$150 for a 1tb card is still to much in a failing economy.
They should just allow any and more then one nvme disk. I have like 20 laying around in various sizes I don't understand why they can't just make 12 slots
They could easily make the hard drive 10tb and sell console at same price smh 🤦♂️
@@MJK-ULTRA what I miss is the sheir amount of slots on the console I don't find 512gb SSD hard to come by. So I would like to connect maybe 10 at once
Is your economy isn’t great don’t spend money on gaming 🥴
I’m copping $150 last you years worth it
Was expensive? Dude it still is expensive.
They're considerably cheaper than they used to be, and the WD C50 1TB card is on sale at the moment for $125 so it's now even cheaper! -> amzn.to/3unVQKa
@@MyTechGearGaming still waaaay over priced….expensive
Me personally, I have a seagate card but that’s because I bought mine from a pawn shop for only 40 bucks. I was very lucky to find it.
Good find! 👍
that’s how much they should be new lol
@@MrJord1994 ikr you can buy a whole new xbox series with the price of the expansion card smh
Being frugal(especially for gamers) really pays off. I was in the market for an expan card an found a wd 1tb out of box for $60 at my local used game store.
At launch, the Xbox Series expansion card from Seagate was reasonably priced contacted to generic drives (especially since the Xbox cards are hot-swappable). The problem is that they haven’t kept pace with price drops in the broader market since then. Even this price reduction doesn’t bring them close to price parity with generic drives.
The Seagate 2TB is now 332.73 Euro at Amazon Germany - in the beginning of October it was down to "just" 284.90 Euro.
Just bought a SSD 2tb for $230 at Best Buy in California
exactly. this dude doesnt know what he is talking about. here in NL its €300 on amazon and more at other retailers (cheapest being coolblue at 300 and goes up from there to 521)
@@TriforceOfCourage97 Down to 295 Euro at Amazon Germany - which is still daylight robbery.
I just bought 2 tb ssd seagate card brand new on eBay for £195
@@jaydeen6212 Nearly 240 Euro now in Germany. Still daylight robbery.
I bought the expansion card back when the stimulus checks were going around. I really regret doing that. It seemed like a smart idea at the time.
Tech always gets cheaper over time. It’s inevitable. Even the western digital ones are on sale now! It still sucks though.
I feel you dude, I bought my 1tb for almost $400 in Canada. Now it’s at $200 and the 2tb now costs around the original price of the 1tb.
western digital 5 tb and your good to go man just copy that shit :s
Us the consumer are getting screwed over.
there are now 4tb gen4 nvme drives for ~$200 so it's pretty hard to accept $150 for a 2tb xbox expansion card that's just the same thing
While i did spend 150$ on the 1tb seagate expansion card i dont regret it since i was always struggling with the amount of optimized games i could have on my console
It doesn’t take long for the hard drive to fill up, especially considering some games, like starfield, are 140GB big! So an expansion card kind of becomes a necessity now if you don’t want to be swapping games around all the time.
What the actual F!
1995kr for 512GB in Norway…
That’s expensive for even a 2TB Drive that’s PS5 compatible!!! Insanely expensive…
Comparison in Norwegian pricing.
Xbox WD C50 512GB : $182 (1990kr)
PS5 Samsung 990 Pro 2TB : $182 (1990kr)
Can you not order from Amazon US or UK? That is a crazy price for the 512gb model and way above what it should cost!
Even after the drop, those prices are absurd. However, that's what's gonna happen when you force propietary equipment like that. It's completely Microsoft's fault they cost so much.
$400 for 2TB!!!!!! Jesus Christ modern day consoles are killing us. Todays games take over 100GB of storage.
And newer games like Starfield take up even more space!
Bought the Seagate 1TB for $129 Black Friday.
Nothing like a good bit of competition to bring the price down! 😆
Thank you for the video mate
No problem 👍
Just bought one on Amazon for $119, it’s even being delivered today. Lol!
Seagate obviously had an exclusive deal with Microsoft for X amount of years…probably 3 years until Microsoft would allow the competition to license their architecture
thank @#$% that's over though right?! Great price at $119!
@@MyTechGearGamingExactly! I’m just glad the prices aren’t completely ridiculous anymore
I was going to get it through Amazon as well but I forgot to order it. I went to Best Buy. It was $124.99 but Best Buy had a promo for using their Credit Card to get $10.00 for purchases over $75.00 in the month of October. I also got a $5.00 gift card because of my points accumulation.
$119 oh, stop the insanity all ready. These were never $119 on Amazon. I even looked at the Amazon price chart flexuation on this item, and the lowest is right now at $129 for a seagate 1tb!
@@steveburnham942I can show you my receipt if you want. Wasn’t third party either, directly from Amazon brand new. Bought it on October 28th
Even if Seagate drops it lower I would still buy WD , what Seagate did was theft
your 150 is my 220 here in oz,originally seagate cherged 350 aud till WD put their ssd on the market
Got the Senate 1 TB for 70 $ Today March 10th 2024 so prices are coming down. I didn't know this existed 😳 then again i just got my xbox series x for 275 in February 2024. I always wait for the price of tech to fall. With more uits sold, competition boredom etc. It may take yeras 😂 but im patient
So are optimized games playable on the wd expansion cards?
Yes. Any card that plugs into the expansion card slot will run as though it was internal storage.
I have a 5 tb external hard drive for my Xbox 1. When I got my Xbox X I just switched it over. No hassle and it works fine. Plus I still have access to all my old games.
lol...where? they crashed upwards in price here. these have never been below €169 for 1tb here. the 2 TB is 300
Definitely screwing us over
I purchased wd black 1 tb yesterday
After much debating with myself I practically forced myself to buy an seagate ssd storage card, and I really didn’t want to seriously £130 for a tiny bit of plastic it’s ridiculous, and it was on offer I think it was meant to be £150. Seeing the size of the ssd storage cards just shows that these consoles can have more built in storage, but obviously these companies want more money out of us it’s disgusting. I was going to get a hard drive, but there’s really no point. I don’t know how it works with physical copies on disc, but digital i can uninstall my games and reinstall them when I want Just like how u would with a hard drive, that’s the good thing with ssd u haven’t got to mess around like that, it’s just a shame about the prices being charged
1TB on Playstation is still half the price of a Xbox SSD. pretty crappy still if you ask me. 70ish bucks vs 130? damn..
They're on sale on Amazon at the moment and are down to $125. You can check them out here amzn.to/46CcvrS They are still more expensive than buying the same amount of extra storage for the PS5 though.
@@MyTechGearGamingIt’s now $140, which still isn’t cheap in my book. Come back and talk when it’s the same as upgrading a PS5.
Mine arrived today, thanks to black friday. luckily I held off from buying it sooner , would've really regretted it. Overall it's an awesome upgrade and now I'm no longer worried about having to delete games when wanting to install other titles on my Xbox 👌
It's great to see the prices of these coming down even further.! 😊
How much was it for Black Friday??
@@gamerdan2310 I got mine for 259 NZD about 159 USD, full price was 428 NZD (264 USD)
It was $125 USD during Black Friday.
sea gate 2TB In my area is 303$ way to expensive
I just grabbed the WD 1tb one fie £130 here in the UK, and i will admit it has really enhanced my series S now i can store and play the big games like MS2020, FH games, FM games, SF, Gears, Halo collection,....and many more.....oh and the transfer spoeds arevinsane, took me just under 2 mins to copy the 150 gig MS2020 to the card....almost a constant 6gb a seconds transfer speed.......insane.
Nice! 😊
Will this make my console run faster and smoother in game so I have an advantage in CoD?? Plz HELP
No. It just gives you more storage so you can install more games on your XBox.
1TB is nothing. i just got the 2tb seagate at $280 and its already full. now im looking at buying external 6tb HDD for even more storage.
Microsoft tearing the consumers a new one with the prices of expansion cards for the X and S, 150 dollars for 1TB of storage is a scam. As much as I hate it games take up too much space on the internal drive, and majority of game pass games won't run on my old hard drive. Guess you absolutely have to pull the trigger if you don't want to deal with transferring games all the time
i saw a seagate card for just 64.99! i was so happy to see these prices drop, because i would be in super bad debt once i bought one. and nevermind take that back. they are still 150 bucks. (as im editing this i realise how much money ill need to get this..)
Hope to see these line up the shelves in pawn shops for dirt cheap in the years to come
Just bought the seagate bc it was cheaper than the WD.
Hopefully Samsung and SanDisk will release expansion cards for the Xbox series s and series X, we do need variety and they say competition is good for the soul even though I do have the 2 terabyte Seagate expansion card for my Xbox series X
They got that one on temu for $20 but unfortunately my xbox doesn't recognize it
They still need to drop the price more,or get round the moving games from an external drive to the internal drive, then you can use 5tb or larger hardrives at a much cheaper price,i just bought 2 brand new external 5tb SEAGATE hard drives for £60,so it makes more sense to use them huh?
External hard drives can't transfer data fast enough over the USB cable for modern games so an internal drive needs to be used. PS5 has the same problem except they allow you to install a standard nvme drive into it rather than the bespoke expansion cards that the XBox uses.
Yes,i know that, but the problem needs to be adressed, one way or another.I own a series x and a series s,and it's like a step backwards having to faff about sendind games back and two.
Are the speeds any different?
Not really. Some tests have shown the C50 to be quicker but it’s not big enough of a difference that you’d notice.
Screw that! My criticism with a Seagate 2tb is still way over priced, I'm not paying nearly £300 uk pounds for a memory expansion, so I've ended up with the 1tb Western Digital one for £149 from game and plus ive made back 15% as I'm a game elite member.
we get ripped of in australia our 2tb expansion cards are over 700 fucking dollars nearly as much as the console it fits in
They're a lot cheaper than that. The 2TB expansion card is only $477 AUD on Amazon AU at the moment amzn.to/3Gywzjc
Comcast: "Wait, having competition might effect our prices ☉ ‿ ⚆?
No, you're wrong.
Here, in my country, 2TB seagate still costs the equivalent of 400 dollars.
Prices do vary around the world. Sounds like you’ve got an even better reason to get the western digital one instead.
The funny thing that both are two sides of the same company
But WD still doesn’t allow X|S games to be played directly from it, so it’s still expensive considering it’s essentially the same as a standard external drive you can get for $30-50
You can play X|S optimised games directly from it. That’s the main reason for getting one.
@@MyTechGearGaming really? What is the model number of it if you know? The ones I looked up say X|S optimized games can only be archived.
I put Amazon links to them in the description and that will take you directly to these cards. You can play X|S optimised games on both these, and the seagate cards too.
@@MyTechGearGaming thanks so much!
Are Western digital and Seagate the only options?
yes, at least for now.
@MyTechGear that's dissapointing. Hopefully they get some competition soon so that we can eventually see terabyte expansion cards cost below $100. Cheapest one I could find currently was 125. The xbox expansion cards are ridiculously priced.
@ShadowElectricity price has gone down since western digital released their cards. Given it’s a bespoke expansion card architecture as opposed to a standard nvme drive I don’t know how much more prices will come down. Here’s to hoping though.
This is why a monopoly over these storage devices makes them expensive. Need some serious competition.
Me putting a 1tb ssd into my optiplex for 20:
is there any difference in speed between WD and Seagate??
Not really. In some tests western digital is seen to be faster but it’s not by any significant amount.
Not sure if it's genuine, but on Curry's business site they apparently have a 4TB card for £94.98!!??
150 bucks for 1Tb is a joke.
It was a marketing strategy, seagate made it's money
I still think that’s a bit much for an expansion card. I have fast enough Internet, I don’t mind reinstalling games.
Still $279 AUD down under 😭
Expansion card are way more expensive to ps vita sd card. Sony card costed 30% more than a micro sd. Xbox expansion card cost 150%-200$ more expensive.
Not cheap here I'm in Aoetearoa and nothing is cheap here for video games unless it's on deals that's about the only time Xbox games are cheap and affordable specially in this climate of poorness for most
I’m in NZ too and I ordered mine off Amazon as they do free shipping to NZ.
I personally would chose PS5 because of pro consumer strategies. Those system cards are ridiculous money grab....
sony wants to go that way as well
I wouldn’t recommend the ps5 simply because of the Liquid Metal and the soldered on ssd.. thing is disposable and designed to fail eventually
The internal ssd is literally soldered, I'm not saying that the Xbox has an easy to replace ssd, but soldering it to the mobo on the PS5 is not very pro consumer...
That’s NOT a price crash dude! When they cost as much as the console it’s not cheap storage. And WD needs a 2TB storage card.
They’re significantly cheaper than they used to be. And the price has dropped even lower in recent sales since I made this video. And yes, WD do need a larger card in their offering.
Bro why i buy an ex storage i will buy another xbox series s its better
OK. Buddy, what's up with the increasing of storaging. What I'm saying is that. Now
Then then, 2 years ago there wasn't a lot of games titles that's coming up for the next-gen. And most likely by Xbox with Microsoft. All the games are going towards being next generation gaming. . like grand theft auto 6. It's going to be next-gen.All of the games are now going to be next generation games. So now you have to have a next generation game consoperiod. To able to play these upcoming games PERIOD so now, but people are forgetting about other Title games that use a lot of Ramo. However, you guys call it so that means that storage and needs to increase now. people are forgetting about. Sports games that has to be turned over to being next generation games. And those take a lot of memory and a lot of storage, especially fighting games like mortal kombat, one and now extension packs. Everything like that. so. soul. Even when people would choose a external hard drives 1 and 2 TB was nothing so a lot of people had to buy, like like 5 and up.
Terabytes Because there's a lot of games that other people like to play.. and look at the memory that UFC 5 took. So what I'm saying is that Microsoft and Sony should I really instead of thinking about the game playing? And all this other stuff out how the game is gonna be moved and everything like that. They should have thought about the memory. And how are they Going to storage the memory of these games aren't RGB Sports games fighting games racing games. They should have thought about all this instead of just basically. It's all about the graphics and the speed. House games worked instead of basically paying more attention towards their second. Most important thing for a console. And that's storage pretty, so there's one terabyte, and 2 TB. Is garbage now.. we're going to need. The moon's laptop like me. I like to have a lot of storage. So then later on when I don't have no money. Now I gotta go find and make money to play these other games. That's coming later on in life. so I'm a person that wants that finish with that type of situation problem. so and you find out to see. If they made 3 out of 6 Tb of storage cards. Because Xbox set it for new game titles. Only gonna be for next genot. For the old systems, you're going to need a next-gen. Console. and I think that's totally unfair. That now we're being forced to buy a next-gen. Consult, who likes to play repetable games. it's cool once in a while to go back to the future. To place certain games that was cool to us 80s, 90s, or the beginning of 2000 Generation people like myself. I'm an Eighties baby. But I would like to also pla new title games. and I do 8 upon that problem that new. Has to be forced to play new the other games that we paid for digitally. We can't play it on a new system. I'm not aestrema and I don't like to be. Living a life that if I want to play my 1007 games. That I have bought digitally. I have to go to that gaming console. And if I wanted to play new games that are coming out. I shouldn't have to use that game system just to play. The update gaperiod that's a waste of a lot of money. so please, what I'm talking about. Does it have to relate to the stories? I'm talking a mouth because it all leads to is storage.
Crashed whereee????
Still overpriced by 50%
That SSD bullshit doesn’t even work with my Xbox and I just bought the seagate one didn’t work day 1 and still doesn’t work now Xbox is fucking trash
If you've bought a faulty unit you could just take it back and get a replacement.
I bought my 2 TB Seagate Drive for 500 fucking dollars. Now I’m going to buy five of the western digital just because I want to give them the business!!
They were soo expensive when they first came out.
This is one the reasons why the PS5 is kicking the XBox butt. MS screwed the pooch again and again.
I paid two hundred bucks for a two terabyte seagate Works great and I have a three terabyte external i think im good now
sounds like you're sorted! 😊
Has the prices increased again? Im in the UK and £ are less then $, a 512GB card is £110 ,1TB is £180 and 2TB is £340 from seagate. i havent yet checked other sites but those prices are CRAZY!
Just for example 280 dollars is 222.89 pound sterlin. £340 is $427.13 so the 2TB card is almost double your prices shown in this vid. (BTW im not coming at you im generally curios why the prices are so different and if they did increase in the 6 months since this vid was made)
Prices can fluctuate over time. In general though, the Western Digital card is cheaper than the equivalent Seagate cards. The 1TB card for instance, on Amazon, is currently £128 in the UK and $125 in the US (so even cheaper than when I made this video!). You can check it out here -> amzn.to/3WDlUxd
