    I personally wouldn't put a film on the side windows, they are designed to crumble and be relatively easy to break in order that they can be a means of escape in an emergency.

      ahh very good point! I didn't look into that side of it. thank you so much for sharing!

      I think that you are very mistaken about film on windows… They are not shatterproof.. in fact, it is still very easy to break through your windows… what film is there for is to buy you time to escape and drive off, since it will take a minute for the intruder to break through the glass rather than a few seconds… and it helps to deter thieves from doing a quick grab-and-go robbery… you can still very easily escape your car with film on the windows- especially when you are trying to save your own life

      @@judytran4926The solution is simple. Just leave a part of the corner unpeeled so in an emergency you can just rip it off.

    I asked the makers about the smash proof covering used in n home windows & they said the product isn't ready for autos yet.

    That Thunderbolt system, if the OEM key system is compromised then it's useless if they work together. I think you need totally separate system and old fashion mechanical deadlocks are my choice. A bit more time to lock when you leave, but a small inconvenience for added security.

    Th U-bracket on the door handle guard protects the lock cables. Normally you could just stick a screwdriver trough the metal under the handle and you canhook it in the cable to pull them and release the lock.

      @@HughTube No problem. I've fitted them too. As well as the protective film on the glass. And some other stuff... What I would suggest on top of your list is a BearLock gear shifter lock. Altough at some point you gonna get annoyed by the many locks you have to engage/undo every time you got outof your van. But safety comes at a price. If all your earthly posessions are in that one van, you want to protect it.

    Hey! 🙂 Thanks for this vid. I was thinking of installing these systems too. So looking forward to your install vids. I noticed you didn’t mention your cameras. Did you do another vid on that, as I am keen to put that in too.
    Thank you for taking the time to make and share this content. It is so helpful.

      really appreciate it! I did film this before installing the CCTV but it will film a video that shows it off. It is very useful to add as it also comes with a dvr that records a day or two of footage which is very useful

    A Stoplock Pro Steering Wheel lock is very very difficult to remove (more than 5 mins with a grinder attack) and a highly visible deterrent. £55. For me it pays to advertise that the van has extra security, so thieves don’t even try.

    ve also got dead/hook locks all round, a 24hr tracked tracker and a bear-lock from Theft Stop LTD, a very discreet lock which you can lock the gearbox in reverse...

    Do the films go on the windscreen too? Catalytic converter locks are a must these days. I have dead/hook locks on my doors - the Thunderbolt on your back door could do with a spacer to get the plunger to engage more.A good steering wheel lock is a good visual deterant.👍

    • @HughTube
      @HughTube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes apparently the film goes on all the glass up front. The catalytic converter locks are a funny one, never thought I would need to look into that but it will be on my radar!
      Is that a spacer to lengthen the bolt or to thicken the metal it goes into?

    • @errolmagill1611
