What a lovely clear concise tutorial. This is what a beginner needs. The nice part is that you seemed so enthusistic to share and were not in the slightest bit condescending.
I'm a beginner to video editing. I just want to tell you sir...I feel like an expert after watching. I love your teaching style. Very professional, clear, cut and, concise. Thank you so much for making such a difficult subject so very easy. Great job! I subscribed, hit the bell, and liked! Keep it up!!
22:55 just a detail - with SHIFT one selects a *range* which means: click the first clip and then with SHIFT click the last one and all clips between the first one and the last one (these included) get selected. You actually show how to use CTRL + click to select a couple of clips one by one (they even don't have to be adjacent). Anyway, thank you for this great video, I learn so much from it!
When it comes to Shortcut tutorials, you are the Best. You don't skip steps like others do -- they're constantly rushing as if they just drank three expressos and they're 'pros' with little time. And thank you for those great zoom-ins to the Shortcut layout; it's quite a setup to get used to and your closeups show everything clearly. I've done some light editing and Shortcut software is a great new software for me..... BTW I'm working on a new project and you're my guide - thanks to you I'm learning quickly. You are the best kind of teacher. I've just subscribed and will be watching many of your videos.
Much appreciated. I like that it covers the many features so that I get a good overall understanding. Detailed learning will be necessary but having the big picture is a big help. thanks.
Thank you for that! Now the only thing you didn't cover which I still don't know how to do, is add a beginning Intro fade into video and same with the end, fade out. Can you please explain how to do that, I would be so appreciative .
Great concise tutorial. I have been using Shotcut for over a year and I learned a few new things such as detaching audio, SHIFT + I & O, and ripple trim & drop! Thank you.
Thanks for making this video. I clicked on 4-5 other Shotcut tutorials before finding your instructional video, and now your video is my "go-to" source for editing videos in the future. Very well explained and easy to understand. Good work.
Thank You so much. My previous free editor suddenly required payment to use it. Switched to Shotcut and your video was and is so helpfull. Timestamps are great I have you on my bookmark toolbar and have referred to your video many times. Thank you again for a valuable resource.
Good stuff but two things: 1. It is difficult to see what you're doing under the caption. AND 2. (for me), I need the Shotcut software on my screen to bring it forward to try some of the stuff that the vid is showing. It's a good idea to try things out as the lesson goes along. You'll remember it better. Thanks for the tutorial !!
I recently downloaded Shortcut. I have watched several tutorial videos and I must say this is the best I have seen. You really helped me out. Just wanted to say thanks. Nice one.
Incredibly encouraging; calms down the anxiety of video editing. I use videos for my language courses and oftentimes, I needed to clip youtube or mp4 videos into mini stand-alone clips to work on sentence structure. Might you consider creating a video to demonstrate clipping, keeping the audio of the clip and adding text for questions about the clip?
I've been using Shortcut for a long time. Its a good editor for creating vlogs to upload to TH-cam. This is a great tutorial video for new users. Happy Christmas Jamie
Thanks. I follow all your videos for many years. I had never seen any detailed, comprehensive and well explained that your videos all without exceptions.
Excellent tutorial. I am new to Shotcut but learning slowly after my previous video editor failed. The only thing I can't find that was in my previous editor was how to add an opening scrolling text and how to add credits at the end. Another major issue is that for some unknown reason one of my video shoots suddenly started playing brutally slow so I don't know if Shotcut can fix this. My previous editor also allowed a file conversion which greatly reduced the file size with no loss of quality. One of the test videos I tried to create was 150 MB, too large to use. Appreciate any help.
Excellent tutorial! More than anything else, it gives me the confidence that I will be able to use Shotcut easily. (Earlier I was intimidated by the interface.) Please make a video to explain how you created this webcam video where your on-screen actions are captured alongside your live feed (video+audio). Did you use OBS?
@@TeachersTech Hi Sir I am a Telegramer and I Am an mobile Editor But I try To Edit in pc So What Is The Ratio In Shot For Full screen video in mobile..
Thank you so very much for such a good tutorial, you are a great teacher sir! You really helped me out when I was a bit at loss as how to begin. Wishing you a lovely festive season, greetings from Ireland.
Ooo I'm so glad I found this video, very informative. I'm travelling to Budapest in 5 weeks and I'm planning on doing a vlog of my trip, well I'm going to attempt to. Shotcut was recommended to me and it looked a little daunting. This tutorial will be a huge help to me, so a big thanks for this.
Thank you very much for this excellent video! I am very impressed with Shotcut and amazed that it is free and has no watermarks. I have an issue with closed captions or annotations. I bought a PLR video and it has "burnt in" captions. I want to change the video but I have not found a way to get rid of these "burnt in" captions. WOuld you have a suggestion by any chance, please?
Thank a lot I was about to Uninstall The software not until I saw your video. and sir is it possible to add automatic text transcriber from audio to text?
Loved the video. Would you please tell me where to find a "transparent " background for any texts I might include because I didn't see it amongst the color options?
I'm just getting started into editing and making content for my bicycle rides, events & tours and this was just amazing help and really easy to follow along and learn, thanks for making this for us! Liked and subbed
Thanks for the clear explanation. One question. How can I edit the video by selecting part of the video enabling me to just use the selection of the video in order to avoid all the rest of the video shown ? !
Than you a lot for the tutorial - I was planning on starting my channel last year, but editing was all Klingon to me, and now at least it looks pretty easy :)
GREAT VIDEO- thank you. Can I ask a question? I've downloaded the free version and have added two audio tracks to the OUTPUT - V1 - a song that plays throughout & A1, a voice that appears in 2 sections under the song. Is there a way of also adding photos either to A1 or a separate Output source (so 3 in total) or are we limited to 2 Output sources...Thanks!
Thank you very much! I was looking for a good tutorial and this video helped me with everything. It explains everything needed to edit videos. Now i can get started doing videos for youtube! Well deserved subscribe and a like from me!
You indicated it loads up fast, would you consider it fairly "light" on computer resources? I use Davinci Resolve for a lot of more involved projects, but it can be a bit cumbersome. I edit my church's sermons each week so I frequently need to take a short video and trim it, maybe add a title screen, but not much else. So I'm looking for something that can be very quick to basically load up/ import/ trim/ and export. If I need to do much else I would happily use DR. - Oh, and I also want to be able to get a volunteer to learn to use it- i.e. free, simple, and easy to learn. Do you think Shotcut fits this need or are there any others you might recommend? Thanks.
Thanks for tutorial. Very well explain. I notice and you mentioned that it load very quick. I just bought brand new laptop with windows 11 and nothing much installed. But still it take longer time to load. Do I need to do some kind of settings to load faster? Thanks.
Amy
Hello again! I'm now at the stage where I have voice overs, music and my clip is quite long. This is really slowing down (and crashing) my computer. I am already using proxis, so that's covered. My question would be: - Does is make sense to export what is working as a single file, then re-upload it to keep working on it, and add to it? Many thanks.
DR is a great free editor, I usually place it at the top of my list for free editors. A little more of a learning curve and you got to make sure your computer as a good graphics card.
thanks! that shift+i is nice little feature. YET...how do i get the resizing handles? I import all my content from a phone and it comes in sideways and upside down. I can type 90degrees to flip, but theres noresizing handles and doing the manual resize for everything is ...well, is there not a preset?
Question ❓ can you remove a section out of the middle of a clip , and keep the beginning and end . And after removing slide the end of the clip to the beginning clip.?

The best and most concise explanatioin yet for beginners learning video editing tools such as Shotcut. Well explained and to the point. Thank you.
You, sir are an excellent instructor. I hope you see this. You're the reason I finally chose Shotcut after trying others. You deserve a "raise". 😉

Very good tutorial. Many tutorials go along too quickly and I get lost. Your teaching method is well done and easier to follow than most. Thank you!
Well done tutor and presentation. What was important for me was the speed of voice, it was normal and easy to listen to and concise. Excellent!
