Re-watching this after viewing your podcast on what happened. I think you did a great job on how you included what happened. Good mix of humor and seriousness and viewers can really see how shook up you two were. Wonderful way to warn people about the hazard. It’s actually very common for people to not realize solid looking doesn’t mean actually weight bearing. My husband fell mostly through our ceiling twice. Once because he had NO IDEA to ONLY STAND ON RAFTERS, not the ceiling boards. He caught himself just before falling all the way. Second time because our cat ran up the ladder into the attic and he instinctive reacted to catch the cat and stepped off the rafter. Both times he’s was really lucky it wasn’t worse. First time, he was right over my stained glass work bench with bins full of glass shards. 😵 The second, he was over our double story foyer (foy-yay in EnK speak) and could have fallen two stories down. Thanks for bringing this up and including the incident to help others realize the hazard!
When I was a teenager my Dad was laying floor in our attic. He failed to cut off a new floorboard at the joist and i trod on that part of the floor and ended in the exact same position as Evan. Exact same position. That hole was there for years, I never lived it down. I feel your pain

Nothing funny about it - but you really handled it well. My adult daughter did the same thing - we have a tall attic space, put in a complete floor out of plywood, and had all the ducting moved out of the center of the attic so we can really load the joint up!! In our case, she forgot that we had one area left exposed for future pluming renovations and stepped off the edge of the nice, strong floor.... Thanks for sharing!
I just bought my first house and I'm renovating it as well. Was just about to finish leveling the floors on the top floor and I also fell through my ceiling. Put my foot down on a piece of plywood that was not fully seated on the beams and now there's two nice holes poking through my ceiling :D
You did awesome with the tin snips, way more patience and less bleeding than I could ever achieve LOL... It has literally been Evan and Katelyn 24/7 and my productivity has been really good! Thank you Evan and Katelyn for all you do!!! I always look forward to every upload!
They said it's all recycled materials so other than the pink stuff I don't think it's fiberglass, otherwise they wouldn't wanna be up there in short sleeves, no matter how hot it is
I just noticed that right before Evan fell, he took an extra step, and that's why his leg was up on the floor when he fell. So if he hadn't taken that extra step he probably would have fell with the floor, and gone into their office.
god, i was so worried that you guys were just working in asbestos fluff.. im really glad you made your own insulation instead cos ive heard some stories
Me "Why am I watching Evan and Katelyn at 345 am?" *Katelyn starts using power tools like a badass* Me "That's why" (Just tired of being told by people I should stick to girly things! Love seeing Katelyn be awesome)
About a year ago I was reorganizing our TX attic. I wish I had seen this video then. I also fell through the floor. I was ok but I let the attic win. I won't go back up there. Seeing this video now makes me want to go back up and do a raised floor and fix our storage too! Y'all make it look so easy!
one thing i like about them is that they seem like genuinely good people. The aren't too enforcing of their sponsors, and they always admit to their mistakes, even if it means a less fluent video. They are clearly not focused on the money, and don't have massive ego's. Oh, and dont forget how good Katelyn is at editing xD.
That was a very "Clark Griswold" moment Evan had lol Happy he is ok but OMG his face lol! That 'moment when everything you didn't want to happen but did happen and you're coming to terms with reality' face! Katelyn handled it well to with an "Are you OK" and not WTF lol
So, when I was little, my dad, uncles and grandpa lived in a 3 story house. 1st floor was living room, kitchen, bathroom and grandpas bedroom. 2nd floor was my uncle Jash and Jasons bedrooms and my dads room, and another bathroom. The third floor was a full attic, that had half a floor. I had toys up there, and they had foam insulation, and it was safe for me to breathe up there (my grandpa tested it for me XD) and i would sneak up there and balance on the support beams, playing with my toys, pretending there were fairies dancing with me. It was my dreamland. I was a lonely kid.

Omg when he cracked the board I was like was that it was that him “falling through the ceiling” and then he really did 😂😂
So there's a jumpscare (12:24)...
and then there's just 13:14 which I was NOT expecting
oof
It's good horror. The jumpscare but with follow through
Thanks for reminding so i can prepare my heart☺
Haha!
I was watching this video with my cat sitting on my lap, and when 12:24 happened and I flinched she jumped up and bolted out the door. I can’t blame her tho, that was startling
Katelyn: "It's almost like we planned it“
10 seconds later
Also Katelyn: "will this fit through the attic door...?"
Haha! Our plans aren't always accurate... 😂
Been following for a long while but this past week I have been going back through all your videos from all channels while I work on...well work and also while I am crafting and sewing. It has literally been Evan and Katelyn 24/7 and my productivity has been really good! Thank you Evan and Katelyn for all you do!!! I always look forward to every upload!
GOOD catch on that fall man. And good job keeping the camera on him.
Haha thanks!
That insulation is still giving me nightmares but at least now it's trapped below floor tiles
They said it's all recycled materials so other than the pink stuff I don't think it's fiberglass, otherwise they wouldn't wanna be up there in short sleeves, no matter how hot it is
Oh same!!! I didn’t know attics could look like that tbh...
Oh yeah, that's blown insulation. Super common. It's white & fluffy when new, but invariably ends up gray with dust.
Isn't that the one made of fiberglass or something
@@ssshark_bait looks like the blown in borax treated newspaper stuff tbh, but even then really wouldn't want direct contact with it
Me "Why am I watching Evan and Katelyn at 345 am?"
*Katelyn starts using power tools like a badass*
Me "That's why"
(Just tired of being told by people I should stick to girly things! Love seeing Katelyn be awesome)
Don't let people tell you what to do! ❤️
@Alice Burchett wtf
@Alice Burchett da heck 😐
@Alice Burchett Had a stroke trying to read this
@@Amber_Trixie dude same! Hit me up😂
Bruised feelings of comfort and safety. RIGHT!!!!
no one:
evan: what if i fell through? haha
no one:
Evan 5 seconds later: * Falls through *
😭😭
One Pro tip for attics: Place your foot only on the beams/support structures. Anyways glad to know your okay Evan.
Ironically, he was on a beam but his foot slipped!
The thing I love about this channel is that Evan doesn't do all the work and we see Katelyn doing some of it too.
OMG, even while I knew it was coming, moments before he fell, I was thinking please be careful Evan!!!
❤️❤️❤️ we're glad he's ok too! Thank you!
@13:00 -Holy cow I'm glad Evan caught himself there. That was scary!
Same!
About a year ago I was reorganizing our TX attic. I wish I had seen this video then. I also fell through the floor. I was ok but I let the attic win. I won't go back up there. Seeing this video now makes me want to go back up and do a raised floor and fix our storage too! Y'all make it look so easy!
15:20 That moment you need to know how to fix something and you see your own video on how to fix it lol
😭😭😂
one thing i like about them is that they seem like genuinely good people.
Haha thanks! You described the moment perfectly 😂
Make FALL Make Fail Make. :) Glad Evan's OK and thanks for sharing the highs and lows of a project like this.
Thank you!
Katlyns “oh sh*t” was so cute!
"ieeliykitittaduhdughdi..."
Can we get shirts made with this on it?? LOL
😂❤️
YES I WOULD LOVE THAT
When he first cracked the board in the attic I was like, "wow click bait he did not fall through the ceiling" and then he did 😰
Ryley Seburn that’s exactly what I felt like
2:35 I did not know that I would be as amused as I was by the phrase, 'installing our floor.'
