I was driving through Kansas at sun-up. It was then I understood how Dorothy had so much time to pedal home, check in the house, try the barn cellar door and get back in the house. I live about ten miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Looking east doesn’t have the feeling of distance tangible at sunrise in Kansas.

Have you checked out what was a road when I was a boy? It’s just across the bridge on 408 out of Hydetown? It’s on the right. My uncle and dad kept cattle in a field down that road. We had to rescue the cattle because of a flood.
