    Excellent video. Probably the best explanation of a magnetic starter with pressure switch. Great job!

    Thank you for your video. You were the only one I watched that made it clear by the diagram and the actual connections. Very much appreciated.

    Thanks for that. Sometimes I think manufacturers are in league with electricians to make simple stuff "appear" complicated. I have a new compressor coming with a single phase switch so this is helpful.

    Good video, Thanks. Still can use that old pressure SW as a backup. One side side of contacts still good for the signal.

    Great video very helpfull. Your power wire coming into the starter is that hardwired to the breaker or do you have a plug at the end of it and you just plug in the wall???? 👍👍👍👍👍

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was hardwired but you can do it either way using a 30 amp plug/receptacle.

    Excellent explanation, was easy to follow along. I have a 5 hp speed air I just picked up. Was told I needed a starter to make it work. Its old and so is the switch but worked in his shop. Did not get the starter with it. I think I need the same type of setup you have. Do you have part numbers for the starter and the switch? If I could duplicate what you have it would save me from getting the wrong parts. Thank You.

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will work without a starter for a while but will eventually burn your pressure switch up. The pressure switch I used was the Square D 9013 FHG12M1X (chosen for the working psi I was going to need) and a matching pressure relief valve. The start switch is a WEG PESWS-25V24EX-RM34.

    is there any reason why you couldn't do this with a 3.5hp compressor that's 15A?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could - but it probably isn't necessary. Not nearly the strain placed on a built in 15 amp switch as is a 30 amp.

    What about the second coil terminal (a2) a wire has to be on it for the coil to pull in. You show no wire on a2.

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe that A2 is controlled via terminal 96 - the overload switch - via the 2 wire jumper control wires.

    So does your pressure switch on/off switch turn it on and off?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pressure switch controls the magnetic start switch that turns the motor of the compressor on/off.

  • @ShortyzProductionz

    So what about if my starter has a push button start and stop. I’m trying to add my pressure switch into it but when it’s wired where I’m told, it will turn on the compressor but not off and the buttons will not work with the pressure switch wired

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would wire it so the pressure switch controls the on/off function. Your pressure switch has a manual on/off control along with the pressure controlling this function. Placement if the wires will vary depending on the type of pressure switch you have, but you want to make sure they are functioning the same. Without a magnetic starter the pressure switch passes both legs of 110 voltage to the motor. Using the magnetic starter, the pressure switch only needs to allow continuity to operate the switch function of the magnetic starter. That being said, make sure on your pressure switch that one wire is connected to "motor" ( that would in turn connect to 1L1) and the other connected to "line" (that would in turn connect to A1). This creates the switch function in your magnetic starter. Each one is a little different and can be confusing. Look for instructions to help you along.

    Did you have to remove any jumpers ? I have the same mag switch and it is telling me to remove jumper “C” and “D” for seperate control.

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I explain this at the very beginning of the video. Remember it says to remove the jumper "if" supplied. Mine did not have the jumper. The reason you would remove the jumper "if" supplied is so your pressure switch can control on/off of the pump.

      @@TigerCreekFarm thank you!... I'm just not sure if the wires that are currently on my switch are jumpers or not! I have the updated WEG version of what you have. A1 is not under 1L1, it is on the front of the switch. Mine came with 3 red wires/jumpers: 13NO to 1L1, 3L2 to 96NC, A2 to 95NC.

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By what you are saying I would remove jumper 13NO/1L1 (D) and 3L2/96NC (C) then connect your pressure switch to L1/A1. If in doubt get verification.

    At 9 mins you say 110v in, did you mean 220v in?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Shue's World no. That white wire is one 110 volt leg of 220 volts. Make sense?

    Liked the video but am having some issues. I have a new WEG starter with an on and off switch. It works fine, but I seem to be unable to get the pressure switch to control the starter. I tried bypassing the onboard on off switch, and can get the pressure switch to start the compressor, but not switch it off. Grrr. Any wiring suggestions?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kuladeeluxe do you have the correct pressure switch? All the pressure switch does is close contacts at a particular pressure that will in turn allow voltage to pass through the switch. It then opens the contacts once the set pressure is reached - closing off the voltage pass through. If yours will not shut down from the switch I suspect it is the wrong pressure switch or pressure setting.

    • @BoxcarsGarage

      Kuladeeluxe -- I'm having the same problem. I'm using a different Mag switch than you but mine too has the on/off switches....I believe that's the issue for me... I originally used a traditional wiring plan but the two are not working together correctly. I believe the on/off switch is considered a momentary switch and requires a different wiring plan... I'm searching. And... I have a correctly sized pressure switch, 5hp, and a Mag switch that also rated to my application.
