Literally every single franchise from ubisoft is a repetition of the first one who was a success. So much so that they look like mods of the previous games. I call this the ubisoft method, it works with assassins Creed for so damn long that I can't really tell if I'm crazy or everyone is just stupid and don't see they're paying the price of a complete game on mods.
I have to say, as i play through 6, it really felt different at first. The new mechanics, no more buying weapons, the crafting system, even the clothing was much more interesting because it wasnt just the same clothes with rabids on them for money reasons, but it was genuine equipment that helped you fight. The vehicle system too, honestly i really like the mechanics in 6 much more than most of them before. In the end tho, it does fall much harder back into the repetitiveness. Go collect the libertad cache, go capture a checkpoint, go try and assassinate this leader just for it to go wrong in the exact same way the last 2 assassination attempts did. I will say, where the last few games have completely missed the mark, 6 has sort of itched that scratch in my mind thats begging for another experience like 2 or 3.
Far Cry in the States should be Anton Chigurh just roaming around. Far Cry in the states turned out to be 'haha press x to pet the dog after placing them in a warzone'
The problem that Far Cry 2 suffers the most from is that Africa is iconic for its wildlife. There was just about nothing of the sort in the game. No giraffes, no elephants, no lions, no crocs, just zebra and I think wilderbeast/water buffalo. Besides that, the guns do degenerate a bit too quickly but the game is solid. Crowbcat does an excellent comparison of attention to detail. It's worth checking out just to see how little effort devs make nowadays.
@shootkill Yeah it's hard to pinpoint but whilst Far Cry 3 was fun it was the beginning of the lack of polish. I found the audio to be some of the worst and the radio towers were just damn awful. Gunplay and all was great but there's more to Far Cry than that.
Eeyeah, the Far Cry games peaked with 2 & 3 (when they did the 'standalone open world sequel' approach. I only own the first three games, because I know that the rest are just not worth it. EDIT: If you haven't played Far Cry 2, you really should.
I completely share the same feelings towards this franchise. I really really like Far cry 2 & 3. But like you said, its like two side of the same coin. The two games really are night and day difference and what it is, is Far Cry 2 had much more of a "hardcore" feeling to it. Hardcore games, usually do the opposite of making the game "user friendly". Escape from Tarkov is a perfect example of this. Point is, the more hardcore a game is, the more it focuses punishing you over giving you enjoyment easily or quickly. Comparing far cry 3 to far cry 2 is like comparing food that's cooked in a microwave and food that's got to be prepped and cooked in the oven. The thing is, Ubisoft and a lot of other AAA companies in video games are appealing to younger audiences primarily. Nd its easy to tell the difference in gameplay quality between the two honestly. Far cry 2 might have lesser graphics than 3 but it has more small details that really get you invested into what's happening. Its given to you with realism, where you cant fast travel around and you actually have to travel the map. The darker tone to it all. Farcry 2 was a proper, ADULT, realism focused, hard core(ish) experience. While far cry 3 is full of bright almost cartoony color and fast paced actiopn and all the arcade like convivences of fast travel and all that. Not that 3 was bad either its just, it would be nice to get a more hardcore & survival focused far cry. Imagine like a far cry game mixed with a bit of green hell with gun play and customization like Escape from Tarkov.

There is a formula, but it seems to work. Is Far Cry 3 the best in the series, even after FC6... yes. But did I have fun with all far crys since and am I looking forward to the DLC post launch... Also yes. It's not something they could release yearly without losing a big chunk of its playerbase, but now and again it's nice playing something familiar with different scenery, weapons and narrative. The games are nothing groundbreaking but if another releases in a few years, I'm going to buy it and have 20+ hours of fun with it. Definitely my favourite Ubisoft series.
2 is my personal favorite, but its neck and neck with 3. I hate comparing 2 and 3, though, because the only things they share in common are being an fps and the name itself. The first 3 games were Ubisoft doing that thing they do; where they make totally different games but try bank off of name recognition. Every game after that was that other thing Ubisoft does; create the same game and try and bank off of name recognition..
Gamers buying these games (including COD, NBA and Madden) are the ones to blame the MOST. They are the INSANE ones tbh. Think about it... Great video, btw!

Jason wasn't just unlocking abilities, he was actually going on hunts with his bow and knife and actually earning his proper stripes as a Rakyat hunter. He was becoming one with the Island and its culture. He started learning how to fight in an ancient way of the Rakyat people. It was a kind of spiritual marriage of the modern warfare he learned from his brother and tribal warfare. It really felt like he was becoming possessed by the island. It remains one of my favorite narratives of any game to this day.
The reason outposts worked for me in 2 is because every outpost is controlled by either the UFLL or the APR and not just convenient base full of bad guys, and the leaders know if you wipe them out they can just restock them with more goons
Fuck, at 5:37 I got a freaking Far Cry 6 ad! It was pretty smooth because after he said "I gave it the old..." and then starts the ad with "Hello, Vass" lol wtf, didn't realize that it's an ad until few seconds later
For me the main difference between far cry 2 and the others are the feeling of danger. In the other farcrys you have no danger, you are the hero since from the beginning, you have the power of protagonism. I started far cry 3 and 4 like a fucking pro, but the characters supposed to be immatures. In FarCry 2 you are nothing, you are just a guy trying to survive, you become a hero with time and effort, there is a learning curve. I started to play the game before playing Far cry 3 and 4. I tried to be a hero, kill everyone but i failed, because the place is fucking dangerous. I had to understand and learn how the game, the system, how the place works. This is IMMERSION.
Ive been a farcry fan since the 1st, back when that used to mean something. When they pushed the limitations of pc gaming, when they used monsters. When the a.i. was so advanced it rivaled that of F.E.A.R.'s clones.
My bud got me Far Cry 5 so we could play together, and I was so fucking bored from playing it that I refunded him the money and bought him another game. I loved 3, enjoyed 4, but 5 still bores me to actual tears.
While i can agree with whats said in the video, this franchise is one of those that just helps me to decompress mindlessly and have a pretty fun time doing it. I dont look for the most compelling story or mechanics when playing these games just a stress free open sandbox that i can go and hunt, fish, and create funny moments like running people over off a cliff. If depth is what youre looking for in a game then definitely dont play these but if youre just looking for a way to have a little fun after a long day of work id say go for it! Liked the video man about to check out some more of ur stuff!
That's the same with all games anymore we get a couple gems here and there, but most just gave up on actually caring about development and started finding more ways of monetization. They basically put all their effort into making it look pretty and new, but never improve on world building or the overall feel of the game.
What's the problem with outposts? The formula works. Far Cry Primal adds a lot of extras though, like bonfires and campfires, so what are you complaining about?
Anyone remember when Assassin's Creed was about.....Assassin's Creed. Remember when Far Cry actually innovated. Remember Sam Fisher.......thanks ubisoft.

4 is still my favorite. After 3 I wanted more FC and they did it better with story choices and coop freeroam. 5 was meh and had a horrible ending that ruined the story. 6 is alright but way too easy with no difficulty options. 2 is overrated. Was repetitive, had no story cutscenes, checkpoints were annoying, getting malaria pills made you do the same mission all the damn time. Stealth was bad. Had no animals. Coop would have been nice but nope. Companions were useless. Gun jam made no sense because I can't clean my guns to prevent it. For 7 they need to go for a more serious tone. More hard-core options. A new engine. A standalone free Map editor with PVP and PVE. Bring back the choices, make the world more dangerous.
Absolutely, 100% agree. 4 and 3 are my favorite but 4 is top. I’m not really enjoying myself with 5 so far because of the same reason I hate 2. Getting attacked by enemies every 20 seconds. And what you said about 2, 1000% agreed. I hear all of this talk about the game so I decided to try it for myself, and halfway through I am not understanding the point of what made the game so special to some. I like the realism like the gun jamming because it made the combat a bit more fun. But that’s all I see ANYONE who praises the game talk about that or it’s smaller details. What about the gameplay loop? This is how it went for me. Get mission, get attacked by literally fucking everyone in Africa, reach destination, kill some people, mission ends, go back yo mission givers, repeat. Side activities aren’t fun either. The gun shop missions are just go destroy this truck or convoy. THATS IT. What I’ve learned from this is that realistic aspects certainly enhance some aspects of the game, but it shouldn’t come at a cost of actually creative and fun gameplay loops. That’s what I’m happy Far Cry3 and 4 did. Keep it entertaining and engaging. Sorry to the FC2 fans, but i absolutely fucking hate the game.
5 made me love the series due to it being the most customizable don’t know about you but l loved the fangs and friends for hire systems and I hope 6 has deeper vehicle customization

Going to play Fall Cry 4 this Christmas My mom and dad let me pick out red dead and far cry 4 on the PlayStation store and they’re going to add that onto my Christmas list and let me play it on Christmas Can’t wait to try it
I really miss physics in games. They really add a huge layer to games that people don't seem to realize even more so than graphics it makes the world feel so much more real.
They should reinvent the series with 7. Combine the gritty realness of 2 with some mechanics from the later games, have a compelling villain and setting and it could be something else.
It only took me from Far Cry 3 to 4 for the formula to start feeling stale. 3 was interesting for me because the formula was new, but 4 just feels like a carbon copy with more collectibles. For me, though, the bigger problem isn't the formula, it's that it exists in a world where your choices ultimately don't really matter. In 3, the only meaningful choice you make is at the very end. The gameplay was so novel though, it didn't really dull the experience. In 4, you can choose between the Golden Path leaders, but they're both terrible. The antagonist implies that you yourself were meant to be the country's leader, and you even have the opportunity to kill the leader you chose, an action which results in... nothing. No achievement, no recognition from the NPCs, not even that their leader is dead. It just feels like such a sterile environment. You can't talk to anyone outside of missions. NPCs don't have names, lives, meaning. Even coming out a year after GTA V and 3 years after Skyrim, for an "open world" game it sure feels like you have less agency in the world than the linear RPGs of the past. Maybe some of my disappointment comes from that disconnect - that in an open world game I expect my actions to have some kind of consequence. Like, what's the point of being able to "go anywhere" and "do anything" if I can't have an impact on the world around me? I don't know - in the end it's still a fun game, the gameplay itself sneaking around an enemy outpost and methodically taking down their guards is addicting. But I finished 3 and Primal and then stopped playing 4 about halfway through because it just wasn't fun anymore. They never made me care about the protagonist, the people, or the world I was supposedly "saving".

Ur not crazy , gamers are just retarded

Far Cry 2 is one of best. We need remaster or remake. But with all those features like healing animations, desteuction of surroundings etc 🙂
Bro i actually completely agree, defo some improvements, but dragged later on
8:40 Michael Myers is that you?
4 is worth it and 6
@Sean Edward Diaz 6 is good, it had a good amount of gunplay and action. The story is kinda meh but its still good nonetheless
Eeeyeah, na

Bang reshi spot on! Personally i thought they peaked at FC3
When you do rock climbling in real life and love hiking in the mountains you can't just ignore Far Cry 3 and 4. These are my favourites. Gonna give Far Cry 5 and 6 a shot also.

Damn bro you have -1 dislike- that’s a damn good ratio. Great video btw
Ive been a farcry fan since the 1st, back when that used to mean something. When they pushed the limitations of pc gaming, when they used monsters. When the a.i. was so advanced it rivaled that of F.E.A.R.'s clones.
Farcry 2 was awesome. I remember thinking i beat the game and then a whole new chapter begins.
My bud got me Far Cry 5 so we could play together, and I was so fucking bored from playing it that I refunded him the money and bought him another game. I loved 3, enjoyed 4, but 5 still bores me to actual tears.
Underrated channel
The fact ubisoft charged almost full price for far cry new dawn is criminal it’s dlc at best

The best thing about both Far Cry 5 and 6, is the random plane suicides, cause the AI can’t tell there’s a mountain infront of them
Insanity is buying the new Far Cry knowing it'll be the same as last time and still enjoy it
the moment they showed that trailer, gaming was already fucked

I just miss the mutants from Far Cry 1, these games need more enemy variety, like with the Blood Dragons themselves.
Ubisoft has become the very thing they swore to destroy
In 10.000bc people still used flip phones, can you imagine how ancient those tribes were ?
I love how everyone forgot fc new dawn.
5 made me love the series due to it being the most customizable don’t know about you but l loved the fangs and friends for hire systems and I hope 6 has deeper vehicle customization
