Great video. I fixed mine today (LR Disco II 2003). I bought the Rover in 2004 and still have it because of videos like this. I actually replaced the plate and gasket about 7 years ago and it just failed again. But I did the job with the throttle body still attached to the inlet. Your approach ensured I did it right this time. Having the throttle body OFF allows you to really snug up those 3 bolts. One thing also, the hose clamps you suggested. I only have one hose clamp, so I unscrewed the radiator fill cap and relieved pressure in the reservoir/whole system. This prevented water coming out. Also I too the time to literally polish the inside of the throttle body and butterfly valve. It was covered in gunk. Thank you very much. I wish there were more videos out there that were this clear and straight forward.
Great video. And yes, as Chris mentioned, it's a good idea to replace those amazingly brittle plastic coolant lines with high temp hose. I did, and re-routed a couple in a more practical manner. It looked good and clean without any added clutter.
What perfect explanation of how to do a semi tech fix!!!! I had trouble online ordering the parts. Calle Atlantic British best customer service ever. Gave me free shipping for my trouble ordering online. Prob saved me 1500$ by not bringing a Land Rover to a mechanic!!!!👍🙏👍
I know quite a few owners in SE Texas and the rest of the gulf states who just bypass the THP, it never gets cold enough here to really need it. That being said, I decided to replace mine and also replaced those brittle plastic coolant lines with small diameter high temp rubber hoses. Just be careful putting the one on the nipple on the radiator as if you push it too hard it might snap and then you are looking at a new radiator.
Yeah that's how I did this the first go round. But it's better to take the throttle body off IMO because you can really torque those three little nuts. Cheers
Thank you for video. My car 1999 p38 4.6 150000km. Start run drive smoothly but if I stop for 10 minutes or more with running engine when I move again it's jurking and misfire not accept acceleration for a while pumping accelerator pedal after running good again. Any help guys.
It seems I've been ripped of by the previous owner. In my Disco 2 the throttle body heater plate just got bypassed. I can clearly see the two nibbles and some coolant marks around. anyway I'm actually about to refit the broken nibble on the radiator overflow, thats why and how i came across the unused nibbles. what can happened if you run the the disco without water flow on the throttle body? I assume its the hose what runs out of the reservoir goes thru the throttle body and than in the engine block. - in my case straight to the engine block thanks and sorry for some english mistakes
daDaVoRee it doesn't cool the throttle body, it actually heats it, if you run without it, you get more horsepower because air runs cooler, you can do without it if you live in warm climate.

Thank you so much for the video. Was able to do the repair myself and couldn’t of done it without this tutorial!
Did the job yesterday; thanks the very clear and helpful instructions!

Thanks; will be ordering the kit tomorrow.

Forgot to mention, you can replace the heater plate and gasket without removing the throttle body, it's tight but you can do it.
.-What hoses did you get and where did you buy it from...

Thanks for the video, I ordered the parts and fixed the leak on my '03 Disco. Pretty easy.
Replacement went exactly as shown. Thanks!
this video saved me a 100 dollars thanks
Is it true that Dexcool coolants destroys gasket and seals on land Rovers?
Hello do you have a video showing blower motor replacement or more direct the resistor on the blower motor
Excellent video Thank you very much.
solved an overheating issue with my son's D2 V8!! Easy as falling off a log!!! Now to sort the LPG system.... Petrol isn't cheap here in UK!!
Hereisa tip . Use stag sealer as well as the provided gasket !.
I didn't think you were doing valve cover gaskets.
Thanks. Another problem solved. Of course the TBHP decided to fail on a -20C morning.

Mine is bypassed, no problems, or is it needed?
It probably just runs a tiny bit rougher until the motor is fully warm. I'll be bypassing mine too
I'm in S, California. 120+ in the summerr Will be doing the by pass till the new parts arrive.
Thanks for the vid, this fixed my 00hse
same here, now for the heater core.

Why can you not just replace the gasket?
Hi guys im looking for L/H engine mount bracket, for 1996 p38 4.6hse. Can anyone help me?
Couldn't this be eliminated? Just make a plate to cover the hole and loop one of the hoses between the main cooling system and call it a da?
There is no hole to cover. Its just a gasket failure. Glue it back in with whatever. Its not ahead gasket.
