I live in Southern California, in the past I've collected greenery from the tree lots (free) and I would just mist it with water and it would last 3-4 weeks. Your mantel looks amazing!

Mary, 3m Command Cord Bundlers would come in handy for securing the branches without having to hammer in nails. I don’t know how long they’ve been around, I just found out about them a few days ago. I think they are brilliant.

Well your Christmas decorating with a cat is looking different to mine. We have two kitties. They'll be 2 years old in March. As I was putting decorations around the mantle etc, the two of them were systematically knocking them down to the floor again followed by a wrestling match with a santa and a penguin!!! Little divils. They're just lucky I love them so much.

Mary, this is lovley and the fact that you didn't spend money on it is a good lesson for us all. A tip to make things last a bit longer is to spray the decidous elements with cheap hair spray from the dollar store. That is a trick from an art teacher. You can still do this in place if you don''t mind the spray getting on your mantle. Thank you for sharing.

I do miss the snow since moving from Chicago to the Atlanta area decades ago. My husband says that I've romanticized snow and forgotten months of slush and dirty snow. haha I don't care, snow is magical. ❤😊❄️❄️❄️
Where I live in Canada we have four distinct seasons, always. My sister and I phone each other every year when the first snow falls and then we laugh and plan our trip into the woods for our Christmas tree and make a day of it.
