  • Second part video looking at the lowering suspension kit and seat on the DesertX. Bit of a scenic tour around Wellington. If you are a shorter rider and have the DesertX - I totally recommend lowering it.

A really helpful video, thank you. I picked up my DDX a few days ago, loving it, but i do find it tall as you describe. I'm seriously considering the lowering kit, but unsure how it would affect handling on road and off road? I imagine the reduced suspension travel off road in particular would be noticeable?

Hi … sorry for delay. The on road handling isn’t effected by the lowering kit or not that I noticed. I haven’t done much off-road so can’t comment. But the clearance is pretty good and don’t think it impacts it’s a lot … you can play with preload and other setting to minimise bottoming out.

have you heard there's a shorter kick stand from Ducatis as a recall?

Yes I do … it’s came out for the standard suspension … the one that came with the shorter suspension hasn’t changed? I just took it in for the service a month ago and the recall didn’t affect the shorter one that was already installed. I was also informed the redesigned centre stand that stopped previous sales is coming to market this month :)
