Prince of Tone is the Red Side of the King. I’ve had two of them, and am on my second King of Tone, which I waited over five years for. Love it! Sounds great!
Guys, the HEAVY MUSIC AIRSHIP @ 4:49 sounds just like this band that came out in the 70’s, maaaybe you whipper snappers haven’t heard of ‘em but they influenced billions of musicians, I learned myself drums by playing along with the drummer when I was 13 for 4 hours every night before homework, the album just had a ‘IV’ on it with an old man carrying sticks on his back. I don’t recall their name at all but the drummer was so badass he played the kit with his bare hands! I also heard they did something questionable with a fish?? You should do a google search, I think the guitarist played his Gibson with a violin bowstring? His name was Page I think? Yeah Page. They toured by blimps only and the band broke up when the drummer drank like 53 shots of vodka and set his blimp on fire. There’s a picture of it on one of their last albums. I can’t believe they thought that was a practical way to tour! I mean The Cure uses the Queen Mary to come to America because they’re afraid of flying so I get it..
The Beano Boost is one of those must have pedals. Doubly so if you're using a 60s style British amp. Marshalls, Voxes, Laneys. They can all get very dark and muddy when pushed into overdrive. Even more so with a fuzz doing its thing. The Rangemaster was invented to bring a little brightness back. So having that in a very pedal board friendly package is just nice.
King of tone has been on my board for about 6 years. All others have fallen by thewayside.. Even the strymons. Gotta make room for that sweet chase bliss, baby!!
KoT is the last pedal in my OD/Dist string. The last pedal has the largest effect on overall tone/eq. That's why the KoT is there. It's like the Fender amp of pedals.
On the KoT wait list - just so people have realistic expectations: I got on the list October 2018. At the time people were saying "about 2 years", I figured 2.5 - 3. Right now he is shipping to people who got on the list before 18 June 2017. I have the page bookmarked. Over the last 12 months the date has been moving forward around a month every two and a half months...quite...slowly. He's been getting a lot of orders from people who got to the top of the list ages ago but only decide to buy much later (there's no time limit on that). At this rate I'm thinking I'll get my email late 2022 early 2023. So that's *five years* If you'd ordered two years ago. I'd budget at least 6 years.
Helix is much more expensive than a KoT. But sure has a lot more flexibility! There are some EQ tweaks required if you want to get really close. The KoT emulation takes up 2 slots of your 6 (or 4 on the Helix Stomp.) I dunno if it can model my KoT with the different op amp in the yellow side (OPA2134). Search TH-cam for "helix vs king of tone" for examples.
Somebody said it: The Toadies WHOOP. Vibrato on feedback, alternate time signatures, heavy prog from the swamp... They were the antidote to a lot of the music of the era.
I have the NKT red dot. I had no idea it was rare when i ordered it from the analogman website in 2018-ish
If one day for some reason you decide to sell it, I'll be there to buy it.
3:55 that’s the Leslie West pedal. He used that on some of Mountain’s best riffs.
I also get overly excited when the pedal is in a bag in the box.
The gag at 5:10 alone deserves a like!
My K.O.T is coming after August this year 2024...5 year wait...it will be longer wait times now I imagine...
5:15 Nick goin' Muppet-style on it
He resurrected my dead TS9 over 20 years ago with a 808 mod and Tru Bypass switch. Still playing it! I love that pedal!
wonderful
8:08 it sounds like i need this pedal

Man, I was JUUUUST thinking about getting a PoT. Now prices are going to skyrocket. Thanks Josh.
The drum sound on these videos is impressive.
The website is really helpful for understanding pedals
These jams are rad and getting better with every vid!!!
Love you, Josh
Yup, Tyler is my favorite jam on that album... one of my all time favorite albums
I have the NKT white dot, cleans up and chimes, absolute bliss tone.
Analogman DS-1 was my first "boutique" pedal. I now have and dig one with the mids knob.
Seriously guys, i love your videos!
Rubberneck is a great album! Backslider is basically my childhood in song.
Love every one of my AnalogMan pedals!
@4:33 did Josh just call me a nerd?!?
Not that you ever sound bad but exceptionally smooth playing in the first jam, and so on there josh
Absolutely love this episode!
MY KOT was a 4 year wait. It’s beautiful and sounds great.
I like the drumming after the fuzz demo. Go boy
One of the best episodes, and most humorous
His BC109 Sun Face is amazing!
Sounds great, Josh. The drummer sounds great, too
Haha, I made that comment before 4:49

Been on the wait list for a king of tone since august 2018, hope to get it next year
Looks like my CompROSSor has just shipped, and I cannot wait to get it.
Rumble is always a nice touch
That album is definitely in my top 5 90s albums.

3:27 imo the Peppermint is more underrated than the Astrotone
So good. Loved the ep
Love the link Wray style Song playing during record time! 🤘🏽🤯🤓🎛
Your videos have become the best.
my favorite episode!!!
Scott makes fun on analogman pedals , Demos are the worst, he envy the sun lion.
Good record pick Josh!
This is so much better than cable!
Enjoy your channel Josh!!! #1 Class guy!!
Wow, the Astrotone sounds great!!
lol I came for some perspective on the Astro, and was not disappointed. Buying.
I saw the Toadies live in the 90’s, great show. Great tracks!
I've been on the KOT waiting list since Feb of 2018. Still worth the wait, in my opinion.
I like it when you have the box.
The tone on Rubberneck is killer.
Besides all that, he's a wonderful guy with skills/knowhow to back it up!
great songs josh!
I like how mike put the orange sunshine acid artwork on that compressor
No mention of the tube screamer or blues driver 😮 dang
So hard to pick what Sunface ! He’s got so many now ! NKT is awesome sound right there ! Love it
The Hybrid RCA/BART germanium transistors sound amazing.
He has the BAG! 🎶🎹
Astro Tone is such a killer pedal and yeah, nearly a sleeper.
I love it deeply 😎
10:08 😂
That Les Paul sounds fantastic
Josh, you’re a really good guitar player.
This site is my escape from reality. Thanks so much.
the astro fuzz copy sound amazing
Thanks, now I have to buy a BC 109.
Analog Mike owes you a kickback.
His Beano Boost is the best thing ever.
I like the names he comes up with

I could be dead by then.
Got 'staying alive' stuck in my head now thanks
5yrs wait for KoT now!
Helix owners for the KOT and POT without the wait.

I like the channel content and the guitar playing.
Thanks for the record time tip. I was 7 when Rubberneck by Toadies came out. It actually sounds pretty cool 😎
Great vid - would love to see a similar one for skreddy pedals
Still wating patiently for my KOT since 2021, they are fulfilling 2018 requests now, 3 more years to go 🥲
My day's going fine. Thank you for asking.
Yeah go Nick!!!!
Sun Lion, best Mike pedal, ever! Just found your videos, fantastic. Love your myth busters, spot on!
Just an update on the KoT waiting list... I just received my email to buy one after a merely 6 years.... 🤯Was on the list since 2018. It's bonkers!
I have a kot and Bichorus. Love them both. That sunlion is pretty cool. Great stuff today!!
Really fantastic video today! Thanks JHS!!!
This channel has introduced me to so much new music.
Great show, I love the Toadies and 90s alt rock but would love a copy of the book by Mike
💖 He has the box! 💖
I have that book, I bought it several years ago maybe in 2007 from ebay USA, it's very interesting
9:38 song name “Bit dust but still livin”
Rubberneck is one of my favorite albums ever!!!! I come from the water amd Tyler are like my favorite songs ever
My first pedal was a Sam Ash Fuzz, bought from Sam Ash in Huntington.
I like Rubberneck because it shares the name of my favorite delay the DOD Rubberneck
Good call on Rubberneck. 1 of my all time favorites. Mexican Hairless has some of the best lead tones
Wow! I played on that Toadies record and I don't even have a vinyl copy of it. Haha. Love the channel Josh.
The big box Fulltone 69 pedals use NKT transistors too. They sound great too.
The Astrotone is awesome. I have number 117.
I was on the KOT wait list for 5 years :D
I saw Toadies open for Bush in 1995-6. Dear god, they were massive. And Rubberneck is an awesome record. ESPECIALLY Tyler.
I can has vinyl now? ;)
Had the astrotone for a couple years. Prop my favorite overdrive/ fuzz pedal. Need to get another one
His tube screamer silver mod & comROSSor are amazing pedals
Sunface, Prince of Tone and Peppermint fuzz are my favs
