Hi there Rick!! My hats off to you I am so impressed with what you are doing. My name is Vernon Gowsell I live up here north of the 49th . Yeah a Canuck . Back in 1980 up to 1987 I was chasing your dream except then I was living back in Saskatchewan . I managed to collect 6 of 58 apaches' an 4 of them were 6cylinder Three spd column shft the other 2 were v8 spd 283 ci 327 ci. Damn I love them trucks . Then I went soft between the ears yes sir . I got married then work got slow in farm country baby was due in Oct me23 years old so to be the dad an husband I sold off my first loves to keep my then wife and new family . Well hindsight is 20/20 she was gone in less time than I took to find first three trucks. That's life . Now I watch your program ever since I stumbled across it . I am 51 and I would give my right nut just to help you bring them all back to life . I prefer turning wrenches to driving .The last 20 years I been working then latter foreman of truck an trailer repair an custom fan shop for a friend . Recently he too was taken down by divorce, the courts awarded her the business an she closed doors an sold out to developers who pushed over the shops to build condominiums. Sorry I just started to babble .However I wish you all the best to KEEP ON WITH THE RESCUES AND GOD BLESS U AN YOUR LITTLE LADY . Ps my motto has always been " the more people I meet the more I like dogs. vern
Awesome catch!right right &right! Jamie rocks. Wa jammn🎶 You 2 r a great team. "Oh Jee, I don't know. It might be junk". Congrats you guys. Oh yeah. The foot pedal was made fer Jamie😘 God bless, u2. Signed, phlip on 66✌😎👍
Awesome morning Rick and Jamie !!! Another awesome find !!! Great to see how you came to rescue banana rammer !!!! As always Another classic truck rescue executed perfectly !!! Especially watching Jamie drive !!!! Yall are awesome 👌 !!! Pray yall have an awesome day 😀
Nothing could be more appropriate than rescuing classic trucks WITH a classic truck. Tinker is a very cool truck and I know you appreciate what a tremendous thing it is to find a truck, that old, in such fantastic condition. I really enjoy you and Jamie and your videos, keep them coming and I'll keep watching.
great job! that's a cool set up you have there. and you are right . a few tweeks and it will be gravey. ive been where you are with the come a long. believe me your back will thank you later in life if it doesn't already. I share your love of old trucks. current ride is 1976 chevy 4x4 camper special. 95% original. if I had the space and money id be doing just what you are. thank you for taking the time to save the past. here's to many more years of adding stock to the classic truck ranch! as for me i'll continue to watch as I start the rebuild of my camper special. my daughter wants it drive in high school to pull her horse trailer. she loves the old truck as much as I do.
Rick..I dig the way you and Jamie treat your trucks like family..i surely can relate....love your style..and they are always feel good videos..thx..Rich
It was watching this video that inspired me to look for a medium duty 2nd series Chevy to use as a truck hauler. A year ago I found a 59 Viking 40 with only 41,000 mile still pretty much original condition in AZ. I'v been using it at a Boy Scout camp I volunteer at but I'll be driving it back home soon (Chino CA.) to cut and lengthen the frame 4' and make it a 18' flat bed with a beaver tail, have a 12,000# electric winch already for it.
How cool is that !! A classic still on the job..You see Jamie & Rick, your older videos are still pulling in interested viewers like me...Like I always tell you, I am catching up..But man, you have a lot of videos . It will take me a while but I am enjoying the journey..
joel mccoin Amen to that! You guys really are fun to watch! I just discovered your vids today. Keep up the good work saving them old beasts from the crusher. Below is a poem, or rather, a rap song, I wrote for Classic Truck Rescue. If it don't run Well, that ain't no fun If it's a pile of rust With paint that's lost it's lust' Or even worse Cancer that is a curse Or though it be roasted Just so long as it ain't too toasted Or even if it's a bit banged up Still let it not be fanged up Yea, even if it's a total wreck But there's still parts that ain't a-bust Even then, if possible, restore it like new But if it's too far gone To give it it's just due Lest it consume too much time and mon' Then at least a rat-rod make it Or let it surrender every last good part That others like it may have a new start Or at the very least let it a large garden bedeck For it is a crime to forsake it Cuz there's hardly an excuse To cut a vintage vehicle loose By letting a wrecker tow it away To a yard will they stow it away But at least there is still a chance slight That a hobbyist will catch the sight Of your elderly four wheeled steed That has only a good home need And therefore he adopts it as his own Before it falls prey to no more be known For when it at last is parted out Surely then it will be carted out To the terminator who will a vintage vehicle crush Now for this there is no excuse To a hobbyist, this is surely an abuse And if this happens, it's your bad Therefore if this fate be to you too sad And you be not yourself to revive it be disposed And the old lady says to lose it or lose her Then here is what ought to be proposed That while in your mind this matter is astir To your phone or online right this minute rush If you have a classic truck that needs a haul Be it racked up, wrecked up, roasted, or rusted Then give CLASSIC TRUCK RESCUE a click or a call Before your marriage becomes oh so busted
You two are great. Fun to watch, you two are good together. I wish I had the means to do something like this. I can't imagine how to make a living at it. Glad your doing what you can. These are beautiful machines and deserve rescue.
Hey guys, i told you (a couple weeks ago)it was a dream of mine to purchase a truck once. Guess what, i just bought myself a truck! A 74' c20 camper special. Here in holland they cost a fortune and as a student its hard to buy a truck like this. Couldn't be happier!!
That gas truck at the end is awesome! Your lot is incredible. I love these old trucks as I have a 1958 GMC 100 series myself thats getting some much needed love. Thanks for the great videos
+KU4PC Tinker is pretty handy for hauling the small pickups, but if you want to see the solution I came up with for hauling bigger trucks, be sure to watch the 'Homer" Videos. thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
Tinker's Truck-Hauling days are over. The bed and the grain box are still in great shape and I put them back on before Parking it undercover. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
Luke Duke Well, I'd say I'm sorry, but it wouldn't be true. If it makes you feel any better, I keep him in a nice dry warm barn and he gets to come out and play when its nice out. -Rick
That was one sweet find! My brother in law has a 59 Cameo that has been in the family since 1963 but it was semi customized in the late 60's with 4 wheel drive out of a 63 4 x 4 Chevy panel that had been rolled. It used to run a Corvette 327 and I loved driving that thing when gas was .36 a gallon for premium ha ha! I am curious as to how much you paid for this 58. :)
Love tinker. Just a good old boy picked up that truck like it was nothing do you have out Riggers on tinker so it doesn't pop a wheelie when you go to use the rollback pulling up vehicle? Like your videos think you and your girl are awesome!!
No, we don't have outriggers on Tinker because we started using our tow truck "Homer" and our trailers for hauling. Tinker is nestled-away in his own covered spot now. I'll show that in my next video. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
+Ricky c Cook I kind of want to leave Tinker alone. Pretty difficult to find a truck that old with 36,000 original miles in completely original condition. I have other trucks that would be better candidates for a rollback. I do agree that a rollback would make my life much easier. Thank you Ricky and Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
towrecker I gave that a lot of thought, but I don't think I would be comfortable removing Tinker's original bed. What I am going to do instead is build an extension for the bed that is hinged at the rear. When you get ready to haul something, the extension will just flip over on the back, automatically adding 6-feet to the length of the deck and doubling as a ramp when you lift the hoist. Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
Classic Truck Rescue better yet , find a rusted out old steel rollback , and just use the slide , keep the bed you have , and just extend it ,then all your doing is adding the slide rails , to make it slide back , and you might add some plumbing to be able to move the bed up and down at the rear , but you will retain everything that is already there ... also leaving the doors open when loading is a bad idea , I have fixed my drivers door 3 times in the last 20+ years , the checks wear , and will snap , I am sure you have seen the damage , and not thought about it , we would all cry if it happened to him ...
How long is Tinker's bed? I just rescued a 1955 6400 from the Stayton/Scio area and brought it home to Aumsville. I was thinking of using it to haul cars, and am curious how my bed might compare to yours. I'm just surprised I was able to buy it before you did!
+pvfjr I haven't really been buying many trucks lately. Have to build a home for the ones I have. 55 6400 is a good score. I believe Tinker's bed is 18 feet long. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
Any chance you guys have a grill for a 61 Spartan? Building a tow truck and would love to get a new grill, was a fire truck and they cut the lower part to run the pto shaft through. Love what your doing.
Sorry Hiram, I haven't really branched off into the 60-66 Chevy & GMC stuff yet. Sounds like a neat project though and good luck with it. Thanks fer Watchin' -Rick

By the way, I commend you for doing something cool and meaningful with your time. good job and Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
Hey Rick you got to check out adventures made-from-scratch Silas he's on TH-cam that he's got a lot of them old trucks that you're buying and picks it up
+Joe Nichols I sell trucks all the time. You can't rescue trucks by hoarding them. I try to make a little money to pay for my expenses, but I do not try to get rich off them. Thank you, -Rick
I wouldn't do this kind of stunt. Looks too dangerous to me. If you encounter sudden stop or have to make sudden lane change to avoid obstacle it wouldn't hold. Center of gravity seems way too high, and weight is not well distributed.
When I was a kid, I only liked the single-headlight trucks. Now they are still my favorite, but the dual headlight trucks have grown on me and they have increased in popularity with a lot of other people too.

joel mccoin Amen to that! You guys really are fun to watch! I just discovered your vids today. Keep up the good work saving them old beasts from the crusher. Below is a poem, or rather, a rap song, I wrote for Classic Truck Rescue.
If it don't run
Well, that ain't no fun
If it's a pile of rust
With paint that's lost it's lust'
Or even worse
Cancer that is a curse
Or though it be roasted
Just so long as it ain't too toasted
Or even if it's a bit banged up
Still let it not be fanged up
Yea, even if it's a total wreck
But there's still parts that ain't a-bust
Even then, if possible, restore it like new
But if it's too far gone
To give it it's just due
Lest it consume too much time and mon'
Then at least a rat-rod make it
Or let it surrender every last good part
That others like it may have a new start
Or at the very least let it a large garden bedeck
For it is a crime to forsake it
Cuz there's hardly an excuse
To cut a vintage vehicle loose
By letting a wrecker tow it away
To a yard will they stow it away
But at least there is still a chance slight
That a hobbyist will catch the sight
Of your elderly four wheeled steed
That has only a good home need
And therefore he adopts it as his own
Before it falls prey to no more be known
For when it at last is parted out
Surely then it will be carted out
To the terminator who will a vintage vehicle crush
Now for this there is no excuse
To a hobbyist, this is surely an abuse
And if this happens, it's your bad
Therefore if this fate be to you too sad
And you be not yourself to revive it be disposed
And the old lady says to lose it or lose her
Then here is what ought to be proposed
That while in your mind this matter is astir
To your phone or online right this minute rush
If you have a classic truck that needs a haul
Be it racked up, wrecked up, roasted, or rusted
Then give CLASSIC TRUCK RESCUE a click or a call
Before your marriage becomes oh so busted

+George Middleton Jr Deep in the heart of Oregon is where we love to be my Friend. God Bless you also and Thanks Again Fer Watchin' -Rick
Tinker did the job well !!! But of course, it's a GMC, so I knew it would do a good job :)
IronClad292 Tinker is definitely enjoying his place in the barn, but he gets to come out and play a lot more than he did.
I love watching the video's with in cab rides :-) the sound of those old trucks working its joyous :-)

a tool box for chains, binders etc. would help. check out the newer rollbacks for ideas. you have one beautiful hauler! Paul
Joanne Erb It already has a toolbox under the bed just behind the passenger's side door. Looks like a fuel tank, but it has a hinged lid on it. -Rick
I still have most of my 55 first series NAPCO that i drove in high school! missing the transfercase and bed!

Very nice. Save you a lot time and money , if the sliding deck was 3-4 feet longer. Nice work . Mike

a Grain Body Rollback ... cool ..!!
It was fun...Thank you.
AKA, "Why roll back"!...enjoyed the video. Double wench wire next time, heavier ramps!
Tinker's Truck-Hauling days are over. The bed and the grain box are still in great shape and I put them back on before Parking it undercover. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
LOL
The word is "winch."
A "wench" is olde English for a barmaid, a tavern waitress, or a woman of disrepute.
LOL
Hi I'm new to your videos and I love your trucks.
This video I had to watch it's so cool because that's our family name Tinker. Lol
Bought that sucker quick NICE
Wow, this truck was just a few miles from me.
Well..you live in a nice area. I got it running yesterday. Will upload a video of "Banana-Rammer" Tonight. -Rick
Build a loading dock at the ranch, be easier! Build your own trailer, better. Maybe more heavy tiedowns?
I agree about the loading dock.
i saw that on CL and was about to go look at it
Luke Duke Well, I'd say I'm sorry, but it wouldn't be true. If it makes you feel any better, I keep him in a nice dry warm barn and he gets to come out and play when its nice out. -Rick
yes it does have fun with him.
I'll bet that was a fun drive on Skyline.
It was..got a lot of curious looks.

what a beautiful truck, I'm so jealous haha! I bet that things a brute
The pin striping was don by Dan Donica and he is still in business in Hillsboro Oregon check around the fuel inlet there should be a nasty pic there
love your show.why don't you find a used rollback bed and put it on ole tinker?it would màke your job so easy .and it would look so cool. Rc from LA.
+Ricky c Cook I kind of want to leave Tinker alone. Pretty difficult to find a truck that old with 36,000 original miles in completely original condition. Hey Rick how ya doing. Do you guy's ever find 1955-59 or older Chevy Gmc Suburban's & panel truck's???? There getting so rare to find in good cond.
+69ChevroletNova I do find them, but as you said, not usually in good condition. Thank you, -Rick
what you should do is look for a cheap old rollback wrecker , and transplant the bed on there , it will prove worth it ...
towrecker I gave that a lot of thought, but I don't think I would be comfortable removing Tinker's original bed. What I am going to do instead is build an extension for the bed that is hinged at the rear. Is that hood stock?
Its a stock hood, but it was welded to the fenders and grill to make a one-piece tilt front end.
Rick, Nice find. I have been looking for a Napco 4x4 for years. Can you help me find one? Thanks Scott
Ody Slim What year? -Rick
so what did you pay for it?
Any chance you guys have a grill for a 61 Spartan? Building a tow truck and would love to get a new grill, was a fire truck and they cut the lower part to run the pto shaft through. Love what your doing.

+LawnWolf If you send me a message (rick@classictruckrescue.com) I will see what I can find. Thank you, -Rick
Hello, I have a question, Why don't you have your name on the side of the trucks you use?
I found the same truck asTinker I am trying to get it and save it
+kathy lassa Good for you. Go get it, you won't regret it. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
I'm only 17 and I'm getting ready to do a 1956 Ford F-250. It hasn't run in 18 years and is a disaster. My question for you is, where should I start?
+DollaBill Start with trying to get it running. Then you can determine what condition the engine, trans and running gear are in. I would recommend watching my "Old Yeller" video and possible the Gomer video and the Bananarammer video. pretty sure I went over waking up an old truck in some of those videos. By the way, I commend you for doing something cool and meaningful with your time. good job and Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
+Classic Truck Rescue thanks for the advice sir, means alot.
+DollaBill No problem. -Rick

I wouldn't do this kind of stunt. Looks too dangerous to me. If you encounter sudden stop or have to make sudden lane change to avoid obstacle it wouldn't hold. Center of gravity seems way too high, and weight is not well distributed.
Nice video! Rock on and keep rescuing the beautiful!

When I was a kid, I only liked the single-headlight trucks. Now they are still my favorite, but the dual headlight trucks have grown on me and they have increased in popularity with a lot of other people too.
