    Not a celebrity request but it may be useful to continue this as a series - where you show how one type can have many different variations or look confusing/unexpected. It's so confusing when you think you've settled on a type and then you see the examples and you think "oh I don't look like that so I must not be that type". I especially like when you talk about the "overall effect" and how one contrasting answer doesn't tip the balance.

    I don't quite understand the argument that she's too cutesy to be a Dramatic. Being a Dramatic does not equal being regal, sophisticated etc. It only tells you the lines that you look best in, not what style or persona you should adopt. There's even a video on this channel on how a Soft Dramatic can adopt a kawaii style. There's a lot of misinformation being spread in the Kibbe community and this comment section certainly reflects that. Kibbe's name should not be attached to any argument suggesting that Taylor Swift is a Gamine as it goes directly against Kibbe's teachings. Merriam, I wish you would be more transparent about the fact that the method you use to determine people's body types is not purely based on the Kibbe system, especially considering the fact that you charge money from people who wish to know their Kibbe type.

    • @ladyvignette
      @ladyvignette 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      But what if, as is the case with Taylor, she doesn't look good in the Dramatic lines?

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I hadn't known that Kibbe classified her as a dramatic, but he has reclassified people in the past (even from theatrical romantic to flamboyant natural, I'm sure you know!), so I'm holding out hope that he'll reclassify Taylor!
      It would actually be very dishonest of me to say that I don't use Kibbe's system, because it wouldn't give credit where credit is due. People know that I'm not affiliated with Kibbe, and I don't pretend to be, and they also know that it's my own interpretation. Sometimes you don't always have to say 'this is my opinion this is my opinion' over and over again......of course, it's my opinion.
      About charging money for body typing, I'm fortunate to make a bit of money doing what I love. I'm a personal stylist and I'm still developing my philosophy, but I use many tools to help my clients, not only Kibbe's system. Although I love Kibbe body typing and think it's one of the best tools out there, I also use other tools such as ethereal typology, and my own color analysis system that has nothing to do with Kibbe at all. I just try to use the best out there, and give credit where credit is due (for example with Kitchener as well).
      My clients pay for my opinion because they think it's valuable enough and maybe they like what they see from my videos in terms of my philosophy and approach to personal style, and I'm happy and grateful for that.
      They know that it's 'my thoughts' on their body type, and I even have a disclaimer at the end of the style report sample that says only Kibbe himself can give you your Kibbe body type, and I make it clear enough that people are paying for my interpretation.
      Maybe I'll make a video about it and share my thoughts just to be sure that everyone knows that it's my interpretation.....................but I'm pretty sure everyone knows.
      If I had known that Kibbe had classified Taylor as dramatic, I would have said so in the video, or not made the video at all. It wasn't meant to be misinformation!

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Oh wait I just reread even the first part of your comment too Swoopiify....very strange that you interpreted that I think Taylor is gamine somehow because she's cute.....that's not what I said in the video at all, and I would never in my life say that, I think that's a very harmful stereotype. I say that body type is a set of lines and not a style as often as humanly possible.......I just have no idea how you got that.
      The only thing I can even think of is that I said she looked cute in a dress. Can I not say that Taylor 'looks cute'....as in, colloquially 'looks cute in that dress'. very strange! Did I ever say that she 'was cute' and that it ever had anything to do with her type--I don't think I did??

    • @Swoopiify
      @Swoopiify 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@merriamstyle The first part of my comment was more in response to what I've seen others write in the comments, because you did indeed not use that argument. I'm sorry I may have come across too harshly, I don't mean to disrespect you as your work actually has been very helpful to me. Your theory on colors are brilliant and have been very eye opening to me. You also have very interesting ideas about body types though I personally don't agree with everything (Taylor being a Gamine for example). What I find a bit frustrating is just that Kibbe's name is being attached to various things here on the internet that actually doesn't correlate with his teachings and he has expressed frustration over that. I do think that may be partly his own fault though since the only resources available are an out of print book from the 80s and a closed group on Facebook where he'll occasionally post. There has been some changes in his theories over the years but he hasn't done much to spread the word around so no wonder people are confused.
      I don't have a problem with you making money off of this, but I think it's important when you're inspired by someone that you don't let clients believe that it's Kibbe typing them because essentially the only one who can type according to Kibbe is Kibbe himself, the rest of us can only guess.

      I’m very certain that Taylor is dramatic with ingenue essence. If you covered Taylor’s eyes, nose and mouth...you can see that she’s a dramatic, she’s tall, with a narrow frame, sharp bones, taut flesh, long hands and feet. Same thing with Lily Cole, cover her face, and she’s soft dramatic. They’re both young and both have that youthful/gamine/ingenue essence. That youthful essence can be brought out in photo shoots, on catwalks and on stages, through gamine/ingenue stylization and they will look ‘cute’ and they will stand out...but imagine if they were non-celebrities? they would look abit silly walking around town in lines meant for smaller, shorter people.

    • @cutienerdgirl
      @cutienerdgirl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@fatoumfatoumeh Body typing isn't an essence. She's a soft gamine because she's a random mixture of Yin and Yang, you don't have to be short to be in the gamine category and her body is too curvy and too soft to be dramatic. She looks shorter, has a curvy body, and has a child-like face.

    • @fatoumfatoumeh
      @fatoumfatoumeh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Pink You need to understand the meaning of the word ‘gamine’, and the history behind the term. Gamine is used to refer to women who are ‘petite with a boyish charm’ (eg. Natalie Portman, Winona Ryder, Kelly Osbourne, Lady Gaga) or delicately ‘waif-ish’ (Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn), ie. They are small in size, with a short vertical line, and often with a larger head relative to their body (their proportions are abit child-like or like a young teen to describe it best)...this is where their Yin comes from, otherwise they wouldn’t be gamine. Taylor Swift looks very tall, slim. She looks more like a runaway model than a petite waif. She has a cute girlish face, but it’s a dramatic face still, on a tall, narrow and sleek dramatic body. It doesn’t matter if there is abit of added flesh, the overall impression is tall and narrow rather than small, and that is what makes one a ‘dramatic’. I am with Kibbe on this one. Taylor looks great in color-blocking, but so do a lot of dramatics and dramatic classics (you can look up Amal Clooney, Courtney Cox, Jackie O, etc). In those pictures where Taylor dresses cutesy, she was younger, more ingenue looking. Young fashion models (with Taylor’s proportions) are made to wear girly, cutesy stuff in photo shoots and on runways all the time, and it looks fun and cute, because it’s age-appropriate and because it’s something people expect pretty young girls to wear, regardless of their height or shape...not because all those tall girls are gamines. These days Taylor looks more womanly, and more of a dramatic, those short lines don’t work as well. Have you seen in her in dramatic and dramatic classic outfits? She looks fantastic in long lines...you’re definitely not a gamine if long lines in clothing look good on you.

  • @Lindsay_Mason
    @Lindsay_Mason 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Ok, I've been thinking about this a lot and I'm not persuaded by it and I'll tell you why.
    A major part of the argument here involves contrasting Taylor Swift with Keira Knightley, but Keira Knightley isn't the template for Dramatics. I'm not a Kibbe cultist by any means, but consider the range of women he types as Dramatic: Cate Blanchett, Claire Danes, Maggie Smith, Tilda Swinton, Kate Moss. They all look quite different superficially, but they can all be characterized as having features that are sharp, angular, prominant, and elongated. So simply contrasting Taylor Swift with Keira Knightley isn't a sufficient basis for concluding they are different types.
    (On the other end of the spectrum, think how different these Romantics are: Drew Barrymore, Beyonce, Christina Ricci, Elizabeth Taylor...)
    Taylor Swift likes to wear gamine looks, and they're fine because she's beautiful and slim, and some are better than others, but in general I think they make her look like a giant. She *looks* tall. Watching video of her, it's clear how strong (yang) her bone structure is. Photos can be deceiving. Watch video of a few Dramatics, then watch video of a few Gamines. In motion, you can see a big difference in the "weight" of their bones.
    Taylor Swift also pulls off a blunt, heavy fringe/bang as only a Dramatic can. I think that hairstyle would be too heavy on a Gamine. (Google Cate Blanchett with bangs for an interesting comparison.)
    At root, I think the issue here is a too-narrow idea of Dramatics that, to be honest, I think begins with Merriam. I understand she's typed herself as a Soft Gamine. I know we can only see her face, but I don't see any softness in her face at all. She has a square jaw, prominent cheekbones, narrow and straight eyes, thin lips. (Compare a young Maggie Smith, a Dramatic. Also watch videos of Aly Art or Jenna Coleman, Soft Gamines, to see how much finer their bone structure is.)

    I understand your process but I don't see gamine for Taylor swift, The most noticeable thing about her is lenght, long narrow sharps bone structure.
    I get it when you say that the vertical line is just one answer to the test but I truly believe that some questions like vertical line should have more weight as what we look for is a harmonious overall look so the overall impression, the big picture has imo more weight than let's say the shape of the eyes.
    I truly see a dramatic bone structure for her and some more yin after, added, maybe not enough to put her with SD but more than some D but her overall appearance is closer to D to me.

      @realSimoneCherie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah my understanding of the book is that all of the types have height restrictions, because we can be short or tall “looking” for our height but realistically: no 6 footer is going to look petite no matter what.
      At Taylor’s height she only has two options: D types or N types. With her facial flesh alone I’d rule out D, and FN, which leaves SD, N, or SN.

    • @katitadeb

      You're focusing too much on her body and not on her features. Her face is not long or narrow tho, her lips are full and her nose is short and rounded, as well as her cheeks look soft, she doesn't have that dry look on her face, and her facial bone structure is not prominent nor aggressive (TR has some sharpness but not prominence) that's too much yin for a D, and you're ignoring all of her softness and talking only about her eyes and height.
      She has a pretty yang body, but a soft face, something contradictory, and that's what gamine is: ramdon contradictions

    • @jhoward5011

      i feel like she is a soft classic (a bit tall for a classic but somewhere in the classic family). Her facial features are evenly spaced not too sharp not too curved very blended and moderate as apposed to mixed. her bone structure is yang dominant but her flesh in yin. i've noticed when she wears heavy eye makeup and nude lip combination it look out of balance on her. but when her makeup is balanced and her hair is tidy it really suits her (kind of has a 50's style element). i think people only think she is a gamine because she wears a lot of gamine type clothes. to me she looks quite restricted in them, but when she wears clothes that are high waisted or give a slight waist definition looks really good on her.

      @@jhoward5011 I understand where you're coming from, but realistically classic is the least suitable type for her after romantic, because of this huge clash between her extremely long vertical line and her literal baby-face. Her face looks to me almost like a cute 12-year-old's, if you forget about who she is in reality, while she also looks like a skyscraper (metaphorically). That's the complete opposite of a balanced body! Nothing about her is moderate.

    David kibbe no longer uses gamine, classic, or natural anymore. Taylor is a kibbe verified dramatic. This is his system that he created so only he can say for sure. I agree that she does look good in gamine outfits but that doesn’t change her image ID. Personal style is not the same as an image ID and David actually says this. Katy Perry is a soft natural and looks great in her gamine looks as well but she’s still a soft natural. It’s all about someone’s personal yin and yang balance. Not every dramatic looks like Tilda Swinton and not every dramatic will look good every tailored suit because everyone is different. The test from the book Metamorphosis is one that he no longer uses today. It was written in 1988 so he has updated his system and how he determines someone’s yin and yang balance. He says to not compare celebrities because it causes confusion and that just looking at some pictures is not enough to determine someone’s body type.

    I think this is an example that shows that essences of the face (like Kitchener) sometimes should be mixed in with the kibbe system. I can relate so much with this example, being quite tall and dramatic frame but a clear youthfulness and softness in my face and body mixed in
    I do think that Taylor is a bit more D than G though. She looks really “stretched” in the gamine outfits to me.

    She is very tall and has very long arms and legs. These are her most noticeable characteristics. This, alone, can tell us that she is one of the three: Flamboyant Natural, Dramatic or Soft Dramatic. If she were a FN, she would be wider in bones and she would probably have more width to her shoulders, back, ribcage. If she were a SD, she would be curvy, and she is definitely not. When we look at her, we don't see any prominent curves. So she can only be dramatic.

      Ummmm... Regardless that her hands are small (D) her bust line (chest C/waist C/hips C) is moderate and proportional , her shoulders are sloped (D) and her cheeks are full (D) ?

      @@JW-uq9yt even though it is obvious that you are going through the questions of the quiz, which David Kibbe does not recommend anymore, I am still gonna answer to what you 're saying.
      Her hands don't seem to be small, they look more like dramatic hands to me, long and narrow. Her shoulders are not sloped, they are quite sharp. And her cheeks are indeed soft.
      Now, when it comes to her proportions, she does have a slightly defined waist, but *every type can have a defined waist*. When we say that a dramatic body will have a straight waist, we don't mean a straight straight line, everyone can have some waist definition.
      The important thing is to look at a body on the whole. We need to see what a woman's most imposing features are, instead of looking at small, individual characteristics. Some softness in the cheeks and a small waist cannot change someone's yin and yang balance. So yeah, to me, she still looks like a dramatic. Do you think that she is close to any other type?

For example, the men called Dramatic seemed to lean more towards what I would call Naturals since things like width were mentioned as a characteristic but for Dramatic women it's not, it's angularity and sharp bones not bluntness.

    Looking at the comments, some people have suggested analysing male celebrities for their Kibbe types - I would find that fascinating. I know Aly Art did a couple of videos on this, but I would love to the topic explored more.
    Another thing - Some people seem to be rather offended that Merriam classified Taylor as a gamine! I would just say that I can definitely see where Merriam is coming from and even just from looking at the thumbnail of the video it was already obvious that Taylor has a far more delicate and soft face than Keira (I had guessed she was a FG rather than G, but nevermind). After all, are gamines not a mixture of opposites!? Who's to say that her height couldn't be one of her yang traits, or that gamines always have to be short? Audrey Hepburn, another gamine, is not that much shorter than Taylor, either. Regarding the statement that Taylor is a Kibbe-verified Dramatic - well, who knows how thoroughly he looks at modern celebrities? Was it an off the cuff classification in answer to someone's question, or did he inspect her pictures thoroughly? Who knows? I'd rather trust the evidence in front of my eyes and I think Merriam has presented a good case here.

      I think sh'es also a gamine just going off of what lines seem to look best on her. Also, if she were shorter, we would all say gamine the second we looked at her. We should be careful not to let one answer deter us. She wears a lot of dramatic lines on Instagram, but I think they make her look a little childish, like she's playing dress up in daddy's clothes. In the pics where she's wearing proper gamine lines, she looks so good. Horizontal stripes are amazing for her. The short skirts and boxy tops suit here well. But when she gets too out there and into flamboyant gamine craziness, she looks overdone. So I would say gamine.

    She looks great in certain clothes but ignoring bones Kibbe’s system really defeats the purpose. All of the types have height restrictions. This is important because even if we can appear to be short or tall “looking” for our height, realistically: no 6 footer is going to look meek no matter what, and no 5 footer is going to look intimidating no matter what.
    At 5”10 Taylor is a very tall woman.
    At Taylor’s height she only has two options: D types or N types.
    With her facial flesh alone I’d rule out D, and FN, which leaves SD, N, or SN.
    Taylor likes to dress like a fairy or Barbie doll, but just look her up in the all white pantsuit, or white jumpsuit. It’s definitely her best look.

I feel like gamines always being short is just one of those stereotypes that prevent system from effectively working idk

    • @bethanyday3471
      @bethanyday3471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      actually the whole point of a gamine is a blatant mix of ying and yang. many gamines are known for having long limbs. audrey hepburn is one of them. she has quite long arms and legs. flamboyant gamine is especially known for having long arms. they tend to call it a petite vertical line. because they have a long vertical line, but then look very delicate or the line can appear broken. and i certainly wouldn't type gamine as being wide, which is what is associated with stacatto. twiggy was also a gamine. they have long arms and small hands. tailors torso also looks short in comparison to the rest of her body. while most dramatics dont look like they have short torsos, nor do they have sloped and rounded shoulders like tailor does. though some gamines can be wide - it just doesn't appear to be common in the gamines i have seen (that have been kibbe verified typed, or typed by Northrup or McKinsey, or by any of the various you tubers who do typing). and I completely agree with Jenny Penny, this height obsession that kibbe followers have just prevents the system from working correctly. she looks small and delicate regardless of her vertical line.

    • @realSimoneCherie
      @realSimoneCherie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      They are short. Kibbe does not allow for tall gamines or short dramatics. People always want to fight this but really, it’s easily understood: gamine (childishness) in 6” people, isn’t really a thing; nor is a Amazonian/statuesque woman standing at 4”11....just doesn’t happen. She’s a dramatic or natural, who likes to wear baby doll clothes.
      Aubrey Hepburn isn’t comprable - she was malnourished (well documented) and at 88 pounds, who is to say if her healthier body weight at 5”7 would wear clothes the same way.

    I come from Strictly Kibbe group and sadly the height limit of Gamines is 5'4'' and Taylor is way taller. David Kibbe commented himself that it's impossible to 'squeeze' the existing height. She even looks almost too tall for all the short dresses she wears. But. Here's where Kibbe system has a huge flaw I would say - what about the inner style that has nothing to do with the height or facials structure - those two most prominent features that we notice the best and the most in people? Taylor Swift does give off the Gamine vibes and I like her in most of gaminish outfits.

    I feel like her body type is dramatic but her face has an Ingenue essence. She is too tall to be a Gamine. Gamine's have strong Yang but are little and have a pixie features to them. The reason why some of the more dramatic outfits look off on her is partly because she is a spring season, black is too harsh of a color and too cold for her season. Black looks best on some one who is a winter season which is bright, dark and cool.

    I think they beauty of Kibbe's typing lies in the vibes of the types too. I don't see Taylor as being "regal" as dramatics are described, nor classic. However, gamine description fits her spirit better: "piquant chic". On some blog there was also this interesting guide that makes you think what is your "breakthrough role". What are you playing? Femme fatale, girl next door, street urchin... I find that fun and quite fitting to the Kibbe types. I think it's usually pretty telling what the real actors' break through roles were too.
    Do you type men too? I think Taylor is similar to Nicholas Hoult, tall, depicted dramatic at first glance... But is he a gamine?
    I struggle seeing Kirsten Dunst as soft classic, though she is verified by Kibbe. I don't think her features are that balanced. What do you think about Cara Delevigne, Natalie Dormer and Hannah Murray? They seem like some type of gamine to me, but the two first mentioned have been (I guess) verified as naturals. Maybe I'm confusing ingenue essence with being gamine.

    As I have mentioned on Lily Cole's video (and I'm not Kibbe enthusiast by no means), cherry picking photos can lead to wrong conclusions. Photos are not real life. Movement, angle, light can be very, very deceiving. I truly appreciate your effort and incredible work and thoughtfulness you put into your content. However, I can't agree on a hypothesis that height is not important for the body lines/type of clothing that looks good on us. We are dressing our body, not our face which can match our body type or not. Carefully styling our best lines and our make up/hair, we can achieve harmony, or pull off disharmony, a contrast which can be also interesting and aesthetically appealing. Chosen outfits simply don't fit her properly and are wrong choice for her within her best lines. She is wearing oversize, ill fitting yellow suit which was most probably taken from men's department. Suit inspired by men's lines should be made to fit female body in shape and size. When done right, men's inspired clothes on female body can look very powerful and erotic.
    Taylor is rocking this white tailored suit which would suit fabulously tall/yang bone structure types like D, SD and FN. Her mostly soft face looks great in them as well. White suit has very D lines with touch of SD, but her sandals soften the look making connection with her face, whilst her dramatic, straight lined hairdo and slightly dramatic make up support clean, sharp lines of the suit. Her bangs are touch of softness which ties well with rounded edges of the jacket and with not overly soft sandals (essentially geometric, although oval shaped design). She looks stunning and very well put together here. Black suit is also matched to her geometric, straight hairdo and minimal make up with dramatic toe nail polish. Both looks are very well thought out.

      I checked the white suit you refer, it is a very fitted suit with waist emphasis, it is a classic line (maximum dramatic classic line) , not dramatic line tho. Btw I dived in to see Tylor in different styles, I do think she need very fitted and more details in her outfit, plain outfit makes her look dull, drag her down a little bit.

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JW-uq9yt It's a mistake that D lines look like male's clothes. It is a male like cut, but adjusted to female body. That's why Taylor looks rubbish in oversize men's suits she used to wear on stage. The white suit is how D lines look on female body - if they are adjusted to fit her properly. The misconception about D body image derives from the fact that key image for D's is Tilda S. who is not just D, she is androgynous which is entirely different aesthetics. Lauren Bacall, Milla Jovovich, Cate Blanchett are D's. Taylor's face and body image don't match and her outfits need certain 'sync' approach, to make them work for both her face and her body. Besides, Kibbe insists that 'there is no certain body image lines' (pretty incoherent IMO), but all body images can wear all lines if adjusted to them properly. If you check oldies (moves from 50's i.e.) you'll find out that most of Hollywood stars who are faces for certain Kibbe body images are wearing everything but what they were supposed to according to Kibbe. Marilyn was so rarely seen in frills, bows and almost never in florals, i.e. I don't see much sense in Kibbe, frankly. All tall women are squeezed into 3 types while it's obvious that more types are needed to suit all body images that taller ladies may have. Especially those who are tall, but not lush enough to fit SD, dry or straight enough to fit D or athletic and straight enough to fit FN. To my eyes, Nicole Kidman is not FN, Cate Blanchet is not D...etc. I see Taylor and Lilly Cole, i.e, just like the majority of super models in the missing category, where tall, lean but well defined although not overly lush women would fit perfectly.

      @@JW-uq9yt I understand your point. From my point of view, anything tailored, fitted and/or structured or made of stiff material is rather yang and dramatic when it comes to vibe and aesthetic. Softened edges make nice balance with her soft face, but in general, the suit has long lines, it's very fitted, tailored and structured, giving feminine tux 3 piece vibe. The trousers are not cropped, neither is the blazer. To me, it's a D line suit with softened edges which would look good on many different body images. Regarding her body image, I still feel that Kibbe doesn't cater to tall people and that quite a few types for taller ladies are missing in his system as well as update when it comes to height limitations. Many tall women are mistyped just because they are tall. Kibbe needs to deal with basic principles which are incoherent, biased and inconsistent. He typed some people based on their face, others based on their body lines, just height or 'vibe'. It makes sense only to him, which is fine. but rather confusing and impossible for many people to get practical value from it.

    These are very cherry picked photos, Taylor is undoubtedly a dramatic. She has a clear, long physical vertical line that needs accommodation, there is no getting around that, in real life people don't just see your proportions, they see your physical length. The height limits are there for a reason. But I wouldn't expect anything else from someone who types themselves as a soft gamine despite being much too tall and yang-looking. This is clearly a cope.

Another one I have seen that 'debunked' kibbe is gwendoline Christie. "Her body may be dramatic, but her face is ingenue and ethereal...She doesn't look good in dramatic lines but looks good in ethereal lines...Kibbe is wrong, his system doesn't work!" well, of course dramatic lines don't look good on her, she's a soft dramatic! My thoughts: Rosé TR; Lisa SG; Jisoo and Jennie SN. I had to go with the overall first impression rather than your proper breakdown of their hands, feet, etc., because I have trouble Kibbe-typing very thin people (I just need more practice I guess!).
      -Jisoo's jaw, chin and shoulders seemed ever-so-slightly blunt and wide to me and she seems strong and sporty; paired with her curvier waist and thighs and open rounded facial features I went with SN.
      -I thought Rosé seemed TR in the same way Rihanna does; a bit on the tall side but has a delicate, sultry aura and "adult womanly" look especially with her eyes, fingers and joints. That old-Hollywood wavy auburn hair is amazing on her. I wish I could find some picturess of her in D looks now that you mention it though.
      -It's funny that the only one I thought was SG (Lisa) is the only one you didn't think is SG :) I see what you mean about her FN shoulders. I think her face looks doll-like with its round outline and wide-set round eyes. I think she looks so good in those gamine lines but maybe she's more of a FG than SG.
      -Jennie has those blunt shoulders and looks so amazing in a long, unconstructed vertical line. Though the FG lines and graphic funky looks are nice on her too, now that you point it out.

      Merriam, thank you for replying. As you said, we could be debating this all day long. Sorry if the tone seemed harsh, that wasn't my intention, I completely agree with most of your view points, especially when it comes to your color system analysis, I find it the most accurate in relation to whatever I've seen so far, however in this case I simply disagree. Taylor (and I am not a fan or anything) has a dramatic body. Yes, her face has some softness, we can say that for sure, but that doesn't change the magority of the lines. Oversized clothes, a man's suit for instance (and in the most unflattering color on Taylor) don't necessarily represent dramatics. I will try to link the fotos l m referring to. In the end its all about finding one's true style so l believe you are doing an amazing job

      @@katiag4831 Yes, dramatic lines are often misunderstood, this is a part of why I wanted to take a look at some examples you could give to make sure they aren't actually gamine lines after all. Lots of people seem to think the example of the yellow suit is unfair.....but sadly, it's exactly fair, you could watch the music video 'Me' and see this suit in action on her.
      It can be hard for people to see past Taylor's dramatic skeleton, even though she looks better in gamine, people just get hung up on the height.

    What I love about your videos is that you really take the time to explain why you feel the way you do about a subject and you show multiple examples, so the viewer can also see it! So many people who do colour and body analysis say, “I hope you see what I see...” then they might explain a little, but they don’t show multiple examples and explain their process. You do do this, and it’s extremely informative. I’m 6’ tall, but have come to the conclusion-through a lot of personal analysis and comparisons-that, just the same, I am a Dramatic Classic body type. In addition, I regularly hear that you cannot wear this or that colour, if you are a particular body/face type. But I don’t agree at all. It seems to me, that it is extremely limiting to say that a person who exhibits a lot of yang-or dramatic- elements to their frame or face, cannot also be soft, cool and muted. I don’t think that being labeled “dynamic” or “earthy” automatically means a person has to wear Autumn type colours. (See Dressing Your Truth). It may not work for the person to follow warm colouring. Dramatic, dynamic and so-called “earthy” aesthetics can also be displayed through dramatic and classic lines in cool and soft/muted colours - why not? Who says that they can’t? That’s my observation anyway. Please keep up the amazing work! Many thanks 💜

      Aw thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment! I agree about the colors not having to be limited by the body type, especially because it's all so relative. A cool red might look quite soft on a cool and radiant lady, but quite bright on a cool and delicate lady for example. So we sort of have to take that into account as well. So if we have a cool and delicate gamine for example,they might look great with cool red, but if we have a cool and radiant gamine, they might be better off going for fuchsia!

      The important thing is not really your height but if you look tall or short. So you can be petite and be a dramatic, if you look way taller. However, it is not because one thing about you is not the typical feature of a body type that you can't be this type (I don't know if I am clear). So you can be short and being a Soft Classic.

    But what good is this method if the only purpose becomes just to put someone in a category? Isn't the purpose instead to define which kind of clothing best enhances the figure?
    Taylor Swift might be two and a half meters tall, but the style recommended for the Gamine is the one which makes her look at her best, which makes her special! Ok, dressed like the dramtics she looks pretty good, because she has a beautiful figure that suits many lines, but all in all in Dramatic lines she is quite dull and without spice. Who cares how tall she is? (Incidentally, she seemed rather small to me: until I saw her beside Madonna and I was stunned because she is a giant! One thing that does quite at odds with its overall appearance, but which is also her peculiarity).
    In the end, tall or short, I think this video really makes the point: dressed as Gamine she is absolutely perfect, delightful and vibrant!

      Agree. She doesn't look as vibrant when she dress in dramatic lines as in gamine, she does really need the clothes that "fit her", not over sized as a dramatic.

    I thought I couldn't be gamine because I'm so tall. Now I'm all confused.

      There are no 5'10" gamines. It literally goes against the whole idea of gamine. One of the very first notable things about Soft Gamines is their short verical line.

      @@Wajiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Taking the test I think I'm a classic and I that explains why I feel the most comfortable in my classic clothes. But you don't think Taylor looks good in her gamine style clothes then? What type do you think she is then and why? As Merriam said vertical line is only one of the criterias.

      @@Nepparinen In my opinion, short gamine clothing on Taylor makes her look like a giant child. A lot of dramatics can rock colorblocks, high necks, and broken lines if done properly. Taylor has a youthful face with a dramatic body, this another reason why some dramatic clothing doesn't seem as good on her as it would on other more womanly dramatics. Not everyone is going to look good in everything from one type. Some people have mismatched faces, that's what's happening with Taylor, she is still very much yang dominant.
