My 2017 Hyundai Sonata white had a chunk of paint peel off above the rear door about 1 1/2 years ago. Hyundai repainted that paint that peeled off. Within the last 3 months a huge chunk of paint started peeling off the roof. Hyundai has said they will have that repainted at no charge, yet the dealer said I’d have to pay $100 to have the window removed. Hyundai is aware and are just repainting the minimal cars to avoid a recall.
The same peeling paint is very common in gm white, it is actually the paint sealer, that has been sitting for to long before it was shot with base coat, and at that point you need to have a mechanical etch for the paint to adhere!
@@alexandraa531 how long ago did you buy your Honda, cause they did extend the warranty for the white paint on Hondas.. Call the dealer. If it hasn't exceeded the paint warranty, they will.fix it... Mine started peeling 4 months before the warranty expired. And they wil only fix what's peeled, even though they know all the areas it CAN peel. That's how they keep from spending so much more ey

Just a few months ago when i bought it, it had just started peeling on a small spot on the roof on the drivers side maybe 6-8in now it’s almost bigger than a ruler & there was a tiny spot maybe less than 2in on the pass side which it’s now close to 6 inches long every time it rains or snows it gets bigger by an inch or 2 or 3.!
I have a 09 ranger and paint is surprisingly good 👌 compared to newer cars out there and it's always been outdoors never garage kept and also the headlights from newer cars yellowed already and mine are still clear with some visible lines due to halogen bulb heat
Same exact spot on my 2015 Fit. Just got a White Orchid pearl paint warranty extension notice in the mail today. Extends to 7 yrs for 2015-18 Fit and 2016-2018 HR-V models.
Same issue over windshield on $36,000 2015 pilot with extended warrantee. Still making payments. Had to pay over $700 , Honda paid the other half. They said people use car washes. So you can’t wash your Honda? Other cars do just fine with suds. One month over three years and paint peels off and out of warrantee ( extended warrantee does not cover it). Beware.
I had the same issue on my 2014 Honda Accord. I took good care of my car. It’s peeling off and just getting worse overtime. It’s a factory paint defect. My car is out of warranty.
I too currently have 2008 white Honda Odyssey and have been peeling from same exact place and also started pealing around the back and on sides of van in small chips. But back and top is really really bad. I ran into a lady at a old homemade ice cream stand where she came over to my husband as he set inside the car waiting for me and asked him about our experience with Honda and there painting issues she had explained to him that she had been battling with them for a lawsuit over their cheap painting that doesn’t last. She explained that she had to pay out of pocket for a new paint job for her van. I have just last week put my van into the paint shop for new paint and gloss for preventative care and fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I will not have any more painting problems in years to come.
I have a Honda Odyssey 2014 with a few miles, but I found a bubble under the window of the rear driver’s door, and I injected it with some glue, but it distorted its shape. I think this problem occurs from the sun and rain and from washing the car
2013 Honda Pilot touring White - Roof between the windshield and the sunroof as well as the hood and parts of the engine bay all peeling in large chunks. Honda sent out an extended warranty to cover the roof, but not the hood. I have 4 Honda vehicles. No more for me.
I have the same problem with my 2015 Acura TLX. My car is also White like the two in this episode. Acura is only offering to cover 20% of the cost to repaint.
My 2014 Nissan Quest (Only Has about 70k Miles) white paint started peeling off from hood completely also from some spot on roof including rear fenders and trunk. I am in Southern California which there is no extreme weather to cause paint damage. I went to Nissan Dealer in City Of Industry and they agreed its manufacture defect but they don't do anything about it. They said; take it to Bodyshop for repair at your expense. I got quotes from $3500 to $4500 to fix the peeled off paint but all the Bodyshop technicians said that is not going be a good solution , because paint would start peeling off from other area and they recommended to remove the paint and repaint my car entirely which would cost from $9500 to $11000 .(All Bodyshop Specialists Were Agreed That Nissan Did Not Used Quality Paint and Underlayer Primer/ Preparation) I am really frustrated with this situation and need your advice .
My 2014 Honda Civic is doing the same thing. Peeling off in large chunks on the roof. I would like to join any lawsuit that may be pending. Honda is being very uncooperative about fixing it. I am really pissed at Honda for not standing up for their product!!
My 2011 beautiful pearl white Sonata began peeling after less than 3 years!!! It broke my heart. I live in Texas and hardly ever have snow and ice. I have had much older cars in the same environment and no peeling paint.
I have previously checked with our Hyundaii dealership here years ago when it first started peeling and I checked a couple years ago. I always got a "not our problem". Recently, I asked them and they said I could bring it by and they'd send pictures to the manufacturer and see if they could do anything for me. I'll let y'all know if I get anywhere with them. I hope y'all can get yours repainted! I do have a new engine due to mine seizing and nearly killing me and my girls.

Hyundai, Toyota, and Nissan also have this exact same peeling paint issue. It seems to be an industry change in either the type of paint and primer being used or the application method.
@@2DamnFast lucky us. I too have a Hyundai Elantra in pearl white. A 2018. No issues so far, but since my original comment I've learned Hyundai and other manufacturers use a newer type of paint that is water based. It's more environmentally friendly, but less durable.

I have a 2005 ford explorer and the paint is pealing on it the same way. I have been seeing the pealing on a lot of fords and chevy’s as well. This is not just a Honda problem and has been happening for several years.
Same here. Honda did take care of one area that was peeling by the sunroof, but now it’s spread to other areas. Had I known, I would have pushed them to repaint the entire vehicle. So frustrating.

My 2019 gmc sierra had small bubbles in the paint under the back door on the body then the paint fell off i took it to the local dealership were i purchased the truck ..they took pictures and the regional GM rejected the claim stated something toxic did it... which is nonsense....the truck was like this When i got it....im going to continue checking the paint ..im pretty sure I'll see more ...

yep my landlords hyundai had roof peel (also a white car), he rushed down to dealer for them to fix it....hes a good customer who got several cars from them...they fixed it in a few days

I have a 2018 Honda Fit EX, Orchid Pearl White and this afternoon I the paint peeled off my car’s roof (driver side) just like in this video. I was going to Macco but decided to Google Honda's paint job, and sure enough this is problematic for 2015-2018 Honda Fit and Honda HRV Orchid White Pearl vehicles. I'm going to contact my dealership ASAP.

Woke up one morning and found some peeled paint on the floor that matched my car color-I drive a 2018 Hyundai Sonata white color. Wasn’t able to locate where the paint may have peeled off and finally found the issue. A bunch had peeled off on the roof of my car and then the hood started peeling too. I live in sunny California and hardly rains. So for the past few days last week, we had rain and this was the result of it? Disappointed. I’m hoping Hyundai, Honda and Mitsubishi cover this for all who is experiencing this.
2015 through 2017 Ford Mustangs also have peeling paint around the rear window which ends up growing and going up the rear c pillars on to the rear quarters. Ford says it's not a factory defect and won't cover it. It looks exactly like this... the paint layer peeling off of the primer layer.
I have a 2014 Ridgeline truck and the paint is also peeling on the hood. It looks like no undercoat was ever put on it. . I contected Honda and was told it is out of warranty.
My 2004 odyssey hardly has any original paint left on it and back then there was a paint recall for all colors, except white. Guess what color my van is?

2015 honda owner with same issues on pearl white... i also had to replace the fuel injectors out of pocket when honda should have made a recall since they knew there was a deffect and changed the design about a year later...never buying honda again!
Chevy has the exact same problem and there is a class action suit with regard to it. The problem is the paint not adhering to the primer properly. Most paint and body shops are well aware of the problem.
Can you provide me that information about the lawsuit on Chevy? My Chevy Trax and others I’ve seen have the paint peeling off and Chevy doesn’t want to own their fault. My car has been garaged.
Just seen this video, here in the UK i have a 2013 honda civic pearl white and it started peeling 3 years ago, took it to the honda dealer and they didn't want to know and told me it was out of warranty... i will never buy another honda car again.
i took my 2015 honda fit pearl white car in several years ago (I think 2019) and they said too bad, that the recall is expired. I didn't act on the recall for a year or more because they paint wasn't peeling at all at that time.
My 2017 White Escape just started as well! Same place - along the pillars on both sides of the windshield plus starting at the top of the windshield. I take very good care of my car. It is always serviced at the Ford Dealership!. Has anyone had any success with Ford accepting responsibility. I only have 80K km on my car.

No primer. They sprayed a base coat on raw steel, and shot one cost of clear.

Hyundais have the same problem. My Santa Fe Sport is peeling just like this.

I got paint peeling off on the sides of my rear windshield on my 2016 honda civic lx. I dont know when to get a paintjob for it
I have a 2014 Ridgeline truck and the paint is also peeling on the hood. It looks like no undercoat was ever put on it. . I contected Honda and was told it is out of warranty.
Why all these videos about Honda? Toyota Corolla has this issue too and they won't make it good. $950 just to paint a bumper.

Common problem. Usually the clear coat peels. Now they are using water based paint and having more problems.

My 2004 odyssey hardly has any original paint left on it and back then there was a paint recall for all colors, except white. Guess what color my van is?

It rained the other night and I noticed the next day when I was driving down the road the paint was flaking off my ride.
Yup this batch of Hondas has major paint issues and we own one of them.. 😰 they need to fix the problem for everyone that purchased one.

2015 honda owner with same issues on pearl white... i also had to replace the fuel injectors out of pocket when honda should have made a recall since they knew there was a deffect and changed the design about a year later...never buying honda again!

Chevy has the exact same problem and there is a class action suit with regard to it. The problem is the paint not adhering to the primer properly. Most paint and body shops are well aware of the problem.
Can you provide me that information about the lawsuit on Chevy? My Chevy Trax and others I’ve seen have the paint peeling off and Chevy doesn’t want to own their fault. My car has been garaged.

Just seen this video, here in the UK i have a 2013 honda civic pearl white and it started peeling 3 years ago, took it to the honda dealer and they didn't want to know and told me it was out of warranty... i will never buy another honda car again.
i took my 2015 honda fit pearl white car in several years ago (I think 2019) and they said too bad, that the recall is expired. I didn't act on the recall for a year or more because they paint wasn't peeling at all at that time.

My 2017 White Escape just started as well! Same place - along the pillars on both sides of the windshield plus starting at the top of the windshield. I take very good care of my car. It is always serviced at the Ford Dealership!. Has anyone had any success with Ford accepting responsibility. I only have 80K km on my car.
Hyundai is doing the same. $160 for the two stage paint. Now I have a days worth of work sanding and repainting.
