This is so weird. I live in Oil City and just searched Wham-O on TH-cam. I honestly had no idea that Titusville was part of that history. Great job. Keep warm, bud
Thank you Appreciate that👍
I remember all of those catalogs, plus Speigel. Nice work, and thanks for sharing!
Thank you LumberjackPa 👍
I must be losing it. Thought I commented earlier, but since it is not here, I guess I failed to push the COMMENT button. Anyway, my dad was a friend of Noel Poux's, and I remember in the late 1950's when I was about 10, dad bringing home Hula Hoops fresh from the SkyLine Plastic Pipe Company. Dad provided most of the building materials to Skyline for years as Skyline expanded. Another one to check out...Warren W 'Shorty' Tarr...another friend of Dad's and a real success story. Mr. Tarr started out very poor in Titusville. Worked hard and built Trans Penn Oil Company. Mr. Tarr was one of, or the first, to put wax on cardboard milk cartons. I used to love to peel it off with my thumbnail while eating breakfast cereal lol. Dad was born in 1909, the family coming to Titusville in the early 1860's. I think dad knew everyone who ever lived and worked in Titusville. I think your digging up the Skyline Pipe / Hula Hoop story was brilliant Well done! Even in the late 50's when Skyline was making Hula Hoops, I doubt even 1% of the town knew it at the time. I only knew it because dad would often talk about Noel Poux and his brilliant innovations when plastic pipe was just coming of age.
That is Awesome 👍 Again love your stories about your Dad😀 I’ve not looked into Trans Penn wax , but that’s a cool idea to do. Thanks for the idea. Love these stories nobody talks about for “ The Valley That Changed The World “ Next Monday I’ve got another good one👍😁 that a lot of people don’t know 😉
Ok, I had NO idea at all about the Hula Hoop factory. The snow is gettin' a little old for sure.
I agree I'm ready for summer
I was one of the Millwrights that installed all the equipment at Weyerhaeuser and was there when the silo was built. Spent 9 years working in that building. My family goes way back to 1790 in Spartanburg and Pleasantville.
Interesting 👍 That's cool Thank you for sharing your story. I always like to hear stories of videos I do from people that it connected to and brings up memories from my viewers 👍
Do you remember when the concrete silo caught on fire? I remember kids playing in the yard at that house across from the mill.@@oldskooljoesdailyjoe3734
