Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm in a reggae band for quite a while now. We are working on our first original song and now I find myself going back to the basics. Thank you once again...
With the greatest respect, if you're in a reggae band and using the techniques described by Tomas, then you're not playing the music that reggae exponents and fans would recognise. The adoption of other cultures is great, but we should respect the media. I suggest you listen to old stool Jamaican reggae, then look for Tuff Lion John Jesus, Steve Golding and or Xyan. These guts will show you how to play the music properly. One Love
Thanks heaps for this lesson, Tomas. I've been trying to learn the Reggae strum for a couple of years and yours is the first lesson I've seen which is sufficiently broken down. Well taught, Thanks.

Sir would u please teach few basic strumming patterns in ur special way.
Thanks for your request Vani. This playlist may help th-cam.com/play/PL2fVuWCtWUdpXiQs-8hz0HCViADoCTU81.html
The mute in reggae comes from chord hand not the strumming hand.
Thanks

When you play reggae u should use bar chords because it's better than basic chords and every chords consist of 4 downs
Yes that makes sense Roberto. I show how to use open chords for those who don't play barre chords yet.

@@ho789jack9 Having listened to reggae for 50 years and played it for 40 I concur with Ram Goatliver. This man doesn't know reggae
Why are you not using a minor chord like reggae does?! 🙄
Not all reggae music is written in the minor keys, several are done in Major!
Not bad. But that drumming is not reggae the emphasis should be on the third beat
Thanks for the comment!
wrong way sir this pattern
Terrible!
C’mon man, you didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Lol. Keep trying to help play there ax!
