Not so fun fact about Vidtape: The company was investigated by the Department of Justice for child labor violations. They had underage employees working 14 hour shifts, where they wipe tapes to record Vidtape's stuff onto, pack tapes, and cart them out, for below minimum wage during the school year. The founders ended up in prison and the company went under afterward.
On another note, I'd love to see a sequel to this episode or at least a video about Goodtimes. There's a very rich history to that company, from releasing public domain stuff, licensed stuff, and exercise videos to getting bought out by a yoga equipment company.

This crap is still being pumped out on DVD now. I have one that I got at a dollar store, by some Canadian company called "Media Movies & More" (MMM). Needless to say I can't find any information about that company online. I also remember watching badly dubbed cartoons in Spanish class in high school. The teacher even joked that the guys doing the translations must've gone out for a smoke break, because one large section of the cartoon was left un-translated.

Yup, even if VHS has technically died these guys find new life by pumping out TONS of cartoons out on multi-collection DVDs and considering how much you can store on a single dics, they can get a lot of cartoons out for cheap. I know the VHS tapes I have that did the same thing were able to cram SIX HOURS of PD cartoons onto a tape but I walked into Target about a year or two ago and found the same set up on DVD....with 12 HOURS.

Foxhack not surprised, I know one of the cult film labels Code Red tried pulling that stunt with a lost unreleased Joe Spinell film called the Undertaker. They got their hands on a butchered bootleg of the VHS work print which had scenes put out of order or cut all together and replaced by scenes of arobics to avoid getting in trouble with the owner of the actual film and when another label called Vinegar syndrome got the rights to release the actual unaltered film on Blu-ray, Code Red threatened legal action until it was pointed out that while his release was put out as The Undertaker, code red only had the rights to Death Merchant which was the name the bootleg went by. So they didn't have a leg to stand on.

+goldylover1000 My girlfriend and I talked about how the Sonic Fan Base is so broken. You have morons who want a return to the 2D graphics, and the classic pre-1998 character designs, and then the cry babies who cry about a redesign that's exclusive to a spin-off series. Don't get me started on those insane fans who want to be swallowed whole by Sonic, and lose their identity whilst merging with Sonic (That's the meaning behind Sonic Dreams Collection).
My response to those morons would be: *rant starting* Come on, this is 2015, not 1991, grow up a little. If we all followed your "ideology" we'd never make any progress. As for you cry-babies, it's only a spin-off. *rant over*
Anyhoo, you're right goldylover1000, biasing games because they don't have the pre-1998 character designs is like biasing a video game console emulator because it's not like the actual console.
The only difference being that you can get the actual console you want because there's always people who sell old consoles. You can't simply request Sega to change the character designs back to their pre-1998 designs, you might as well tell the Coca-Cola Company to bring back New Coke, and replace the original recipe with the New Coke recipe. If that happened, then the Coca-Cola Company would go out of business unless they bring back the old recipe (they had to when back in the 80s when New Coke was causing them to lose money).
      Sorry for the long-winded speech.

As someone who likes stop-motion, I LIKE the stop-motion....but as a Black woman I can't help but laugh uncomfortably at EVERYTHING about the thing. Still though, when it comes to cartoons that have really racist overtones can I admit that this is actually not the WORST? There are worst, MUCH worse, but man it makes you realize of the shit that was deemed as okay back in the day. The print from this video is nightmare inducing though mostly due to the print and how eye-straining it is. If I have nightmares tonight, I know what to blame.

I have and still have two Cartoons-R-Fun tapes that I had since I was a baby. One is a Bugs Bunny tape of Fresh Hare. And the other one is a Daffy Duck tape of Daffy's Southern Exposure. Looking back on them now, they are pretty cheap. And after seeing stuff about them online it sure quite astounding. Cheap and laziness really comes to mind with these tapes.
A good example of this is that my Bugs Bunny tape actually has a label, but my Daffy one doesn't. For years I wonder why my Daffy tape didn't come with one. However one day I got the label on my Bugs tape wet, then I discover that there was another label, a stamped label underneath it.
Then I came to the conclusion that the only reason they bother to put a label is to cover whatever the hell was on the tape originally, and that my Daffy Duck tape never had a label.
As matter of fact I had the covers to these tapes at one point. Now my Bugs cover was the right cover. However my Daffy cover was for other Daffy Cartoons R Fun tape Daffy Duckaroo. I'm not sure if the woman that gave me the tape in the beginning lost the cover to it and must of used another cover that was the same company.
But knowing how cheap and lazy they are, I think they actually package the tape with the wrong cover.
Because the woman that gave me the tapes wasn't to in to cartoons and just bought these tapes just because she heard about my birth. So I don't think she knew to well what was on the tapes and probably didn't care.
But whatever if was cheap or not, it did introduce me to the Looney Tunes as those two cartoons were the first ever Looney Tunes I ever watched. Without those tapes I might have never seen a Looney Tunes cartoon in my life.

In the case of the Charlie Chaplin stuff, this is typically a case of simply playing duplicate prints at normal sound speed (24fps) instead of slowing them down and doing a real mastering job to something more suited to an official release (which this isn't). Silent films often got shafted in this regard when not coming from reputable sources or having the right people who know what they're doing.

18:45 I happen to have some $1 DVDs with the good old cartoons, including "The New [*now old*] Three Stooges". On the Digiview DVDs, the opening (and closing) music must've been made by some musician who specialized in generic synthesized looping music. Is it supposed to be a "new and improved" Three Stooges theme song??? I'll say *no* because it ain't original! At least the voices and sound effects were not changed. The ones on Mill Creek, kept the original music. Maybe they know better.
I also have a GoodTimes DVD that featured Felix the Cat in "Bold King Cole", "The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs" and "Neptune Nonsense" as well as other '30s and '40s cartoons. Digitally restored (as it said on the case). Maybe true for the picture quality, *BUT* the sound effects were tampered with (in Stereo with Dolby Digital)! Well, at least it wasn't like that on the Mill Creek DVDs. Oh yes, I also happen to have a $1 VHS tape by Alpha Video and it has the 3 Felix cartoons. Even in EP mode, it looks decent and the sound effects are kept original.

I've got a rather amusing copy of one tape which is recorded on a recycled Thomas The Tank Engine video, some of which is still present as the tape wasn't erased before it was recorded over.
A little while ago I also saw a French copy of one of the tapes from this series which quite frankly was awful. It was copied in black and white, was French dubbed and the end of the tape contained a recording from a French tv station, suggesting that the tape was made on a home VCR.
Also, I'm not sure if you're interested but the Spanish Heckle and Jeckle tape which you played in this clip doesn't appear to contain the same cartoons as on the English version of the tape.

"Politically correct" types would be WELL-ADVISED…
I didn't read the warning when I watched this.
The dubs made in these videocasettes are pretty hilarious and creepy at the same time. OMG I saw those tapes in stores in Mexico, and never dared to bought any of them, first because they seemed very pirate to me. Second, it's freaking Bugs Bunny, I had them on TV all the time, and I had a lot of VHS tapes to record almost everything.
If I ever had one of those in hand when I was 6 I probably would had nightmares!

I sense a pretty peculiar accent in the voices, very local to me. It's mexican, but not from the northern border. More like the southeast part of the country.

Some cheap DVDs are only good for using the box for another DVD

In the credits, in the Vidtape section, you forgot to put in Porky's Bear Facts (1941).
