    What storage are you using on your Xbox console?

      Purchased an Xbox Series S a few weeks ago because i got tired of waiting for Series X to become widely available. I repurposed a USB 3.0 500 GB WD Passport hard drive for external storage. Anything not S/X optimized goes on this drive. I'll get about 400-450 Mbs transfers between drives, which is 2-4x faster than my fastest downloads.

    I just got an Xbox series s about two weeks ago. And it's already clear I'll need to expand the storage. What I don't understand is why instead of expensive storage options why Microsoft doesn't just release consoles with higher storage capacities for a little more. Seems to me even releasing a 1tb or 2tb Xbox series s would be the smarter option and cheaper in the long run.

    • @BusyDadGaming

      I bet we see a series s with more storage this year. When they originally launched, solid state was pricey.

    I mentioned in one of your other videos, I have a HDD & External SSD as well as the 1TB expansion card. My entire 360 library is on the HDD as well as games I don't play anymore, usually games that were free, so I downloaded them. The majority of my Xbox One library is on the external SSD as well as the XS optimized games that can run off an external source. The expansion & internal drive hold the games I'm currently playing & anything I've downloaded from game pass. So my entire digital library 227 games owned) is sitting on about 3TB & I still have about 2 free.

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That makes sense and games from the Xbox and 360 eras are so much smaller that it's easy to fit entire collections on a hard drive. The X1 era, games expanded (and even more so now), but I'm curious to see how things go as new compression technologies advance.

    Thank you for this video, I appreciate you sharing information on SSD versus HDD. I have both myself, and I can say that I have a fair experience in both. The SSD will be more costly upfront but it pays for itself. As with HDD, you can’t go wrong. You still get a lot of space for a very reasonable price. Especially if you’re wanting to emulate more towards a more retro gaming style. But it’s like you said, it just depends. Based on what the consumer wants.

    • @BusyDadGaming
      @BusyDadGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good point. If you're into emulation, might as well go with the most storage possible as loading times aren't really an issue on those. Otherwise, get what makes the most sense.

I’ve seen 8TB or even higher for around $100. I haven’t kept up with them. SSDs are $150-$200 (and this is like 1TB or 2TB). NVMEs (adequate ones) can be $230+ (At minimum. Although it can be found cheaper but usually without a heatsink) for 1TB. The 2TB Expansion card is quite questionable with it’s $400 (since I know 2TB NVMEs can be found cheaper).
