When you watch the intro to TOS and the music is playing, Netflix subtitles translate the singing "aaaaaa, aaa a-a-a-aaaaaaaaaaaaa" parts by saying "Woman vocalizes". I just needed to tell someone.
I just realized the Discovery Enterprise makes the TMP refit possible. The dimensions make sense out of the continuity error, because the secondary and primary hulls have mainly the same dimensions of the refit, the neck of the refit is the same general dimensions but longer on both ends, and the nacelle pylons connect at the same points. In order for the TOS design to become the TMP design almost every single part of the ship would have to be completely replaced inside and out. For the DIS design to become the TMP design, the nacelles and pylons, bridge module, hull plating and livery, deflector dish, sensor module and impulse engines replaced (without effecting the surrounding hull very much). The neck modified on both ends to include room for the improved photon tubes, and the shuttlebay replaced, removing the lip in the process, and other than any interior modifications, that's pretty much it... A lot more sensical than tearing the ship so far apart as to lose it's entire profile.

This design is the new TOS 1 design and minus the back of the nacelles, carries into the TOS 2 design. This is confirmed in the minisode with the space tardigrade. Since it has a montage that takes place all the way from Space Seed to the destruction of the Refit Enterprise, and throughout all the TOS segment it had the design cues of the Discovery Enterprise

This is a good transition from NX to the Constitution class(except for the bridge window). If only the rest of DISCO would have gone with this look, there wouldn't have been as near as many complaints.
From what I've seen, every Federation ship on Discovery looks pretty good except for Discovery itself, which looks hideous. I don't watch the show, though, so there could be some other bad-looking ships.

I really like this Enterprise. My favorite is the Refit, but this one incorporated many elements from different ships of Star Trek and all of them look natural and in place. I always imagined the original Enterprise with a lower profile, i even draw few of them, but this is more than I expected. Junkball, thank you for stuff, get better and all hopes of resolving family issues.
I actually do like the 18 quite a bit, but... those pylons. Ugh! Also nice to see Eaglemoss continuing their fine tradition of giant seams and misaligned paint applications.

I ordered my 1701-18 just recently. Waiting to see if I warm up to it like I did with the JJ-Prise OG and Refit, even though I have nitpick issues with those designs. I'm not a fan of STD Story-wise but I do like a good ship design. Get well soon.

I just finished st discovery season 2, I love the new enterprise! There was some pretty sweet battle scenes that showed just how tough the enterprise was, I know the show gets alot of hate but I enjoyed it and I hope that they do a pike spin off series ;-)

I haven't watched a single episode of discovery, and to be honest I don't really care for this whole "mulit-time line" effort that's simple the result of a rights dispute between two companies.... but I do have to admit that I kind of like the look of the '18 That said, I'd much rather see rights holders explore a show set sometime between the post Kirk, and pre Picard era's. That's nearly a century's worth of practically unexplored trek lore to work with.

What you are calling the Bridge on the '16 is actually the B and C decks on every other Enterprise. There should be another smaller dome on top of that with a clear window in the top as well.
Personlly i think the 2018 enterprise looks really good, which makes it actually the only Enterprise i like since the Enterprise -D. Considering that of all things, the art team from DIS made it, makes me guess that it can only be a lucky accident by them and in no way shape or form be their intention. 😁
It makes perfect sense for it to be their intention, everything about the established ship designs in DSC says coarse angular and klunky. Exactly what you would expect to predate the famous constitution class that’s noted for being something special even during TOS. And given Roddenberrys explanation for the “simple” design of the TOS ship, ie it’s so advanced it looks clean and simple. Something like the Walker class seems suitable as an older ship of the line. Certainly would explain all the compliments visiting officers gave the Enterprise if they paid their dues on something like that!
I REALLY hate the fact that every new version of the Enterprise has aztecing on it. Original looks fine and sleek. Adding pointless lines just muddies up to design a lot.
If the pylons were like on the 66 design it would be more convincing that that's the original Enterprise. This way it enforces the theory that Discovery is not the prime timeline,but another alternate timeline

This enterprise is my personal favorite as is fits it tos Era and I love the original nacelles. I like how it's slightly shrinking in height
As it stands, this is by far my favorite Design of any of the new shows. A huge step up from the '09-Version.
I gotta say I really do like the 18. It's way better than the JJprise. I wouldn't mind a full model kit from AMT. She would look right at home with my TOS and TMP models.
