    Real examples of Kibbe types is exactly what I needed to understand my type! It’s hard to compare yourself to celebrities who are almost always made up.

    The dramatic in the first face close up is such a perfect dramatic example! She is so stunning! I don't think I've ever seen such an angular nose. Striking really is the appropriate word for this type.

    Wow, I didn’t know the comment section was filled with models! Everyone was so beautiful!
    Hopefully I can send in my picture next time, this series will be very helpful. It was interesting to see how some yin/yang features cancel out, like the women with full lips or cheeks. There were a couple women who I would have thought were SN due to their softness.

    I've been trying to type myself for several months now, and nothing seemed to fit me just right. Well, after watching your videos extensively, I think I've realized I'm more of a soft classic. Classics for me are harder to type because it's difficult to decide what's balanced. Thank you for all the work you've put into these videos!

    This was such an informative video and it really helped me confirm that I'm a soft classic! I really love how you mentioned that classics can 'borrow' clothing elements from other body types in order to give different vibes to their outfits, as it's helping me understand how I can play with that in order to look more casual or more glamorous, depending on the situation.

  • @andreea34

    Thank you sooo much! This settles it for me...Dramatic Classic! I have bounced around between Romantic and Dramatic...didn’t feel right. The Dramatic Classic makes so much sense. However, I have super curly hair...nothing simple or clean line about it. I mostly wear it pulled back and maybe that is the answer to my hair fitting my face and body. I get lots of compliments when worn down and curly,; none when smooth. It seems odd that my natural hair may not work with the rest of me. Maybe the curly hair worn down balances the yang somewhat? Perhaps a video on curly hair for the types? There are lots of us out there of many ethnicities with curly hair of all body types. Any thoughts on curly hair with Dramatic Classic. welcomed! E

    Update...I found the Kibbe recommendation for DC hair...blunt cut. My curly hair down is blunt cut as I am growing it out. No wonder I get compliments when it is down...I stumbled into having the perfect cut for my body type...even though curly. It is more about the line and sharp edge of the blunt cut matching DC than the type of hair. I’m so glad to know this...I was considering getting it layered. Yikes! Now I have a plan.

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      YES!! Couldn't agree more. I just drew some pictures for a client trying to explain it's all about the outer shapes, the outer outlines of the hair, and not so much if it's curly or straight. It's also about the texture. Dramatic could have curly hair, except it would be an angular sharp outline, and stiff-textured curls. Romantic could have curly hair, rounded outline, soft textured curls.

    • @elia.0713
      @elia.0713 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      DC too here and a blunt cut is what my soul needs atm but unfortunately I am stuck with somewhat of a shag cut and I'm growing my hair out now, my bangs are framing my face so they're not on the forehead anymore but there are a lot of layers many of which are short (such as the bangs or a big layer just under my chin)... are there any solutions for making it work apart from growing it out? :(

    I think a lot of people could confuse some Classics with Gamine...

      Classics are confused with almost every other type I find. Because classics are in the middle, any tiny bit of 'sharpness' or 'softness' can be answered differently from C on the Kibbe quiz. For example, an answer C nose with a teeeeeeny tiny bit of sharpness (not nearly enough to be answer A, actually answer C), could be answered answer A......etc, so they can easily be confused with gamines. It's important to remember the *entire* continuum of how sharp vs soft lines can be.

      Can classics or dramatic/soft classics pull of some gamine clothes ? Someone told me I look like classic like Ginger Roger's and maybe grace kelly i agree with the nose and face shape of Grace Kelly I was told if I wore my hair like Ginger Roger's I could pass for her just on face shape now my body shape is what I get confused boy its really hard to identify someone like me .

      @@merriamstyle thats exactly my problem... since i am tiny i have to be some sort of gamine but for some reason i have a gutfeeling that classic is my type... i just dont know

      @@verica4b Just because your actual height is short doesn't mean your vertical line looks short too. I mean.. Lucy Liu's height is petite but she's typed (not by David Kibbe though) as a Dramatic. You might really be a classic. Who knows?

    This was so helpful! Would you do Flamboyant gamine recommendations for a rather Punk rock look?

    Very useful indeed!
    I would like to ask if there's such a thing as someone changing their body type as yhey grow older?
    When Isee pictured of my younger self (22-27) I can see Soft Classic but now at the age of 36, I have lostquite a lot of facial fat and that emphasises more my high cheekbones and polygonal face shape. I still have more rounded nose and lips and some flesh softness around my hips and belly but I cant tell if my shoulders' bones are sharper or sharper and under the softer flesh of my hips I think that I have a sharper hip bone that comes a little outwards. Also, my arms are overall quite slim looking even though they have some flesh on the upper part.
    So I am confused about wether I am a Dramatic Classic now or not. Do I remain a Soft Classic with some facial fat loss or do I changebody type? 🤔
    As for clothes & hair, I tried DC "strict" lines and they feel a little too sharp to be honest and since I had convinced my self that I am a DC I was surprised when I tried a dress with some clearly softer elements and found it VERY flattering. Same with hair. I feel that completely straight hair styles emphasise the bones of my face (which I don't particularly like) while some slight waves make me feel more harnonious.
    My problem though, is that I can't be 100% objective and accurate when I'm identifying my own body type and I don't trust fully my ideas of what flatters me and what not 😅
