- This video is a story driven War Thunder Simulator Battles match. I got a little carried away and ended up spending almost 2 weeks making this video.
I hope you enjoy this little attempt in making a normal simulator battles game even more interesting.
I fly a Bf 109 F-2 in EC 3.7 over Stalingrad. - เกม
Didn't expect to watch the whole video but your commentary was very good so I did
Thank you! :)
Agreed, I don’t usually watch all of these but commentary was good, now I’m digging out my ps5 again, I forgot how much fun this game is
Awesome! I'll look for you ;)
The F series of 109s are so good, light and manouverable
I agree! And they feel great to fly :)
Honestly, I love the way you mix the history channel style narration with first person gameplay. I dont play war thunder, and I am just getting into aerial combat. I would love to understand more about the technical concepts of aerial battle demonstrated through your first person play
Thank you! As you say, it would be cool if I commented on what I do in more technical terms. Good idea!
Unfortunately, I don't always know what I am doing in the heat of the moment. :)
The air combat tutorial library channel covers most of what you need to get started in air combat. Its one of the brst resources for when you start out
Dude. This was AWESOME!!! Everything about this was perfect - the story, your camera angles, the way you maintained sight on your enemies, and the way you talk through everything - including your real-time commentary and your post-match narration. Very well done - please do MORE of these! I'd be keen to see you do this for different nations and different BRs as well.
Thanks man, appreciate it! :)
I do plan to make more videos like these with different aircraft.
late here but just got into playing with joystick and vr, I must say you are far better at spotting those small black dots at distance than I am
Hey dude! I use TrackIR and it took time for me to get used to spotting. Now I know exactly what to look for and where to look. :) gl to you!
Vr is very funny because you can lean out of the plane, stand up to look behind you or look through the floor of the plane
7:50 I love how you can lead your shots so well and play boom and zoom. Good job
Thanks man. I've had some practise :) I'm sure anyone can get to learn that pretty fast. See you in the skies I hope!
You deserve a lot more attention, you make the battle seem so intense with the commentary great video :)
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it! :)
I love these video's you do! Please keep them coming! They are amazing!
woah you play sim...and youre good and dont play it as a joke. you earned a new subscriber mate
Much appreciated!
Honestly thought you were a TH-camr with at least a million subs, great content and your videos made me think about how I could play better myself, keep up the good work and you will definitely hit phly daily status.
Thank you, that's very kind of you!
I'm glad you liked my videos :)
bro this is amazing keep it up man, I love this style of video
Hey man, thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. More is on its way.
this channel is so underrated the commentary is ace
Really enjoyed this! Thanks, just started dipping my toe into sim mode..
Thanks man! I hope you enjoy sim mode. It can be really rewarding once you get the hang of it.
cool video, I hope your channel grows
Something about the way you make your war thunder vids i can't get enough of, i just binged every single one and I'm honestly so sad there isn't more lol
Fear not! More is on it's way.
And thank you so much for your kind words! :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 can I ask what got you into WT sim as opposed to something like IL-2 or DCS warbirds?
I started with war thunder RB a long time ago and then I saw a guy play SB on TH-cam and I thought it looked fun. I have tried both DCS and Il-2 and they are both fun games. I think I've stayed with war thunder sim because I enjoy a good multiplayer experience and all the different aircraft to fly. Even tank sb from time to time. Lately, I have had a lot of fun in IL-2 as I also like the more realistic engine management and actually having to navigate ^^
@@involuntarycommander8804 I've always wanted to get into SB but i dont really know how i guess, not that I have any excuse not to learn
You have very few videos, but all of them have good quality. Please keep doing War Thunder Sim videos; these videos are so satisfactory.
Thank you! I plan to continue doing more sim videos :)
Wrong word dude. It is an arcade game, not sim... It is far away from sim...
@@JosephHallenbeck its the easiest way to say that. And literally the name of the mode in war thunder is "Simulator Battle".
Awesome ride! Loved it
Thank you :)
Storytelling is awesome
Nice video bro… excellent skills
Thanks man! Glad you liked the video.
this was amazing
Good video, good job !
cool flying keep it up bud
Very nice video, can I ask what you're using for controls? I'm currently using a HOTAS for xbox but the VR ability to look around is getting me tempted for sure to consider switching to PC
I am using a HOTAS. And I use a head tracker called TrackIR. I'm on PC.
I do not know if there is a head tracker on xbox.
Isn't xbox controllers usually compatible with PC. Microsoft and all..
Maybe try it? The game is free so it's worth a shot!
How do you set up the curves for your headtracking? When I set mine its either too high sensitivity so my view just keeps snapping around or its too low so my eyes are strained looking at the screen from a high angle.
Hey man, I have a video that explains TrackIR, which is the head tracker I use.
Hopefully that will help you. Good luck :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 Thanks! It will certainly help alot.
awesome video
Thanks! :)
also, are you playing in vr and on joystick?if you are on joystick, which one are you using?i am thinking of getting one myself just cant decide which one
I use TrackIR 5 and a Joystick with throttle, saitek x55 rhino. It's nothing special but works fine. It is called logitech x56 now I think.
The combination of trackIR and joystick makes the whole sim experience even more immersive in my opinion!
While gliding without engine power you should activate propeller feathering or set the prop pitch to zero
Yeah, you are right. That should have helped a lot. However, at this point, I had not yet set up any MEC for the Bf109. What I know of MEC is not required to be competitive in War thunder, but I might be wrong!
How do you put yourself with so much fov? i when i play i feel like im always eating the instruments and windows and that when i enter a dogfight it gets even worst
great storytelling
Thanks man, appreciate it!
Hello there! May I ask you, what tools are you using to play sim battles? I would like to try it in the future, but it seems it is quite useful to have some VR goggles and a joystick. Is that so?
Of course! I use a hotas (joystick and throttle) for controlling my plane. And for looking around, I use a head tracker called TrackIR. It is not the same as VR but it serves the same purpose by using your head to look around with.
I hope that helped! Is there anything else I can help you with?
Nice piloting again. I must say that italian p 47 was doing great job keeping fat cat on yak's control zone. P47 isnt the easiest plane to fly but seen some people dominating matches with it. Dont ask me how i dont know haha.
Yeah, he was flying like a god. I was amazed at what he was able to pull off in that flying behemoth.
Fellow 109 pilot here. Amazing flying.
Thanks man! :)
What a useful teammate
We had a connection
Felt like I was watching a documentary
I was aiming for something similar, like storytelling. I hope you enjoyed it! :)
My gaming laptop is broken, I could only whatch a few minutes before my War thunder craving went through the roof but nice couple of minutes there
awesome video, what editing software do you use? Thanks
Cool video, G
Thanks man!
wonderfull
Gday mate, beautiful video!!
Are you using a HOTAS? Are you also using head tracking? If so which type?
I really struggle tracking whilst in dog fights just using my HOTAS hat to look around.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks man!
Yes I am using a HOTAS. And I use TrackIR5 as a head tracker.
I understand. I went and bought a TrackIR at the same time I bought my hotas for that exact problem.
If you have the money, I can highly recommend trackir.
Good luck to you!
@@involuntarycommander8804 ye man I don't think I'll bother playing sim again until I get one. Appreciate your response. Was looking at the new Tobii eye tracker head tracker but I don't think it has as many axis of tracking.
@HairyCactus I understand. Maybe you'll invest in a trackir or vr in the future and give sim another go!
Also, there is a lot of layer that play sim without it. Maybe investigate how they handle their tracking.
Good luck :)
Just orderd Track Ir 5, ill check in and let you know how much better i do. I still manage to get top 3 of the lobby most times but i really struggle tracking and defending as obvs i cant see sh!t haha. Thanks agian for your time mate. Love your work!! Could you please make some videos in russian planes? @@involuntarycommander8804
Hey man, I hope trackir is working out for you. :)
I play a lot of warthunder (Air RB) and dont have a joystick anyway to play sim yet... But this makes me want get one asap
Hey man! Getting a Joystick really improved the immersion of the game for me.
As you say, I think a Joystick works best in the Simulator battles mode. There are cheap ones to buy that work really well.
I hope you give SB a shot :)
I used a mouse for a while in sim, it works just fine.
@fionn5602 mice dont have the return to centre feature that a joystick has, which is why I find it awkward
Sim battles is whole another dimension! :O Do u think pilots irl could 'stand' in their cabin (like u did) to view better, or g-force wouldn't allow it?
I'd like to think that I'm a tall pilot, or that I'm sitting on a pillow ;)
To be honest, I have no idea.
Do you mean arcade battles? This game is an arcade, not the sim...
I feel like i need to play this. I play dcs, bms and IL2. With a hotas and track ir setup.
I tried playijg arcade this way, but furballs with ppl playing mouse and keys in 3rd person makes it a handicap.
Do you think sim is way to go for me then?
Hey man you should definitely try simulator battles, especially if you already have experience in il-2 and dcs.
Think of war thunder sim like IL-2 with easier/minimal engine management and way easier spotting and smaller maps. :)
I hope this answer provides you with some useful information!
@@involuntarycommander8804 I tried it! It's good! Very easy to spot targets in the air, and friendly AAA firing at aircraft makes it very easy to spot bad guys as well. :) Lots of sky spaghetti to tip off places where fights are happening as well!
Nice! Yeah it's nice if you want some relatively quick action compared to the more realistic sim games.
Maybe I'll see you in game then ;)
You are not using vr. Can you show us your controls. I love your camera moves. Can you tell me how you did the displacement in the cockpit?
I'm using TrackIR to control the camera. I have a video about it :)
nice video! do you use VR or how do you look around and zoom in and out?
Thank you! :)
I use a head tracker called TrackIR to look around. I have a keybind for zooming in and out.
@@involuntarycommander8804 thanks for the quick reply buddy. Want to start sim battles aswell. Will definitely check it out ;-)
I'm happy to help! And good luck trying out sim battles. It's lots of fun :)
Hey, I also just started flying sim, what joystick do you have and what keybinds do you use?
I use a saitek x55 rhino hotas. I think it a logitech product now called logitech x56 something.
With regards to keybinds I would say the most important is the pitch sensitivity and that is up to preference.
Is this a head tracker or VR?! It's so good!
It's a head tracker. TrackIR5 to be precise:)
War Thunder has the best terrain in any combat sim.
True!
Probably because the tech they use to generate it is to the standard needed for Ground battles.
They use actual places tho so it’s gonna feel natural
How this channel are not Famous??!?!?!?
Epic
do you use i track and flight stick?
I use TrackIR and a HOTAS :)
Hell yeah! 109 rules
What head tracking are you using?
I'm using TrackIR:)
You sir, will become very well recieved on youtube, I can promise you this, when you get there, remember this comment.
Haha we'll see. But thanks anyway :)
I'll remember the comment. If I don't, remind me will you!
where are you from?
Can you share your commands?? I cant understand how you turn without mouse
I use a joystick and a throttle for controlling the aircraft I am flying.
If you are using a joystick, there is no mouse indicator in the middle of the screen as there are if you play with mouse and keyboard. Maybe that is what looks weird to you. :)
how do you control the steering rudder?
I use a stick with a twist axis to control my rudder.
are you using mouse and keyboard?
I am using a Joystick! Saitek x55.
I really want to play sim in my spitfire mk22 but I can't get my trim right I keep spinning out
Try lowering the elevator sensitivity :)
What is your head tracking setup?
I use a TrackIR. I have a video of my specific setup :)
Wait... You're Mr.Bombastic?! I've played numerous games with you in Air SB.
Yes. That is what they used to call me. Mr.Bombastic...
I am InvoluntaryCommander
are you playing with Vr? or trackIr?
I use TrackIR :)
109 superiority 🥹 Nice flying man! God I love this plane.
Did you ever try DCS? The FM is awesome there, though U have to use a rudder and have a decent joy to enjoy it the most.
Thanks man!
I did try out DCS a while ago. It's a cool game. But I haven't got any of the WW2 modules.
I fly IL-2 from time to time as well.
For me, War thunder is the easiest game to just hop into a match and get some pvp action :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 Indeed. Also, the sense of progressing with money and crew training is very rewarding 😹 Nowadays I mostly go tanks and air RB, just for the ease of use
I agree and unlocking new planes probably has me hooked haha 😄
@@involuntarycommander8804 So addictive 🫠
how do you move the camera like that
Hey dude, I use a head tracker called TrackIR. I can't play without it!
I am so bad at sim fighting. I struggle to even hit a bomber who is flying straight :(
Keep practicing! I remember when I was struggling with that too. After every session I got a little bit better so I'm sure you'll manage too. Good luck man.
@@involuntarycommander8804 When you were getting into using fighters, did you find flight stick (assuming you use one) easier, or Mouse and keyboard?
@imenvelope I never flew sim with m&k so I can't say. I would think m&k is easier to start with but flight stick doesn't take many hours to get used to.
@@involuntarycommander8804 alright thanks mate. I'll give Flightstick a go, but if I struggle too much i will continue giving M&K a go. cheers!
I had honestly thought you had gotten 100 kills, because that is what it took for a german Pilot to be called an Ace in WWII. Well, 8 also does it I guess.
I did not know that, good catch! From the allies perspective, this Bf 109 pilot would have been an Ace :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 Give it another 13 matches like that and you will have your Ace ;)
@theol.1988 😆
"Ace" was still 5 kills but the Germans had such a target rich environment not too much was thought of it.
"Superace" is what the Allies called German aces with 100+ kills, the Germans called them "Experten".
Are you using a headtracker or playing vr?
Headtracker. I'm using TrackIR :)
You use joystick or mouse?
I'm using a Joystick. Saitek x55 rhino. :)
Nice video, but remember the Luftwaffe requires 7 kills to become an Ace.
Thank you. Yeah, someone told me that it required more than 5 kills, my bad.
Fortunately, I became an ace anyway :)
Where is this 7 kills to ace status thing coming from? Utter B$, I can't find it anywhere.
No idea xD
Dude nice video, would be nice to do a two ship video! Im down for that! Great job!
My problem is I'm always pulling up way too hard and losing stability
You can try to adjust the pitch sensitivity and lower it. For some planes you cannot have the same settings. For example, the typhoon needs a higher pitch sensitivity to make a tight turn and the Spitfire's pitch sensitivity can be turned down a bit to be less likely to stall out.
@@involuntarycommander8804 Thanks! I'll try that next time
The video is great and the commentary is great, but please try and fix your mic
which bf109 is that
It's the F-2
wow, you grind with SB only ?!?
I only play SB :)
And war thunder sure is grindy.
Is this the Sailing Robyn?
Nope! :)
what’s the reward for sim kill in wt
In War thunder simulator battles, you are rewarded for "useful actions" wich is counted every 15 minutes. Kills and objectives are all counted as useful actions.
thx bro
Is it vr?
I use TrackIR :)
how do u do that? I die all the time in sim
I've had some practise!
You'll get better soon enough :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 also, can you do a P51 mustang ace video?
I will definitely do a P51 video soon! :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 ok thx
great video! . If you are into WW2 combat sims , check out DCS ww2 .
Thanks! I might check it sometime. Do you know if there are enough ww2 players in DCS and if there are any cool dynamic war servers like in IL-2?
@@involuntarycommander8804 DCS ww2 doesn't have the amount of aircraft , neither the amount of players online as IL2 . But I highly recommend you to give it a shot . the FM , DM and level of detail of DCS aircrafts , are unique.
@eagle1_160 ok, thanks for the tip :)
If you ever give it a shot. Check out 4YA PO server has an average of 50-60 players during the evening european time. The server has 7 rotative historical missions .
Also, wolfpack server for North american Time evening.
5:40 man you have to improve your aim, you wasted almost all of your ammo on him. Imagine if there was another enemy and you'd have to spent as much ammo as you just did on this guy. You'd be screwed. Always keep an eye on how much ammo you have left.
*You didnt waste almost everything but a lot
@@chickenwings1502 hey, i think we just played a sim match together lol
Sim but not sim
True it's not as detailed as il2 or dcs which are also good games. But I like the fact that war thunder brings non simers into the hobby by being very accessible. Wouldn't you agree
There is something better out there, than WarThunder.
It is called "IL-2 Great Battles"
Give it a try
I have tried it out a bit. It is great fun. However, a lot more people play in squads there, so if you just wanna do a quick game alone it's hard to go in solo and expect to survive :)
@@involuntarycommander8804 Thats true. Maybe we can join up together, I suffer atm from the same problem, as my former squadron mates went old or family.
If you do ANY flying in 3rd person then this video is a sham.
Rest assured, I do not :)
I don't even think that's possible in simulator battles mode!
Fighter ace? Nope i see a guy playing arcade game. Let's try It in DCS and than you'll be a hardcore player but Fighter Ace? Nope.
Just let him play the game, plus it's not as easy as you would believe to play war thunder sim, it misses the more practical elements such as interactive cockpits but it makes up for it as it's a fun and stress relieving game mode to play when bored.
cant believe theres milsim movies about warthunder 💀
