It seems like a capable bike but price and reliability are the key points for me. I own a 411 Himalayan and I don't think it's a coincidence you see a lot for sale at about the 5k miles mark. I have had lots of little teething issues with my bike whereby it sort of feels like you have to finish building the bike for Enfield as components come loose or fail over the first few thousand miles. Steering head bearings for example shouldn't be going at 4k miles - they were clearly not greased properly in the factory and then also over-torqued, this is a pretty common issue for the Himalayan, another is the swing arm pivot seizing up but thankfully I nipped that in the bud on my bike.
Sounds like the common Chinese bike issues of poor assembly and lack of proper lubrication. You can buy a Chinese bike cheap and if you like to tinker and do not mind taking much of the bike apart to lube and adjust torque then they are fine. But if you want to buy and ride with a much better chance on having no issues then you need to look elsewhere in most cases.

@@bencluroe4183 RE does not gets its major chunk of sales from outside. They produce the most at home, and I think its going to do well here, as the ownership reviews have been great so far with no major issues, the complaints have been about the height and weight on the front end, side stand being not as straight etc but these are mostly rider specific.
@@jimmartin8586 yea that's the deal, I think they have released the prices, and there is waiting in India too fr now. Although, the adv market here isnt that big. That is why we are expecting a 450 scrambler early next year with same config. Which will be more of a road bike which could do a bit of off road. I think RE is testing the waters with the pricing. They will certainly sell if they have upgraded the riding experience.
The old ones will be flogged off cheaper ,to make room for these new versions . My advice ,is to grab one of the old stock , & give this new 452 engine version a few years to prove itself for reliability ,before laying any bunce out for the new model . I don’t see the point of unnecessary nerdy tech like fly by wire crap on an adventure bike ,that’s going to be ridden ,miles from civilisation . The less tech the less to go wrong & cause potential issues ,in the arse - end of nowhere & leave the rider stranded ,or waiting ages for parts to be sent to nearest civilisation . All that was needed was a few more ccs & hp for , the odd section of motorway riding at 70 odd mph if required .
Seeing how they want to make spin-offs from this engine, I'll wait for one that has an analogue dash and ditch the riding modes/navigation. They look cool to have but no one was asking for them with the Himalayan 411.
Great news for all those who've been holding-out for the new 'upgrade' - but I'll be keeping my old bike. This new model has none of the rugged simplicity, character and charm of the original Himalayan.
Well I ride RE because of the simplicity and ease of maintenance and parts accessibility .I have been waiting and am now disappointed . I refuse to accept that a 40 h.p. bike needs rider modes. And ride by wire is so far removed from ADV requirements to be reliable that I will not even try the bike out.Instead I will put a carb and the 462 overbore kit on my 2019 thank you.I will be at 35 h.p. at a lower rpm and have more torque. 6 gears would be nice I admit but if 1st is not lower and 6th higher it is not a huge gain.I have the Hitchcocks cam freeflow air filter and exhaust that put's me at 30 h.p. and right at 30 ft.lbs. Switching to the carb now would only get me better simplicity control of tune and yes reliability.I already have EFI fueling issues which i would not have with a carb. But add the Overbore kit and then I can really tune to make use of the displacement. I have six bikes .The Yamaha with a carb comes in second with fuel delivery reliability .First goes to my 1995 Enfield Bullet 500 with a simple round slide mikcarb. And points ignition. It starts by kickstart in the snow and freezing cold .When the EFI bikes will not and I have to wear out the starter on the Yamaha.
Triumph Scrambler £5600, Himalayan 450 £6000? ... tough one on pricing... I think you get more bike with the himalayan, but triumph generally has a higher quality finish. Will be interesting to see what the CF MOTO 450 twin comes in at too... apparently lighter but has more stuff as standard... to 400-500 adventure bike segment is proving to be an interesting one!
Where I live they say it will be out in a year which is ridiculous. I’ll have to go for something else. That new Triumph 400 scrambler might be it but I’d prefer the RE. They need to get it out quicker. Also, if they remove the 411 version ( which they will, apparently) then the new one will replace it ( obviously) and I think this will affect people’s perception of the value represented in the new price. It can’t be hugely more.
I wonder what the scope is for weight reduction. Doe it come with a a LiFePO4 battery? if not there's a 2.5kg weight saving. Removal of of the crash bars, which is weight hight up, would likely be another 2-3kg saved. Centre stand (some people prefer just a trail stand), would save another 2kg, though that is weight download so not as noticeable difference.
@@splodge5714uhm, that's what you do on a Scrambler... I have one and it's way too good looking to go off road and get all dirty and way to uncomfortable to go far... so onto the next cafe it is!
I'm sure the new Himalayan is much better, but the previous one was such a beautiful looking bike with this classic tank and unique design. Unfortunately, the new one is an eyesore! The tank is awful. Just wondering if you can fit the old tank in the new bike, it would help little bit.
What i hate about this bike, and other inexpensive bikes. It's not specifically this bike and it's nothing royal enfield or other brands can fix. Is buying second hand ones. I see 2022 Himalayans with 20k miles selling for £500 less than a brand new bike. This is the biker "mines is more special" mentality which ruins the used market. It's the same with the cb500x. 2 year old bikes with 20k miles selling for £500 to £1000 less than a brand new bike. This is a good thing because, the bikes hold their value. I'm torn between buying a second hand cb500x or a brand new himalayan. Because the prices are so close to a brand new bike, I don't really know what to do... £500 is a lot of money when you are spending £5k.
Still no price - I think Royal Enfield as Nathan the Postie has reported have shot themselves totally in the foot. Itchy Boots, Press launch , EIMCA and they still have not decided how much. I guess unless you are a RE fan then by the time they have decided how much and if its taken this long to decide a price god knows how long it will take to deliver it, people will have laready bought and done the running on on the tidal wave of Chinese options the cosumer will get this year.
They have known for a while they're just being strategic with marketing. It will be announced at the Goa event RE have later this month, they're deliberately getting people to keep paying attention to the next event to sew their enticement into sales. Given the riding features and dash, I'm anxious it will be around the Interceptor price mark.

Excellent review.. But I have a question for you. Nobody in reviews mentioned the engine's behavior below 3000rpm. Bikes which are made for off road should have the capability to ride in 3rd gear at 3000rpm. I see most of them in second gear even at 30kmph. Near to 20kmph always on first gear. I feel it's bothersome to ride with such a gear ratio especially in such difficult road conditions. This is my point of view. Correct me if I am wrong.

@@PhilipBallGarry yep it is below that where it’s important. Reports are it’s pretty soft below 3. Figures you don’t get so much more top end without compromise.
Watched other reviews on this bike and a lot of it is the same standard factory ? footage. But this review is better as it includes more on bike and scenery footage and it’s the only one which mentions the levers. Cheers.
Thanks, yes it's standard procedure for manufacturers to provide stock footage that will have been shot using a test rider ahead of the media arriving, then footage of each journalist from the same spots, it's then up to the individual or their outlet to edit it in their house style.
Hope that helps but let us know if there's any more questions.
It would look cool with dual front discs.
I think now they should consider a liquid cooled 650 engine next 😅 a guy can wish.
If that was Japanese it would be a big hit,but it's a RE & I think RE's biggest obstacle will be proving the reliability of the bike. There's a lot of tech on there that's new to RE & I'd be wary of it until it's been out for a while.
Exactly what I was thinking mate. Only way it’ll do well is if the price is closer to 5k. 6k plus is a big ask in my eyes
Worth watching presentations by the teams behind the engine and general design philosophy. I think RE is trying to bump up their entire brand with this bike. They have put a lot of work in to this one
@@slakk5093 I agree but if no one buys it because it’s too expensive??
Royal Enfield's R&D center is in the UK. Definitely agree. Japanese bikes usually don't have insane power figures but by god they will run forever.
I've tried to find a price and the only one I can find is an estimated £7100! Over 7k for this? If it is, I doubt I'll see many!
agree - at this price you can find a used KTM 790 Adventure R or Tenere 700 with few K km.
£5,750 OTR (Kaza Brown) price in UK seems competitive and reasonable .
Just watch Itchy Boots on her latest Indian adventure, tells you all you need to know.
I'm loving the look of this bike, making my juices flow
Soooo beautiful bike!!!! Do you think it is beginner friendly? Any bad vibrations or heat from the engine? Thanx
No vibration test ride done, no heating, best bike in the market for the next 3 years for sure, I pre booked mine.
Have you got a price yet 🤔 please
Not yet, we’ll let you know as soon as it’s announced.

Do you know the Kawasaki klr650?
Which is better? I can get a 2023 new klr for $5000 + tax. Lic.
Or wait for The 452.
Seeing how they want to make spin-offs from this engine, I'll wait for one that has an analogue dash and ditch the riding modes/navigation. They look cool to have but no one was asking for them with the Himalayan 411.
So £6,495 then? Is so it makes the Triumph 400 look a positive bargain!
price???
Great news for all those who've been holding-out for the new 'upgrade' - but I'll be keeping my old bike. This new model has none of the rugged simplicity, character and charm of the original Himalayan.
Not a fan of the color but love the bike….can always vinyl wrap it
Why does every tester have to say intuitive like it makes them special
Wow, wake up to a gentle bike review, your joking! those roads, drops, views etc, a very bad dream!
😂
Any body heard of delivery to uk being delayed due to the problems in shipping through suez
Did you say the price is in the description?
Costs nothing then!
I’m in Spain and just before covid I was considering a Himalayan . They were new for €4300 on the road!
CF Moto 450 MT 7600 eur in France
Where I live they say it will be out in a year which is ridiculous. I’ll have to go for something else. That new Triumph 400 scrambler might be it but I’d prefer the RE. They need to get it out quicker. Also, if they remove the 411 version ( which they will, apparently) then the new one will replace it ( obviously) and I think this will affect people’s perception of the value represented in the new price. It can’t be hugely more.
@@crazyosva good to know... Probably £7k then.. tempting offering but fully spec-ed out
I wonder what the scope is for weight reduction.
Wish they'd give out prices on launch day - not exactly rocket science to do.............
looks like an instant hit
“HOLY SH*TE”…….😂😂 Nearly choked on my tea !!
Bro can you comfortably flat foot your legs while riding this bike (I'm about the same height)
Personally I dont like ADV bikes as they are compromise machines.
But I still think these value for money bikes will sell like hot cakes .
I was scared just watching ( vertigo ) Bike looks very good .
Those roads look better than the potholed UK roads. £6000 makes it more expensive than the Triumph Scrambler 400!😂
Scambler vs adventurer. .duh ! Obviously going to be more expensive
So it's now obvious that an RE is more expensive than a Triumph🤣 And the biggest adventure most have on the Himalayan is getting to the cafe.
@@splodge5714uhm, that's what you do on a Scrambler... I have one and it's way too good looking to go off road and get all dirty and way to uncomfortable to go far... so onto the next cafe it is!
The biggest factor with this bike is price. It will make it or break it...
Mr childs youjamstranglingluckybarsteward ....😂 what a trip....ohhhh bike looks good too....👍👍👍👍
I'm sure the new Himalayan is much better, but the previous one was such a beautiful looking bike with this classic tank and unique design. Unfortunately, the new one is an eyesore! The tank is awful. Just wondering if you can fit the old tank in the new bike, it would help little bit.
Bennets follows in Itchy Boots footsteps 🤣😂 does seem liek a good bike and a good upgrade.
Major issues with Power drop off over 3000 RPM in second gear just dies .......
Bikes are designed to test leh Ladakh roads and weather conditions
Deep wawaa😇
Well this is a complete rewrite then…not a bad thing, but no relation
@@richardw1043 I intend to buy something else, keep life simple.

I have a 2021 Himalayan. Total junk. Battery can't hold a charge (phantom draw)...bad electrical problem no one can solve. Horrible fit and finish. Dealership had it for months. It's been so disappointing that I'm selling it with only 700-miles on it. Don't fool yourself into believing you can get a quality ride for one third what all other equivalent bikes cost.
Watch Itchy Boots (Noraly) plod around India. She hasn't experienced any issues at low speed on and off road
Definitely not lighter pleez
