Hey, i´ve been watching a few videos of ours(and a lot of others) because i could not get my compressor even starting(3-phase motor). Found out why, and i thought i should share my tip; check your fuses/breakers, one of mine phases wasn't even electrified. A fuse had been tripped but it looked fine.(i have a stupid fuse-box in my garage with no diagram to what is fused, so i had to do an educated guess)
You might say i´m an idiot, but i recommend starting fault searching at the source of power.
I know your video wasn't about finding fault, but it was really helpful.
    Thank you.

My 10 horsepower single phase motor pulls 45 amps. I had to wire it through a magnetic starter just like yours.

Hey man, thats a nice compressor. Now you just need someone to sponsor you channel with a bunch of air tools.

Howdy... Thanks for the great info video... Best explanation for exactly what I was wondering about...
I just received a Great older Atlas Copco - 3 phase compressor. I had used the unit and there was an issue that when you start the mag starter the unit fired up and pressured up like normal. If you let the system pressure up to the shut-off pressure, the unit stops (like normal) but will not start again when the low start pressure is reached. That said, I noticed that the on off switch on the pressure switch did not turn the unit off or on when the unit was running. If I started the system with the mag starter and stopped the unit (with the mag starter) before the cut off pressure is reached, the unit could be restarted again every time but you would have to use the mag start sequence.... If I understand the principal here, the pressure switch is possible my issue? Appreciate any thoughts, feedback ????

I did the dumbest thing. Purchased an old 80 compressor from a guy who was disabled and was selling everything in his shop.I realized after having it towed to my house that the motor says “three phase” I called the previous owner and he said that specific motor he was told it can be turned into a single phase and mentioned something about a bunch of extra wires that he labeled as relay and they were all wired together. I wish I wouldn’t have to sell this compressor being that it’s heavy duty and not like the homedepot ones. Anyone have any input??

A 3 phase motor cannot be converted to single phase, A motor is designed one way or the other, and needs the proper power source. You would need to use a VFD (variable frequency drive) or a rotary phase convertor to do this job, and a knowledgeable Electrician (industrial vs construction Electrician)

dronai thanks. I went and bought a single phase 5HP motor and replaced that three phase junk. Now I don’t know what to do with this perfectly good three phase motor laying in my garage

@@millermatic140 Probably a toss up on the cost difference between what I suggested, and what you did. Try to sell the 3 phase motor on Craig's list or Ebay
