I have installed a few of them in Nigeria and Ghana. They have been very reliable. I prefer to have an external mppt to one built in. The standby consumption is a bit high but it does the job
That's great to hear, so far it has been a good unit and I really haven't pushed it at all but that's why I got this size I'm hoping it will last for years.
Very good choice it should cover almost all your power needs in the home. I currently own 2 10k@ 48v units for going on 3 years and up to date have not had any issues, one unit powers my house and other one covers my work shop, take the advice and run 2 battery banks in case you loose one. What I do is charge one bank while I'm connected or using power from other. It gives time to fully charge the one bank that is no being used, once charged my system sends the extra energy to the bank that is being used. As a electrician by trade, I was able to get square D 200 amp contractors to handle the high voltage side so only one battery bank is always being used with a 5 msec. Delayed between transfer to avoid disruption of power the same thing happens on low or 48v side. Any help please contact me, I have 35 years in the trade
Yeah it's been a ongoing process for me. I will say if someone is serious about it go ahead and go for at least a 24V system to start with. The cost difference in the inverters aren't that much difference. But I guess I'll have the 12V inverter for back-up now. Thanks man!
***** You will be light years ahead of me. I have a 1500 watt pure sinewave inverter that I got from Sears four years ago. I only have one GrapeSolar 165w panel (for now). My plan is to setup a 12VDC system with 12VDC appliances (LED lights, TV, and fridge). The inverter is to run stuff I can't get in 12VDC.
Commsprepper Yeah I went with 12V to start with to learn more about it first, plus that was about I could afford. Right now my system is more for back up power than anything. But once I get this going I'm going to use the system more on a regular basis.
Awesome. That's a big 'um for sure! You'll be able to have some luxuries and a measure of comfort, not just necessary stuff. That's a beast! Thanks for the video Peace
Top stuff mate. Now you can go OFF GRID. man they rock. Yes they use a bit more on amps on standby but you can even weld with that :) So happy for you my friend :)
I got the same brand and color at least...lol..mines a 24 volt 2000 Aims but it's only 48 pounds..I'm happy with it even though it took 8 batteries but I'm only going up to 700 watts on the panels for now..I've had it about a month..its pretty quiet even under a good load...one thing I like is it's got some copper in it...yours probably has 30 pounds in the coils...you're gonna like it if it's anything like mine
48Volt will allow you run smaller wires so you will save on copper and yes you will want at least 2 banks of 48volt batteries at the minimum. Hope there quality has gotten better than in the past or maybe its not made by AIMS. I have two AIMS inverters and both died around 4 to 8 months of use off and on with half there rated capacity. Let us know if it is still working. Thanks
so far its working fine. they didn't have a smaller one at the time I ordered. So it's got way more capacity than I need. It's not nowhere near even getting warm. So will probably last a long time.
yankey4 Yeah was thinking of 24V also but went ahead figured I'd jump to 48V, that's one of the reasons I went ahead with this larger one it was just a little more. Hopefully I'll have this unit running next week so we can see how it seems to run.
I do have a gas powered generator as well. But have only used it a couple times, the system I have now usually will supply my basic needs when the power is out.
Very cool,... Makes me think perhaps after the a shotgun I'll have enough firearms and ammo (for a wee little bit anyway) and start thinking about a system myself..., Does solar just reduce the amount of power you use and/or eliminate the power bill or can you actually roll the meter backwards, so to speak, and accumulate credit,.. just wondered? PoormanPrepper
Yes you can cut your power bill or if you invest enough you can roll your meter backwards. But it takes thousands of dollars to get to that point. My goal is to go off grid in a few years or least close to it. But I don't use much power and will be easier for me compared to a family with children and a lot of power being used. This project started just as back up power if the grid went down either short term or long. Thanks man. .
Nice unit! Was looking at the same one a while back. Good luck with you new project! Looks kinda like the MPP 4048 on steroids. lol! 48 volts is the best way to go!
My 12 volt 6000 watt inverter, can't even power my 1000 watt microwave oven over 30 seconds. I run 0 AWG wire in my system. But a second batter may be needed in my 2018 Kia Soul.
Hey, Nice Inverter...I seen that Video you did at the end, when you spun that big revolver with your 1 finger back and forth after getting the shot off out of the Holster. Looked pretty slick like in a Old Cowboy Movie! Must have took a lot of practice? I see shit like that I'm runnin the other way! Lol !!!
The only thing I have heard ....On RARE Occasions The inverter/charger is set/programmed incorrectly from the factory. All else seems folks quite like them.
Yeah overall AIMS seemed to be a good choice. I went by what Solar companies sold as well to kinda give me a idea of what should be good inverters if they sold and backed them. Thanks!
I wanted to go to 48V and that was the cheapest one I could find that seemed to be a quality unit. I wanted a 2000 to 3000 watt unit, but couldn't find one. it's overkill for me would never push it to 6000w.
TRprepper great! Also, is this UL listed? I found an "HP 6kw solar inverter with 48v built in charge controller" for $1400 shipped but they want more for the UL listed version... app.alibaba.com/dynamiclink?touchId=60552492993&type=product&schema=enalibaba%3A%2F%2Fdetail%3Fid%3D60552492993%26ck%3Dshare_detail&ck=share_detail&shareScene=buyer
Hello TR, Have you had any issues with this unit? I saw a Aims inverter fail, and you posted that you have not had any issues with your unit. I am about to pull the trigger on an inverter. Thanks, Ben
Yeah I've heard a few people have had problems with them. I still haven't had a problem, but I nowhere close to push it to it's max. Maybe that's why I've no problem. Buy one bigger than you need and hopefully it will work for you as well.
I've had very good luck with my 2 10K@48v units, both run none stop for over 3 years, one runs my home other one powers my work shop. Given the choice again I would do it again.
When I set up my hybrid system I base my system at NO more than 15% of your battery bank you don't want to put more than that back into your system with out stressing your batteries, rule of thumb for every amp of draw figure about a 1.5 amp of charge. So sized up your system to about 20% to 25% depending on weather too, cold clear days your panels will put out more power, do it safe
That looks just like the GTPOWER inverters sold on Amazon today (December 2017) It looks like AIMS is selling there older models under the GTPOWER brand. Anyone able to confirm this? or is GTPOWER just some other Chinese company just using parts that AIMS is no longer using on there newer products? I have also seen these sold under the name SUNGOLDPOWER
Hay. U no what i did lolol i got to battrys. 12volt. I got boost inverter. 12dc to 120volts. I got a 800watt sine wave. To took them apart and Saturday leave between them both so they are linked together now running in parallel. , now I have 1600 watt inverter two 100 watt solar panel keep forgetting the names of them they're the same ones as the new Harbor Freight one I have two sets of them and I run both sets all 8 panels four of them in parallel and the other four and parallel but then I run both of them and series which makes 48 volts. And I have to use a step down to charge my batteries which I don't use them at all at the moment cuz I don't have a step down but what I do do is I use my 48 volts from the Sun and the solar panels to boost it up to a hundred twenty volt DC and run into my grid tie inverter I don't need to run it at 120 volts because my DC inverter can't handle that but I do Boost it up quite some and Powers quite a lot of my house from just 200 watts of solar panels all together hooked up to a DC boost converter to a DC inverter to AC two of them 800 watts apiece
I install solar systems and I use for controllers I use midnight for controllers magnum inverters the inverter is and inverter/charger and crown batteries but this one looks pretty good but the magnum is a very good inverter but I never heard nothing bad about aims as a matter a fact I seen those working and they work really good nice and quite but a cheaper brand magnum is more expensive but my customers really like the magnum
Congratulations on the buy, However, these are not approved for the US market and somehow AIMS ( the crappiest of crappies for inverters) got them imported through Mexico and put new stickers on them. They are bug collectors. They emit a noise loved by flying insects. Be very careful how and where you mount them, Sold by Mah Weh ( spelling ?) on DHGATE.com.and Alibaba for $400 cheaper. These inverters control circuit is assured to fail and go from 50/60 hertz to flat in the upper wave. The triads and timer chip is worse possible sold in China. But, you can replace them with the TI option for both triad and timer chip set, a 555 with a www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Texas-Instruments/NE555P/ As for the triad you'll need to source that from where your at, I suggest one from a Air Conditioner starter control board. Good luck with it. I would say if you ever hit it with a large load, make sure its Freak Drive ( frequency start drive) like a well pump or its toast. I have seen over 40 of these show up at our repair shop in town in the last 4 months.. Truth be told, AIMS sucks so bad I won't even order parts for them.
+Јохн «HEADSMASHER» Даниел I've been run it a year and and and half and and it has been doing great. I'm not sure where you get your information from. It works great.
***** The control board, It sets the phase and timing plus voltage limits top/bottom. Also the switching cycle circuit seems to have a high pitch noise when running that attracts roaches, and other flying insects especially mosquitoes. I suggest people put a screen box around it.
Why would you even ask that question? TR is an American, and as Americans we have the right to have firearms, except for the communist controlled areas of our country.

You are starting to rock your system ! Way cool .
Thanks Mouse! Yep really going to try and get a lot out of it this coming year.
Looks like a beast!!! Holy crap...that seems huge. Nice setup!!!
Central Oregon Survival Network Yeah bigger than I needed but should last for years and years since I doubt I'll ever put that much load on it.
Nice, looks like a great setup...
Thanks!
Nice unit , just got mine 4000w 48v running great.
Nice, glad to hear that.
I am thinking of doing some upgrades to my solar too.. good thing I found your video.. this really help me..
I'm glad it helped. They have a 3000 watt model now which was all I needed.
very cool Colonel ,looks like one heck of a unit ! should run anything you need !
thanks for sharing ,very interesting !

Thanks Colonel! Yeah this should pretty much handle my whole house once I get all the batteries and panels going.
I have installed a few of them in Nigeria and Ghana. They have been very reliable. I prefer to have an external mppt to one built in. The standby consumption is a bit high but it does the job

I thank God for people like you . long live the solar revolution!!!!
Thanks I appreciate it!
I don't know the first thing about solar, but that gizmo looks impressive =)
Yeah did a lot of research and it seemed to be the best for the money. Thanks!

Awesome. Doing a big solar project was something I was going to do in the coming year. But I bought a bunch of land instead. Maybe some day I will.
I'd say you are better off with the property if given the choice. Solar can be worked on later. Thanks Brother!
Awesome. That's a big 'um for sure! You'll be able to have some luxuries and a measure of comfort, not just necessary stuff. That's a beast!
Thanks for the video

Yeah that thing should pretty much handle my whole house as long as I don't turn everything on at once..LOL! Thanks!
Top stuff mate. Now you can go OFF GRID. man they rock. Yes they use a bit more on amps on standby but you can even weld with that :) So happy for you my friend :)

nice upgrade, 48v is great, I'm looking to get a 48v to run along side my 24v, so I can run all my 220 appliances.

Yep got the V8 model...LOL!!!
:-)
Cool. Would like to see it all hooked up and running
Me too!..LOL. I'm hoping to have it going within the next week. Thanks!
48V is the way to go!
Bill Yates Yep was going to upgrade and thought might as well go all the way. Thanks!
dont know much about solar systems, but that thing looks pretty bad ass. thanks for good info mate.
Thanks! I hope it works out to be a good addition.
looks like you got things covered but rekon you got a good old fuel generator as back up?
I do have a gas powered generator as well. But have only used it a couple times, the system I have now usually will supply my basic needs when the power is out.
Nice looking system!
Thanks Rich!
Very cool. Way to be self reliant. Or a step closer.
Isyour6covered Thanks man! I'm working on it.
You have a dang good set up TRprepper, In the woods, there are more people ready than in any city!
Thanks! Yeah working at being as self reliant as I can.
Looks like you made a pretty good choice bro.
GunCrazy81 Thanks man! I hope I made a good choice we will see. Take care brother!
Looks like a great unit TR thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kip!

off grid kid So far it's been a good one, built really tough, it should last a long time. Thanks!
My 12 volt 6000 watt inverter, can't even power my 1000 watt microwave oven over 30 seconds. I run 0 AWG wire in my system. But a second batter may be needed in my 2018 Kia Soul.
That's way too much power to be drawn from your car especially if you have a factory alternator
Lol !!!
Thanks! Yeah I practiced so much that day I was bleeding that's why I had the gloves on..LOL!!!
I was thinking about going to a Aims, how's that inverter working for you?
It's working great. I wish they had the smaller one out when I got mine. So it uses a little more power at idle, but not a huge amount more.
Thanks!
why dont you do a video connecting cables to it?
+karenmorris I may do that. Thanks for watching.
48 volt at 6kw would that mean 125 amp draw, peaking at 375 amps for the surge.
I wanted to go to 48V and that was the cheapest one I could find that seemed to be a quality unit. I wanted a 2000 to 3000 watt unit, but couldn't find one. it's overkill for me would never push it to 6000w.
a better option would be to run 3 times 2 kw units.
24 V version runs pretty much my 10 breakers With no problem 8 batteries 6 deep cell 1600 W Solar panel Ames is a good choice
Thanks, it was more than I needed but actually at the time cheaper than their 3000w version.
any updates on the Aims inverter since I am guessing it has been in action for sometime now
I have another set of batteries coming in this week. Was going to do a update after i get them. It's working great
+TRprepper
Good news; can't wait to hear. There are a lot of powerful inverters out there but outside the big names I hear a lot of horror stories
nice inverter. what is the idle current draw of this unit?
I forget exactly but around 0.6 to 0,8 amps.
Any update on this? I'm looking for a quality inverter myself
It has worked great, I wish they had the 3500W available when I purchased it. But there isn't much difference in the idle amp draw on the two.
TRprepper great! Also, is this UL listed? I found an "HP 6kw solar inverter with 48v built in charge controller" for $1400 shipped but they want more for the UL listed version...

how many price guns?

It's a monster.
Yes it is! Thanks man!

wow ! nice

Is this a battery ??
Nassim Bendimerad No it is a inverter.
what it do ??
It converts battery power to 120 volts to use things you plug into a wall in your house.
But the things to plug usually use 220 volts !
You are not in the US I gather, here our outlets are 120Volts.

why do you need a pistol?
