    Very thorough! I love the effect of adding a bit of dead sticks! 😊

    Thank you for sharing this with me
    My husband used to help me with all of this at Christmas this was my gifts to everyone on my list and weddings were always live greens .
    But my love passed away and now I don’t do anything
    But that’s for the lovely memories.

      Completely agree with Buzzlife. You must do it again as a beautiful tribute and remember in his honour. I am so sorry for your loss but I’m sure he’d want you to keep making. Thank you for your comment and sharing.

    This is by far the best tutorial - I kept on losing it so now I’ve found it again I’ve hopefully saved it to where I can find it as tomorrow my friend and myself are going to attempt your version, you’ve given a lot of helpful tips - thank you and I do hope I don’t lose you again😂😊🙀

      Thank you for you kind comment and wonderful testimonial. I'd love to know how you get on. Have you found out how to save videos? They don't make it easy. This is what I do - click in the '3 dots' to the right of the video title beneath the video. Click on 'save' and 'watch later'. Then to find them, click on the main menu, the three horizontal bars on top left, and in there is 'watch later'. Hope that helps. You should also find it now in notifications since I have replied to your comment! Thank you again. Happy Christmas!

    Thank you. Having breathed in floristry foam when I unpacked it yesterday and ending up with a burn down my throat and into my lungs I have been looking for ways to dress my mantle without ever using foam again. This is perfect.

    So wonderful to see the old way of making a garland! I plan to collect things next Fall here in Washington state to make a very special one for our front porch and our daughter's.

    This was amazing thank you. I have never made anything like this before and the result was so professional and exactly what I wanted to create. I note how important it is to attach the new piece to the previous piece to create one long & strong garland. Or you’re in danger of picking it up at the end and it flopping all over the place. Thanks again!

    Filled me with enthusiasm! I'm off to see if I can scrounge enough folliage to make a garland at least long enough to go over front door, but hopefully down one side as well. Thank you for a really clear helpful demonstration

    beautiful work , im so glad to see your vdeo . what you do to make this fresh and not drying ?appreciate the tips

    • @flowergrade
      @flowergrade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This Garland used materials that don’t tend to dry out so fast but If it’s in a warm house, we mist with a water sprayer or lay it on the grass overnight to pick up dew and rehydrate. Than you for watching.

  • @lynnechinnock4020
    @lynnechinnock4020 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Absolutely beautiful, thank you. Can I ask would you not put small bits of holly & ivy?

    • @flowergrade
      @flowergrade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use holly and Ivy. It tends to dry out quite quickly and the shine fills. Here we used fragrant pines, for, eucalyptus and dried pieces which has much longer longevity and the grey looks lovely as it dries off. Like Cissy says, just mist or lay on the grass overnight to rehydrate and keep evergreens moist.

    The wire that you referred to must be floral wire is that correct? I am trying to find it in the store.

    • @user-ew8rd5td4f
      @user-ew8rd5td4f 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it is florist wire, you can buy via the internet.

    • @flowergrade
      @flowergrade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just waist C Grump says! It is a thin gauge and now you can buy it more easily. Or try your local florist who usually is happy to sell you a reel! Or a garden centre!

    Lovely, how long roughly would your garland last out of water? Thanks

    • @flowergrade
      @flowergrade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on the materials you use (traditional english evergreens tend to be best cut close to the occasion). When we make a foraged garland, we store it outside (it will last many days on the grass). Make sure it’s not too soalked when you need it. Another trick is to put the garland on the lawn at night if you intend to use it for few days. Alternatively you can favour materials that will dry well, together with teasel and other dried beauties for a trully changing effect. Please be extremly cautious if you use candles amongst your foliage, most evergreens are quite oily and potentially very flammable !

    How are pine cones attached ?

    • @flowergrade
      @flowergrade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, we use the same type of wire to secure pine cones to the wreath - the wire slots itself between the scales and you can tight it to the central stem that way, hidden from sight - tweest it around the back 😉
