- In this tutorial I wanted to replicate the Cinematic Title Reveal effect Jordy did on @PremiereBasics using Adobe Premiere, but this time on the free video editor, Shotcut.

Sir, i have watched tutorials from dozens of guys and lady's, (boring)and you are the only one with innovative and fresh ideas using Shotcut, now i am still undecided on my favorite editor, kdenlive, shotcut or deviance resolve, maybe someday. lol, Thank you sir
Thank you! Check out my tutorial library and see if there's anything you like: th-cam.com/play/PLpO3ttBDkV5uFHUIfsYL9IIk30TeQqCsj.html
Marvelous effect i can add it to my nature videos to make them look more attractive....👍👍
I'd love to see what you come up with and love for you to subscribe
Thank you so much for the well paced, explanation of each step, the reason behind it and removing the fear. I'm an old guy who has been converting home movies from both 8/Super 8mm and VHS tape to MP4. I've added music from that area on the silent 8mm stuff just to help trigger memories of the times. And now thanks to you, I can add some unique but simple title intros for special moments like births, weddings, celebrations and vacations. Family traditions can live on ... be revisited and shared easily. Thank you helping preserve special memories.
Glad I could help. I'd love for you to subscribe

My English are not really good, and I often have problems to understood when other people make tutorials like this, but not at you. I have no problems to unterstand and follow you in your videos.

Thank you so much for a great video tutorial. I've only posted a couple videos so far and I used openshot. It would lag and you can't do a voice over direct to it. Found Shotcut and I'll be watching and working along with all of your tutorials. Thank you!!

Great tutorials. Rare to find ones with the balance between speed and unrushed mouse placements in order to follow along on even basic movements or menus that may not even be the subject of the tutorial but which many of us find useful or are rusty on. So many blaze through their clicks out of habit and I'm rewinding the video 15 times just to see where the guy clicked that mouse. Your proxy video took me one rewind to find the menu while following along. This one has me looking ahead to playing around with blur and ripple
Easy subscribe

Hey Ben, another great tutorial. I've learnt a lot from your work over the past few years. One thing I now prefer to do with text appearing like this is to use "crop rectangle" instead of masks. It seems to make life and performance on my old Linux machine somewhat better. Otherwise it is probably just personal preference. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to your next fishing video!
Glad I could help.

Very cool effect man. You might not have wanted to do professional video editing but your skills make you qualified to do just that lol. Thanks Ben

It soo cool ...

I'm a Shotcut noob, but it seems that in version 24 adding text has become WAAY more difficult than this. It's no longer an option in the "Other" menu. Shame, cos this is a great video, really clear and brilliantly presented.
Could just be a bug

Just strip everything you don't need and save the file as your starter template

Excelent. Nice & Easy, well done (take into account that flip will work if you are centering the text vertically though)
sorry, flip will work with keyframe parameters if text is centered vertically, If not you must apply keyframes after copying and flipping text

Simply awesome... This is very helpful and very productive tutorial... In fact, I'm felling in love with Shotcut while watching your tutorials... Thanks a bunch mate...
Great to hear! I'd love for you to subscribe!
Wow..... just wow All your tutorials are very imaginative and creative. Thank you for sharing. A question : I don't understand why we turned the operations in mask filter from override to subtract, couldn't it be subtract from the beginning?
It could be subtract from the beginning, but then you won't be able to see the boundaries of the mask
@@BenEspanto I see thank you
Thank you for the great compliment!
@@BenEspanto You deserve it.
Worked really great. one suggestion i have is to make the duration a bit longer if you are planning on fading the title out at the end then don't put the initial keyframe right at the end but at say 3/4. this will allow the title fully rise up and still have time to fade out once fully emerged.
Ok
Fantastic, thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Thanks! looks great. Any tips on achieving the same effect but not exactly in the centre? having all sorts of issues with the keyframing and the text box position when not exactly centered
Just trial and error. Test things out
Hi Ben, wondering if you can answer a question regarding the flip filter. I have put in my title as you indicated, set the keyframe for it to move down. Then copied the clip below the original clip and added the flip filter. But the flipped text moves to the top of my frame (not directly under the original text). How do I get it so they are together (like a mirrored image) as yours shows?
It's hard for me to tell without seeing it
I am a beginner.
I would like to get a better understanding of how powerful or what the limits of this software are in order to determine
whether it is the right one for me.
So, could you drop the link of any professionally edited video in Shotcut, please?
Thank you so much. 😃😃😃

Can you save this and import it into other videos you've created? Use it over and over in shortcut?
Yes
Hi Ben just want to say a big thank you for all your tips 👍🏼 Although this video in particular doesn't quite match my content, I can still take this info on board and implement it into my videos in other ways. Just wondering though if you have had any experience playing with any of the audio filters? I certainly haven't and thought if you knew any cool audio tips would be some extra content for you to make for us 😊 just a thought. Take care mate, best of luck with your channel! Styna
Thank you for your support. I have played with Shotcut's audio, but I end up using Audacity for its more robust functionalities for audio
Nice video tutorial, but I have a problem withe my video clip after dragging it tp the timeline, I put over a image so I could use green screen and when I play back the video it plays slowly, I don't know what I am doing wrong. I tried several times removing the video clip from the timeline and from the playlist, then bring it back and sometimes it plays fine on the player panel. Any ideas? Thanks.
It's just your preview. Your computer is struggling to play it. Set it to proxy mode: th-cam.com/video/PzHutxve2T0/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ben, is there a way to add "dirty lens" or "lens grime" effect in shotcut? If so, could you make a tutorial, please?
No filter needed. I would just look for a transparency or green screen file that has the grime look you need and add as a layer on top of your clip. You can also check some of the "Old Film" filters to see if that works for you
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing this tutorial, Ben. Thanks to your instructions, I have been able to completely re-do my intro and outro for my channel videos with Shotcut.

Hi. Love the videos! Once I have my title reveal clips setup (as above) then is there any way of saving these 2 tracks (V1 and V2 above) so that I can use it for future videos? I don't really want to have to go through his process every time that I make a new video. Cheers - Dave
Yes. Just save the file. It should be saved aa an MLT file and you can swap out images and videos on the track
