In this video PGA Golf Professional Rick Shiels heads out to The Marriott Worsley Park Golf & Country Club to try the golf ball that is the best selling golf ball on amazon.
You may expect the best selling ball to be the Titleist Pro V1, TaylorMade TP5 or even the Callaway Chrome soft. However, at the time of filming the Srixon distance is the best selling ball and this made Rick keen to test it.
Will it spin on the greens? Is it durable? It is marketed as a distance ball but can it go further than a Pro V1?

Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

I ran an independent test and found that the Srixon Distance balls go just as far into the woods as a Pro V1 shank - consistently. Also fails to skip all the away across the pond as often as a Pro V 1. For the money - best $10 I've ever left on a course for the locals to find.

A great comparative test between an economical ball and a premium ball Rick! I play Srixon including: Distance, Soft Feel, Marathon, AD 333. I believe all of them are two piece balls great for distance, but not so good for "stopping on the greens." As a senior golfer, this is what I have opted for. Yeh I used to buy lake balls when I used to play. From what I remember from back then, they used to be a good deal. You'd pay a tenner and get roughly a 3rd to half a Tesco carrier bag full of balls.....nearly all of them were good balls, loads of Titleist brand mostly. Then, the posher the golf course, the better the balls 😆
The best thing about lake balls is at least they're clean 😆
Playing with those expensive balls that Rick uses would cost me a fortune if I played 18 holes, at £3.50 each I'd have been swimming in the lake myself to get 3 and half quids worth per ball 👍

seeing his driver shots fly so perfectly makes me wonder if i can ever hit like that (not to mention its 278 yards carry, mine is max 215 yards if i hit it well)

I'm watching this like I watch most of your stuff and I've got to say your videos are timeless. No matter when you start or how well versed you are in the sport it like your learning either about products, game play or even grounding yourself as a player and showing to viewers we now matter how good you can be bad at times (the video you nearly didn't add)
I'd love for you to come to wilpshire golf club near Blackburn and play our course in your beat 75 and also teach me a thing or to as a returning golfer from a young age

Thanks for the comparison its been useful. I used to use Pro vs untill I found that some of the srixon (ad333 qstar ) actually gave me 15,20 yards more. I think its because of my swing speed isn't fast enough for pro vs as I'm average 90mph. 🤔

I have used these for about 3 years. As a high handicapper I want something harder and heavier to give me the confidence that it will stay on line. Soft feel tend to disappear into the trees a lot!
Now both of my golfing buddies use them too.

What another awesome review! I used to play with these balls for years. Then all of a sudden couldn't find them and word on the street was it was replaced with the Srixon Marathon. I switched to Callaway though but those distance balls are pretty leka. (an Afrikaans word for pretty darn awesome or amazing!)

Hi Rick. Really enjoying all of your contents.
I am a amateur golfer from South Korea and I was wondering if you can review a golf ball thats made and developed in Korea.
    The brand is called "Diawings".
Based on the advertisement, it is supposed to increase 10% of your normal distance with a driver.
Someone who hits a carry of 200 meters will hit 20meters more, and its supposed to increase 3m/s of ball speed.
If you are up to reviewing the ball, and need any help with the purchase, I will be glad to help you.
Thanks again Rick, for making my golf life a better one.

Thanks for doing that review Rick! If it performs adequately as you say I’m may switch from pro v1. let’s face it golf balls are expensive the game of golf is expensive so thanks for giving us new information I really love your channel and congratulations on getting close to 1 million subscribers so far

I recently bought the Srixion marathon balls because it was the cheapest in the shop and I'm broke and I actually really liked those. I usually play with a Pro V1 or a high end TaylorMade ball, but the Srixion did well too. I did struggle around the greens because of it being a harder ball, but not too much. Long story short: if you want a cheap ball that is pretty good, go with Srixion.

When I'm spraying the ball about I go to the Srixon Ultisoft. Love that ball. It's not a pro v1 but a Really good cheaper ball. About £20 a dozen.
Would love to see what you think Rick.
