P-51D-30: has surprisingly good turn rate above 400kph, despite its poor turn radius. That pilot: dive, pull up super hard, gets into lower speed one-circle fight
He didn’t properly turn fight on top of this. He messed up his rate, didn’t go out of plane once he saw lead was on him. In a rate fight you always go out of plane if a guy has lead. But even before that he should’ve went vertical.

Lol, they would be on fire due to the test pressures of the supercharger, the K-4 in game, not so historical, and same with both Ta-152s they would be a fire ball because of the engine tune we have, they did not use these tunes as they literally caught on fire.

The outnumbered dogfight on the deck was great, I would appreciate a shot at maybe analyzing mistakes made in fights you lost and how you would have flown it had you been given a second chance. It would help the average pilot think more critically of their playstyle.

Not to be overly critical, but calling people who play mouse aim, third person plane games 'pilots' is like calling people who play CoD 'soldiers'. If he was a simulator player or something that's one thing, but this is just about as far away from real piloting as you could get.

needed to stop by and thank you for all the tips you give us. I've been watching your vids instead of actually playing WT for a while now but I decided yesterday to get back into it. After breaking off the rust I managed an 8 kill game with a 2:15 minute Ace in my f9f cougar. I used to be alright at the game but I know for a fact I never would have been able to manage that game had I not been watching your videos during my break. I will admit though that I did a dirty thing when I accidently missiled a friendly who was in 2nd place. I feel really bad about it but it really put the pressure on to win the game in the end just barely (150 points us vs 1125 them). Keep up the great content and keep dropping your infinite wisdom, we all need it lol

I absolutely love the K4, the 30mm HEI rounds truly do wonders on everything. As German air players know minengeschoss = instant death My advice on how to play it? Stay at a mid to high altitude. don’t engage turn fighters. when in a bad position simply use your energy advantage to climb. Be conservative with your cannon rounds as you only get 65, but when you have a clear shot use your cannons as they will often one shot anything

Well said, whole odd shape that "realistic" battles took is because of the will of impatient and insecure to be called "pilots" with minimal effort or understanding. Hey DEFYN, here's some quick tips for the K-4 I've learned while trying to get it to work with the new shitty matchmaking and bomber filled German teams. First, due to the way the propeller pitch is modeled, the instructor is actually shit at running the plane at maximum efficiency. At speeds below 250 KM/h indicated, the plane loses a shit ton of thrust because the instructor is scared of overrevving the engine. This means: 1. Slow-ass takeoff speeds 2. Inefficient climb at low speed 3. Bad at holding on in stall fights (this is very bad for the bf 109 because it likes stall fighting) To fix #1: Before takeoff, set propeller pitch to 73% until you are at about 240 KM/h indicated. Then switch back to auto engine control or auto propeller control. This trick will get you an extra 700 kgf in thrust and cut takeoff time in half. It takes about 5 tries in test flight to make this habit, it's absolutely worth it. To fix #2: Keep AoA below 5° while climbing, aka climb at about or above 260 KM/h. If you go below this, you will lose propeller efficiency, which slows you down, which worsens propeller efficiency. It's a vicious cycle. To fix #3: When you are in a fight and go below 250 KM/h indicated, set propeller pitch to about 68-70% I recommend setting propeller pitch to this after takeoff, then just putting it on auto control and switching to manual when needed for the extra thrust. I love the 109 G and K (not the G-2). Having the 30mm in the nose means I can click anyone out of the air like nothing, and the 20mm on the wings are a buffer if I run out of 30mm ammo
Try the Ta 152H saw you and adamtheenginerd dogfight each other with it and the p51h still love the thing only issue is matchmaking. Half your team on a good day are bombers and you’re left with 2-4 fighters at best. Pro is you can get double aces left and right in the thing con is if u fight a competent team u can’t dogfight a 1v4 since ur one of 2 fighters on your team. 288 spam makes axis 6.0 lovely. Same applies to ki-83 tbh in my experience
Maybe it’s because i’ve flown 109s a lot but I don’t think the K4 is even close to being outclassed, the only planes it usually faces that are better than it are the P-51H, the yak-3 vk107 and arguably the Spitfire mk22. F4Us, F8Fs, Tempests, P51Ds and F2Gs are super easy to deal with, especially at the start of the match because you will be above them and at medium-high altitude their engines suck, LFMk9 spitfires can be annoying but 1v1 you just need to get them to 6000m, griffon spitfires are very annoying when they 2v1 you (happens a lot) but you can always run away from them. The real problem for the k4 is ju288 spam

which dora? Fw-190-D13? i've got this plane for years but never managed to do well with it. Getting the nose where you want in Fw was always a challenging task for me :D
@@TrixoPLAYS any of them, really. I’m partial to the D-12, the tech tree variant of the D-13 with a 30mm and 2 20s rather than 3 of the 151s. I prefer this one mostly for the skin, the underbelly is red, and the stopping power of the 30mm. They seem to have done a buff to all 190s elevator authority sometime last year, and that helped a lot with the Dora. The lowered br of 5.0 is also really comfortable for the plane. Overall the plane is a great energy fighter.
@@galvaniclegend917 Personally at 5.0 I'd rather take the A-8 over any of the D models. Equal or better firepower to the best of the D models, little bit weaker performance but you get the airspawn. Plus I love the speed at which you can put the takeoff flaps out at. Really helps to get the nose around when you can sacrifice airspeed.
@@thunderhead6133 you can get the flaps out even higher in the Dora, and it’s more powerful inline engine sees me to ~5Km just before or at the same time as almost every A8 I’ve flown with. The air spawn is nice, but the Dora’s extra power makes up for it. It’s also much lighter than the A8, given all the extra 20mm and ammo the A8 carries. This makes the Dora a superb energy fighter at 5.0 imo. The air spawn and extra fire power on the A8 is sure nice, I won’t deny that. I just prefer the performance of the Dora. Plus, the beautiful Red Baron-esque skin on the D-12 :D
Hey defyn, don’t want you to take it out, just want your thoughts on the hornet mk.1, I know there’s not much difference besides the engines (and I know there’s a huge difference there) and that it’s a premium, but besides that I’ve been able to do exactly what a mk.3 does just a little slower if you get me, the only arch nemesis I’ve found to that plane is the ki-83. It’s the only other plane (if you don’t spawn late) that is at that altitude when I get mid map.
Mostly The K-4 was designed to be as good as the G series but run on synthetic fuel (turning coal into oil). Because real fuel didnt exist anymore. This is "Rolling coal: The warbird".
I have 1700 matches in it; by far my most played vehicle. It’s a great plane but the matches can be boring after a while. I’ve played hundreds of small 6v6 matches with four braindead 288s. Gets kinda tiresome shooting down 288s
Legendary 109! No matter how many planes I play, this one always feels sweet to take for a ride. Never tried it with gunpods before, though. Good excuse to revisit it. Btw, how about taking the Harrier GR.3 (or is it the GR.1? Well, the tech tree one) out sometime? Cheers!!

What are some good tips for top tier play when you’re teamed up with at least one other person? I notice a lot of war thunder videos with a focus on solo play, but there are next to none if any that give advice for team play. When I say team of course I mean grouping up with at least one other player before starting a match.
First of all rly nice video GG. But You have to understand @17.37 that not everyone is professional pilot. Majority of us are jus playing game 2-3 hrs in a week. We are got no clue how to control planes as good as you, for me personal it's like black magic. I LOVE plains with all of my hart and I will continue playing even if I'm shtest pilot in the universe. I'll need the ammo too since the probability of you having a team full of Ju-288s is 95% so you gotta stay in the air, but don't take your time too much considering ground pounders, tickets, and fuel. 20 mils are good enough for me. I believe statistics wise the 30s weigh you down more
So from what I gather in this video the 109 K4 is good when it has energy over someone, but if it doesn't you have to sweat and try every trick up your sleeve to try to win the fight, use teammates, take suicidal headons, drop throttle and attempt an overshoot, etc. I get the impression this plane cant do anything if at an energy disadvantage against an even semi competent enemy.
I know this is off topic, but what is your PC setup? I've just been curious what you use to capture footage, what your specs are, and whether you run movie settings, etc. Keep up the video, I haven't played in a while, but I just built a monster PC and have wanted to give it a go again.
That F4U that took that headon is what I don’t get about a lot of people. I don’t mind if people are bad at the game and can’t dogfight well, but some things are just common sense like not taking that headon. This type of common sense applies to so many games too so it’s just baffling how some people just stare at their screen braindead and don’t think for a second about what they’re doing

at 5.7/6.0 germany it's best to just climb with what little fighter's you are bound to have on your team, other then that specific range it depends on what plane you are using/how many teammates you have/what nations you are playing/fighting. MEC wise if you are talking about the k4 climb at 280kmh ias with 100% radiators and WEP, when taking off you can set the prop pitch to 70% until you hit 200kmh ias (when it doesn't make a difference if you have auto on or not) this helps due to the 109 having a relatively small prop thus being more efficient at higher rpms, be careful not to go over 70% though cus any higher and your engine WILL nuke itself.

I love the 109 G and K (not the G-2). Having the 30mm in the nose means I can click anyone out of the air like nothing, and the 20mm on the wings are a buffer if I run out of 30mm ammo
Try the Ta 152H saw you and adamtheenginerd dogfight each other with it and the p51h still love the thing only issue is matchmaking. Half your team on a good day are bombers and you’re left with 2-4 fighters at best. Pro is you can get double aces left and right in the thing con is if u fight a competent team u can’t dogfight a 1v4 since ur one of 2 fighters on your team. 288 spam makes axis 6.0 lovely. Same applies to ki-83 tbh in my experience

Maybe it’s because i’ve flown 109s a lot but I don’t think the K4 is even close to being outclassed, the only planes it usually faces that are better than it are the P-51H, the yak-3 vk107 and arguably the Spitfire mk22.
F4Us, F8Fs, Tempests, P51Ds and F2Gs are super easy to deal with, especially at the start of the match because you will be above them and at medium-high altitude their engines suck, LFMk9 spitfires can be annoying but 1v1 you just need to get them to 6000m, griffon spitfires are very annoying when they 2v1 you (happens a lot) but you can always run away from them.
The real problem for the k4 is ju288 spam

Woooo! Some K-4 footage for the current meta. I really like flying this these days, it still has the tools to deal with 6.0/6.3, but it is a challenge. Day 7 of asking DEFYN to revisit the Dora! :D
which dora? Fw-190-D13? i've got this plane for years but never managed to do well with it. Getting the nose where you want in Fw was always a challenging task for me :D
@@TrixoPLAYS any of them, really. I’m partial to the D-12, the tech tree variant of the D-13 with a 30mm and 2 20s rather than 3 of the 151s. I prefer this one mostly for the skin, the underbelly is red, and the stopping power of the 30mm. They seem to have done a buff to all 190s elevator authority sometime last year, and that helped a lot with the Dora. The lowered br of 5.0 is also really comfortable for the plane. Overall the plane is a great energy fighter.
@@galvaniclegend917 Personally at 5.0 I'd rather take the A-8 over any of the D models. Equal or better firepower to the best of the D models, little bit weaker performance but you get the airspawn. Plus I love the speed at which you can put the takeoff flaps out at. Really helps to get the nose around when you can sacrifice airspeed.
@@thunderhead6133 you can get the flaps out even higher in the Dora, and it’s more powerful inline engine sees me to ~5Km just before or at the same time as almost every A8 I’ve flown with. The air spawn is nice, but the Dora’s extra power makes up for it. It’s also much lighter than the A8, given all the extra 20mm and ammo the A8 carries. This makes the Dora a superb energy fighter at 5.0 imo. The air spawn and extra fire power on the A8 is sure nice, I won’t deny that. I just prefer the performance of the Dora. Plus, the beautiful Red Baron-esque skin on the D-12 :D

Hey defyn, don’t want you to take it out, just want your thoughts on the hornet mk.1, I know there’s not much difference besides the engines (and I know there’s a huge difference there) and that it’s a premium, but besides that I’ve been able to do exactly what a mk.3 does just a little slower if you get me, the only arch nemesis I’ve found to that plane is the ki-83. It’s the only other plane (if you don’t spawn late) that is at that altitude when I get mid map.

Mostly The K-4 was designed to be as good as the G series but run on synthetic fuel (turning coal into oil). Because real fuel didnt exist anymore.

I have 1700 matches in it; by far my most played vehicle. It’s a great plane but the matches can be boring after a while. I’ve played hundreds of small 6v6 matches with four braindead 288s. Gets kinda tiresome shooting down 288s

I like using the 13mm IAI tracers only as well since the 13mm IAI tracer has a closer velocity to the 20mm HEI round than the 20mm tracers.

What are some good tips for top tier play when you’re teamed up with at least one other person? I notice a lot of war thunder videos with a focus on solo play, but there are next to none if any that give advice for team play. When I say team of course I mean grouping up with at least one other player before starting a match.
First of all rly nice video GG. But You have to understand @17.37 that not everyone is professional pilot. Majority of us are jus playing game 2-3 hrs in a week. We are got no clue how to control planes as good as you, for me personal it's like black magic. I LOVE plains with all of my hart and I will continue playing even if I'm shtest pilot in the universe. C U in the sky friend ;)
That P-38k has to fight in such a niche manner.
The plane is actually insane, i dont even play US but i always have trouble against it unless im in a Ta 152 where i can keep up at high altitude

As far as i remember those pods are 20mm, but you still get x2 7.92 and 1 30mm cannon. So those head ons are people eating 30s, 7.92 AND 20s.

keep in mind that in most games you have to 1v6 the the enemy team and 65 rounds will no suffice at all, considering that the 13mm are kinda ass
@@sparkling925 I mean one burst of 5 should really suffice with 30s. You shouldn't be spraying with 20s. I'm sure you'll get there the more you fly the k4. Personally I prefer the g6 with wing pod 30s.

20 mils are good enough. Good firepower and more accurate than the 30s and more ammo

I'll need the ammo too since the probability of you having a team full of Ju-288s is 95% so you gotta stay in the air, but don't take your time too much considering ground pounders, tickets, and fuel. 20 mils are good enough for me. I believe statistics wise the 30s weigh you down more

So from what I gather in this video the 109 K4 is good when it has energy over someone, but if it doesn't you have to sweat and try every trick up your sleeve to try to win the fight, use teammates, take suicidal headons, drop throttle and attempt an overshoot, etc. I get the impression this plane cant do anything if at an energy disadvantage against an even semi competent enemy.

I don’t mind if people are bad at the game and can’t dogfight well, but some things are just common sense like not taking that headon. This type of common sense applies to so many games too so it’s just baffling how some people just stare at their screen braindead and don’t think for a second about what they’re doing

Hi, I’m looking for some advice about what to do at the start of the match. Would you usually side climb with your team or away from your team? Any MEC usage while climbing? Engine temperature management? TIA!
at 5.7/6.0 germany it's best to just climb with what little fighter's you are bound to have on your team, other then that specific range it depends on what plane you are using/how many teammates you have/what nations you are playing/fighting. MEC wise if you are talking about the k4 climb at 280kmh ias with 100% radiators and WEP, when taking off you can set the prop pitch to 70% until you hit 200kmh ias (when it doesn't make a difference if you have auto on or not) this helps due to the 109 having a relatively small prop thus being more efficient at higher rpms, be careful not to go over 70% though cus any higher and your engine WILL nuke itself.
