Yo, I've seen it floating around in the comments but yes Judgement was made by People Can Fly! At the time they were still under the Epic Games umbrella so I still consider it as part of the Epic Games era. Sorry if it wasnt clear in the vid but I meant that Judgement was the point after which the series changed hands. Anyways hope you enjoyed!
@Calen Williams Gears 1 was first game I played and I played it when I was 5 with my Dad so you are never to young to do anything, although I was scared of the game.
These colorful armors are awful to look at, I miss being younger playing gears of war 1 and being scared of the krill and getting my ass beaten by Raam
Fenix's reaction to what Dom was doing in Gears of War 3 got me all the time, I was absolutely crushed since both Dom and Fenix were legit the calling card of the original series.
I played through Gears 5 and it was on the Xbox One, completed it once. Never again. Fucking open world parts kept crashing my console and I had to like hope that it would crash after a checkpoint and not before. I absolutely hated the game.
Especially once you read the comics. It really digs deep. The lore of gears of war is underrated, and while it might not be the best it has one of my favorite video game lore.
It’s even more chilling if you were a player 2. I would always go to my cousins house and be PUMPED to play it since i was a play station kid and couldn’t, anyway i felt connected to dom it was at his birthday party i had just bought him gears 3 the day after release on boxing day, All the grown ups would usually rip the controller right out of my hand and ignore and they made me so sad but since i bought for him they let me play it this time and it made me feel like such a badass, when dom died, me and my cousin didn’t say anything but i know we were both torn apart, it was like a real friend’s departure. It’s a strange feeling to have for a videogame character but i think it’s a reflection of real feelings i still have for the past and my family. We’re all apart now it sucks. Dom took the franchise with him it seems, he pulled the plug on it lool. So glad I didn’t play any of the other ones after 3.
For me, the first one i played was Gears of war 2 when i was 13 and it blew my freaking mind. I never felt excitement like this before at that time it was such a good game. And when gears of war 3 came out i bought it at day 1 and i was kinda disappointed with it to be honest the gameplay felt less exciting than the pervious one and dom's death made it even worse. I also never played the first one so i don't know what to say but i heard good things about it
So it's okay for you to take away that same appreciation people have with the newer games? I enjoyed the first games just as much as you but I'm not going to marginalise everyone else's experience in order to make myself feel better about my own... It's getting kind of pathetic at this point.
i was around 11 when gears launched unfortently gears wasnt my first 360 title because it was rated M.But my brother can play assasin creed egypt just like that when he got a ps4.
Tai's death was painful asf. But when it comes to Benjamin I couldnt help but cry. The entire scene of the team finding his body staying with him till he took his last breath. We didn't get character send off quite like that. But honestly the part that hurt most was Ben didnt die afraid or in fear like most during the war. He was brave, selfless, and had courage despite unfathomable odds. If you didnt see the beauty of his character notice in his last moments. Ben didnt even consider himself or his pain. The only thing that gave him comfort in passing was thoughts of his family. Remembering the days pass as he chased his brothers happy and smiling thinking in those last moments of the mother hed never see again call him inside as the sunset. I'll never forget Anthony, Ben, or Clayton. Thier story was one of tragedy or brotherhood.
Clayton is the only carmine that lives it's sad his hole family dies so he holds Anthony and Benjamin and grey plus lizzy carmine on his shoulders Strong soldier.
@@fabriciob8960 i always thought locuse were just a underground mole people evolved from stone age like an orc but nope they were created by COG i mean wtf?
Gears 2 campaign is still one of the best I've ever played. Gears 3 multiplayer was then outrageously good, and the game still looks better than the newer ones.
Gears 5 campaign has storytelling up to Gears's 2 level of storytelling, even revealing a lot of key plot details of the original trilogy and Myrrah's origins, but this video just seems to magically skip all that just to keep the narrative consistent. I like that you can play the whole game as effing jack the robot, it plays support but once you upgrade its skill tree it becomes actually fun and innovative to play, but nothing of that is mentioned here. The open world sections also something that was just skimped over, they are not just big chunks of nothingness, there's plenty of sidequests that grant you heavy weapons to put on the skiff to carry with you and more story, but again, it was glossed over.
Gears 3 was the best conclusion to a series I've ever seen and they soiled it by making more games. But As a package it's a amazing game like everything in it is great.
Gears of War: A story about soldiers fighting a losing battle but still hold onto what little hope they have. Gears of War 2: The COG have grown bolder since the last game and manage to destroy the home of the Locust Swarm but at the cost of their own. Gears of War 3: The COG are scattered but are able to band together to finish the fight against the Locust and Lambent.
gears 5 : pile of poop; new cast of shit characters, robots. crappy story telling. boohoo noone wants to give a fuck about any of it to even want to finish it. Truth is the grim feeling of the world is gone and it will almost certainly never come back until the bois are back togeather again at epic games. It should die peacefully
Gears of war Judgement: The COG has only just survived a harrowing war and are breaking under the new Locust threat. Their strategies are failing and most COG commanders won’t adapt. It is the beginning of the end.
@@erebus9217gears of war judgement aftermath: 2 cog soldiers try to get reinforcements for the final fight between the locust and the humans, but they also forgot how to hold 3 guns
My best friend and i loved gears. We played it young. Im 23 and he was as well. Sometimes we would switch off between marcus and dom based on whos console we played on but he knew i loved marcus. He died in a truck accident a couple years ago. I lost my dom in real life. Marcus and dom was the best friendship ive ever experienced so deeply from a video game.
The very first Gears of War had a captivating story that offered a horror element to it, with a unique sense of hopelessness for survival against the endless hordes of monsters, that the current Gears of War games obviously lack. It's like Halo. Gears and Halo were the flagships of the Xbox 360 and their quality has declined significantly, as the companies continue to milk the franchises, while sacrificing the quality and completely crapping on the fans that loved the games for what they were.
Well I like halo 5 though. I know it's story is awful, but I don't give a shit anymore since we killed Prophet. Anyone saying or made Gears 4 and 5 must burn in hell.
Gears of War 1 was my first ever online multiplayer experience and I always remember Gridlock being the only map I could memorise. The anxiety and adrenaline while playing in those beginning days will stay with me forever, nothing has come close since
Don’t we all, the entire trilogy remastered from the ground at 60 FPS and without MTX. They should go to the idea of EARNING skins and shit by actually playing and not buying.
@@RabiaaHQ I think it'll eventually happen because gears 5 has the least amount of players on it during it's prime which is bad, obviously they're doing something wrong
@@Chuked they will because let's be honest, gears 6 will tank I mean 5 has been out a year and 4 months and it's not Poppin and it's free if you have gold IDK I sure hope they do a remaster because fans will for sure buy it
I miss 2006 so much, I actually had an attention span and was able to enjoy games because there was no distractions. No smartphones, no social media, games was a surprise because you only see a trailer on TV or case in the game shop.
@@kpo1233 Let’s also not forget the floods of “leaks” and “insider information” basically spoiling everything under the sun about a game before it’s even released.
Easy they got rid of the gore, the good story telling, the dark and gritty feeling, and stripped the series of masculinity. Now we have a colorful cute gears of war to appease the critics instead of the dark gritty gory games with beefy ass soldiers running around cutting things in half with fountains of blood that made the games so loveable in the first place
Getting rid of gore isn't really an apt descriptor, it's more that they changed it completely. It's still there, but a weird twisted version of what was once well-tuned. Before, gore had a good balance, and accurate colours. In 4, the blood literally looks like watered-down ketchup (or a freshly opened ketchup bottle that hasn't been shaken), and then in 5 they go so balls to the wall crazy with it that it just looses all impact. Headshots were once earned, now every single thing you do pops somebody's head off. Every. Single. Thing. Limbs go flying because they accidentally stubbed their toe, every single execution turns people into sausage meat, even the simple ones. Punch punch done? Nah, punch punch chest explosion. Why? Dunno, but hey look their legs are over there. In 3, slicing somebody with the knife lacerated their chest and caused them to bleed to death. In 5, you somehow manage to rip them in half with the same exact execution. There's no balance or sense to it. I do like the knife combat addition, though.

Gears 1-3 is Gears of war to me. Dark tone, gritty image, badass main menu look/music. Idk... Gears 4&5 just don't feel like a gears game to me. Shit I'd rather play that abomination Gears Judgment then 5.
It was a dreadful allegory. It's just mental gymnastics so he can validate his own experiences at the expense of everyone else. It's just an excuse to justify the bandwagon adults create to marginalise the value younger people have with their experience. Seems like most people in the comments just want to marginalise new games so that younger gamers don't get to appreciate it like we did. It's incredibly selfish and not a bandwagon that I'm going to support. All we want to do is make ourselves more special and it's getting really pathetic at this point.
@@omnipotentpumpkin9755 'Younger audiences' need NEW and FRESH titles. Not rehashed, re-purposed garbage that spits on its own legacy. Games NEED to die. The stories HAVE to end someday. I say this with a very heavy heart. But if the 'younger audiences' don't have an appeal for the old styles and narratives, then its better to create new IPs or atleast spin-offs set in the same 'universe' in blood and Spirit. Case in point- Assassin's Creed. The narrative lost its edge completely after 3 and 4 (maybe not the in animus storylines, but definitely the overarching modern day plot, that binds the universe together). The gameplay was completely flipped on its head by introducing RPG. I don't want to play a bargain bin Witcher 3 or WoW. I know the newer audiences like them (Valhalla sales figures suggest that). But what about the legacy? What about the story? If they really want to continue this annual trend (which is a BIG reason for fatigue with the old games in the first place, and has resulted in game quality going to trash) and make RPGs, then atleast don't label them Assassin's Creed, or set them with a completely blank slate. I don't want myself tricked into buying something that is SO clearly not the Assassin's Creed that I used to play. I am not against change. But I also want game titles to mean something, not just be mere stickers to be slapped on something that is clearly not what it used to be. Just look at what Halo Infinite did. It took a hiatus after 5. For six years. Six years for feedback, user experience and development to grow. To refine the experience. To blend the old and the new. Ya know, Mix things a little. The first trailer that launched raised serious doubts over game design and graphics. So what 343 do? They DELAYED it and scrutinized the feedback. And look at the results. The multiplayer flight was a refreshing sight. I could SEE their passion and understanding of what made the old style great, while incorporating newer designs. A homage, if you will. That's what matters. Respect what made it great in the first place. Then innovate upon it. While the game is still to be launched and I have my reservations, for once Halo seems to be in the good again. That's a heartening sight. It's not easy to innovate on the stuff that people already think is great and to make it better. So, instead of repeating the same and making it go stale, it's better to let it go, and only comeback to it with inspiration. I am in my early 20s btw, so I am not ancient. XD
@@shiveshsingh3169 There's a problem that demand on games is constantly increasing, developers have to create more and more and it is getting harder to do so and keep good quality. I was 8 when I first fought a beserker in the first game, that shit was so scary to me. Gears 1 was basically a horror game and then Gears 2 mixed that with some tragedy and it was just perfect, especially Dom's story arc.
Gears 1-2 best gears forever. All that other gears crap goes straight in the garbage. I like dark stuffs BLOOD AND GORE and marijuana in the mixture of everything…
I miss all of the tech from GOW 1 & 2. Like wall canceling with gnasher, blind firing headshots with sniper/torque bow "Labotomized!" I recall there being so much more tech but I cant remember it now. After Gears of war 3 came out I stopped playing completely. I felt that the trilogy was good enough for me and I was satisfied with the conclusion of the story after Doms death. Also I remember voting for Carmine to live through the Gears 3 storyline! That was a really cool gesture from the creators since they killed off his 2 brothers Anthony and Benjamin. *RIP* Then at the end you still think he might be dead but he picks up his helmet off the beach during the closing scene. What a great Trilogy.
Yep. I mean the old dev team are no where to be around and OG players have the common sense to just abandon this so called Gears game and remove your original target audience and bring in more casuals 😅
don’t even get me started on the subreddit 💀 everyone on there defends TC for everything and says we are all haters who don’t appreciate their hard work. THEY FUCKING RUINED THE FRANCHISE
@@greedyjaguar3094 A lot of people complain on the forums tho, I mean, we complain cause we love the franchise! We don’t wanna see it lose its identity because people at TC care more about earning money than making a fun game
@@greedyjaguar3094 The subreddit is probably the most negative and toxic Gears community. I just came off of there from seeing several posts trashing the game.
As someone who has played gears of War from the very beginning since it came out, I honestly do not mind the story in gears five however the big bright armour colours and colourful weapons kinda kills it.
I also played since it came out and love the franchise, but it has its faults. My main gripe with The Coalition's continuation is they're not that good when it comes to story structure. What they have as a premise is great, but how it plays out doesn't satisfy me. Gears 5 improved in the storytelling department from 4, but I still felt dissatisfied with how they carried us through it for two main reasons. I will never forget the stressful moment of being forced to decide the fate of JD and Dale. That is not the Gears of War way, not just from a gameplay standpoint but from a thematic standpoint. Gears has always been about brotherhood, having each others backs no matter what. I would've thrown that knife right at Reyna's head, no question. But no, all of a sudden this is Mass Effect of War, we must make a choice of who to save, WTF? That ruined everything for me. I didn't even want to play anymore. And the final boss fight wasn't exciting because we already fought the Kraken in an earlier chapter. In Gears 1, we fought RAAM once, in 2 we fought the lambent Brumak once, in 3 we fought Myrrah once. All of their encounters were made to be that more memorable and surprising because it was a one time moment at the very end. So when the Kraken showed up again I was just like 😑 the whole time. As for minor problems, while I did enjoy riding around the desert and doing the side quests, I feel like that would've been perfect for DLC. So much time could've been spent on more story, but they wanted to cash in on the "open world", which is the buzz word in gaming nowadays. That aside, they really beefed up the gameplay in an amazing way. I had so much fun going invisible and knifing swarm, trying to build up a chain of stealth kills, choosing upgrades, etc. The new mechanics were an A+. The Coalition is undoubtedly talented, but I don't think they're the best best at capturing the spirit of what made the original trilogy what it was. They have interesting ideas but it's the execution where they tend to fumble the ball, with improvements here and there. I look forward to Gears 6 but I wish they'd bring back Cliffy B.
Yeah Epic Games did a *great* job with the first 3 games (the trilogy or the Marcus Fenix games... or collection) but then they moved onto Fortnite and we all know how that turned out.
I remember, gears was my first xbox live experience. I will never forget the first time a game made me cry, how dom sacrificed his life to save his friends, his brother. It killed me. Now Microsoft has killed off the rest of me.
There's a scene that describes this notion best in Gears 5 Hivebusters: Coles daughter (don't know her name, don't care either) shoots a minigun from the side of a Raven saying "back off Wakatu" when there's an almost identical scene with Clayton Carmine shooting at queen Myrah yelling "die motherfucker!" Games today have lost their heart and now its becoming extremely corporate
Honestly it really did strike me how emotionally heavy the story of these games were and how it treated the subject material with a good deal of respect. It took me by surprise for sure because I was just expecting a typical meathead shooter.

The original Gears trilogy was my favorite experience on the 360. I played through the campaigns on all 3 multiple times completing them on the hardest difficulty by myself. It was quite the experience. Me and my best friend in high school would play Gears 3 multiplayer every single day after school. From the time we got home until midnight or later we would be playing Gears. We still consider it our favorite online gaming experience together. Such a great game. We tried to play Gears 4 but it just didn't feel like Gears. Funny enough Judgement was my first and only pre-order I ever did. That game taught me that hype rarely lives up to expectation.

Let me be honest, i didn't expect such quality from a small channel, i am overwhelmed. Also yeah when playing through Gears 5, the whole time i was like it sucks how they tried many new things in campaign but restricted themselves so much in order to make the game be just like the old games. I think if they are going for changes they should go all the way and make an entirely new and innovative product inspired by the older gears games
Me and my bros would have sleep overs on Saturday, get s couple of £s from mum to buy munch, stay up all night trying to play through the entire story mode of gears 1 2 and 3, usually fall asleep before the end, or spend hours playing that horde mode, barely remember what it was called. Those were the days
Dom's death made 8 year old me cry and struggle to sleep that same night, I don't remember how old I was when I saw the scene with Maria in his arms as well, but that sent chills down my spine even when I was too young to understand it properly. The series literally defined my childhood and ment so much to me, yet in all honesty, anything after 3 I couldn't bring myself to care about, even Judgement wasn't all that interesting to me, for me killing Queen Myrrah and just hearing Marcus say "That's from Dom... and everyone else you killed" marks the correct ending to the series. There's a lot more reasons for why I dislike the newer entries though, I think the big thing is that they just can't compare on a narrative level to me, I remember Tai's death in 2, how shocking that was, and even when I had almost forgotton it, I had to see him in the RAAM DLC in 3 before it all happened, that just showed how traumatic the series was. The fact that Gears has diverged so far from that gritty depressing atmosphere is just depressing in it's own right, but I will always love Gears of War as it was one of those game series that practically raised me. Also I know I just called it "Gears", but changing the official name to Gears instead of "Gears of War", just why?
Modern Game checklist; >Microtransactions >Grindy MP to facilitate Microtransactions >Bright colours >Lower ESRB as much as possible >Female protagonist
Just because a universe is "dark and gritty" doesn't mean that it operates with different physical laws of light that suck the color out of everything. It was boring as fuck to look at and try-hard edgelord "dark and gritty" before they actually added some color.
@@alondite215 If you like colors then all power to you, it looks great as a game from the graphical fidelity standpoint, but it doesn't feel like Gears of War at all. IMO, That ''Sucking color out of everything'' is what gave it its personality, like try injecting color into 300 (the movie), and what you will get is Rise of an Empire which doesn't look half as striking or Iconic as the original and it is lacking in atmosphere, same with the Last of Us and same with Gears of War when you look at a gaming equivalent where if you go in injecting in colors for it to look pretty which is what the Coalition is doing with the new Gears as opposed to something like the Ultimate Edition of the Original. This is a game about war, a torn civilization, and monstrous beings threatening the existence of humans of that world and it's out here looking like Ori and The Blind Forest with all of those colors especially in Hive Busters which doesn't look like Gears of War anymore
@@alondite215 right only it's an organized post-apocalyptic warzone with absolutely no joy to be had and a planet just barely getting over severe nuclear fallout ontop of that. There is no color lol. At no point would there be an abundance of luscious or colorful environments with that setting. Color weakens the depth of this specific story.
Thought I was the only one who hated this more "colorful" approach they were taking with Gears... it's annoying as hell is just bastardizing the series
Wdym she was basically the main character for gears 4 and 5 and will probably continue because she’s connected to the whole swarm storyline which I find very lame like her character
I hate how in the campaign at one point they switched the chainsaw on the lancer for a grenade launcher, which was like shooting nerf darts at the Robots ( WHY ROBOTS AND NOT LOCUST ) and them dying with no depth to it. They also stuck with it and made the OG lancer harder to find, and you normally spawn with the GL version. Another E for everyone move.
Gears 5 is free with gold right now and I'm glad I'm not the only one who was questioning why the customization and store stuff is constantly shoved in your face whether you like it or not...also I miss Beast Mode from 3.
I feel you on certain aspects of 5's campaign. The main war-feel I got was consequences of actions and stakes. Lizzie dying from JD's orders, JD's protester/riot incident, and the crew not really fw him anymore because of it gave me a little sense of war dread because of the casualties suffered (plus they fulfilled the tragic Carmine death quota better than 4). I agree that things of feel more overtly friendship driven, but I can personally deal with that a little more in 5 because it has more decent weight around it.
Tbh Lizzie’s death just made me have like a gut wrenching feeling at the end.. but not in a immersed gaming way when you actually feel bad for the character, but just the fact that we got so little screen time that it felt waaaay to soon to kill her off, they killed 2 carmines in gears 5 but got little to no time to enjoy their character
Love your style of commentary, more chill and relatable then some of the others on TH-cam. Genuinely made me glad someone else saw that this series died a long time ago.
I actually liked Judgement. I loved the way the story was told through a court testimony, I loved the extra challenges they throw at you and how the characters actually stick them into their story as they’re telling it. I thought the gameplay was lots of fun, it was certainly the most colorful game in the series up to that point. Lots of good set pieces and levels too. And I enjoyed the overall lighthearted tone of the game. I was playing all the games back to back at the time, so a little brevity went a long way to break up how bleak GoW is. I also enjoyed 4 and 5. While they don’t innovate on gameplay very much, I found the stories and levels to be interesting enough to keep me playing. I never play multiplayer in any game, so I missed all the Terminator and WWE promotions and microtransactions.
I jussst played Judgement and it felt like a relief to finally get some consistent gameplay unlike 5th which i finished a few days before. Like you said judgement had such a nice way if showing itself not to mention how the chracters redeem themselves throughout situations. while it was a spin off id defenetly call it one of the most fun ones to have, going through all the declassified missions was a blast in the most fun creative ways possible
@@Ckoz2829 I think poeple hated it for the how many guns you originally could carry and how in pvp it felt you had to kill other gears and no Locust anything else besides those the game is good
The promotions of 5 is what got me to turn away from it actually. You must be very lucky or something. In a way I basically stopped playing Gears of War when "of War" left it's body because 4 was the last one I played. Once the New Day debuted (I, HATE that Wrestling Faction by the way) in 5 I hitchhiked my way out of the now christened "Gears" Timeline. Skipped Gears 5.
Because we want to have the same game every single time, eh? I do feel nostalgia from old Gears games, but I really don't mind about the recent cartoonish style, nothing is gonna beat the first games, so what's the big deal?
I'm only 6 mins in but I agree so hard with everything you say. Gears really died for me with Judgment, and honestly made me lose my love for console gaming in the process. Halo 4 and Judgment pushed me away from those franchises that I grew up with and I am so glad to see someone who remembers what Gears USED to be. Thanks for making this video!
They ruined it with all the stupid and boring robots. Not to mention the mediocre story and antagonist. What happened to all the grittiness? Also why in the world did they abandon beast mode and overrun?
You’ll be eating shit for breakfast before The Coalition makes a campaign worthy of being talked in the same breath as the OG trilogy, if their endeavors with gears 4&5 are any inclination of what’s to come, it looks pretty fucking lame.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this. =( The insane amount of love in the Trilogy even today shines through & breaks your heart the more you go on. I hated how the more I tried to reveal the other "gears" titles were ripping on the originals, the more my friends forced themselves to like these awful games - just because they feel "individual" for taking the other argument. I just could not believe they were playing Paper Rock Scissors as Marcus was in Danger. The whole ethos of GOW was lost. The sorrow in their eyes, their struggles, & frustrations as they fought for a world no longer relevant. "What's left Anya? What have we got left?" "A chance for a tomorrow Marcus" I also feel very sad for Hoffman - a man who is old & weary by the end.. yet he is still fighting because he has no choice. War is hell. It's the reason so many are not with us today. Glorying for sales will ALWAYS rub me the wrong way. And you've taken the the sagacious step to calling them out on it. Well done.
2005..New Xbox 360..New Gen of HD gaming..55 inch floor model Toshiba Tv..those were the days. The first Gears and the Xbox 360 hold a special place in my heart.
I'm a hardcore Gears fan. Definitely one of my top 5 favorite franchises ever. I'd have to agree that Gears 4 and 5 don't hit the same way the OG trilogy does. Sure the gameplay has been the same every game, they've added little bits and pieces to shake things up each game but how exactly could they change it? Idk how they could completely reimagine it like God of War did successfully. I mean Gears is a shooter and you can't change much with shooters but God of War is a melee action hack n slash game.
lol you guys are old the gears trilogy was very repetitive it was just walk and shoot the horde... gears 5 has the best balance of the series and character exploration and plot in the gears universe outside that has more variety of gameplay with steatlh and skills in the world the game has several non-repetitive side quests and
Its still the funniest moment in gaming when dom finds his wife, they have their sad moment and then he very touchingly mercy kills her....with a gun about 4x bigger than her head
I wish I can go back in time on Saturday mornings playing gears of war and enjoying a really good authentic gore campaign with decent servers for multiplayer. Man those were the days with general Raam and Skorge.
Yep and now we marginalise the value of others experience so we can feel better about our own... You all not realise that by trying to marginalise new games you are taking away that same appreciation we had the privilege of experiencing? The sad thing is I think you're aware of that and are doing it on purpose because I've noticed that all the really shitting people gravitate towards these hand bandwagons videos so it wouldn't surprise me. Learn how to be positive for the next generation like we had the privilege of and stop acting like a petulant child whenever you feel like you're losing emotional ground in an imaginary internet battle.
@@omnipotentpumpkin9755 Positive for gamebreaking microtransactions? Or annualisation of our favourite franchises to the point that they lose their entire premise? Or that horrible and unfinished games like CyberTragedy 2077 are dished out without letting anyone even review the game with their own footage? Or that game studios that treat women and minority communities like sht prance and pander about women and minority rights on social media in the face of hipocrisy? Or the utter disregard for a good story/setting/gameplay mechanics for the sake of quarterly estimates and investor pitches? Or for the horrible workplace stress in general that so many devs have to go through, forsaking their entire plan and vision, just because execs give a deadline? We are gamers just like you. We WANT you to experience the wonder and joy of games like we did (and still do, but in different ways than before). We simply don't want another SimCity 2013 fiasco. Or another Mass Effect Andromeda. Or another Anthem. Or another CyberTragedy 2077. Are all if these problems new or recent? No. They have existed for a long time (like sexism and racism). But instead of improving with time, these problems have gotten worse, and have even expanded into new issues (like unfinished games, lootboxes etc) What we DO want is more Titanfall. More Rocket League. More Modern Warfare 2019. More Crash Bandicoot 4. Maybe even more Halo Infinite. Games that realise what made them great, or with new ambitions. Good storytelling. Nice community feedback and support. Improved gameplay. But most importantly, a willingness to be honest and not deceitful. What we HATE is being tricked into buying something that we don't want. I don't want an 'Assassins Creed- Odyssey' that doesn't even have Assassins and templars in it. Or without a compelling modern day plot. Or without one hit kill assassinations. Or a 100+ hr gameplay to complete just the storyline (with majority of the time spent on mindless grinding tasks to 'level up'). Because that's NOT Assassin's creed. That just an RPG laser focused to sell you XP packs and boosts via microtransactions, with the Assassin's creed label slapped onto it. Release it as 'Odyssey' instead and make it its own thing. But that wouldn't elicit interest, and would impact sales (because it is not that great of an RPG either honestly). So what do we do? Use the title of our most beloved and known franchise to trick players into buying it, with minimal changes so that it barely qualifies as an 'Assassin's creed'. Disgusting. Let the storyline conclude and atleast die peacefully. But that would hurt the bottom line, so keep resuscitating a dead corpse, without letting it die and perhaps be reborn. Trust me, after a few years, you would feel the same when your beloved franchises get used and twisted in the same way for a newer audience. And the general gaming and media landscape is hell right now as it is, with perhaps no signs of improvement. Just like how we saw it unfold.
My biggest problem with new gears was the damn graphics. Gears 5 young Marcus skin looked like a damn plastic figure with no muscles compared to the gears 3 he was more roided out and his face had more detail and love put in it
Me and my dad both cried at Doms wife and Doms death scenes in the trilogy and we both loved and played the hell out of them. But some reason maybe it was the dozens of menus to simply play co op campaign or maybe the ungodly amount of micro transactions but 4 was such a chore to play and I didnt bother with 5
Got I miss how Gears used to be. Gears 1 will forever be a favorite of mine and gears 3 as one of my favorite multiplayers. I may like gears 5's campaign/co-op and tactics but gears lost its edge and balls.
This is coming from someone who LOVES gears of war 5 and is a HUGE new day fan. This is the best gameplay of gears 5, horde mode is refined, escape is fun, both campaigns are fire. Multiplayer is what it should be. your tone gives it off. You dont believe in the power of positivity!
The first gears was probably the best. Real dark, messed up, and gritty. The boss fights were a little bland tbh but the aesthetic of the game was amazing.
Indeed. I loved that constant fear and sense of emptyness. Gears 2 became brighter, but it also included its grim shit with the storytelling , and I loved going underground. Gears 3 was so much colorful, but it was acceptable, since we saw noticeable improvements in gameplay
Yep. The 2nd game had to much drama. The first game was about to guys getting drafted in a gothic horror world and thats how it should have stayed. Watching Dom cry over some woman and kill himself and Marcus having daddy problems is why this series is such a mess.
Gears three, Black ops 2 and Halo reach were the golden years for XBL for me when i was 12 nothing beat the feeling of doing all my homework last period just so I could come home and play those games with my friends all day. You never really fully appreciate those days until they're long gone . Oh the things I'd do to go back in time man 😔
Been saying that for awhile now. There’s so much lore that they could create games on. The lambent war with the locust would be cool to see, but I doubt they’ll ever do something like that
I remember the second time I installed Gears 5 I went to the store and saw 3 idiots in pink armor and immediately delete the game. Man I miss Gears 1,2,3 moments where characters were realistic and likeable.
They need to reboot it give us the locust back just restart I miss the old GOW the new enemies are just wannabe locusts (I don’t remember their names that’s how forgettable they are)
I wouldn’t even be mad if they rebooted the locust war, didn’t change main character events and let us follow up on a totally other random squad that goes through the war on the other side of the world, or even from the uir perspective until they’re defeat from the locust. Gow 3 raam shadow dlc was so damn good adding other soldiers perspectives in the war.
Gears 4 and 5 are dull. Characters are dull. Character talk is flat and cold "the weather is very cold" Single player and co-op is a walking simulator (Especially 5) and in 4 you spend 50% of the game shooting corporate robots. The only thing Gears 4 and 5 have is looks. That's it Me and my co-op sniper wife went back to the trilogy and we're having a blast. I know what Cole Train would have said about the Sequels. "This is Buuuullshit". RiP Dom ❤️
I remember coming home from school, I was maybe 15 or 16 years old, turning on the good ol' 360 and getting sweaty on Gridlock, Rooftops, Mansion or Fuel Depot. God damn Fuel Depot was a sick map. And on the weekends me and my cousin replayed the campaign over and over again. Now I am 30 years old and Gears of War is a distant memory. I had fun.
Gears of War 1 and 2 were dark, gritty and testosterone fuelled. Gears of War 3 was a bit more bright and colourful and as good as it was, it was the beginning of the movement towards were we are now with the franchise in 2021.....
Welcome to the new area of games looking pretty but lack more and more attention to detail and care than all that came before. Gears -of war- 5 still lacks so much that even Gears 4 had. We can't use the hammer of dawn in multiplayer, only the bots can -correctly- curbstomp, we still don't even have fucking hoffman as a playable character, so many weapons are gone and replaced with shitty gimic weapons, content that should take a couple days to make takes several months. It's so sad.
@@Erailex and General RAAM is dead but you can play him in multiplayer. Or how lambient and locust are working together. I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense as long as it’s fun.
To be fair, the DB‘s integrate well into the story. After your population was nearly wiped out, you need an alternative to human soldiers for defense purposes. However Im not saying that the amount of DB‘ds throughout the campaign is good, I‘d have to play it myself
@lucascoval828 yes but we never really saw a clear picture of what it would have been like. A few ruined shop fronts, maybe a home or two, but most of gears og trilogy was spent in back streets or warehouses, factories, etc.
It seems to be completely forgotten, but Gears 1 was directly inspired by Resident Evil 4. They openly admitted this at the time. So, the horror vibes shouldn't be surprising.
My old friend (passed away suddenly in 2009) played horde on insane together on gears 2 and got up to wave 45 in one night on gridlock. I miss him so much. I tried playing gears 3 and just couldn't get into it.
They should of done a gears of war right before Emergence day, during the pendulum war leading up to Emergence day from a regular cog soldiers perspective or even from young dom and young Marcus's perspective. Like there's so much they could've done especially with the books and it's sad to see a series that meant so much to me fall off..
I hate gears 5 so much. I tried to go back to capture the greatest of gears past, but I always remember how much I hate it! It's not fun, it's slow. Let gears die!
The game is big in LATAM, seriously, the English Gears you tubers get 5k views while the latam gears youtubers get 20k tp 100k Kenny Kent has like 10+ videos with 100k+ views each and he’s not even a TC Partner. And gears on twitch is dominated by Spanish streamers. Even English channels upload in Spanish or parts in Spanish for this reason The LATAM community is MUCh MUCH bigger
I got into Gears quite late. My friend who really loved the games got me to do a full Co-Op run with him from 1-4. When we both got to 4, we would mostly just talk about how good 3 was and how we missed the Locusts.
Halo CE 2 and 3, Gears of war trilogy, halo reach, mw2, battlefield bad company, fifa 09, GTA SA, GTA IV and even fallout 3. All these games were just absolute masterpieces. They were stunning. Each game you could just play all day with you friends, wouldn't see the sun all weekend. I miss those days, back when we were just idiots in high school with no worries or bills or complex relationships. Just some high school kids playing xbox. The best years.
GOW3 will always be one of my favorite games ever. I spent my middle school summers playing nothing but multiplayer and horde mode. In multiplayer matches, getting into 1v1’s with the gnasher and wall-bouncing was some the most fun i’ve had in a video game. Not knowing how good the other player was going to be and only the better one would be alive at the end of the encounter. If I wanted to chill, I would go to horde mode and mindlessly shoot away locusts. At the time, I believed GOW3 was the pinnacle of gaming. I loved the game so much that I went as far as to learn how to mod save files because I wanted the golden skins for my weapons and also thrashball Cole.
GOW3 multi was high skill and many new players got thrown off or scared by more experienced players in the matches, but if you could learn and begin to wall bounce and use the gnasher you could have the fun of your life trying to clutch and kill everyone to prove you were better than your opponents. There are few fast-paced high-skill games like gow3, like the down mechanic was so important for planning tactics, gow3 youtube montages had no end and were so entertaining, i ised to watch them al the time for years
newsflash casual. Gears has ALWAYS been about the multiplayer. The campaign was second fiddle. Gears 1’s multiplayer is what got it a sequel in the first place. Gears 2’s multiplayer was terrible and 3 was only slightly better. This video says gears trilogy was acclaimed and yet only the first 1 was worth a damn. The community of millions of players was permanently fractured when gears 2 launched. You kids need to get a clue.

I also never played the first one so i don't know what to say but i heard good things about it
I started plying at age 5 ;(
So it's okay for you to take away that same appreciation people have with the newer games? I enjoyed the first games just as much as you but I'm not going to marginalise everyone else's experience in order to make myself feel better about my own...
It's getting kind of pathetic at this point.

I started playing at age 24, and silla love that trilogy to death
Tell my brothers, my ma, tell em cough cough, tell em I love em
What about Gary 🥺
Wait, when did Clayton die? I remember him making it at least to Gears 5!
Clayton is the only carmine that lives it's sad his hole family dies so he holds Anthony and Benjamin and grey plus lizzy carmine on his shoulders Strong soldier.

Nah man Gears 5 looks better, better graphics but yeah nowadays it lacks that horror vibe, and yeah I prefer the enemies from 1-3 than right now.

At least Halo Infinite looks promising with their recent updates, unlike Gears 😅

@@finkamain1621 not necessarily but it’s not even comparable to the gore form the original 3, and it feels way too cartoony
Kinda like what there doing to Warhammer 40k

The fall of the Byzantine Empire as an allegory to the decline of Gears of War was genius

XD

"Choose which character to save by throwing a knife!!"
But, but throw it at the villain? She's right there

But instead of improving with time, these problems have gotten worse, and have even expanded into new issues (like unfinished games, lootboxes etc)
What we DO want is more Titanfall.

It doesn't need a reboot, they can always make more prequels since there's 17 years of war.
That's it
Me and my co-op sniper wife went back to the trilogy and we're having a blast.
I had fun.
Getting one shot from accross the map by some guy that proceeds to clutch your whole team in Fuel Depot. Fucking memorable
Yep rushing for snipe on fuel depot then trying to snipe the enemy on there roll out of the box truck lol
20 secs in and already an identity crisis is displayed to us.
Oh, Gears what happened to "of" and "War"?
Because gears 5 is not war
Probably to be more "PC". Cuz, you know, "war" is triggering
@@jonsnow1734 that's roughly what they said. "It's less edgy"
I fucking well mean it. They said that.
How come this guy doesn't even have 500 subs?! This video was so fun.
Because the hammer of dawn is offline. Dead. They literally talk about this in the campaign. The hammer no longer works.
@@Erailex and General RAAM is dead but you can play him in multiplayer. Or how lambient and locust are working together. I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense as long as it’s fun.
Ok brony
To be fair, the DB‘s integrate well into the story. After your population was nearly wiped out, you need an alternative to human soldiers for defense purposes. However Im not saying that the amount of DB‘ds throughout the campaign is good, I‘d have to play it myself
It was also interesting to see more of Sera in Gears 4 & 5.
@@lucascoval828nah, Sera felt more interesting in the og trilogy, specifically cause we didn't see it much. Gears 4 makes Sera feel way less unique.
@@nickelakon5369
We saw quite a bit in the original trilogy.
Rubble.
Poor Dom. Idk how anybody could forget finally finding his wife and when he went to join her. Believable acting in a video game; rare.
My old friend (passed away suddenly in 2009) played horde on insane together on gears 2 and got up to wave 45 in one night on gridlock. I miss him so much. I tried playing gears 3 and just couldn't get into it.
Gears of War died as soon as Kate became the main character.
They should of done a gears of war right before Emergence day, during the pendulum war leading up to Emergence day from a regular cog soldiers perspective or even from young dom and young Marcus's perspective. Like there's so much they could've done especially with the books and it's sad to see a series that meant so much to me fall off..
Gears of war ended, for me, with 3.
I hate gears 5 so much. I tried to go back to capture the greatest of gears past, but I always remember how much I hate it! It's not fun, it's slow. Let gears die!
The game is big in LATAM, seriously, the English Gears you tubers get 5k views while the latam gears youtubers get 20k tp 100k
Kenny Kent has like 10+ videos with 100k+ views each and he’s not even a TC Partner. And gears on twitch is dominated by Spanish streamers. Even English channels upload in Spanish or parts in Spanish for this reason
The LATAM community is MUCh MUCH bigger
And no dedicated servers :)
That's really good to hear actually. So there is still light at the end of the tunnel.
@@zanderpain the game has dedicated servers, it’s not off peer 2 peer like Xbox 360 games. In fact GoW has had dedicated servers since GoW3
@@flexican5399 servers located in USA, LATAM server is in Brasil ( and they took it off in GOW UE cuz muricans cry a lot)
@@zanderpain I’m Mexican but connect to USA becaus I live in juarez, us west
I got into Gears quite late. My friend who really loved the games got me to do a full Co-Op run with him from 1-4. When we both got to 4, we would mostly just talk about how good 3 was and how we missed the Locusts.
You played with your friend?
I played with my dad and he loved horde mode from 3. It might be the same but it was never borong
Fallout 3 was not a masterpiece
Man I can't wait for a Marcus Fenix Collection.
There are few fast-paced high-skill games like gow3, like the down mechanic was so important for planning tactics, gow3 youtube montages had no end and were so entertaining, i ised to watch them al the time for years
gears 4 JD was a good character addition to be honest, never expected it
You looks at gears 1, 2, and 3 and you see a war. You look at gears 4 and 5 and you see multi-player.
newsflash casual.
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF your dumb aside from backpacking in gears 2 it was gears judgement that ruined the franchise and made people turn away only to come back to a new ip in gears 4
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF Gears 2 multiplayer is what got Gears of War popular. Only a very small minority likes Gears 1 multiplayer in comparison. Tf are you on about?
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF u crazy?? Gears of war 2 it launch to the moon the popularity of the franchise, because of how mature and world building was the campaign the multiplayer wasn't the focused yet it was the campaign and coop mode, now gears of War 3 is where the multiplayer matched the campaign that it was still god like
Gears 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
