Curious. Did you end up removing those boom mats like I did? Sure wish someone told me that they absolutely destroy bass and mids before I installed them. Had to redo everything.
You mean the foam backing? If so no, they do have a perception of having less bass. What it does is it tightens up the bass and reduce all the vibration caused by the bass. Those vibrations makes it seem as if it had more bass. I like my bass to sound tight not boomy and I don't like noise which is what all the vibration is.
+sbusumacinta .... in the video he says Nakamichi and he got them from Crutchfield (online hifi store)cause they provide the bracket and wire harness for free. 6.5 inch is the size but Crutchfield has a search mode that shows you only your car based on yr, make and model. I just ordered a Clarion set from them but they have no arrived yet.
+sbusumacinta ,,, I Installed all of my ordered speakers (Kenwood and not Clarion as I previously mentioned) from Crutchfield today. The wire connections and bracket were really nice and helpful. I had also ordered the Baffle (foam backing cups) but I figured quickly that the tight enclosure around the speakers KILLs the base sound. I had to pull each of the door panels off again to cut a hole out of the back of the foam baffles. The hollow cavity of the doors acts as a resonance chamber to allow the bass to come thru, and the baffles stop that if the speaker is sealed away from the door cavity.
+Mike S I don't see the keenwood speakers that you mention when I input year/make/model for Honda Fit 2015 what exact speaker model or part number it is?

The Kenwoods come up with both front and rear door search choices. The Kenwoods I got (and are not top of the line but good and much better than stock) are the 2nd listing in that search. Kenwood KFC-1665SSport Series 6-1/2" 2-way speakersItem #: 1131665SI chose them simply cause they were inexpensive and 500+ people had reviewed then with a 4.5 star rating. Otherwise i had no brand opinion or preference. Good luck.
