  • @juliegoldman6778
    @juliegoldman6778 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Biggest mistake: "fuzzes are always muddy and uncontrollable".....This is because you are playing into an amp at the point of breakup.
    If you play with a clean tone, the fuzz will be nastier and more controllable. If you want more sustain, a mushier sound that's more synthy (ie, your Muff tone at the beginning), then do what you're doin'.
    It's great you covered the Fuzzrite, which is the most overlooked on top fuzz lists. Though, its the sound of 60's garage !

  • @AlexAnder-ri8ns
    @AlexAnder-ri8ns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thank you SO MUCH for explaining that you kinda need that "dirty clean" tone to get the most out of the fuzzes! So many TH-cam guitarists ignore it and play into a clean channel which makes the fuzz sound frizzy and harsh.

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot! There are not many fuzz pedals that sound great into a clean amp. If someone doesn't think about that when making a demo, that clearly shows, that this person is not a big fuzz fan. haha! No but seriously, these are the little things you figure out as soon as you start digging deeper and deeper into fuzzes. Cheers! //Kris

    Keine groben Schnitzer in der Schnitttechnik die bei angucken eines Videos zu Augenkrebs führen würden.
    Der Sound ist wunderbar abgestimmt. Die Auswahl der Effekte schön breit gefächert - hätte auch gern noch mehr sein können.

    Hi! I get a loud buzzing sound when I plug my single coil Tele to Ram's head big muff. The sound gets louder when I turn up the volume and does not go away when I touch the strings. I don't get that noise from my deluxe affinity Tele with humbuckers though. Is that normal?

    • @zachary963
      @zachary963 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Single coils are noisier. Humbuckers are called humbuckers cos they get rid of the humming and buzzing. Fuzzes, like all distortion out loud volume, will exacerbate any noise.
      Potential fixes: Wax your pickups, or find another way to treat them; change your body position (depending on the angle, you might get more feedback and therefore more noise); make sure that your pickups are set up right (meaning the height); installing single-coil sized humbuckers like the Seymour Duncan Little ‘59s.
      Source: fighting with my single coil super strat for five years and loving every minute of it

    There's 2 sides to the octavia. I don't think you properly conveyed that if you turn down the fuzz completely and turned the octave all the way up, you get the octavia sound. It's a cool sound by itself on the neck pickup, with guitars volume and tone turned down a little, and played around the 12th fret. Then of course push that sound with the fuzz face and you get the purple haze solo sound.

    • @harleyrider9166
      @harleyrider9166 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Best Why would he? Since this video was about “fuzz”, then he was actually smart not to go into detail about the octave sound on the Octavia...lol:) He kept the focus on “fuzz” which he should have...smh.

    • @harleyrider9166
      @harleyrider9166 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ozlo Houser your logic is pure horse shit. The title of the video is Top 5 Classic “Fuzzes” so that would be the subject. The Octavia unit also has fuzz ....that being said, he focused on the fuzz portion of the unit since that’s what the video is about and that’s what it’s title says as well. Your focus is misdirected and octave is not the subject. Why even argue it? Go to a Top 5 Octave pedal video and find your information there, not in a fuzz pedal video..LMAO:) Would you show off tires on a car video that is titled biggest turbo engines. If we use your logic you would say well the car has tires so why didn’t he show them...LMAO:)

      Try manipulating your guitars volume to get the right tone out of the fuzz. Most people make the mistake of diming out their guitar's volume all the time. Back off on the guitar volume a little and see where that takes you.

    Rolloff the tone on gtr for the true innagaddavida thing. And the only one that doesn't KrCkle at the start if notes is the Fuzzrite.

      Dinosaur Jr. made a career out of fuzz pedals into clean amps, if I recall correctly. You really have to try it to know which pedals like the dirt. IMO most of the fuzz pedals in my collection sound better into a dirty channel set to low gain, for sure, but not all of them and its a matter of taste.

    • @justrockon426
      @justrockon426 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you should also try an overdrive after the fuzz, in a clean, and in a slightly saturated amp. more possibilities for you.

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A fuzz pedal into a clean fender amp always sounds the best to me. I got a seymour duncan fuzz pedal I think 15 years ago, it was the first pedal SD ever made, and that thing is still the best fuzz pedal I've ever heard. Strat Bridge pickup into that fuzz into my fender amp which had an enormous amount of headroom is incredible sounding. It has 6 different kinds of fuzz on it and the lowest setting actually is amazing for classic rock, it's pretty much overdrive, and then the heaviest setting with the gain turned up is basically a grunge machine, it's so loose and wild and uncontrollable. I think seymour duncan stopped making the pedal which is a shame. Its a big yellow thing. That's served me well through so many gigs.

    I dont like modern generic distortion pedals and tone. I think fast shredding actually sounds better on older amps and pedals.
