Tesla Model Y - There Is NO WAY This Is This Cheap!! Best Deal Yet On New Tesla Model Y Deliveries
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 พ.ค. 2024
- Since the Tesla Model Y was first released in 2020, I have been tracking and reporting on pricing of the flagship Tesla. Although we saw massive price increases in 2021, we finally saw significant price decreases in 2023, following the implementation of the EV Tax Credits.
Prices have been overall steady this year, although there have been a few changes. At the beginning of the year, the EV Tax credits began eligibility to be transferred to the dealer and realized as a point of sale tax credit. The benefit of this is that by transferring the credit, you dont have to worry about having enough tax liability to cover the full $7,500. However, you still have to meet income cap requirements and the vehicle must be under MSRP limits.
The thing is, these tax credits are specifically for new vehicle purchases. For leases, you as the buyer dont get a tax credit, kind of. The bank, or manufacturer gets to take the full tax credit and is allowed to handle the $7,500 as they wish. Some manufacturers apply none of the funds to the lease, while others apply the full amount. In the case of Tesla, starting this year, they finally started applying the full amount to leases.
This means that Tesla is applying $7,500 towards the depreciation of the Tesla Model Y in the lease. This significant application of cash makes the lease on a new Tesla Model Y extremely low, and certainly cheaper than most other gas car equivalent on the market.
This Lease "loophole" actually allows everyone to qualify. You dont have to be under income limits, meaning even if you make too much money, or the vehicle you are looking at wouldn't qualify for the battery component requirements, the lease option applies to most EV's on the road today, within MSRP limits.
As we are coming to the close of Q1, I have been watching Model Y prices, and recently saw something that couldn't possibly be true. The payment calculator on Tesla's website showed an almost unbelievable payment on a brand new in inventory Model Y. I also have an incentive as a Cybertruck reservation holder for an additional $1,000 off a new Tesla. When combined, it actually means that the base Tesla Model Y can be had for under $300/mo.
Now I am not suggesting leasing is the right or wrong thing to do, or that its better or worse than a purchase, I am simply sharing what I have found on the affordability on a car that is far more sophisticated, has far more tech, is in a class of its own in safety, and all for costs lower than most run of the mill entry level cars.
This shouldn't be possible, but here we are. The affordability of a Tesla Model Y is at levels that make no sense. Once the quarter is over, these discounts usually reset, so this may be the best time to consider a new Tesla Model Y, because we already know that on April 1st, prices go up $1,000.

This free advertising that so many passionate people are willing to do for Tesla, must infuriate the competition and the advertising industry.
i was actually thinking about this today! You are totally right!
Nothing beats spontaneous word of mouth advertising... the holy grail of sales and marketing ; )
Yes, but also look what he's promoting. An insane price cut. So actually he is giving people a heads-up on how to get a great deal and save money. The competition can't cut prices like this either! Especially with a great vehicle like the Model Y. I just got the latest update and the cars can VIRTUALLY drive themselves. FSD= Full Supervised Driving now. But the time will come, when it's Full Self Driving.
You sound like you work for tesla
@@josephhaidar4630 I don't work for them, but I am an adequate shareholder.
After 1 year of research and waiting for the “perfect” price, I bought my first EV (2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD with 14,908 miles) for $42,990. I couldn’t be any happier. Thanks for the videos you and others put out.
I believe my new MYLR 2024 was about 40k. This already includes the 7500 rebate, a decent downpayment, and an inventory discount + interest rate from loan. Are you located in the US? $43k for a used one doesn't sound bad, but it's not good either. Not trying to disrespect, just genuinely curios if you were aware how cheap the 2024 models for US based customers.
@tomcruise3003 Again, I paid $42,990 out of the door. No financing. Forgot to mention that. If I build a MYLR as of today (3-28-24) the way I have my vehicle configured before taxes, fees, financing fees and incentives, it’s $54,630. After probable savings, $41,890 (before taxes, fees, and financing fees). I truly understand your point of view but everyone situation in buying a vehicle is different. Even on Tesla website, preowned vehicles didn’t compare to the deal that I received back on February 18th, 2024 when I took delivery. Feel free to add anything else that I now may of have forgotten.
I just googled, 2022 model Y long range, 31,000 miles, $30,695
model Y 2021 longe range, 34,000 mile $25,999
@frankcheung99 I paid $12,295 more for less mileage. 16,092 to be exact. I’m okay with that.
The problem with Tesla lease is you don't have the right to purchase the car at the end of the lease.
This was stated clearly in the video just FYI
Typical Elon scam
exactly. no thank you. I have leased 10+ cars over 20 Years, 4 MDX, 2 TL, 2 Maxima, 1 Leaf and one Honda van and I always had option to lease, means I can sell to anyone, which I did drove earn depriciation and sold it more then what I owe and paid the loan and leased another one.
Lmao why the HELL would you want to purchase a vehicle at the end of the lease. Lease is how SMART people use vehicles. Rich people who understand money and debt leverage dont buys depreciating assets. If you lease it there is ZERO reason to keep it at the end when its about to be out of warranty. DUMB
They also will nickel and dime you in terms of damage when you return it. I’ve heard of Tesla lessees being charged extra for what would be considered normal wear and tear by most other car manufacturers
Nice work spreading the word
Took delivery a month ago and love it!! I also have drive protected full matte ppf coming in soon!
Planning on buying one today!
So could you just reserve a CT now to get the discount or does it have to be existing?
Got up just in time for coffee and the news. Great coverage again.
Excellent video thanks
$4,400 is not offered on Tesla website. Just checked as of 04/06/2024.
Got a new grey Model Y long range, seven-seater, white interior, 3rd row seat and tow hitch for $41,250 this weekend! was the same price as my standard range rwd model 3 from 2 years ago....
Was that with the tax and fees?
I got 2024 Y long range with tax/title (excluding $7500 federal credit) for $47,150.
Great video. I'm Waiting for the Model Y refresh, Model 3 refresh looks amazing but need little roomy car.
You forget to mention the $4000 deposit you need. Most people working $15/hr jobs don't have $4000 saved up. Also, insurance will be more expensive for a leased Tesla.
You are correct about insurance the insurance on my model Y was more expensive than my BMW X5
Right. So they should not be buying a new Tesla.
What is the insurance cost on tesla in Canada?
You specified the $7500 IRA rebate applicable for a lease. What about the same for a purchase from Tesla sales?
I wish I lived there, that price is amazing
Got my 2024 model y performance white interior amd tow hitch for 43420 after all incentives in northern california 😀 can't imagine a better vehicle for the money
Nice video!
I just did this on Saturday, with a long range model Y
We just picked up a long range, marked down to 44,090 then since Maryland is giving $3000 we got $10,500 back. In Maryland it is actually close to the best deal you can get on a new car.
I purchased a rwd 2023 model 3 and a 2023 long ranger model Y about a year ago ( when the price reductions happened). So far the model y has 21k miles and the model 3 24500 miles.. no issues
No dpwn payment on a lease is usually the best way to go.
Exactly you might as well light that money on fire because you’re not buying a car you’re renting it after the lease term you have zero to show for it you should just threw away that down payment, the lease holder gets all the benefit as they own the asset.
rwd and awd suspension exactly the same?
No better time to become a Tesla Owner. We took delivery of a Model Y on Sunday!!!
Congrats!
Paid in full or Finance? If thru finance, how much is your monthly payment and insurance?
Made that mistake. Our family had 3 Tesla’s and we sold them all for a huge loss and life is much better now. Horrible vehicles.
@@JetFire9 thanks for chiming in with a worthless post.
@ph5548 if they are horrible vehicles, why did you buy 3?
Good vid. They should make sure they use my referral code. 😅 we bought our Y during the discounts in Jan. MSRP was 51,200, discounted to 44,900 minus $7500 up front. It was too good not to do. Love the car and it’s been nothing but perfect for commuting and road trips.
What’s your referral code ?
@@xendi4788 Mine is on my channel but you might want to use Bearded Tesla Guys code since this is his video. 🙂
In Sacramento and Bay Area , Model Y long range was -5000 price adjustment
They don't give you market down discounts on a lease.
Just got one. 7500 + about 2500 off. Long Range AWD about 43k total. Estimated gas savings this month already $203. Insurance not too bad.
I just did one in my state for the long range model Y $0 down 36m/12kmiles came out to be $525/month with $3823 due at signing
Incredible for a LR AWD
I recently drovea rented standard range tesla model 3. I loved it. I am thinking about getting one, but it will most likely have to be one with higher mileage.
You should be fine. Make sure it’s built after April 2019 and that it has Hardware 3
@RayNLA thanks for your insight. How can I tell that tuw car has hardware 3? Honestly, I am looking at the 2019+ cars. Also, do you know which model 3 cars have the 4k used car credit?
Were waiting for the refresh next year.
Not gonna be anything crazy. Just check out the 3.
@@DukeOfAss84 price also going up. . . I'll take the 1k+ discount now. . .
value for money 🤩 indeed 🍻
I scored a new (not demo} $35,220 LR ModelY... 40k OTD financed @6% (default Tesla rate these days). And i got a loyaly 10k credits which got me acceleration boost 😎)

6%…😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@XX-166 is there a better rate out there? If so, where?
buying it outright :0 sucks to suck i guess@@damesd
@@damesd there are credit unions but ultimately it depends on your past ability to pay your bills and overall credit worthiness. You got banged but if your credit score is below 750 then it’s par for the course. It’s your job to find the lowest rates and shop around.
how did you get those credits?
Yo, when is part II of the cross country EV truck race coming?
Can you suggest for Canada?
Looks like the refreshed Model Y might be coming soon.....?
But one is paying around $7k per year before tax in added costs just to run a lease, based on 7% finance.
Over 9% just checked yesterday
Yes, too bad you can't buy at the end of the lease. I made out line a bandit on my 2015 Leaf years ago. I still have it, although it could use a battery replacement! Currently I'm sitting here getting further upside down in my 2021 Model Y. Should have sold it 2 years ago! Once the refreshed design is out, the value will really tank.
My Friend just picked one up
Today in CT , just FYI the he couldn’t use my referral because-it is a lease
That's unfortunate. I used my brothers referral and I am leasing.
Very informative vid. I picked one up in late Feb with a great discount, too. Biggest question now: do you know or can you find out from a reliable source which of the two Model Y 19" OEM tires will have the best efficiency? Seems like it's between Continental and Pirelli.
Pirellis are super noisy, the factory continentals lasted me almost 35k miles on my 2020 MYP
Ugh, just cancelled my CT reservation earlier this month. 😂
Awesome deal, but not for me, because I've already put 89k miles on my 2020 Model Y, so would've been over the lease mileage limit in the first year alone lol. These things are really fun to drive, or let the car drive for you on long road trips.
But for others, wow, if you're in the market for a new car, it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
I bought new 2024 Model Y inventory with $3000 discount last month, lol.
Wow . Such a great price . 😲
Great video
How much is insurance? If we buy, we could saving on having to buy full coverage.
Picking up a MYP tomorrow with $5,500 discount.
I bought the model Y rear wheel drive end of 2023. fresno build. Can anyone shine light on what or how big battery on this . I charged supercharger v3 . charge speed up to 250 kw and about 50kw at 90 percent . i think this has bigger battery with software limit?? thoughts
Just started looking at Teslas, and it must just be me, but I'm not a fan at all of the MY...I'm talking bout appearance. It just looks weird too for me. I was looking at getting a used M3 but I really like the new refreshed model so I'm gonna wait till next year and try to get a used 2024 M3. Good video!👍🏻
You wont get the tax credit on used… so youll pay the same. Just buy new.
@@HansProbs I believe the tax credit only applies to the performance trim, for now.
@@wsells tax credit may be incoming on all M3’s. time will tell. just seems like buying used is too much of a gamble compared to spending a bit more for a new fully warrantied tesla when they are being sold at these historically low prices. also the new MY may change your mind regarding appearances. the extra space all around is soooo worth it
I would go with the performance ⚡️😎
I had the model y long range for 3 years and nothing but problems. The claim range was nowhere near, you can't take it on any long trips, and there's a reason why it's so "cheap". Now there are so many better options available. I would never recommend to get a Tesla. I don't get me started with the customer service or lack of.
Today I traded my 2021 Model Y LR for a new 2024 Model Y LR in Ultra Red (gorgeous color)! My LR was discounted $4600 AND color was free ($2000) discount and a $1000 cybertruck reservation discount ($1000) or $7600 discount. Add the $7500 upfront Fed discount for a total of $15,100 savings. My total out the door (everything included) with trade was just under $9800 for a 3 model year newer Y with more upgrades (tow package and wheels). Insane discounts right now.
Isn’t color discount only 1k
@@amerkhan4672 Since ultra Red costs $2K, they discounted it $2k. Whatever the color costs, they discounted it by that amount. The other option they offered, is free interior upgrade, but you can't do a color and interior discount, only one or the other. For example, someone buying the stealth gray free color, could upgrade to white interior for free or a $1000 discount off of sticker.
Yeah I read it’s whatever is lower. They only gave me 1k off for white seat since black ext is 2k
Did you have black seats?
@@amerkhan4672 Yes, our seats are black. As much as we like the white seats, with dogs and grandkids, white didn't make sense this time around. If we lived in a hot climate, I would have gone with white.
Wow great deal! Do you know how the tax credit works in terms of you proving your income? Do you just show your paychecks for the month or do you know how that works?
You only have to tell the dealer that your income qualifies. They don't verify, the IRS does when you file your return.
@@georgepelton5645wow, easier than I thought, thanks!
The credit goes to the dealership (the owner) because it's a lease and not a purchase. The dealership pass on the savings to their customer. The same reason it's instant (up to the owner) credit. No need to worry about income verification. You can even lease 200 EV cars from different dealership and saving is (200X$7500) but the dealerships deal with the govt credit later and not you.
The lease milage limit will drastically increase this price however.
I just put down, online, for a Y performance. It was $5300 of the price and thats before the tax credits.
I had to jump on it.
Time to sell my Model S
I got my MYP on the last day of March, taking advantage of the $7500 credit + $5450 inventory discount, bringing the total *out the door* price down to $47k. That same car is now $1k more.
I got 10,000 supercharging miles also. Floor it every stop light haha.
Great facts. Clear, concise, and informative presentation. Thanks, BTG
That's still $15K more than a Kia Forte LXS. Tesla has 4/8 year warranty, while Kia has 5/10 year warranties. My Forte has a 480 mile range, the Tesla Y (in ideal weather / terrain conditions) - a 260 mile range. I see the Tesla Y is the best selling auto for 2023, but c'mon - still got to do better.
Kia Forte LOL, of ALL the comparisons one could make…
When are you going to make a video of how Tesla vehicles have depreciated in the past year?
Im going to get rid of my 2018 toyota sienna and upgrade to the model Y soon. Getting rid of my ICE. This year i think its the best time to buy a Tesla EV.
So pay an average of 300 x 36 = 10800 + down payment and own nothing but sign a new lease 3 years later. Makes a lot of sense.
Makes more sense than paying 70k for a car that Tesla then drops price by 15k a few months later and then after a few years you are stuck with negative equity in that car (this happened to me and I'm sure many others)
Yeah, its amazing the mental gymnastics people go through to try to justify leasing a Tesla. Lease in general is a horrible idea. Tesla needs to discount the sell price on top of already knocking 7,500 off the price with the fed credit. That should tell you something if people care to pay attention.
Although it wouldn’t apply to this particular MY since it’s the free color stealth grey, there is also a free any color discount til the end of the month as well.
I like it, they made a Smart move in making it, I wasn’t gonna bring up the cyber truck, but every time I see it I have to say why?
With sales going south on everything you would think they would allow purchase again.
The $7500 applies to purchases too, not just leases. 10,000 mi a year is ridiculous. My MYLR is 4 months old and I have 8,000 miles on it already. With so few miles allowed your savings on gas is negligible. 10,000 miles a year is 833 miles a month. If your ICE car gets 30 mpg then your total fuel cost for 833 miles is about $90 a month. Most leases charge $0.25 for each additional mile driven so I guarantee that any savings you think you are getting will be consumed by those extra mileage charges.
10,000 miles per year number is industrywide, it’s not Tesla specific.
Youll pay .25c per mile over 36000 miles and it something to consider. It adds up..just saying. Speaking as someone who just returned a ling range model y. Incredible car.
You can increase or decrease miles and time on the lease to what you want
@@BeardedTeslaGuy that must be a new thing because I tried and they told me they were unable
Well brother, you forgot about adding to that $282 car payment the insurance payment😂🎉😅
My Tesla model y insurance in MA was nearly 50% more than our BMW X5 which cost $20000 more
It certainly is an excellent time to buy/lease Teslas. However, many old owners are still making payments for their expensive Teslas and they are under the water, including myself. Plus, the recent negative publicity on EVs in general does not help the new sales. I was thinking about switching my current 2021 M3 to the newer MYs but my resale value is simply not negotiable. Plus, the higher rate also hinders new buyers. I love my M3 and MY. But, buying another one for my family isn't considered while we need another vehicle. We are considering a Grand Highlander Hybrid for our family and comfortable seats. But, I am still jealous towaeds any new buyers of Tesla out there.😮💨
The problem I read a lot is the huge insurance to that lease compared to almost any other car.
Don’t hear anyone adding that huge detail to the monthly!!! Why ??
Clearly it’s a huge ! part of the cost not an option.
When we bought our Tesla I checked with insurance company re rates first, they locked me in.
You should shop your rate. My wife is an agent and she does not see any significant between EV and ICE cars. Driving record, credit and vehicle location matters a lot in this. My own insurance would go up just by moving five miles south of where I am now. So shopping around is best thing to do.
I don't think so, I had I had 2 leased cars and I was paying 450 for 6 month full coverage. the MSRP for each car is 50K plus. I was thinking about leasing or buying Y and call my Esurance and they actually told me my insurance will go down by $75 for 6 month. but then I decided to stay away for Elon's Black magic.
Huge insurance? I have my insurance thru Tesla (Yes, Tesla has their own insurance) it's roughly $44 a month for our Tesla Model S. A fraction of the price of any other insurance company.
I didn't notice any real insurance difference between our new Model Y and our 10 year old Subaru. I think the decrease in casualties and injuries (Teslas are much safer than anything else on the road) offsets the rate.
What do you do when it's cold outside and you stuck in traffic....your battery will die faster in the cold....now your stuck
As a Tesla owner , I can say, its the best car ever!
100% facts. I just leased that same car this year with the black rims. My payment is $400. Saving money monthly and driving an amazing car. My Kia K5 GY was $440 a month + gas. Everyone thinks I’m balling at work…truth is, this is the cheaper option. Amazing.
Just Got my New 2024 Model Y Performance. Huge Discounts PAID CASH $36,500 ALL in. In 2022 they wanted $64K. How the mighty have Fallen.
How did you get it that cheap? My local dealer has no markdowns right now
@HansProbs local dealer in South Florida are you in a different State ? Also $7,500 credit applied to sale off the top.
I bought picked up my model y yesterday , I’m trying to figure out how to get a copy of the purchase receipt . I’m figuring out if they put the tax credit of 7500?
Another important note, it does not come with a EVSE or "charger" so if you are new you have to buy one.
How do I know the $7500 is applied to the lease and what is the lease interest?
It's spelled out in the contract. All car builders are including this.
I picked up a blue with white interior LR AWD for $45400 on Dec 30, 2024! Such a good car!! I haven’t had to go back into service for ANYTHING 2600 miles in. BTW here I’m getting 275Wh/mi which is better than the 320 mile 276Wh/mi EPA rating!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
What surprised me was Tesla using ported subwoofers in the Cybertruck (and maybe in other models too, IDK). A sealed subwoofer sounds way better than a ported subwoofer, but it does use a little more electricity, which is probably why they chose the ported version. But when I get my CT, I'm changing to sealed subs.
yeah price is great, but newer refreshed model is coming which has much nicer bumper than this version just like model 3, so you're going to have car kind of outdated look very soon. i'd wait for newer version, unless you need car now, then why not.
Got mine last month. Don’t care for the new refresh model as these 2024 ones are the cheapest it has ever been. I’m not gonna wait for the new one and then have zero federal credit and cost $50k. I’m good. I love the features of this current one. ride is smooth. Has stocks. I don’t care for glowing lights inside the car or ventilated seats cause I ain’t a sweaty back person like most. Super happy w mine and I love it. Good luck to those who are risking to wait!

lol. Let’s talk about insurance for this car. People don’t calculate that which is probably at least double from what you pay for regular car and at the end it is not very friendly or affordable. Good luck.
When a payment late, car drive back to dealer by self driving. Lol.
hahahahahahaha
I recently purchased a Model Y three weeks ago. I have already driven 1,807 miles and saved $274 in gas!
You drive a lot!!
But doesn’t insurance cost significantly more? Curious what the net cost savings are..
@@paullee9982 I pay $820 per 6 months for my 2005 Volvo, and $1212 per 6 months for the 2024 Tesla Y. I have good coverages, so I could reduce the cost by having lower coverages. Tesla is $12/mo for comprehensive and $44/mo for collision. The Volvo is $6 and $15 per month, but of course is worth much less. [$1000 deductibles]
@@paullee9982I just got my model Y 8 days ago (brand new) and my insurance is $210 per month compared to the $200 it was on my old car which was a 2010 328xi BMW. Probably helped that I have no accidents and haven’t had a ticket since 2008. But insurance wise it worked out well for me.
Does the RWD have 2170 cells as well?
It has a different chemistry called LFP that's best summarized as minimal fire risk cheaper to replace and sensitive to cold so preconditioning is a must BUT you can charge to 100% so the difference in range is not as much as it looks
@@memecat57 Thank you. I saw another video of the charging comparison btw, RWD, AWD LR & Performance and all were 2170 cells. Tesla actually has reserve cells to unlock which you will have to pay for to get more range. Tesla is getting clever. ⚡️🤓
@@gust9464 that's interesting and would be really good for long term battery life. If you only charge to a maximum of technically 70% because of those reserve cells your battery will last a very long time 🥰 I forget who it was but someone did a whole video on it if you search 2170 rwd you might find it 🥺❤️🥰
Ummm forgot to consider your mileage of cost savings vs gas
6:49 Why would we buy the AWD? Because we live in snow country.
This reviewer is very biased
Where in orlanda is this i know someone in the matket for model Y
My question is, where does the $7,500 tax credit go? You said to the bank or tesla, but where is that $7,500 reflected in the price/payment for a lease? I'm assuming that's how you get the "low" lease payment? I've never leased before, but have considered a Model Y lease. It would be nice if the $7,500 could go to the down-payment/taxes.
he shows the payment before taxes and fees, what's the total payment? and how many miles per year?
It is a line item on your sales agreement that says pos credit -$7500 or something similar.
where does the credit go? The amount is removed from what you owe. You get the discount at the time of purchase, you don't have to wait for a tax return. Your total includes the discounts already subtracted to reduce the price.
@geniegogo I'm talking about doing a lease. I know when you buy it comes off the cost of the vehicle. I'm asking what benefit comes from the $7,500 when doing a lease.
you can't purchase at end of lease so Tesla gets the credit but maybe you get some savings in the payment@@geniegogo
Why would you put a down payment on a car you can’t buy at the end of lease.
Amazing deals!
The problem with going with a lease is that (besides being limited in total miles per year) if you add the down payment to the monthly payment ($3,999 divided by 36), it's another $111 dollars per month, so the $282 for the standard range turns into $393 before taxes. Or $437 for the long range. And at the end of 3 years you don't own it. Which, if you plan to keep it for many years, it's bad. But if you plan on getting a new EV after 3 years, then it's pretty good.
The point of a lease it’s not by a depreciating asset, rich people who understand money in the leverage of debt don’t buy vehicles it’s financially ignorant. If it flies, drives, floats or fucks lease it.
It’s a half empty half full situation
Have you seen the price of used EVs?
Only idiots lease cars....there is plenty of data to suggest most millionaires BUY a 2-3 year used car and not lease (around 55% based on research in books like The Millionaire Next Door). Lease is widely known as one of the worst things you can do with a purchase of a car.
@@Tech_Geek247 lmao NO
Bro, you love the cars, you love the company. Don’t skip buying the stock, out of some stock pump concern. Just be open about it. It’ll add doubt to doubters, but they are unreachable anyway. No loss.
Kathy Wood has been saying it will go to $3000 but that hasn't happened and she said it some months ago.
@@abc123fhdistocks are funny things. The value is not evident to everyone right away. Tracks Teslas stock history from 2017 through 2021. You’ll get a clearer picture of what is going on.
Tesla doesn't offer buyback option with lease so the better option is to purchase
😂. My tax credit is 6.4K and when you buy a car they said you got 7.5k 😢 I am read mad
