Greens at my garden center cost $12 for a bundle of 4 branches. Prices def have skyrocketed over the years and it’s too expensive to buy for diy wreaths and for planters . It’s cheaper to buy a misshapen Xmas tree and chop off the branches . And when I went to a tree farm to find one , they gave me all their discarded tree clippings !!
Yes! Same here in VA. $10-$12 a bundle. I too drive all around to garden ctrs and gather free clippings from Christmas trees that were purchased but I still have to buy other greens ($!) My sweet hairdresser does let me cut some other evergreens from shop property, which is so nice... tomshow appreciation, I always make her a winter pot for her shop's entrance. Then... there's the $20/ bottle of wilt proof that you need to spray all my finished projects. It's a lot work but so rewarding as I make winter pots, garlands for the elderly, family & neighbors.
I work at Home Depot and we trim and bag trees for Christmas. We have a discard area with many branches that have been trimmed at the customer's request.
I’ve watched about a dozen wreath-making videos and, while each video basically showed the same process, Laura, your instructions are the most simple, straightforward, easy to follow ones by far! You’re a natural teacher. 🎄 P.S. Love the inclusion of family moments at the end. ❤️
"Oh, hi Cheddar!" Melt my heart, how sweet are your kids!!! The wreath and garland were gorgeous as always. Each year your wreaths are just a little bit different, but always beautiful.
What a beautiful life. Thanks for sharing a bit of it with us, Laura. I never tire of the wreath making videos and seeing your family together in the greenhouse at the end of the video was heartwarming. ❤💚💛
I am from the Philippines a widow and a mother of 2. Thank you for sharing your talent/ skills in gardening, practical crafts, and home/garden decor. You are a genius when it comes to gardening. You are also an artist. I survived the COVID-19 pandemic, and you are one of the reasons. Thank you for sharing part of your life. You are great at growing plants and growing kids. I also love your house, I'm praying that God will provide for me and my 2 girls a new house as we are facing eviction. God Bless Ms. Laura. I love your family.
Thanks Laura, for always being a constant inspiration for creating out of the garden. From your organization to your tips and tricks, its much appreciated. Seasons Greetings to your team at home, we love seeing you all interacting together and making life's moments more precious for your audience, as well. Salud!
I always make my own wreaths, mostly boxwood with green sometimes mixed in. Its my thing. This year I made a wreath on a 24 inch wreath form for our winners of our Holiday House raffle, was the biggest wreath I have ever made, and was STUNNING. I have been to wreath making classes and have given them for family and friends. Its such fun, and no matter the skill level there is always a masterpiece at the end. Happy family memories made that night!
The thing that I love the most about your videos when it’s a demonstration of something, is that you make it look very easy, and your instructions are very simple and self-explanatory. Absolutely beautiful.
'So pretty!!' I even have my husband saying 'so pretty' at everything Christmas around the house. 😂❤💚 Thanks for the beautiful inspiration and for sharing your sweet family with all of us.
Good morning everyone! Have a blessed day or night where ever you are!❤🤗❤️ It turned out beautifully, Laura! Thank you for the tutorial and the festive touches! Great to see your family again! You all will have such beautiful and dear memories 💕 Blessings 💕🙏
Oh no, your poor mum is such a nice person, I can't imagine how she felt watching her hard work, wreath getting thrown to the wall.. I am sure we get the point that the wreath or whatever needs to hold together very strongly, without throwing it. Thank You Laura you are a way better teacher for all of us without being like that person was ❤. Greetings, Judit
I can’t seem to get enough of watching you all. You bless me daily with your videos even though I am not a good at gardening but I am learning through you and hopefully I will become better. Love you and your beautiful family always stay true to yourself no matter what. And all the Gardening Answer fans say” God Bless You “
I’m always so appreciative of your knowledge and your ability to share it with us! I know the time spent with your family, working on things together, brings joy to your heart and memories to cherish for a lifetime! Thank you for your willingness to share it all with us! Merry Christmas to you all! ❤
The garland is GORGEOUS! Tall plain candleholders - real tapers or frameless battery operated, just classic for Christmas through winter, and the sound of that rain, give me a pillow I’m done
So peaceful watching this video… the greens (we can almost smell that fragrance!), the music, preparing for and enjoying family time. Thank you for sharing that time, especially for those us who don’t have the opportunity to do the same. 🎄
Beautiful work Laura. And thank you for sharing footage of your family get together. Couldn’t help but notice a lot of “hands in pockets” by the gentlemen! 😄 while the women toil away. 😄
Anybody who skipped ahead missed out on the great tip for getting sap off your hands! ;) Thanks for that tip, Laura. As always, thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge. Happy holidays!
Hi Laura and Aaron! The instructions were done very well and the wreath and garland turned out really pretty. Nice seeing the family at the end. Thank you so much for sharing!
So fun! Now I want to gather branches from my evergreens! Love the simple mantle with the garland and candles. And I especially love everyone together at the end making wreaths while the sweet kids play in their sandboxes. So special!
Wow you make it seem so easy! Love your videos so much. What a beautiful soul you seem to be and your love for what you do truly inspires me! I think I can do it…or at least try it. Thank you for sharing your time and your family. Can’t wait to see your Dad in the video. Love your furry friends too
On a slightly different note my sister-in-law and I still travel to our local cemeteries and put greens out. The prices of wreaths and blanket wreaths have gotten so high it is impractical to purchase. Your table center piece could easily be made in place of one and secured down with wire hangers that we get from the dry cleaners and cut in U shapes. Thank you for your sharing your given talent and now to get started, I have 11 to make just for me. Again, thank you so much for sharing. 🥰🙏🎄❄️
I am so thankful I discovered your channel. I watched your DIY foraged greens garland and have been making them every since. Your instructions are so straightforward and they work fantastic!!! Thank you!
Wonderful step by step instructions for garland and wreath making. I can gather items from our property. I'll be making some for sure. Your's are beautiful. Thank you for all your inspiration. I sure need it now. Going through some rough times with my daughter. Praying for family togetherness. You always lift me up.❤❤❤❤
Can’t believe it’s so simple. My husband I got cuttings from a local Xmas tree lot. We had a lot of fun trying our hand at making wreaths. Really for the missed real tree smell. We made it much harder than it needed to be. Next year we are going to try following your instructions. Great video. We enjoyed it.
What a great gift too share, Thank U easily with your teaching!! My Sister's came over they thought I was nuts at first 😊 Ur Awesome directions we had a great time creating Thank U and Joy's too Ur Families next fun times, truly truly Enjoyable God Bless ❤😊
Good Morning! 🎄 I harvested from the trees in my yard to create my Christmas decor! I remember watching earlier videos, I paid attention to each step & then created my own with success!! Ever since I have created my own wreaths & swags!! After I cut my pine branches, I spray them with Wilt Stop so my creations last through the season! I love your wreath & the garland! 🥰😃🎄🎅✂️❤️💚
Beautiful garland!!❤reminds me of yrs ago when my mom, cousin and sil who were all florists would get together in our barn and make wreaths and flock christmas trees! Such fond memories!
I love watching your videos. Their very helpful. I love the one where you and your sister helped her get ready for fall. It was beautiful. Your outside home was Amazing. So need to get flowerbeds someday.
I just found out my sister watches yr channel for decor and she s watching from India.she made a beautiful wreath for the front door. Thank you, Laura. Merry Christmas .
You make this look so simple-- practice makes perfect! The 3 colors play off each other so well. Obviously for most of us, finding the greenery is the hardest! Artifical trees don't work very well!!!
The instructions for the garland is so helpful. Too late for this year but I think next year I'm upping my game from simple boughs on my garage to garland/swags
Oh my goodness Laura I wish I had some of your energy You accomplish so much in a day. The wreath and garland are both beautiful. Sweet to have the kids playing beside you as you work. ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
What a wonderful video today!!! I love seeing you make the wreath and the garland. I think I can do it now 😃 And your family...what a wonderful time together for all of you 🥰
Sooooooo BEAUTIFUL 😍😍😍 That's the prettiest wreath ever. You have an eye for symmetry and contrast, a true artist in my eyes. I forget what plant that is that has the seed heads but WOW, IT'S PERFECT for gentle accents in different places. 👏💥 Thank you so much !!!! 🥰 You're family is so lovely. 💕💕💕
A dear friend brings our family a homemade wreath each Christmas. The first thing I did was take a deep sniff of the wonderful pine! Love when your family gathers!
Beautiful job on that wreath! I love the way the yellow in it pops! You're so inspirational, Laura! Thank you for sharing. I also often wondered about the foraging. I'm in Colorado. I'll have to start asking around.
The natural greens, in different varieties and textures, are so beautiful, understated and classy. I love that look. You really don't need much more...or anything. I love the wreath and garland. Natures beauty. 🎄♥
Laura, I love your craft sessions. You are an inspiration and an energetic teacher. Thank you! I have a suggestion for next year. It might be fun to do a small projects with seniors in an HOA community or a senior center. ❤
When we were kids, we used to make our own wreaths from foraging in the neighborhood. Used a coat hanger circle for the form. Sold them to the neighbors!
I really like how each of the 3 types of evergreen adds to the whole, with their different texture. I think you are right not to decorate this with anything else....it does not need it! Having said that, when you chose to add the spruce cones to the garland, it was also just letting nature be as beautiful as it is. You can't go wrong when you do that.
I just want to say thank you for videos that are very well done. I appreciate the time and effort that you’ve taken to make a quality product. When you are watching a video for a half hour or so it’s enjoyable to have the right lighting, everything in focus and edited well. Keep up the good work.👏🏻
Never heard the mayonnaise trick for getting sap off your hands. You are a genius. I’m still very intimidated by making a wreath, but I do love watching you make them.
As a previous floral designer my favorite christmas green to use was Noble Fir, I would have loved to have grown one.I used to order cases of pine cones some large and painted gold were my favorite. Love how your wreath and swag came out great job.

I used to get all my greens for free by asking for the tree clippings-not any more.

Bunches of greens are $20-$30 here in Alberta! I bought a 4-5 ft tree for $26 to clip branches
Can we meet your brother Laura 😊

I wish I had someone like you teach me this 30 years ago
Watching all the work that a wreath takes I now realize why they are so expensive. So worth it.
I can almost smell the branches and the rain 🌧️ in the background, what a lovely day.

Would love to see more family get togethers! So much fun.
I envy you the closeness of your family. Be sure and cherish it daily.
I just love watching you, Laura. You make me smile! Thanks!
During Advent our Church only requires greenery , no flowers till Christmas ! Foraging greens are wonderful especially on a windy day !
That's so pretty I think you could wear it as a shawl and go as the forest princess to the ball😊🎄
Absolutely beautiful!!! Great tutorial!!! THANK YOU!❤
The garland on a farm table would look so amazing.

So beautiful. Thanks for the instructions for making our own. Love the family at the end.
Never heard the mayonnaise trick for getting sap off your hands. You are a genius. I’m still very intimidated by making a wreath, but I do love watching you make them.
Yeah, but you'll have to get someone else to dispense the mayo onto your hands or you'll get sap on the mayo container.
With the Italian incense cypress (??) you don't need any ornaments. The wreath turned out beautiful!
Laura,
Thank you for all you do, you and your family brings a great big smile on my face!
Your daughter looks a lot like your mom. So cute
Laura, the garland and wreath are absolutely beautiful!
