Cool video. It's funny you mentioned speaking and strumming. I was thinking that throughout. I have paid a guitar teacher 4 lessons, $240 to teach me how to strum and sing at same time, we started with Margaritaville. I lose strum pattern everytime so I stopped trying. Will continue watching your videos. I already shared with my brother. Thanks.

I watched the video through with my puppy on my lap - no guitar. Instant subscriber, instant huge fan. I've been messing around "learning" guitar for about 4 years now. This is the BEST video lesson on strumming technique I've had the pleasure of viewing. So well dressed, I'll bet he's wearing bunny slippers, just for fun.
Such kind words - thank you for watching! I was wearing flip flops, actually. Gotta get me some bunny slippers. So grateful to have you as a subscriber - we've got more great stuff coming!
No lie it felt really good to be told you decided to wake up and take action today. So many of us don’t stop to think I about that I know I always don’t but to remind us mid video was just an excellent touch. Thanks a lot 💯❤️

I liked the video how the work out video puts strumming into a different light. although i have a few patterns already this helped me find a couple more to work with. and showed me the break down to put it into application. thank you.
This was very helpful . I am looking forward to more work outs ! I was stuck and struggling with strumming ! This broke the ice ! And another Bruce Lee saying " If you keep a knife in he drawer it will become dull But a few strokes a day keeps it sharp !Thank you Joseph

I have bad days as I struggle with chord progression and being able to do these strumming exercises will make me feel good about myself and my progress. I don't want to give up and I truly think this will help. me!
We all have good and not so good days, but pressing on is what keeps us moving forward. So grateful I can help you in this season of your guitar playing!
I have struggled with struming throught my guitar journey, and now I am wondering why, you made this seem fairly easy! Thank you. "Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do." Bruce Lee.
Hi David. Just came across this. This is a great strumming exercise for me being 64 years old and considered a beginner after playing about 18 months now. I appreciate the fact that you count the strokes and do the up and downs together. Good lesson in use of the metronome also. Thanks, Glen

😊my arm actually feels like a guitarist arm after a long show. Great study & presentation. Very proper. It's nice to learn from someone who looks profesional 👍 Helps my brain listen better. Thank You!
Thank you! Nice Training Video! Shows the basic strumming patterns! Give you the chance to hold the pace without only using the metronom! The Sixteenth notes are killing me, despite the fact that I am "already ready" and only have to add the upstrums :)
Great video. Even for beginners. The tips and riddles makes video more interesting while going through the monotonous strumming. It reminds the same techniques used during the workout videos and commentary.
Yesssss! I was listening in on my wife's workout video with the rowing machine and thought, "I can do something like this for guitarists." So thanks for watching!
I think I would classify myself as an intermediate player. I’m Not sure what the definition of an intermediate player is? Anyway, I enjoyed your practice video. Always good to practice the basics. Thanks for posting.
Good for you! I always like to go back to basics to keep them solid. To me, an intermediate player has a good grasp of the basics and is starting to apply them to next levels of artistic expression. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! I will definitely do this workout repeatedly over the next few weeks. However, I still feel like I breakdown while strumming & singing at the same time. I can hold any strumming pattern with a beat of metronome and can play a chord progression over it as well. But as soon as I try to hum or sing a song, the strumming hand breaks down and I lose the beat. I'm self learning guitar since last year or so, and for some reason, there are only 1 or 2 strumming patterns which I'm able to hold on to while singing, so it feels like all of my songs sound similar (and I play a variety of English & Hindi songs, so I'd very much like to get at least a few strumming patterns under my belt!) Can you maybe explain why my strumming hand automatically switches to the same pattern I know repeatedly once I start singing? And apart from doing this workout (which I'll definitely do), can you maybe give me a few tips as to how I should go on with practicing strumming patterns? Thanks a lot!
Great thoughts - thanks for watching. When I started, I only knew a few strumming patterns, so like you, I went right back to them. But as I learned more, I built my vocabulary and was able to choose the right pattern for the right song. Also, strumming and singing (or speaking) takes work, but it's worth it! Nice lesson. The beats were easy for me (till the last one) but when I tried talking during the strumming like you did...I pretty much crashed and burned!
LOL - no worries! Keep up the good work. I caught some of the vids on your channel - I love the way you make music fun for kids! And really, you've got quite a solid command of finger strumming without a pick!

I am a 2month beginner found the 16 bèat too difficult could have followed the rest more easily if the patterns were on screen all the time and if i could hear the metronome but the continuous ďialogue drowned it. The badic idea is good though and gives you lots of practice time to follow another player.
Thanks! I considered just letting the metronome go for a few minutes without talking, but the dialogue helped me to move things along and keep inspiring the viewer. Thanks for watching!
