to pour and learn?
Hey Lance, great video! Any tips for pouring in smaller cups? I am big on cortado and like to do latte art, but I find myself quickly limited with the cup size with regards to space, but also cup dept (lots of swirling). Thanks!
Latte Art is doable in a 4oz, but it takes time and practice. I'd also advise doing a ristretto. As for my preferred size, I enjoy lost 6oz cups! Acme is a solid one, and loveramics
Great stuff man! Interestingly enough my monarch 2lb bag comes in tommorow and I noticed you have a sette 270 also? Interesting in the grind setting you have going for espresso? Depending on the bean I'm around 5G +-.
I wish slow pour would have given you a code for us that watch you. I ordered from your last video the pitcher you use. Be nice if they knew exactly how much you impacted their sales.
@@LanceHedrick one last question, ever used the Flair Espresso grinder, would/could you recommend it? I was thinking of ordering it, but wondered what you thought
@@LanceHedrick no, I have the flair pro 2, I meant their espresso bean hand grinder. I love love love you your content. My slow pour pitcher just arrived moments ago. Had a nice hand signed post card inside. Nice touch.
Hi Lance, would the 15oz handleless pitcher you use in this video work for me if I'm making 12oz lattes in Acmes 12oz EVO cups? To clarify, use the same pitcher for both frothing and pouring. Thanks!
man... the problem i have is that the milk or foam is never "right" enough in order to have it sit on the top. it either sinks completely regardless or it instantly lays on even during setting the base. I think having the right texture is the first step that i cant seem to get right
Man cracking coffee content aside, check out this music studio, Im new to this channel but im taking it you produce as well as coffee? Also, were did u get them blue lights? Keep up the good work!!!

Please.
Amazing! Now I understand where I'm getting it wrong.
That's actually a huge step. Stoked you found it helpful!
Thanks!
The ones I use are discontinued but here are some great ones:
Origami
Notneutral
Created co
Loveramics
Acme
Hi Lance, thank you for all your videos. How do i get clean lines in ripples?
Your "not to do" would be my best cappuccino 😆😆
This is pretty intense stuff
Yeah the ripple and pouring speed--all that is cool but that rack with the LA2A SSL, ATC monitors and the analog console?!! Where is your music?! 😍🤯 You literally have two of my favorite things in life in one video 🤣
Hahahaha pretty slick studio. Red Barn Studio! Check out their YT!
Oooh. I was looking for specifically this
Hey 14k well done! 👍
Thank you! I'm quite excited! The growth has slowed but it's going well, still. Appreciate you!
Heck yeah! That is funny. Yeah, I wouldn't start with ripples lol. Just try to use either wrist or elbow. Using both will be difficult.
@@LanceHedrick I sent you a DM on instagram. I'm working on some swans right now but I sent you one of my most recent tulips that I'm using ripples and stacks!
Looked good! Spout proximity and pushing forward could use some work but looked very nice!
@@LanceHedrick thanks man! #selfTaught #taughtByTH-cam
Love those hashtags. So stoked to be of help
Yessss!!
Thanks Lance. 👍🏻
First Comment! Thank you for the support!
Sensational! Thanks even you're bust out demo looks better than anything I achieve--ha.
Lol! That just comes with years and years and years and years and years of pouring
Hey Lance, love these videos! What size cup do you use for latte art? I've got an 8oz and it feels like I run out of room in the cup so fast.
I actually use 6.7oz haha! The smaller, to an extent, the better!
You’re amazing.. ❤️
🤗🥲thank you so much, friend!
You’re the best, thanks very much!!
Thanks for watching and the support!
great video
Regarding the spout shape on the pitcher, how does it affect the pour if the spout-tip is more straight (i.e. vertical) compared to a more rounded of tip where, if the pitcher is upright the tip is leaning towards more of a semi horizontal alignment ?
Just wondering, if I practice on curved porcelain cups, will it be a different dilemma pouring on a much narrower straight glasses
Yes it will, but it will help regardless. Understanding how flow works in different receptacles is very beneficial. So, it will be much different for timing, etc, but won't hurt.
What kind of spout do you use? Wide, narrow or round?
Great detailed video once again Lance…Thank you 🙏🏼.
Just quickly wanted to ask you what cup you’re using and what size? I’m gonna take a quick guess and say Loveramics 200ml?
6.7oz ACF cup!
Yes! Jibbi Little, I bleive, has a great video on how to use a french press and cocoa powder to practice! So does dritan alsela, if memory serves!
Lance gives you wings.
Watching this for maybe the 5th time, and only now noticing that your in a music recording studio.
What's the best espresso yeild to work off of for latte art? I usually do 18g in to 36g out, would it make my life easier if pouring in a bigger espresso base, like 45g or more? I always feel I might not have enough of a base to start with... well for now, that's my excuse! 😉
I enjoy shorter shots, so like 18in, 30out or so! For latte art, that is
I much prefer 5-7oz cups to any other sizes, for sure. Makes art easier, though it will fill up quickly! Haha
Thank you.
5 is exactly where I always start monarch!
get in.....thats friday night sorted!! practice practice practice ;)
Heck yes! I love to hear it! Tag me in some progress pics on IG if you're there!
I wish slow pour would have given you a code for us that watch you. I ordered from your last video the pitcher you use. Be nice if they knew exactly how much you impacted their sales.
Appreciate this! They take care of me and send me toys on occasion. I really appreciate them!
@@LanceHedrick one last question, ever used the Flair Espresso grinder, would/could you recommend it? I was thinking of ordering it, but wondered what you thought
Grinder? Do you mean flair espresso machine? The lever machine? If so, I just got in their new one and will do a video on it within some weeks!
@@LanceHedrick no, I have the flair pro 2, I meant their espresso bean hand grinder. I love love love you your content. My slow pour pitcher just arrived moments ago. Had a nice hand signed post card inside. Nice touch.
Oh! Haven't even heard of it haha. So, no! I haven't tried it
Hi Lance, would the 15oz handleless pitcher you use in this video work for me if I'm making 12oz lattes in Acmes 12oz EVO cups? To clarify, use the same pitcher for both frothing and pouring. Thanks!
man... the problem i have is that the milk or foam is never "right" enough in order to have it sit on the top. it either sinks completely regardless or it instantly lays on even during setting the base. I think having the right texture is the first step that i cant seem to get right
Man cracking coffee content aside, check out this music studio, Im new to this channel but im taking it you produce as well as coffee? Also, were did u get them blue lights? Keep up the good work!!!
Haha I do not but my friend who videos me does! And not sure on the lights
