Cool video, Neil. If one listens to the statistics and the powers that be, then the best deterrent to thieves is to make entry and success look as cumbersome as possible with visible things like your side door lock (we use a padlock in the rail), a brightly painted steering clamp, a wheel clamp, etc. Thieves will generally take the path to least resistance. Alarms, even when heard by the culprits, unfortunately hardly phase them any more. France, Spain, Portugal - they're in and out quicker than you will check your phone. Interesting devices but with a somewhat limited effectiveness. The rear door brackets of your other video are great! We also use similar brackets on the side door with a small chain.
Good information 👍 We have the Vanguardian system fitted, it also works by detecting any vibration, tampering etc which sets off multiple sirens as an audible deterrent. Will add the Carlock units aswell, as its good to get the notification of any potential criminal activity.
This looks like a very good system for the price. Luckily I have a tracker that has vibration alerts and a multitude of other alerts built in. If I didn’t have the tracker I would have purchased the sensors.
Dear, we have a camper ourselves and we close the doors from the inside with the seat belts, you put the metal flap through the handles and then simply place it in the slot. Costs nothing and always works well and has the advantage that you can drive away immediately if something happens, greetings DDS
Yerrrr if seen lots of people do that . Also to have zero effect when people break in there van . They either open the door slowley to let the belt out or just unclip it . It’s one of them if it makes you feel safer things but never known it to work
For at home use if you have a wireless home alarm there is the “Pyronix Car Defender” I’ve seen it working with the pyronix wireless alarm & the texecom elite which can have both wired & wireless sensors attached depending on the model. With this if the vehicle is tampered with it sets your house alarm off so waking up the neighbourhood.
Don't care what anyone else says I'm buying this for my new (old 1992) vw t4 camper! Hands down the cheapest and most efficient solution to my worries for a reasonable price especially compared to other similar devices Possibly saving me my van in future. If not, at least it helps Thanks so much!
Mate I keep seeing people getting there vans stolen and it makes me sick . We have booked in to an alarm place next month and are getting a propper alarm fitted . We will allways use the car lock system but I think it’s time to up the game .
There some similar that I had on.my van mainly used for a patio door. And went off when the door was knocked. But they went off emeditly and very loud. Ideal over night.. also had some PIR lights on the sides of the van
Loved the video so I purchased the CarLock, 2 sensors. The tag. Then registered and subscribed to the CarLock service with the Asia - Australia option. It would not work and later learned it does not work in Australia. CarLock are trying some tech options to see if it may work with an advent in their system. In a nutshell, the system does not work in Australia at this point in time. Love your videos
Good to see youre both looking well. Product wont stop them but it hopefully creates enough noise for them to think wtf get out of here. Show the Alarm volume on line
I fitted them to my van today after watching your video last night and buying them on amazon. I put them in similar locations to you did, on my sprinter van. Very easy to fit. Thanks for the heads up on these guys.
I read that the tracking system is plugged in the OBD port are you not worried thieves will just smash window and rip it out and then become un trackable ?
Hiya you 2. Daft question. Does the alarm go off when you open the door or do you have to shut it as well like in the vid. Great vids by the way. Cheers
Then it won’t go off . You will have to be in service for that to happen . But same thing could be said of what if you see some one steeling your van and has no service you can’t ring the police . Vans seldomly get broken in to or stolen in remote areas as a general rule of thumb is there needs to be people there to do bad things .
niel whats the proper android app when i downloaded the android google store one carlock where it says car lock sensors below in the app its got in red not supported
Great Vlog buddy. Do you have ro have any other Carlock system to use these with the tag? Or can you just use the Vibration Sensors and Tag and link them? Cheers Mick
OK but what distance are they good for im in an apartment 200 feet away is it going to work I dont think so I am guessing but I would hazard a guess that it works within 40 feet of the device then its useless after that....
The distance they give is the distance from the sensor to the CarLock box. You can be any distance from your van and you'll be notified of an activation. As Neil said in the video, once a vibration is detected the CarLock system notifies you via the app on your phone.
Am I missing something? It looks to be a nifty product that works, but doesn’t it just tell your van has been stolen/broken into. Then what do you do? Seems a bit horse has bolted. I’ve always thought visible deterrents are more effective and better use of money.
Visible deterrents are great but not always on the outside of the van these sensors detect vibrations, so if someone banging the door, breaking a window etc, as if you have an alert before they get in the van it could make a major difference as to whether they manage to actually take it, in our view you can’t have too much security. But we have multiple security measures in and on the van, not just one thing.
The Carlock web site states it works through BT at a max range of 6m, so your phone needs to be connected to the device through BT within 6m. Is there another part that the vibration sensors connect to rather than directly to your phone?
So you need to by a subscription then....so I'll tell you where i am..for that reason , and that reason only, i wont be investing in your product today, im out ...
That’s ok buddy . Some people are fine with £9 per month cos it’s penny’s per day . But we also realise that some just can’t afford it and that’s ok as well
Absolutely your opinion I now use shield same idea cheaper and functions great if you don't like negative reactions find something else to do won't be responding to you again say what you like I'm not bothered now said my bit to carlock themselves anyhow
Personal experience! I was only over the road in a property the alert took 78 seconds by the time I came out the thieves car was driving off with my tools in it ! So yes I am qualified to make that statement !

Just gone to order and they are out of stock of sensors 😁You've made then run out because of your fab video😍

The tracker is a great bit of kit we bought 2 after your original vlog. Ta for this.
Agree it’s a very cost affective way of giving your self a little peace of mind
My fav trick is going out in one 6 it goes off on 2 mobiles and 2 tablets and scares the heck out of hubby.
These are brilliant mate
They are but remember to turn the system off or you’ll get alerts all the time

Couldn’t agree more the more security in our eyes the better and for the money this a great product, we have used carlock for around 4 years now!!!
Good install as any van gets targeted lately .Great video neil

I think by that time thieves have gone with your tools 🤷🏻♂️
I’d expect if you had a lot of valuable tools in your van then a budget alarm is the first problem you have
It takes nearly a minute To steal the average vehicle now
1/2 a minute on a budget is good. Better than having nothing😊
You have to buy the Carlock OBD reader to use these and pay a subscription !
You do but it’s not going to break the bank .
Thanks for pointing that out.
Cool 😎 as I’m starting my van build I will definitely be fitting these 😎👌❤
It’s a good system to look at
Do these actually detect motion like someone walking close to your car? The default device is good enough for detecting vibrations on my car.
They don’t detect motion but vibration

Oooh 😮 great video 👍🏼
Thank you 😁

I think the only alarm sound is on the phone itself Robert.
I fitted them to my van today after watching your video last night and buying them on amazon.
I put them in similar locations to you did, on my sprinter van.
Very easy to fit.
Thanks for the heads up on these guys.
There a good little add on and dose help . I keep forgettting to deactivate ours and get alarms every time I go in the van
@@UrbanVanlife I also got the key fob for that very reason!
Hi Niel do you need to buy any thing else for the sensors to work cheers jason
You do need a car clock system mate but there very cheep to be honest
I liked the look of this until till i found out the 20 feet Bluetooth range 😢
You can lower that in the app
I read that the tracking system is plugged in the OBD port are you not worried thieves will just smash window and rip it out and then become un trackable ?
We’ve moved our OBD port…
We've got two, plus bit of the kit that allows you to place it wherever you can tap off to a permanent feed. Brilliant bit of kit.
There is a hardwired version that you can hide away anywhere in your van.
Hiya you 2. Daft question. Does the alarm go off when you open the door or do you have to shut it as well like in the vid. Great vids by the way. Cheers
If the system is activated it will go off open or close . But you only want to have it activated when your not in the van
What if you are somewhere remote with no mobile coverage?
Then it won’t go off . You will have to be in service for that to happen . But same thing could be said of what if you see some one steeling your van and has no service you can’t ring the police . I fitted vanolarm and it’s janky as hell. The way these pair up would be much better! Shame the 2 ideas can’t collide and make one awesome product!
They look ace.
My backdoor is already very sensitive and I don't let anybody get anywhere near it.
Need to be careful ppl will try it on while you’re asleep . And can you imagine the shock of getting your back doors fiddled with while fast asleep
Brilliant vid u deserve a brusie bonus
Everyone needs a brucie bonus
Hi do you need to buy anything else to get this to work . I just got 2
You do need a CarLock system but there plug and play and very affordable
@@UrbanVanlife how much are they to buy and are there a subscription
Another ace video 👍
Thanks you 😍😍
Where im from, i have no problems just keeping my door unlocked all the time no issues.
Where are you from...the 1950's?
Hi mate do you need to buy anything else for this to work
niel whats the proper android app when i downloaded the android google store one carlock where it says car lock sensors below in the app its got in red not supported
I’m on iPhone mate sorry . You would be better contacting CarLock
Good for garage doors aswell, wonder if a could fit one to my wallet .🤔
Worth a go
Great Vlog buddy. Do you have ro have any other Carlock system to use these with the tag? Or can you just use the Vibration Sensors and Tag and link them?
Cheers Mick
Sorry though I had said in the video that it’s an add on
You forgot to mention you need the CarLock device to enable the vibration sensors.
Sorry about me I do forget some of the details sometimes 😞
Very handy gadget
Small things can be handy some times . I personally know a handy sandy
You'll crap ypurself when hail or heavy rain sets it off ;)
Dose the carlock have a monthly charge they look good
Yer I think we play £9 per month
Thanks for sharing neil good video nd how is Emma
Emma is on the mend! Couple more weeks and she’s be good as new!
Hi, if I was to buy them is there an ongoing fee?
There is a subscription
Neil will these work without the other kit eg standalone. Cheers
They are an add on to the obs carlock system . But that’s not a massive cost to be honest mate
@@UrbanVanlife thanks Neil, I suspected it based on your comments in the early half of the video. Keep them coming, we enjoy your channel
whats happening with the ford camper neil? are you intending to sell it.?
That was sold about 12 months ago mate . We did put it up for sale and it sold
OK but what distance are they good for im in an apartment 200 feet away is it going to work I dont think so I am guessing but I would hazard a guess that it works within 40 feet of the device then its useless after that....
It says approx 20 foot on their amazon page so not much use

Amazon mate on there store
Wow a lot of views 🎉
Not as many as I’d have hoped not any where near as many .

Does that focus mode work on Android.
Should work on any device I’d imagine
Can't find it on Android
Nice one
Thanks 🔥
Thanks for sharing x
Sharing is caring
ok but and the windows ?
Sure they vibrate when you smash them
❤👍🏻🙏🏻Brilliant.
Thank you 🤩
Sorry man. Crap! The only Security that is worth it is divices that keep anyone outside. If they get inside any device is worthless.
It’s worth it for us, but thanks for the comment, everyone is different.
They are useless as they use Bluetooth and don't work when your out of range, 6m stated on the website. Don't see the point?
Where is your car lock device . It connects to that not blue tooth to your phone 😂😂😂😂😂.
