Just wanted to say that it's always a pleasure stumbling on these videos. Helps keep me motivated to see other people working on their games. Glad you're still going strong on this. All the best!
Incredible work dude! … I don’t know if you still have any interest in making RPG Maker stuff, but it would be awesome to see a guide on a limb dismemberment system like ‘Fear & Hunger’ has, nobody on TH-cam has done it 😵💫
It's hard to do something time based like that because it's so easy to hack. You could pretty easily set a variable for hunger and make your hunger go up every step. Make the hunger go down when you eat. Just run it off a parallel and maybe do something more optimized later.
i wish i could see a little more detail in how you did this. more specifically how you integrated existing rpg maker menu stuff in. any recos for tutorials or other videos where you share a little more behind the scenes? looks great!
Did you go to the video I recommend? That's a great place to get started. th-cam.com/video/gQWloS-iGzY/w-d-xo.html I'd consider making a tutorial but it's insanely complicated.
Your able to do all this because your a game UI Developer Professional. But how would any of us with a half assed idea of a game never made make it look good and interesting!?
@@mauigamestudio Ah, for some reason I thought you were using a plugin or something (I was watching several youtube videos on different tabs at once and lost track of which was doing which). So, did you do all this (even the Mastery points window) just with picture-based menu images? Wow. I've had such a hard time getting the picture-based menu to work. When I tried it, it the options kept blinking, took forever to move from option to option, and I had to pressed the same button repeatedly for like 7-10 seconds before it would select an option, so clearly I did something wrong when eventing it. I just can't figure out what. 🤣 Yours looks great, though! I think it turned out really well.
As said in the video... it's pretty complicated... but I certainly gave you some useful references if you want to try and create something similar to what I did. Maybe consider joining our discord.

I really appreciate it. I enjoy following your project as well.

Also, I do say to join our discord multiple times in the video? Have you joined?
thank you so much for this. If you have any suggestion for reworking the save scene let me know! Trying to learn to do that now xD

The premise of the video is that you will not be able to do a custom UI easily...
Wow, how did you get your character to have gridless movement? It's so cool!
It was a lot of work. I can't really share the plugin because I'm not allowed to publicly distribute.
Nice work!!

Hi Jack.
Almost looks like how we go about it in RM2kX
MV was my first rpg maker version. I hear good things about the old days.
@@mauigamestudio Fair enough, it is quite outdated, but I think it’s the perfect engine for 16-bit style games. Which is my Achilles’ heel.
@@mitchellwilliam95 Well then it's a nice complement if you are saying I've captured some of that magic.
@@mauigamestudio Oh yeah, doing picture-based eventing like this is quite a strenuous task. Yours looks super clean!
Usually I would make a tutorial for something like this but my menu is too complex. The video I linked is much better for getting people started.
Awesome Interface! Teach us how to use PIXI!!!
Ya for sure. I have to learn how to use pixi first... it's confusing... but I'll get there.
Is this code / menu stye available for purchase or download anywhere?
Not really... It's built into the system.

I'm a bit scared that making a parallel common event for the menu would make the game lag or too heavy. Do you have this kind of problem ?
It's a valid concern... Parallels that are checking for inputs are not too bad.
Map events in parallel are much worse.
how do u show variables?
This question is too broad, maybe hit me up in discord with more details.
THIS IS COOL WANNA KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT

😆
This is the worst guide to creating a menu I have ever seen.
Ya it's not a guide though...
@@mauigamestudio Yeah, that's some kind of crap.
