I'm a single shop woodworker, and a project like this would take me a lot longer. Kudos for your efficient timing. Would have taken me at least 24 hrs. Three days of hour shift.
This table turned out great! While I love how it looks, what I really love is how kind and giving the woodworking community is. Seriously, if you're nice to people, they'll gladly help you out and be nice in return. Great video as always!
This was a great video. Especially loved the open discussion about trying to sell it, shipping logistics, and the cost break down. All that is SUPER valuable to any aspiring wood workers. I subscribed after just seeing this video alone and look forward to watching more of your videos.
He said spalted and I just screamed... I'm redecorating my house entrance, living room and hallway and spalting woodd is going to be the theme. Its just something that is so unic and isn't overwhelming to the eye.
Always inspiring…!!! It’s always good to see how you're facing challenges and turning waste into art or furniture. Keep going; I wish you bigger and more awesome things in the near future. That’s what happy, humble, honest, and positive people deserve always. Greetings from Mexico! 🎉
to help strengthen the rotted areas on the top side try using wood hardener. it penetrates really well and hardens up any loose or soft wood. at least in my experience. I mainly use it on veneer to prevent splintering but couldnt hurt to do a few tests
Marley I can’t express myself enough when I say how much joy u and Edith and the clan bring to my life I wish you soo much good and happiness in your life
Well, not really this shows you can make about a 1000 dollars pre tax in 24 hours. Though only when the wood is free.... So with free wood (with our country,s tax fees) you would of made 630 dollars. Given this dude somehow works really fast he is able to make minimal profits with free wood. Normally when you buy the wood yourself your down at least 300 so 330 dollars profit after tax. Which means youd make about 12 to 14 dollars an hour. At this point you could work at McDonalds....
One thing you can do to help protect your art pieces is to place a plastic bad in areas around your piece, then fill the bags with spray foam, and close it up, when the spray foam dries, it fills in the gap areas to keep your piece from moving around and getting damaged.
I dont even know how to woodwork but this man, this man inspired me and im learning. Also the 3D printing is just… chefs kiss… muah. Its everything I’m interested in. Keep up the nice work!
Nice table and great that you were able to "rescue" the slab from the scape heap. "Cutting after curving" highlights that when making, we need to consider in-full how we intend to construct a piece, reduce construction complexity and avoid potential disasters. Cutting the additional lenght off and gluing it to the other piece before gluing and bending might have saved some angst.
Wow, that is a nice guy 👍 "Just pick a few of these spalted maples, the birdseyes.." 👍 But, if someone deserves a friend like that, it's Morley! Mom agrees, right? ❤
First time viewer here! I loved seeing this project! The spalting was gorgeous in that piece. I really appreciated your price breakdown (and conversion to USD so I don't have to do the math!) That honesty and transparency was really nice to see. I don't currently live in a location that allows for this kind of woodworking project, but my goal is to be in my own home in 2025 so hopefully I can begin learning from people like you and I can try out some projects myself when I have space. Keep up the awesome work!
I wish you was my wood works teacher at my high school 😅 you are so good better than me lol you inspire me to make a small business out of wood working you help so many people stay strong 💪
I asked my 10year old Daughter, two weeks ago what she wouldreally, really want for her 11th birthday which is tomorrow, and she told me that she would love to be a kick-boxer. I, like any good father said "leave it to me, I'll sort everything out by your birthday party", I've just put the last coat of varnish on the box. She will be crying with tears of happiness with her friends tomorrow evening. 😅😢🎉
Amazing table! I usually don't like aesthetic of natural wood furnishings but this is very nice, I think it was the curve in the base that make a really cool and nice to look at piece.
Thanks for sharing your your project and I love the top. It looks like a 14th century atlas type map of the world as it was known. Not a lover of the bottom but I learnt a lot. Thanks 👍
Hi Morley I really love your videos, I started watching them a few months ago and it has really inspired me to work with wood and practice making things, you have really inspired me. Thank you so much.
i highly suggest upgrading your tablesaw. trust me. i had the same one and upgraded to a grizzly hybrid tablesaw. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!! fine looking piece by the way. came out beautiful.
I've would of get a uhaul pick-up and drive 10 to 12 hours south, saving all the shipping and brokers fees, enjoying the view of a sumer road trip. I've lived in innisfil,On now, I'm in Virginia, and I do the same for my customers. I'll drive as long as there is no more than 12 hours dirve and at least $600 shipping savings. Put it this way 2 day trip at a minimum of $300 a day it's a cherry on top! Cheers, my friend Blessings Oh, by the way I love your work!!!
very nice piece of work, my hope was you were gonna epoxy the empty U shape. I understand epoxy cost alot but it would also make the value go up by atleast 200/300 bucks
When I see basic pieces from Restoration Hardware go for thousands $$$$, I KNOW this table you built is worth so much more. But I understand it's always a battle to find the right buyer. This piece came out so great! One of your bests yet.
Wow you are incredibly lucky, this gift from David is just beautiful and part of me envies you when I see these wonderful slices you got, including this superb "speckled maple cookie" (2:25) what a beauty!!! I can see that you've respected this superb wood by doing what you've done with it, thank you for doing it justice. Just something that reminds me, in previous videos I've seen on shaping plywood as you do, the people who did it moistened the wood to avoid or limit any risk of cracking, you didn't use this technique and it worked, but for other projects I think it's a good idea to do this way to bend plywood sheets.
What about freight on board (FOB) Toranto to destination ??? You might have consigned it a shipper that would truck it in XX days (guaranteed) to save on shipping.
nice nice work my brother .your the reason i got into making stuff from pallets cause i got loads of them but yea keep the good work coming. people love hand made goods
Instead of the reciprocating saw, using a ruler, 2 clamps and a Stanley knife would do the trick, only a thin layer of veneer But you fixed the mistake incredibly well and that's what counts.
The top turned out pretty nice, but NOT a fan of the base....LTo me it looks cheap. Would have looked so much better with a more artistic base and made from natural hardwood. Just my 2 cents
He still has buyers. He’s doing this primarily for the profit, so I don’t think he’s concerned if a few people here and there think it looks cheap. Don’t like it, don’t buy it. Lol. My 2 cents as well.
Thanks for another excellent process demo video, Morley. I showed my Mom the earlier video about this "biscuit," because she's having an old walnut tree cut down, and we're going to try to save as much of the wood as possible for potential projects. Multi-layered thanks!
Holy Moly! That's gorgeous! How could you sell it? I could never have let it go. Just found your channel. Love your personality. Did you say you're in Toronto? Could you have driven it to the US and shipped from within instead of over the border?
I loved your table. What would you think k about a leather base? I seen leather Zone on the base of a table. I'm sure you've seen the episode where the guy made a table out of denim. What a beautiful base. With that beautiful piece of wood you had I felt maybe a leather base would have been absolutely gorgeous and probably would have went for almost $5,000. Just a guess. But it would have really up the volume
Hey Morley, loved the output, amazing work yet again. Sorry if i've missed it but what router sled are you using to flatten your slabs? Thanks for such inspiring work. Love your content
My thought exactly. The idea of letting that run in the background while working on another task elimates the hands on time. Especially when you are working on two components at once.
Drop your best woodworking joke
Pinning this so I finally have some jokes to tell Eden when she asks for them
His prices
From Eden:
“I have some good ones but I don’t want to crack you up”
I was going to make a joke about carpentry, but I don’t know any that wood work 😮😂
Why did the wooden table go to therapy? Because it had some serious knots!
I don’t know what it is about you that I like. Maybe it’s
Your positive energy. We need more
Of that I. This world. Keep up the great work. 🎉
This is absolutely one of your best pieces of furniture! It turned out so great! The crescent base was a stroke of genius.
Thank you so much!
I'm a single shop woodworker, and a project like this would take me a lot longer. Kudos for your efficient timing. Would have taken me at least 24 hrs. Three days of hour shift.
Take that back. It would have taken me a month 😂
I love you're videos I'm from Egypt and I spend hours watching you're videos without boring thanks 😊
This table turned out great! While I love how it looks, what I really love is how kind and giving the woodworking community is. Seriously, if you're nice to people, they'll gladly help you out and be nice in return. Great video as always!
David is so generous! Thanks for watching
Hi @MoreyKert
This was a great video. Especially loved the open discussion about trying to sell it, shipping logistics, and the cost break down. All that is SUPER valuable to any aspiring wood workers. I subscribed after just seeing this video alone and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you!
You might want to check that moisture meter for accuracy. 1 to 3 % seems highly unlikely, especially in Canada.
I was thinking the same thing. Air dried wood has around 15 % of moisture in it.
I also thought the numbers seemed really low
✨Croissant 🥐 coffe table ✨

Morley that wood may have been free but your hard work is priceless! Plus you make a video too!
Thank you!
A mixture of math, art and just pure hardwork. Love the vid!
Awesome with the cost breakdown. What a journey!
Thanks, Jesper!
2 sec. @MorleyKert

His name is Morley and her name is Eden!!
this shows most people can woodwork and make some money because there is definitely some more advanced woodworkers that dont even charge this much!
Well, not really this shows you can make about a 1000 dollars pre tax in 24 hours. Though only when the wood is free.... So with free wood (with our country,s tax fees) you would of made 630 dollars. It reminds me of an old world map. I love it!!!
It's hypnotizing to look at! Thanks for watching :)
I love Penny. She and my 17 lb. black cat, Riley would make a purrfect pair. LOL The table looks so great. Good work. You are a master!
Your the best. Every time I search for ideas I seem to stop on one of your projects and am left amazed
Found you through one of John Malecki's videos - really enjoying your content, especially the music.
Thank you!
All the best that the package arrives safe and sound.
I wish you was my wood works teacher at my high school 😅 you are so good better than me lol you inspire me to make a small business out of wood working you help so many people stay strong 💪

Been waiting on this thing to sell to get the video!!
Morley- you’ve got the best woodworking content hands down. Keep it up man
Thank you so much!
Incredible work! I have to try out that finish
I like this one a lot, seems like you're a lot more knowledgeable recently too
A tip for the "too close to the side:" you can use a longer bit to help if you don't have the right angle bit.
Is there a way to preserve the bark I like the way the bark looks on the slabs could you like use resin to prevent the bark from falling off
Morley - For the cut through the kerf a japanese pull saw would have been great. May take slightly longer but you'll have more control over it.
That would've worked great! And I even have one, haha
Amazing table! I usually don't like aesthetic of natural wood furnishings but this is very nice, I think it was the curve in the base that make a really cool and nice to look at piece.

Hi Morley I really love your videos, I started watching them a few months ago and it has really inspired me to work with wood and practice making things, you have really inspired me. Thank you so much.
That’s awesome to hear, thank you so much!
No problem
Where do I find a guy that’s just giving awesome wood away like that. Wow.
Talk to woodworkers in your local area!
I watch a lot of woodworking stuff , but generally think that people who try to smile all the way through their videos are just working too hard!
Check your moisture meter because it is very unlikely that wood was at 3% almost impossible. Air dried wood has around 15 % of moisture in it.
The donater said it was already kiln dried and had then been left outside for only a week.
I like the top, but I'm not a huge fan of the solid base. Still a fun project!
it looks ass ngl
You guys with your fusion models and such impress me. I do a 3d model in my
Mind while stoned, then go for it 😂😂😂😂
I’m so jelly. Wish someone was that generous for me 😂
You are doing so well since i last saw you❤ and you still tank your mom at the end of your video's ❤
What a piece and what a channel, hugs from Italy mate!
i highly suggest upgrading your tablesaw. trust me. i had the same one and upgraded to a grizzly hybrid tablesaw. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!! fine looking piece by the way. came out beautiful.
I wish to see you make cutting board with your unique touch on it.!
Looks great. I would have personally preferred some metal hairpin legs. Would have saved a bunch of time too.
I think the base accidentally having a faceted look actually adds to the appeal, really makes the contrast between the top and base pop.
I've would of get a uhaul pick-up and drive 10 to 12 hours south, saving all the shipping and brokers fees, enjoying the view of a sumer road trip.

this is like if Blacktailstudio cut every corner possible...
Another great project! Always look forward to seeing what you come up with next :)
Dang that is on point so far this week lol. Hope you feel better soon
Watching your videos, I'm sensing a theme. "Ah, it'll be fine." I hope it will.
nice nice work my brother .your the reason i got into making stuff from pallets cause i got loads of them but yea keep the good work coming. people love hand made goods
You have a huge fan from Brazil here!!
ive been binge watching your videos i think your my new favorite youtuber
❤️
You are fun to watch! AND you are using wood pushers!
Instead of the reciprocating saw, using a ruler, 2 clamps and a Stanley knife would do the trick, only a thin layer of veneer
But you fixed the mistake incredibly well and that's what counts.
as many have said, this is one of your best works
Just discovered your channel man, this table is amazing, wish I could have bought it
I need a friend like that guy. Here's free wood!
Morley makes a cable reel.... (what the base looked like early on) - nice finished product tho
The top turned out pretty nice, but NOT a fan of the base....LTo me it looks cheap. Would have looked so much better with a more artistic base and made from natural hardwood. Just my 2 cents
same it looks ugly as hell
i’ve watched like 10 of these videos in a row now. i love his work . but the hardware is always so bland
I disagree. The star of the piece is the the top. If he made an artistic base it could potentially distract from the beauty of the top.
He still has buyers. He’s doing this primarily for the profit, so I don’t think he’s concerned if a few people here and there think it looks cheap. Don’t like it, don’t buy it. Lol. My 2 cents as well.
Agreed, it looks like cheap plastic
Awesome! I'm learning a lot .... thanks for all your hints!!!!
You should make one more of those "Kurf Bending' things into a rocking chair
I like the subtle shading in the black paint of the bent boards. It softly speaks of a wood base.
The grain looks soooo cool
Thanks for another excellent process demo video, Morley. I showed my Mom the earlier video about this "biscuit," because she's having an old walnut tree cut down, and we're going to try to save as much of the wood as possible for potential projects. Multi-layered thanks!
Amazing! Thanks for watching
@@MorleyKert Cheers!
Pineapple, Blueberry, yuka?😅 love your work, be safe on the road.
This is how it is done, makers helping makers.
This would've made a really cool mini bar instead of a table. Great work.
Love your videos! Keep doing them.
Would love to know about your hair care😂
Holy Moly! That's gorgeous! How could you sell it? I could never have let it go. Just found your channel. Love your personality. Did you say you're in Toronto? Could you have driven it to the US and shipped from within instead of over the border?
Just found your channel. And ready to start learning how to build. 😊😊
Beautiful table. Didn't know that shipping was so expensive.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!! DOPE! And there's no cursing! HAHA just a personal preference.
That really looks amazing
Everything from TotalBoat is essentially free as they sponsor him 😉
That's beautiful Morley!! Great Job!!
I loved your table. What would you think k about a leather base? I seen leather Zone on the base of a table. I'm sure you've seen the episode where the guy made a table out of denim. That's some good bending, they should call you Morley Kerf!
Haha thank you!
Holy poopies @MorleyKert
Kid in a candy store much? I'd have loved to dig through that collection!
Amazing work Morley!! Your coolest piece so far 👏
Beautifully done !
Table turned out beautiful great job. Great video
I just came from an older video of your where everyone was positive you wouldn’t have all your fingers, but there they are.
You are super talented. Great job!!
did not need that right angle bit, you just need an extender.... great work either way!!
Hey Morley, loved the output, amazing work yet again. Sorry if i've missed it but what router sled are you using to flatten your slabs?
Thanks for such inspiring work. Love your content
Clean cut woodworking router sled - link in description!
Yo i just stumbled across you channel. Absolutly amazing craftsmanship!! This inspires me to get into this.
Blueberry, pineapple,yuka. Enjoy your riadtrip.
Motorizing that router table seems like a well worth investment, even if it's just x/y movement.
Shouldn't be too expensive.
My thought exactly. The idea of letting that run in the background while working on another task elimates the hands on time. Especially when you are working on two components at once.
